  1. Don't go in expecting full Emby HW support for gen 12, 13 or Arc on Linux right now. Gen 12 might be getting closer but I don't think it's fully supported yet. Once gen 12 does make it to stable release it might be a matter of updating the kernel for 13th gen as I think the iGPU is the same.

  2. Not sure about the KB but could be in Tutorials/Guides section.

  3. You mean this? FR section has sort mode.

  4. Ah, so apparently there is a setting under Display -> Aspect Ratio that affects this. I'd assumed this was just to toggle the "stretch all 4x3 material to 16:9 like my grandma likes" mode, but there is also a Just setting in there that needs to be switched from Auto to On to fix this.

  6. I have created a Universal version of this project and dockerized it. I have also built a CI pipeline for its delivery. The repo for reporting your findings, feature requests, bugs and contributing: https://github.com/hooray4me/ustreamgen The latest docker image can be pulled from: https://hub.docker.com/r/hooray4rob/ustreamgen Readme's can be found in both places.

  7. I have updated all the metadata of the series library, after deleting all the *.nfo files from the folders, and it seems to work again. Tomorrow I will do more tests and confirm that the problem has been solved

  8. Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless

  9. I will but I hate that app's interface from 10 feet. I'll report back but it'll be a couple days before I get to it.

  10. Today, I would go for the 13500 or 13600 - both are amazing CPUs and iGPU's - (non F) - no need to spend the extra for the K unless you plan on overclocking it.

  11. @cayarsthis could be a great input for all a knowledgebase page. I will be moving my server to new hardware and had to look through the forum to find rbj's posts. Just a suggestion... @rbjtech, thank you for the input.

  14. Yeah, as long as you are willing to constantly be tweaking, updating and debugging it . Where you have arrived now is where the HTPC industry started a couple decades ago. It does provide for a very powerful and flexible solution but requires so much hand-holding and maintenance that it was never able to break into the mainstream. WMC was Microsoft's attempt to do that and they learned that it just was never going to make it on a mass market scale so they dumped it and, with the increases in net bandwidth and other tech advances, the streaming industry and box was born. So, as long as you are willing to do the work necessary to keep it all running, it is a very powerful solution.

  17. Yeah, I get that. Their pre-made boxes will have to do, for people not interested in building their own. Fortunately, for people willing, there are plenty of hardware and software options out there. I guess I finally reached the point that it's worth it (for me) to put in the effort to build my own. I'm finally getting used to Kodi, and love the freedom to choose my own hardware, OS, software, user interface, addons, remote, etc. Right now, I'm using a mini-pc that is more powerful than any streaming box you can buy. Faster cpu, faster/more memory/storage, etc. Sure, it costs more than a pre-made streaming box, but to me it's future proof, should remain overpowered for years to come, and I can always retask it as a pc or server later. As for LibreELEC/Kodi, I'm pretty happy with it. I finally got everything working just the way I like, and now I'm experimenting and customizing. I'm almost to the point of learning how to make a custom skin/interface, so I can get every screen exactly the way I want, move things around, add options, adjust fonts and colors, get the guide looking/behaving exactly how I like, etc. The Embuary skin is excellent, I really like it, I just wish some things were a little different. I'll start learning skins with that one. I'm already using my custom kodi box full time now, don't use anything else anymore. I may keep one of each of the pre-mades, to see how they evolve, and get ideas for my own interface. I'm pretty happy with the RF remote I'm using, LibreELEC does a really good job recognizing remotes, I didn't have to reprogram anything, it works as expected. I'm tempted to get one of the more fancy remotes out there, some are obnoxiously expensive, but there are a few really nice ones that are pretty cheap, but aren't RF, they are bluetooth, so I'll have to get that working, shouldn't be too hard to do. This has been a very useful learning exercise. I have learned a lot. Hopefully others will benefit from some of the stuff in this thread. I'm almost done. Maybe I'll document my build once it's finished, before moving on to another project.

  18. To be fair yes, but in the UK the BBC use it for their UHD broadcasts in iplayer. I'll just switch to the LG Emby app as that plays them fine. Android direct plays them, just in SDR. Thanks.

  20. I'm back! And with some bad news. I can't seem to figure out why movies act the way they do on raspberry pi. The code is exactly the same for setting up tv shows as movies. We just create a deeper folder structure for tv shows in top picks. I just don't know. It's disappointing to say the least, and I will gladly refund the plugin to you @Darkseidd. I believe there is a larger issue here then top picks. For instance if you were to create a library manually with strm files pointing to movies, you end up with the same issue.

  21. While the Samsung player can support increased playback speeds (in some cases) it plays without audio when playing at speeds other than 1x, which is sort of pointless.

  22. Thanks. I managed to export some CSV using the Reports plugin and then via some post-processing in Excel, I was able to find a few duplicates. Finding potentially misidentified movies is a harder nut to crack... For example, I found that Rise (2022) had been misidentified as Minions: Rise of Gru (2022). I'm not sure exactly how the Emby logic works there.

  23. Pretty much yes - 12th or 13th Gen iGPU is a fantastic choice for the current common h264 and h265 codecs. AV1 is a 'wait and see'. VVC or h266 is also starting to make noise. AV1 decode in hardware is now pretty common on any client device from 2022 onwards - so if your clients are on new hardware, then it's worth considering as a source codec (for direct play) - but personally it's too early (imo) to make a decision to convert an entire library to it over say hevc/h265 and source material availability on AV1 is few and far between. Give it another year before investing in the encoding technology - that's what I'm going to do. Either 14th Gen iGPU (av1 encode built in) or possibly even h266. To me AV1 is being marketed to save bitrate at the LOW bandwidth end of streaming / live streaming - I have no interest in this area, I'm really only interested in the high end where quality is paramount - and in these cases, 4K AV1 and HEVC are pretty much the same - or within a few % - certainly not worth changing entire libraries for over HEVC that's for sure.

