Clean way to do this is with a service unit override. 1. Stop emby and restore the original unit file. 2. Verify that the unit file has the original ExecStart command: $ systemctl show emby-server |grep ExecStart 3. Create a unit override to add the Nice parameter. This will open an editor where you can add Nice=-5 to the service block. $ systemctl edit emby-server Add: [Service] Nice=-5 4. Exit and save the override file. Y and enter for the prompts. 5. Start the Emby server. And run top/htop to verify the new nice value.

Yes, everything will work after upgrading. No special migration steps required. Install Synology DSM 7.2 upgrade. After the upgrade it will say your version of Emby server is incompatible with DSM 7.2 Install Emby Server 4.8.0.37 compiled for DSM 7.2+ All is good. There is already a new link to the 7.2 builds so just get it from the normal download link. https://emby.media/download.html The only reason kaj had to do something special for his NAS is because he used a hack to convert his M2 drives on his DS918+ to be used as normal volumes. If you never did that hack then there is nothing else you need to do. Since you have a DS1821+ you can now use the GUI to convert your M2 drives (if you have them) and want to do that after upgrading to DSM 7.2. No hack required.

Bit the bullet and went ahead and manually installed DSM7.2. I stopped Emby first, download the beta .37 package for DSM7.2, ran the script from here, and then ran the DSM update. Nerve-racking as I'm 2500km from my server. Everything installed as expected. Checked my SSD volume 2. It's still there, health good, but showing: As it's all working this is not a problem, as showing this in the Storage Manager. Maybe another reboot of the NAS might sort this out, some have said that works. Then installed Emby beta .37, which went without a hitch. Had to run a library rescan to pick up content that had been added while I was installing the updated .37 package. Also, all my docker containers moved and ran automatically in the new Container Manager app.

Update - 18 July 2024 OK, so in this update you have the option to Prefer Extended Cast Information So, What does that mean? ADM by default gets the cast as listed from various websites as comma seperated values which it has saved in its database (it doesnt connect to these sites). e.g. for this movie (https://www.jeedoo.com/product/1958794-Big-Booty-White-Girls/) the ADM information server will have added to its database:- the CSV data: Somina, Luisa Rosso, Isobel, Mia Bang, Melanie Crush (Click Details to see this information on the site) ADM will then add the cast Names as Entries, but will NOT assign them with a provider id unless it detects one in the server data directory for that person . To do that you will need this turned on. Without provider ids, the same name will link across all records as tthe same person. A provider id ensures that the person has their own unique record. The feature mentioned here (Prefer Extended Cast Information) will not use the CSV Data, but will check the ADM Server for a data file which contains Actors WITH provider ids, like this: Director: Justin Slayer [IAFDG:2a51536e-201f-4a2d-a6a8-272ba1616184] Cast: Boz [IAFDG:6813ec37-79e0-4c24-a645-912ee51d12af] Cast: H. To use this one please remove the old version, and install this one. This version should be a lot faster! - Typically 3-4 seconds per movie with logging turned on, even faster when logging is off! I have also added a log option to show where the data is missing from the server - log XML Errors 8 Aug 2023 Identified another issue with identify failing, MovieList file lock causing Identify to abruptly fail resulting in 0 results when media adding/metadata scanning at the same time uses the same file. * Added a wait until file lock release to the MovieList (Up to 5 Second delay), should be less than 1 sec for any of the ADM processes. This will also work in scanning metadata and adding items to the library, so *should* prevent anything failing to use the MovieList for lookups. Pleae note: that the speed of the search depends of the words you use, if you use something common such as "girlfriend" then you will get 1000's of results and the dialog may take a few minutes to respond. Media Player - copy/move/transfer or any of this to move movie/tv series/folder to a differentiation location would be so helpful. I always have to go back to my PC to make changes.  Favourite songs: when pressing “sort by Date Added” it's not when it's added to the Favorite but added in general. This one is very important for me - I really like to listen newly added song to my Favourite list. I finally figured it out. In the Album field, I had appended a date after the album title (e.g. 10/20/87), and once I removed the date, it's all good now. It's taken me days to figure it out, but I changed every field until I found the one that was causing the problem. Makes no sense, but it works.

I was actually able to use handbrake to remove the forced flag on .ts recordings: handbrakecli -f av_mp4 -s 1 -i input.ts -o output1.mp4 where input.ts is the filename of the .ts stream and output1.mp4 is the filename of your mp4 output. It was mentioned before that handbrake didnt worked, but it did work for me. I made sure I was using the latest version of handbrake. There is also a GUI version if you arent good with command line interfaces. Also, if you would like to extract the subtitles from a .mp4 file, ffmpeg will do that for you: ffmpeg -hide_banner -i import.mp4 -map 0:s:0? import.srt

Both. Kodi banner at the top says something like 'Creating PVR IPTV Simple' or similar. That banner never goes away and I get no channels or EPG. Sometimes I can force it by restarting some stuff within Kodi.

Enter the port as 443, as that is the default https port that is being used when you call a https:// website.

Ok so no it's actually a special case and opus codec still works correctly in Emby with such bitrate, this is about the opus container that is limited to 256000. I normally request ogg container but seems for downloads with transcoding I made a typo and it was choosing opus container causing this issue. I don't think this worth much investigation on Emby side, Opus container have no reason to be used over ogg for this use case.

