I would like the ability to force themes on apps from the server side. Such as holiday themes, halloween and christmas. OR, I would like to be able to set my own date ranges for holiday themes. I would like to have them run for a week, instead of a single day.

Emby Music Ideas In the beginning I want to say once again that I LOVE EMBY Because I love music same as movies. Emby now replaced all my Qnap apps, Plex, and maybe in the future even more? Some my ideas how to make Emby Music better (in my opinion): Music: Click on the TITLE to show on track the Playlist window - most of the times playlist is fixed position if you don’t scroll. I have 30k tracks, so it’s impossible for me to find actual playing song ———————————— Music: add “Play 100 Random Track” , “Top Rated”, “Never Player” - please, please, please ! Qnap made this very nice -> ————————— Settings -> Home Screen -> Music -> Default Screen: add: SONG from the drop menu. It’s my default place where I go. And maybe Favourite would be nice touch, as well ————— Add: Editing tab order Add: Favorite tab is missing ———— Add: Sorting by name, folder, date, time, size. Add: Visible Bpm, Size MB, Year info, when song plays. Add: 1-5 star rating for songs, would be nice. Add: Track number (!) Add: SEARCH box ! Please Add/Missing: Shuffle playlist - There is one Shuffle in the “Song” tab and when you press on the #tag. But missing on the actual player/playlist. Next to "loop/repeat" it's perfect place. ———— iOS Emby Music: I think me like many iPhone users love sliding across aps, photos, FB, Instagram, settings, when you actually don't have to press "BACK" button, or any other button but just slide... It would be amazing if we could slide "previous/next song", same as "volume up&down". ------ I'm not sure if it's even possible, but Emby it's more NAS tool. So maybe "Share this strack"? --------- Error/Bug: Missing "3 dots" for extra menu. I can't add song to favorite. ---------- Otherwise Emby "Music" is beyond what I could imagine Thank you Emby Team! I just installed the update and tested it. Everything seems to be fine now. The back button is working from a playing video all the way to the tvos main screen. The menus are also working. All videos are playing normally. No issues. Thank you, Luke.

I think this would be a nice feature to have. Maybe something similar to how windows media player handles this and the admin user can edit just by clicking on stars next to song. This would be easier and faster than having to go into metadata and change for every song you want to rate. This can be useful for smart playlists. If ten stars is too much then use five and have half a star counts as 1.

Hi I would like to request that, when viewing a collection, Emby groups items in the collection by their library type (Movie, TV Show, Music etc). Currently all members in a collection are mixed together under one heading labeled "Items", as shown here: Here is a mock-up of how I think it would look: As you can see above, the Alien Collection has both movies and sounds tracks, and so I think they should be grouped together. Thank you Luke and the team, this is fantastic progress for Audiobook support! I do see the Chapters in the web UI (Microsoft Edge on Windows 11) running server version 4.7.8.0. Though I must mention that I don't see this available in the clients I listen to audiobooks most commonly, that is Android (Emby v3.2.77) on a Google Pixel 5 and iOS (Emby v2.2.5) on an iPhone SE 2022. However, when I touch and seek forward or back, I do see within which chapter I'm seeking through. If this is the extent of chapter support in these two clients and is by design, it seems a significant shortcoming. I hope it will be further expanded. It's preferable to be able to skip to the exact start of a chapter. Oddly, I do see Chapters on iPad (mini 4). It appears similar to the web UI. It would be great to have this on the phones. I don't have a larger screened Android device with which to test whether the Chapters would show up there. I'm guessing if it were to be there on an Android tablet, then that means "Chapters" option appears (or doesn't appear) depending on the device's screen size. It wouldn't be ideal. I also do agree with destari that the chapters UI could perhaps use a tweak to look like a playlist with timestamps instead of video-type style currently used. I do thank you and appreciate the work regardless.

Hey all - I am trying to update the server via console, and I am getting this error: **edit .. it seems the server was updated to 4.7.8.0 nvmd abt the error i guess!

Problem was fixed in version 4.8.0.12 beta Have tested it with several movies in the format HEVC profile Main 10. Hope the fix is then also adopted in the next stable release.

Since I don't like things not working as they're supposed to, I have an update. On a whim I swapped out the Seagate with an SSD and it seems like that has fixed the problem, at least with a short test this morning. I will give it a more thorough test this weekend, but there was no pausing in the live playback, and DVR scrubbing seemed to work as expected. I'll give a more complete update once I can run the DVR function for a longer duration.