  24. TMDB plugin is getting metadata, including desc and player list and all, but fails to fetch images due to certificate error. in the same computer i can open a browser, go to TMDB and download said image, and upload manually to emby with no issues. removing TMDB from images and adding fanart has been a good enough workaround as it can replace about 90% of the missing images. it is not perfect. bet as i do not know how and what to do to fix it, it is a good workaround.

  25. Update...I re-installed IMF and some played on box #1 (W10 fileserver) but nothing played on box #2 (windows 10 client). B2 is located in the living room and we use it to access our files from B1. I took a closer look at the files that did not play from B2 perspective and they were all MKV files. The MP4 files played just fine. So then I dl'd Matroska MKV codec and still the MKV files did not play from B2. Then went to B1 to try and play the same MKV files that didn't play on B2 and I got a notice saying ffmpeg wants to get access to the movie file so I clicked on allow and it played. I went back to B2 to play the same file and it played fine. Next going back to B1 to start play on the MKV files so I could get the notice about wanted to grant access and I did. They played fine on B1 and also B2. So from this I gather ffmpeg was being denied access and that is what kept B2 from playing the files because all is well currently. At first I thought it might be a browser thing because from B2 no MKV file would play through Firefox but would play using Edge?? However, after allowing ffmpeg access from B1 the filesalso played fine from B2. Gonna leave things alone for now as all is good. Cheers!!!

  28. There are no options to change this, and think it actually varies per client. I change it in the web client code but obviously that is the only client it affects. homesections.js change Limit:16 restart Emby Note this changes all Latest rows as there is no separation by type.

  29. Music files are tag driven. You'll find that with just about any music software. But adding options to use file names instead is certainly possible.

  31. Right, so lets say you prefer sort by date for most of your artists (just an example) but sort by title for just a couple and that our default is sort by title. Now you have to go change most of your artists individually to the sort that you want because changing one of them only changes that one - not all. So, your suggestion here only works well if you want our default sort for most of your artists.

  33. For me running Emby Server Version 4.8.0.21 beta, after I installed the A380 for handbrake encoding, Emby server would continue to crash. I had to uninstall the ARC software and drivers, using only the drivers that windows installs stopped my server crashing.

  35. HI, we found a solution and this will be resolved in Emby Server 4.8. If you need immediate relief we'll have a new 4.8 beta server with the fix sometime in the next few days.

  39. 1. In each library settings - remove all the Fetchers 2. Generate preview thumbnails = never (temporary) 3. In schedule - remove all the schedules for Scan library and scan metadata. 4. Re-start emby 5. After the re-start - come back to us on if you have control back. 6. If ok - then try a manual library scan as above. 7. no metadata is going to be got at this stage - but all the items should at least be listed and be available to play. 8. now add back the Fetchers 9. finally add back the thumbnails (this will take a while ..)

  40. A log would show what is happening, but the scheduled task (in the scheduled task admin section) does not necessarily indicate the task has completed. For a library that size - on a new install - depending on your internet speed and throttling by the providers - you are looking at multiple hours best case, multiple days worst case. there are various things that can be done to speed things up -local nfo files, removing providers, postponing chapter thumbnails etc - are all options - which is where @GrimReaper is likely going with this ..

  41. Sorry for sort of necro-ing this thread, but I've run into this issue again this week in trying to get Emby onto my daughters Fire - I really want to do this officially so that I can make the app available to her kids profile without resorting to workarounds. I've bumped into this issue before, and every now and then I try again just to see if there has been any update. However, in my most recent check I've also spotted that both Plex and Jellyfin apps are available to install via the store, which makes Amazon's refusal to allow Emby even more confusing. I know you've said that you've contacted Amazon about this several times previously, and each time you get a canned response, and at work having just pushed a new app to the Google and Apple stores, I can appreciate how hard it can be to navigate through all the automated responses, etc. However, as an alternative to continuing to get fobbed off by Amazon with automated responses, what about trying to publish the app again as a brand new app on their store? You currently have the "Emby Mobile" and "Emby for Fire TV" apps on their store, so what about doing a brand new submission of Emby Mobile (using the same APK/build) but as a new app just called "Emby". By publishing as a new app, it should hopefully be treated as it's own entity, without the history of the Emby Mobile app, and could possibly get accepted? I have to imagine at this point that the app is automatically rejected now simply because it has been rejected previously, and no-one/no system is actually evaluating the app from fresh each time. By using this approach, if the app is accepted you could just eventually retire "Emby Mobile", and move everyone across to the new "Emby" app knowing it supports a superset of devices, and if the app isn't accepted, you can delist it without much issue. It's just a thought, but I would really like to be able to add Emby to my kids Fire accounts, and it would be great if it could be done "officially". Other than that, please keep up the great work - Emby is absolutely amazing, and we'd be lost in our household without it!

  42. Not sure if you heard of this Kodi addon called "Skin Helper Service". It is capable of grabbing awards information from on-line via a listitem property called SkinHelper.Listitem.Awards. Although I am not 100% sure. I think it uses OMDb to grab the information.

  43. So if I created the mp3/ape/whatEver music files ages ago with my Windows that I got rid of years ago - I have to redo ALL the work now? That seems really lame! Can we get rid of the meta slavery? We don't use it with Movies/TV (nor do we need it) so why should we use it with Music?
