  1. Emby Team! You amaze me! What you've created and the level of assistance you provide is second to none. Thanks for all you do for us. Much appreciation. Cheers!

  2. We tend to shuffle shows in a long running series, such as friends, Tom and Jerry or Seinfeld. It would be nice if the shuffle function could have the option of just choosing from unplayed episodes so the same ones dont come up again. The same goes for watching items in playlists. I use playlist for content that is in show format but handled like movies; Looney tunes and old Disney cartoons. Thanks!

  3. The Problem I have a reasonably aggressive automation system that can process new episodes relatively quickly. This means they can end up in Emby sometimes within 10 minuets or so of them airing. What this means is you are usually stuck with the metadata that was available at the initial import time, sometimes missing titles, ratings, overviews. Yes there is an refresh every 30 days option in the library but that was not fast enough for me and I did not want to refresh the 10K plus episodes I have in my lib, just the recently aired ones. The Solution Refresh the newly aired episodes, say in the last 7 days, nightly. That is what this plugin aims to do. Source here: https://github.com/faush01/EpMetaRefresh The plugin is now in the Emby Server Plugin Catalogue under the Metadata area.

  4. ability to be able to add a collection into another collection. ie: Spiderman Collection into a SuperHero Collection. like i could with mediabrowser with shortcuts. TIA

  5. Having collections gets very confusing for some of my users because if they have their library set to sort by "date added" in order to show the newest movies first, they will not see some of the latest movies because they were added to an existing collection. Sorting by "date added" just sorts by the date the collection was created. Would it be possible to sort collections by "Date of last addition" or something similar? I like the collections feature, but when the newest movies "disappear" into a collection down the list somewhere it makes it confusing for many users.

  6. Apologies if this is a dupe with 190 pages of requests it is had to make sure. IMDB and themoviedb both have a lists feature and whilst i realize we cant use IMDB as a data source i use it here to show the concept (since it is easier to google examples that themoviedb). If a list could be the source of a collection tag it opens the door to some quite nice views. For example: TOP 100 BEST DISASTER FILMS https://www.imdb.com/list/ls002913604/ Top 100 Greatest Movies of All Time https://www.imdb.com/list/ls055592025/ Cult Pics https://www.themoviedb.org/list/120552

  7. Could you allow users to customize the order of movies in collections instead of only having it by alphabetical or by release date? Example: I want to have a collection of Batman movies, both animated and motion pictures but want the motion pictures together followed by all the animated ones. With the current order options, this isn't possible. Thanks!

  9. I would love the option to store Emby's database in MySQL - I have a setup that serves around 30 people and I feel that there would be real performance gains by using a proper relational backend over SQLite (I'm presuming). On top of this it would make life easier for me when reporting on watched status a cross users.

  10. Hi there, please add an Option to ignore a Subfolder in Emby (for example in Picture Library). Use of an .ignore File inside the Subfolder is not always usable because this hits other Applications too. Thanks and best regards Brudertac

  12. I was reading this thread.. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/117901-audio-books-are-not-resuming-from-last-position-played/#comment-1248464 Then it occurred to me that the chapter info of a .m4b could look better. I know it can't scan the file for a image frame like video but maybe it could just use the main audiobook image? It's a bit OCD for sure..

  13. Say I have a custom collection of 56 Christmas movies. During the Holiday Season, I would like to show this on the main page as a Library. Now, I could make a drive folder called "Christmas" and put these movies in that folder. However, now we're getting away from using metadata for organization and moving back to using folders for organization. Something you've spent the last few years trying to get away from. So each collection should have a toggle to show it as a library on the Home Page. Then people can make collections for Christmas, Halloween, Summer Romance, Summer Slasher Films, whatever and show them on the front page where they are easily accessible. Don't want to show it anymore, switch the toggle off.

  16. The i5-6500T will be fine for any h.264 quicksync transcodes but can not do 4k. If you want to do 4k transcodes you would be better off getting a 7th gen or higher. If you're in the states, I would recommend you look at used laptops on eBay, specifically ones with broken screens as you can get an 8th gen laptop for about $100. Heck you can get an 11th Gen i3 for just under $200. I use an i3-1115G4 as my server with everything stored on a NAS, and have no issues at all, even with 4k transcodes. Idles at 3-5 watts and most I've ever seen it use was 25 when it was doing intro scanning and creation. If you still want a "traditional" pc, here's an 8th gen mini for cheap.

  20. You are right (as was I initially, as I remembered it as such), when I went to produce example I noticed that I've changed wrong rating (tmdb instead of imdb) within the NFO, once correct rating changed, either Scan library files or regular Scan media library task read modified NFO and update Community Rating accordingly.

  22. Hey guys! I've recently started learning about samba. At the time of writting this plugin my understanding of Linux was limited. Recently, I have taken the time learn much, much more about Linux using Kali. There maybe issues with this plugin and samba shares. I haven't been on the forum in a while, but I think the base code for this plugin need to be looked at again to implement network shares better. I just have to find the time to get to know the base code again.