** UPDATE ** There are two seperate plugins on this page - you will need to read the thread to see which one (or both) is best for you. The original plugin (Actor Web Scraper) works at the server dashboard, it cannot be used or accessed by clients. This is my first proper working attempt at this. Its a bit clumsy but works. I may revisit this one and update it, but for now it is what it is. The newer plugin (Custom Person Provider) is internal and works when you click an Actor card, it is also triggered by clients. (but configured from the dashboard which they cannot access). This plugin can quickly be turned on/off in the config page. ----------------------------------------------------- This is the first working beta release - special thanks to @roaku for their help getting the javascript on the webui working It only scrapes one actor at a time, im not going to do one that hits these websites continuously for the whole lot in one go so don't ask. Please feel free to try it, test it whatever. Built with net standard 2.0, so should be compatible with most emby releases. I have added linux support but have no way to test it - so let me know if it works Feel free to suggest anything it lack or improvements that could be made. Docker uses an isolated network. Is the Docker in "Host" mode? With the xTeVe approved Docker, DNSForge or Alturismo Docker, They both use 34400.

For av1 decode then yes, you can use the igpu's but for encode, only the arc gpus (and the 4090 lol) can do this. From @VirulentPip hw encoding is very fast vs the painfully slow sw encoding. But the idea of av1 is to direct play .. its currently not useful if you need to transcode, so I may have misled you slighly with my earlier reply. My advice is to just use the uhd 7xx for the moment and wait out the av1 options .. that is what i am doing.

Just wanted to say i had a backup in a fireproof safe which i do in case of absolute emergencies and this backup had a emby database from 3 months ago, i replaced with this one and it works, thanks for the help guys, remember to have many backups EDIT: All seems to work, but i am worried that emby may have changed some tables in the db that only gets added/modified upon updating emby, time will tell if things continue to work properly or if i eventually run into trouble.

Transcoding from AV1 only requires the Decoding part, it will then encode into H264. That is of course once Emby add HW AV1 Decoding for AV1 for transcoding. But then you'd need to get the AV1 files somehow, so without a graphics processor to encode to AV1 you'll be left with software encoding.

Great ideas nusuzst! I too am a huge music fan. I still use JRiver Media Center for my personal playback currently but would love to get to where we can be an all Emby house for consumption!

+1 for this feature request. Playlist view is a deviation from the rest of the UI of library view of TV/Movies. Watching on a TV, the list view makes thumbnails hard to see as they become a fraction of the size in regular libraries. Is it also possible to get a grid view within Playlists?

+1 for this. Would be great to be able to turn on the holiday theme for all clients.

Arrow keys are supported already in TV mode, just FYI. Or if you start focus by tabbing, then you can navigate with arrow keys.

Doubling back on this. The Intel QuickSync chart below, indicates that 11th gen Intel processors with embedded UHD 750+ GPU will be able to decode AV1 & AV1 10 bit. Is it safe to assume this is sufficient for Emby's transcoding purposes once implemented or would it need to both decode & encode, requiring a dedicated GPU to add this functionality? Appreciate any & all guidance on this.

Yup, I have also.. with the swag docker image. Just started to be a problem in the last month or so and only with the Android tv and Firetv players. IOS and Windows EmbyTheater are still working great through ngnix(swag). I've bypassed nginx for now, on the firetv and androidtv clients. I'll try and find some time this weekend to compare your proxy config with what I got.

No. What you are seeing in that log is simply the app stopping the stream - which it probably did after an error. I've found with my Shield that after a few weeks (maybe its around 30 days) I have to reboot it or everything has problems (YouTube as well as Emby). Its like it builds up some sort of memory clog that slows all network comms down but a reboot makes it all work fine again. I have the Tube version as my daily driver.

Hi. Live TV is a Premiere only feature for both apps. We haven't figured out how to handle the unlocking between the two yet - one of the reasons it isn't in the store - but it will work if you are Premiere.

Nothing, in my eyes, should try to mimic what apple does. They are the worst UI devs IMO and just change stuff to no real benefit. They were pioneers at one time, but alas they have lost their way, but they did set the standard which is still being used today, so have to give them credit for that. @Happy2Play Yeah this seems to work just fine! I query the library: MinPremiereDate being in the last 6 months, and MinDateCreated being within 28 days ago. I don't think it needs to be much more complicated then that.

Yes but that does nothing for the community rating. I don't favorite songs, I rate them and use smart playlist. The same songs may be in multiple playlists. Also if you could see the stars, it would make it easier for people looking for songs to find them. I use my music throughout my home and I have a touchscreen set up outside for party's. Did you ever go to an artist and say to yourself (What was the name of that dam song). Having rated that one song, and having the rating show would be extremely helpful.
