I wanted to follow through with my original thought of having a curated source of Chomaprints for theme intros for Tv Shows on a service. So I put together a web site: https://themeservice.azurewebsites.net/ And wrote a simple IntroDetection app to allow people to experiment with this idea. You can grab the tool here: https://github.com/faush01/ThemeService/releases/tag/0.0.0.1 This is all written in c# .Net Core 6, both the web service and the Detection tool, all code is available here: https://github.com/faush01/ThemeService The idea is "people" enthusiasts or people interested in helping extract the Chormaprint data from a TV Series and upload just the Chromaprint data to the above site. At the moment it is a free for all, just create an account and you can submit Chromaprint data. The IntroDetection tool then uses the above Web Service to get Chromaprint data for Series you have locally and tries to "find" the theme intro in a simple sweep search. If a theme is found it outputs a json file with the details of the match. Eventually this can be written back to your data source (in this case Emby) as chapters using a plugin I am writing. Why you might ask is this better than the original idea of comparing episodes in a season? well it is not better it is just different, it requires a curated source of Chromaprint into data that is maintained my the community but in the end it should give better detection results as the search data is crafted for the best outcome. In theory this works but it does require community input to build the Theme Service data so who knows if there is interest in that.4 points

I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. Let's here your though if Emby developer should consider adding this feature to our beloved Emby Media https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=Plex+Watch+Together&qpvt=plex+watch+together&FORM=EWRE1 point

I am switching over from a Win7 box running MBC to Chromecast dongles. With the Win7 box I had a HDMI to Cat6 setup that allowed me to stream to up to 4 displays/TVs simultaneously. It was great while it lasted, but involved stapling cables to the ceiling to run it from room to room - plus it has borked Can there be an option to multi-cast to several receivers at once? i.e. simultaneously play to Chromecast dongles in my office and living room and kitchen simultaneously so i can walk from room to room without stopping and restarting the movie or show all the time? I realize that bandwidth could POTENTIALLY be an issue, but i have a fill gigabit network and a multi-port NAS so that really is the least of my worries... Thank you!1 point

You may want to read this 2 page thread. Scroll down the first page to recent this week posts. There is another method you can use with Hauppauge that just became available thanks to current ongoing work in Live TV the team has been doing. I honestly don't know when direct support will be available but the new framework used in that thread is likely how direct Hauppauge support will be added as well. Changing the plugin framework however was a needed step. The new framework actually makes it much easier to use several tools in a similar manner. Take a look and I think you'll like it, especially since it's available now.1 point

Emby's in the new Plugin frame uses NextPVR like a tuner. So guide, scheduling, recording all take place in Emby and will be stored where ever you have your DVR recording set to. But I think you're asking a simpler question of which system does the recording and that's Emby. I want Intelligent recording as well and I bet we could both create a list of "must have" features too.1 point

Great. That was what I was going to suggest you try. Well done.1 point

Hi there! Because our plugin is editing chapters, and not utilizing the latest updates in emby, it is conflicting with the core implementations. Therefore, the plugin will be blocked from loading in the next beta update. We can change the plugin to not alter chapters and cause these conflicts, and it will load again. But for the time being, the plugin and the core versions do not play nice together, so the plugin will be disabled. We'll get it fix as soon as time allows. Thanks! Ben.1 point

Hello guys, sorry busy few days, I was able to port forward on the router yesterday, which seemed to have fixed the problem via Happy2Plays advice, still ensuring it's all stable. Restarting the router did not work for me, not sure exactly what changed recently, but no networking changes happened on my end from what I can tell.1 point

Hey Thanks for that, i would love to test but one of my Google drives got nuked today and my backup 2 were constantly trying to sync and got api banned lol. So alas i cannot test until tomorrow afternoon once the api ban is lifted I apreciate it and will report back when i get a working system again1 point

I routinely run it simultaneously. Have tested up to 3 separate instances without issue.1 point

Both but it sounds like your current issue is just with the xbox.1 point

Hi. That's the reason as the app/device needs to validate. The other devices are still working because we cache a successful validation for a bit just for this purpose - so you don't lose service in a temporary outage. However, any new device is not able to validate until the connection is working again.1 point

