  1. I want to bump this and say that a music visualizer — ideally including the now-playing title and artist — would be vastly better than dropping into a screensaver. This would be especially great for those of us who use the TV system (Apple TV/Surround System) for primary music playback. It's a trivial luxury, of course, but it would still be pretty great.

  2. Emby client official on steam would be a great thing. With build-in emulator support it would go through the roof

  3. There does appear to be something weird going on w.r.t. access. My server is on my old Synology, which is dual-homed on 192.168.2.34 and 192.168.3.34. My "admin" machine is on 192.168.3.0/24 network, running Fedora 36. Firefox has no problems accessing my Emby server. My macOS machine is also on 192.168.3.0/24 network. I cannot access the WEB interface using Safari or using Chrome. I can see from the logs that certain requests are coming in and are satisfied: .. but then the browser eventually times out and a claim the versions are incompatible is made. Can I make a suggestion? How about having meaningful, accurate, error messages? Initially, I had to dig into the logs to determine that things were failing because of a permissions problem (when I was trying to add /volume1/music, it just failed to show me anything of the contents -- no error, no indication that anything was amiss -- the issue was that `emby` user had no perms on the /volume1/music folder). This current situation would also benefit from accurate error messages. I have been chasing this "version incompatibility" problem for at least a day now. Not really getting much closer until now. Here is a packet capture/analysis for an attempt to access "http://onas.zepherin.com:8096/". I see that it gets redirected to /web/index.html. I see that the "GET" for "/web/index.html" times out eventually in the browser. Turns out, this is a jumbo frames issue. I have jumbo frames enabled on all (most) of my devices locally, and supposedly in the switches. They are all Unify kit, and, as I am re-discovering, Unify *still* only pretends to support jumbo. They have nice GUI elements to enable it, but it is still non-functioning. So far, my successful WEB access to my Emby server has been thru Qubes-os, and I know jumbo is not enabled there, so I assume MSS is being set appropriately to avoid problems. Curiously, with JUMBO broken on the Unify switch both server and client are attached to, and MTU=9000 set on the NAS server and on a bare-metal fedora instance client (FireFox), it works fine, even plays music fine, even though I see that the client is attempting to send something back which never gets ACKed as the frame is >1500. Sigh. I guess it is time to turn off Jumbo again on all my stuff.

  4. @Luke@chrysler300 Hello- Made a complete snapshot of a typical experience for me today. Approx 11:25A (7-27) set three individual recordings using guide data in Emby server running on my Synology DS 218+ NAS: 11:30A start of 30 min program / 12:00P start of 3 hour program / 3:00P start of 1 hour program. First recording perfect. Second recording quit at 121 min duration. About 20 mins later I discovered failure and restarted second recording. Second recording completed the three hour guide schedule... all good. 60 min scheduled third recording started and completed perfectly. During entire 4.5 hour period there was zero other activity on the NAS. No other Emby playback, no other apps running, etc. Log attached. Hope this can help give some idea of what is happening. Thank you. embyserver.txt

  7. I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. Let's here your though if Emby developer should consider adding this feature to our beloved Emby Media https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=Plex+Watch+Together&qpvt=plex+watch+together&FORM=EWRE

  8. I think it'd be nice if there was an option to bookmark parts of videos so I could quickly jump to my favourite parts.

  9. I'd like to have the option to clear 'alerts' in the dashboard. I realize that they go away on their own, but if I can clear them then it's more obvious IF a new alert comes through.

  10. No not really, I expressed an opinion and tried to justify it. You simply disregarded my opinion providing no explanation whatsoever. The way I understand your response is... you didn't like what I said because it goes against what you think and as such you decided what I wrote is not worth anything. Hence your reply is not constructive at all and it's only purpose was to vent some emotions (whatever they might be) on your side. I was going to write a retort to your reply, but it would be a waste of bits. As shown in this thread. Very unbiased. Much objectivity. Tho it ain't terrible. But you I wouldn't go as far as saying "pretty good". It is "pretty good" when it works. I am not claiming I can do better, I have no time (yet) for such things. But it's the same as when watching football... you don't need to be able to play it to understand a bad play.

  11. Gents, thanks to your suggestions I have managed to fix users permissions using this command: sudo chown -R emby:emby /var/lib/emby/ [where emby is a name of the user as well as a group] The server is up and running. THANK you very much for pointing me into the right direction - much appreciated!

  13. Waiting for the 4.7.X maintenance releases to slow down because given a review process that takes several weeks it will actually take longer if we try to submit every single one to Synology. So we'll have a 4.7.6 release any day now and then ideally we'll submit that one to them.

  14. Yes I would use MinPremiereDate and just make the calculation on your end of what that value should be.

  15. Hi, what is the translation of that error message? Can you please attach the emby server log from when you tried to create the user? Thanks.

  17. I appreciate the suggestion, but I'm not a fan (and more importantly, my wife is not a fan) of the Infuse UI. Also, I'm not keen on the idea of paying for another product so that I can use the product I originally paid for (lifetime premiere) when it was working just fine two versions ago. In my opinion, this is a bug that is breaking a core feature that was previously working and should receive priority attention as a break/fix issue.

  18. Good morning, any progress on this issue and/or ETA of a fix? It's been over a week since I've been able to watch any of my 4k content on Emby.

  19. I have a Roku Streaming Stick+ with system software version 11.0.0 4193-50 and version 4.0.55 of the Emby app. The seek behavior has changed significantly and seems to be a step back for UX: Instead of 3 advance/reverse speeds there are now 9, which means that the user has to press the FF or RW button 9 times to seek at the highest speed. 9 speeds doesn't really add much value - e.g. does anyone really need to seek at 8x instead of 9x? When the app reaches the highest seek speed (after 9 button presses) an additional RW or FF button press reverts to the slowest seek speed. When pressing repeatedly to get to the top seek speed you need to count presses and/or slow down as you approach 9x or you start over at 1x. Repeatedly pressing FF or RW should not wrap the seek speed - it's definitely counter-intuitive Top seek speed is significantly slower than it was previously. High speed seek is very useful - current seek speed seems ~50% slower. I believe this change is referred to as the "custom seeking interface" - does "custom" mean it's customizable? If so, I could not find any seek customization settings in the app - am I missing them? Thanks! RJ

  20. You can't view 3D movies if you use the browser, right. That's why I use Skybox.

  21. I can't say in the near future, no, sorry. There is an existing FR for this but it hasn't gotten much support and implementing it would be quite complex, I'm afraid.

  22. Yes please.....automatic collections are not only stupid but it doesn't actually function correctly It makes collections out of single movies, WHAT?, or makes collections that are not actually collections....or it misses films that should be in the collections it created. PLEASE....remove this incredibly stupid feature from emby asit is RUINING the experience. I want my collections but now I can't even find mine because I have 320 collections of which I have created only a 10 or so. This is a completely useless and even worse a poorly implemented feature....that actually isn't a feature but a hindrance. If I hadn't bought Premiere and was on a monthly sub I would cancel because of this non feature.
