  1. Thanks guys. At least I've got an answer. I'll keep it in mind for the future.

  2. Some great ideas here! Initially I was just thinking along the line's of improving what we already have. But I like these ideas even better. Yeah lets hope the audiobook library gets some much needed improvement.

  4. I think the images are just there because it was an easy way to expose chapters using the code from the TV/Movie views. The Audible AP does a good job by displaying chapters as a tab view (similar to the lyrics display toggle in emby): Hopefully emby audiobooks will get more focus/polish in the future. For what it's worth, I feel the same about playlists. Displaying them with smallest picture and text with longer character strings makes much more sense - especially when choosing from "Add this to song to playlist." I should probably submit a feature request for that.

  5. Hi. There is no limit on users only devices but 50 users on your server is a bit out of the scope of our design as a personal media server for just your immediate family and close friends. If you are distributing content to that many users it is almost certain that you are violating the terms of distribution of the content and that is the situation we are trying to avoid with the device limits. We could charge money for higher limits but this will open our software up to much easier use as an illegal streaming platform. Such use only ends up hurting us because, eventually, one of those is discovered by content owners and then our name is associated with it and we get accused of running illegal pirating sites. The net result would eventually be that we would be put out of business and no one would have Emby. So, we choose to remain designed as a personal media server. You could convince one or two of these friends of yours to install their own server to serve their families and then this would alleviate the number of users and devices you are directly supporting. Thanks.

  6. Pretty simple suggestion. I have multiple users for my Emby server. If I want to do continuous maintenance on the media, I have to tell everyone. some of them are harder to reach than others ( i.e. no Facebook or Skype chat etc. ) It would be great if say... on the admin panel, I could hit a check box that enables 'maintenance mode', where the server still runs does everything as normal, but instead of the login screen it displays a maintenance page saying the server is unavailable. Even better if I were able to directly put a reason in a text box that would then display on the login screen as well. Not really sure what others would think of this, but for me it would be quite helpful. mostly if I want to make sure no one is trying to access content I know won't work until I've done a full library scan again. Thanks for reading. -Kyle

  7. Hello everyone - I have been away, but still had time for programming. I added to the plugin the ability to create new and manage existing Collections. I will soon add the ability to create and manage playlists. I have also fixed all reported bugs. Vic

  12. To me a list makes the most sense. I have quite a few audiobooks, and none of my content has unique images for a given chapter. Given that Emby historically hadn't had a lot of development towards improving the Audiobook experience, I had made the switch to Audiobookshelf (better metadata sources like Audible, the ability to add a single book to multiple series). I would much prefer to have everything handled by Emby, and some of the recent developments are compelling.

  13. I was under the impression that this is what ATV does : converting DV to HDR10 if the display device isn't DV compliant You can have a look at Vincent T.'s analysis regarding the subject ( up to 02:20 ) :

  14. It's not so much the power, it's the sound positioning and separation. The Q990B is obviously top of the line in Soundbars but at the end of the day, it is having to 'bounce' the 11.1.4 sound from a single location in front of the TV and rear upward firing speakers. Yes you need ceiling speakers and all the grief that brings, but if you have the dedicated room for it (and AVR capable of it) then it's the only real full justice to Atmos/DTS-X imho. (plus Dave wants to spend some money, so lets give him options !)

  15. The Q990B has more than enough power to fill a very large room, and the number of discrete channels that it has I think helps set it apart.

  16. It all has to do with the original digital conversion and whether it was done well plus whether it was done from original (or close to original) source material. I have some older stuff that is impeccable quality from the 1940's and up. Most of the undesirable noise comes from poor quality digitization and generational copies of source material. As an example, for people of my generation, Looney Tunes cartoons were copied over and over and over for TV use from the '50s through the '80s and were horrible washed out grainy and awful. However - my Golden Collection DVD stuff is crisp and colorful, because they came from restored first generation copies of original material

  18. If you want to use Tdarr. You can use this plugin to reorder your streams. Tdarr_Plugin_00td_action_re_order_all_streams_v2 It will reorder your streams like you want them.

  19. Similarly, if you are playing a TS file and, while playing, disable the subtitles, the app crashes. This is not true is the TS file is converted to a MP4.

  20. There is a disclaimer for the beta channel that recommends a re-install if you switch back to the stable channel. Is there a timeline for when 4.8 might be released? I would prefer not to re-install to move back to the stable version.

  21. Hi there, I'd like to request that maybe in future updates it is possible to change the way how email notifications look and to set up the notification text and style on my own. The most important notification for me is the New Media Notification at the moment. It would be great and maybe it is possible for the devs to get the user more freedom in art and style of the several notifications. Greetz

  22. The q990b is phenomenal. If your snug room means small then you might not get as much out of compared to a room that is well suited for it, but even still it produces great sound.