  28. Yea I guess a few users have been able to do this, but in our testing the server would not start running DSM 7.2 with the 7.0 packages. I think at this point we've put enough time into it that we're just going to move forward with separate packages for 7.0 and 7.2.

  29. @LukeI updated to Emby Beta 4.8.0.35 from 4.8.0.34 on my Synology DS918+ NAS running DSM7.2 using the Synology7 package with the INFO file tweaked to override os_min_ver. Again, no apparent issues. After several hours of using Emby everything seems good. I've attached the log that captures the update plus the subsequent usage. embyserver.txt

  30. I think it explains it perfectly. It's in the help text. Any ip address that doesn't match one of those two will be considered to be a remote connection, and therefore the "require password on local network" option does not apply to them. Additionally, the LAN networks setting will have no effect on whether you can remote connect or not. I would suggest blanking it out and clicking save.

  31. You are pretty much correct in that just about every advertising method shows Plex as the better media manager but that is because Plex spends money to advertise and Emby dose not, at least not near as much. Also, because Plex usually comes up first in searches for media managers people tend to install Plex more often than Emby. That then produces "confirmation bias" where people tend to say what they regularly use and spent a lot of time in is the "best." In some ways Plex is better: 1. If you do not want to run your own server then Plex is better than Emby because they have moved well away from local media management. 2. If you do not want or feel you do not need decent support then Plex is the way to go. 3. Plex is prettier and they spend lots of time making up their face. 4. Plex is easier to install if and only if you do not want anything the least bit unusual in you system. 5. Plex handles live TV a bit better if you use a standard tuner but they fail miserably if you have anything non-standard in your setup. I could not find a way to get an M3U tuner to work in Plex while I was super simple to do in Emby. 6. There are many other things Emby does better than Plex but Plex is prettier. And that is important to many people. Using searches to find things is often a pretty easy and accurate operation. However "search" only works if the data being searched is both reliable and accurate. Data for "What is the best media manager" is not currently accurate and is very unreliable. I will be honest here and say that when I first started being interested in hosting and playing my media locally the first one I tried was Media Browser which later became Emby and I thoroughly detested it. I then tried a very early version of Plex and I felt it was even worse. I tried several other media managers and used two for several years. Those both used Apache as a database manager and required. Both of those two are now defunct but before they became so I tried Plex again and was able to use it with little problem but "all good things come to an end" and Plex began changing and it became the media manager that I hated to use but I had no other reasonable choice. Then I tried Emby again and I was very pleasantly surprised. Gone were the issues that I hated in Media Browser and it was a slick manager that pretty much did what I wanted in that it allowed me to find and play my media locally and, other than that, usually stayed out of the way. It is still that way, mostly, but Emby has added/detracted from their user interface by trying to be too "pretty." Right now Emby is still way way ahead of Plex is the usability area and usability is the only thing that matters to me. I hope that answers some questions but remember that it is just one person's opinion and really of no more value than anyone else's. "Opinions are like a...holes. Every one has one and most are full of s..t."

  35. So I tested two different services, both of which being run through IPTVBoss to filter the channels prior to going through Emby (It appears Emby is still unable to sort the VOD content properly so it winds up being 10’s of thousands of ‘channels’. In Emby I haven’t seen a single stream above 720p but when testing the same link in the Smarters IPTV Player I am seeing 1080p and above. I unfortunately can’t understand the emby logs so I wasn’t sure if it was emby downgrading it or the filtering service. Appreciate you guys confirming it!

And that is Thanks to @VicMoorewhile we were having a chat on Teams and it really came about because of the lack of an ebook reader built into emby. I only just added in the Login screens for this new version. There is still soooo much work to be done, but the fundimentals are there and is just a case now of creating layouts Heres a wee video to wet the appetite. Hope you enjoy Iridium_01.webm

  42. My suggestion is related to this: Emby Theme Songs & Videos It'd be great if it would be possible to store them somewhere separately, possible in the same location, where the thumbnails, subtitles etc. are already stored. Reasons basically are, that I really don't want to mess up my media folder and that I'd rather not have the hard drives spin up each time I hover over a video, as the thumbnails are being stored separately on a faster SSD. I've recently bought the paid plugins, and it's unfortunate to see that they're useless for me, because of a feature that has fallen back over the years.

  45. Emby Team, I have several films that I took the trouble to find the correct English SRT files for - they're downloaded, in my 'Subtitles' sub-folder, and are correctly named using the exact same name as my media file. My SRT files **WORK FLAWLESSLY** in other players like VLC, because I took the time to verify they were the right ones for my media. BUT... I can't select that same ^%$#@! file in Emby! It keeps wanting to download the subtitle file on it's own from OpenSubtitles, or by asking me to upgrade to Premium. It's kind of infuriating, honestly - I love Emby (especially the Roku plugin), but not for subtitled media files. =( --Matthew Cook