Ok FINALLY! after some reading and found this thread I was able to get the GPU usable in Ember, I never enrolled it in MOK, now that the drivers will load on boot each time it works For this using AMD graphics this is the AMDGPU-install flags I used amdgpu-install --usecase=workstation,opencl --vulkan=pro --no-32 --accept-eula This will ask to create a MOK password (make sure you enter one and CONFIRM else it will fail Then you have to reboot (make sure you have a display present) On boot you will get the blue MOK screen Follow instructions and then boot.

If she is using the web browser then it needs to be over https, or the browser will not allow access to Chromecast. Have you setup https on your Emby Server? If not, then have her use the Emby Android app instead: https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html

Would it be possible for Emby to not skip the 1st Episode Intro in a new Season when selecting the 'Automatically skip intros' option in the clients ? The Introskip Plugin had this option - and for a new Show especially, showing the Intro for Episode 1 (per Season) is actually nice to see (even if it has been correctly detected). Thanks.

Did more research and figured this out this is a bug in Chrome and Edge - You can fix it by going into the flags and setting #use-angle to D3D9 and this will fix it. Another solution is to use " the "Ultrawidify" add-on.

Agreed I also do see errors in dev tools saying that .ts files are missing. but the errors in the logs is a new behaviour in the recent beta (>=21) that is not happening in stable release to my best knowledge (cannot test at the moment). Hi, I ask to include "Merge Recently Added items" to avoid to load all libraries rows down to can see what is new. Not sure if this feature was already some years ago on Emby... I can't remember honestly. This feature could be very helpful to people that not include massive amount of movies at the same time and the "Latest Movies" can be showed in only one row in home screen to not load all libraries in "Latest Movies". This feature will not used by people that use only one big library for movies, but I know that many people organize their libraries by personalized categories or whatever. So the request is a simple check to merge/group all libraries or not. Of course every user can watch the allowed libraries only. Thanks in advance.

(Edit: To indicate that this might be thought of as a "Smart Collections" feature, perhaps similar to Smart Playlist functionality.) I'd love to see an Advanced setting, or a Plugin, that enables a List of Rules (which can be manually reordered by the user) that would match whatever pattern is defined in the rules for auto-adding items to a given Collection. These patterns could be set to match the file path (eg, match on "*\Disney\*" to match all videos with a folder "Disney" in their file path, and then add them to this Collection) or to match various item attributes, in particular Tags (eg, match if the video contains the Tag "Disney"). I could live without the following addition, but since there might users who will want to use pattern matching, but also want to be able to manually exclude certain items, perhaps we should also have the following: When a Collection is created there could be a default Final Rule (ie, the Rule which gets applied last, and thus has "final say") which would be "User manually Adds/Removes an item from the Collection." The user could of course move this Rule to not be final (which then would mean that the other pattern matching would take precedence), but whenever it is left as final it would mean that even if an item would normally be added to this Collection because of matching a path pattern (or attribute match), if the user manually removes it from this Collection then that manual action will take precedence (ie, the software would basically be making an internal record to exclude this specific item since the user manually removed it). I'm imagining that the rules would get applied whenever a Library scan is performed, but it doesn't really matter to me how exactly things get triggered as long as it is automatic. Here's an example of how all this would work.... Say I have folders with the following paths: \media\Videos\Shorts\Disney\CD1-Disc01 \media\Videos\Shorts\Disney\CD1-Disc02 \media\Videos\Shorts\Disney\CG-Disc01 \media\Videos\Shorts\Disney\CG-Disc02 And I want to populate the following Collections automatically: Shorts Disney Donald Duck Goofy I would create each of these Collections, and use the following corresponding rules per Collection to determine what each Collection will get auto-populated with: Shorts: Match Path "*\Shorts\*" Match Tag "Shorts" Disney: Match Path "*\Disney\*" Match Tag "Disney" Donald Duck: Match Path "*\CD1-Disc*" Match Tag "Donald Duck" Goofy: Match Path "*\CG-Disc*" Match Tag "Goofy" I know there is the Auto Box Sets plugin, but I'm wanting to add the same item to multiple Collections based on path and other attributes (particularly Tags), which as far as I can tell is way beyond how the Auto Box Sets plugin works (particularly given that many of my Collections are going to be of my own creation as opposed to Collections which have a TMDb collection id). I think that this functionality could be quite useful if implemented well. And perhaps some of the underlying code (eg, for a rules system, etc.) could be modularized/reused for other requested features (eg, maybe Smart Playlists?)? Thanks for your consideration! The above mad max example is expected behavior that they would be listed as 2 movies. Each version must begin with the folder name, followed by " - ". If this requirement is not met, they will be treated as separate videos.

I live in Sweden and want my metadata on Swedish. But I would like to keep the name of the movie in English. Most of the times the translation of the movie name is pretty bad, and no one knows what movie it is. So keeping the names in English and getting the resty of the metadata, where available, in Swedish would be great. Also, as it is now, since not all movies have metadata in Swedish, I get a movie list with mixed Swedish/English names. Dont look very good. Would look better with only English names. Maybe related to the original request.