  27. Turns out that this was a Samsung issue as I found that I couldn't install via USB even after deleting the existing app. After a lot of fiddling about I had to do a full factory reset which fixed the issue and a few other niggles I had.

  29. Bacsuse both languages are the same, the Default will be set in the source file (use MediaInfo to check) but this can be overwritten and saved with the 'user' next time they play it. If you always want the default to be the other track, then you'll need to edit the source file and set the 'Default' flag to the other track. You use freely available tools on the internet (such as mkvtoolnix if it's an MKV file) to do this.

  30. Not supported on Fire TV (AndroidTV app), you can sideload standard Android app for that feature. https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Not a Roku user, but I would assume not supported either - I might be wrong, though.

  31. Yes, this tv show is tricky. In my library I set everything to themoviedb as my first scraper. This works best for all my tv shows and movies. I even get posters in my local language (german). It works for DB Z Kai, too. I renamed everything to 6 seasons and get the correct descriptions and titles. And FINALLY IT WORKS Thank you very much! Solution: I looked in the metadata manager and saw the that the number fields for season and episode are correct. BUT there was a difference in the field for the external IDs! Every other episode has an id set for thetvdb only. And those 2 faulty episodes have additionally set an id for imdb? I dont know why, but I just deleted the id for imdb and everything is fine! Btw: Why is there no field for themoviedb?

  35. No, it seems not to be reproducible. It seems to me that the problem started with 8.1.2 If this will continue I'll try reverting to 8.1.1 to see if this os fixed or not. I'll try also resetting addon one more time

  37. I’ve been thinking about this while developing Audirium… I did do what you requested and it looks really crap to be honest, so what im gonna do is blur the book cover and put a transparent black overlay and then name the chapters as Chapter 1, chapter 2 etc as those chapter images to display. Link if anyone interested https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/109753-audirium-standalone-music-app/#comment-1156221

  39. And yet, this is clearly what it is all about. If someone explains to me that it is a business model, I can totally understand it. But to tell me that this limit only exists because the team is afraid of being made an accomplice of illegal downloading makes me laugh softly.

  40. The real problem is that I have a dozen nephews, parents, in-laws, cousins, and just now we are over 25 individuals. You add my work colleagues (about 15), and the few close friends I want to help financially (yes, taking a package on netflix + disney + premium + OCS + Apple etc... is extremely expensive), and you quickly reach 50 people. And I haven't even started talking to my sports buddies yet. This limitation is stupid. The international legislation is clear: a tool that allows to share freely personal content, remains a tool. How you get the content is none of your business. Otherwise, as kikinjo says, you'd be worse than Tesla at blacklisting a car remotely because you think hacking it is against YOUR rules. Your position is clearly not adequate. Your limitation is purely arbitrary and does not take into account the original spirit of sharing that has allowed the internet to develop for over 40 years. But, in short, I understand your position. I am already installing another solution and migrating my media libraries to it. You will have earned an annual license paid for nothing, good for you, and a pity for your community which will only crumble by staying on a dogma of this type.

  41. The Bigger Picture It is clear where you're all coming from, assuming you need to do all those kinds of preparing media, pre-processing, pre-extraction and the likes. And I'm not afraid to name the cause: This was due to shortcomings of Emby. Emby just didn't do its job properly and you had to take measures to work around. But it shouldn't be like that. You should be able to just throw in the media you have and let Emby care about everything else. I think with the new subtitle features, we're making a huge step towards that and we're closing a long-time gap that has been a source of trouble and pain for many Emby users.

  43. Ah, you mean for accessing external APIs? Yes, maybe. I can show you another trick for that: Just run an URL from their documentation in the browser For example, in case of TV-Maze: https://api.tvmaze.com/seasons/1/episodes?embed[]=guestcrew Copy the full json output from the browser In Visual Studio, create a new class file and delete the class Then Edit => Paste Special => Paste JSON as Classes

  48. I would love to have the option of displaying a large banner-like image at the top of the homepage to showcase featured titles like Netflix does. Configuration options: Display image or video Play trailer w/ mute toggle switch Rotating list based on release date, newly added or custom Enable on homepage and/or within each category Thanks and keep up the great work! I look forward to seeing Emby's continuing evolution.

  49. To gauge interest... What if you had the ability to "Forget" a series for the purposes of Next Up display. That is, it would no longer show in Next Up - unless you watched another episode. Sometimes you maybe watch a series for a while and, even though there is more of it or more is made later, maybe it isn't as good as the earlier seasons or maybe you just don't have time for it anymore. So you'd like it to quit showing up in your Next Up list so it is less cluttered and you can focus on the series you are actually watching now. If you start watching it again, the "forget" would be forgotten and it would start to show up in Next Up again.