I'm happy to report that it works and it does so really well. Using the plugin plus Next Pvr as a tuner was my preferred approach over a M3U source, so I tried @cayars and @Luke's guidance. * Install Emby 4.7.0.38 beta * Remove my existing WinTV tuners from the Live TV menu * Remove existing channel guide * Install NextPvr plugin * Restart Emby * On the NextPvr side enable both "Remote Access" and "Unauthenticated Access" for good measure (not sure if both are needed though) * Once Emby is back online go to Live TV menu and Add TV Source * Select Next Pvr as the source and, in my case, leave the default values. Save. * Back on the Live TV menu add a Guide Data Source (enter country, select Emby Guide Dta, zip, and select correct lineup) All my channels were correctly mapped from the start. However, the guide was empty and would remain so even after a guide refresh and another Emby restart. To fix this, re-map each channel by Editing it (in the Live TV -> Channels screen): select Guide data source = none, save, then re-edit, select Guide Data Source "Emby Guide Data...", make sure the correct Guide data channel is selected, Save. Boom, the guide data updates. I am now able to make use of all tuners without WintTV. If Next Pvr and the link between it and Emby is stable, then this will make my Emby install basically maintenance free.1 point

As stated, the version is still the same and need to test for the codecs and tags are working. It's slightly larger because i've added a heap of code for the adhoc title being inserted into the BBFC ratings, but i also need to finish that, hence the reason it's disabled for this release.1 point

Not sure what happened but all of sudden today its working. lol. Maybe i had my password wrong on Open Subtitle plugin or something as I just went through all the options and rebooting a few times. Can't wait for the Forced Subtitles Auto download will make it much better. Sorry for the trouble1 point

@CassTG Here is the latest update - Still Version 1.0.0.7. Can you please test this for codecs and tags. It's working for me on Windows, but i know it's important to you and i think you are Linux. Much appreciated. VantagePoint.dll1 point

So I have nearly sorted the audio, video and tag issues. They are added to the introplay list but for some reason are not playing, a couple of things to figure out here! But here is something cool that the Brits might like.... not sure how it works for foreigners (MPAA, FSK, AUS) - if you have the movie title displayed on your Rating Certification However i've devised a way to dynamically insert the title into the BBFC Rating Slides.... All i need to do now is to work on the logic for when to use this and allow the user to enable it. Here is a short video that shows the text slide, dynamically taking the movie input amending the image with the title and overwriting the original one. creating a movie from the jpg is childs play. this is just using a test library. Hope you like BBFC Dynamic Title Coolness.mp41 point

What problems have you had with the MacOS application? You can try Infuse. Although this is a third-party app, it works very well with Emby. Infuse 7 - An Elegant Video Player | Firecore1 point

I used semicolon (;) in between all entries and obtained the desired effect. I did not try regular comma but I'm sure it would have worked too. I was using forward slash (/) as another delimiter and it was causing other problems, so I replaced all forward slashes with spaces, and all came out well. So evidently forward slash also works as delimiter similar to semicolon and comma. I don't know why the instructions in MP3Tag say to use double backslash (\\). For sure that one did NOT work. Maybe both Happy2Play and wordlover should give their advice to MP3Tag folks since it doesn't look like they know their own product. Anyways, it all worked out fine...thanks to you both for info.1 point

It has actually. If you install the 4.7 beta, there is an updated nextpvr plugin in the catalog.1 point

It looks like you did a manual connection to your http address, that's not going to work from the https version of the emby web app because the browsers don't allow that. You either need to connect using your https address, or use the http version of the hosted web app, http://app.emby.media1 point

You may want to give this a try as I think you'll like this setup a lot better. Requires Emby Server 4.7. Download and install the latest beta server version if 4.7 isn't released yet (at time of reading) Install and setup NextPVR (same or different machine). Configure NextPVR for your tuner and remote access. No need to add guide data if the only use is Emby. Install NextPVR plugin from the catalog and configure it to access NextPVR (easy). Add Emby Guide Data then verify channel mapping. Test/Try it. 4.7 version of Emby uses a new Plugin Framework for TV. The new framework changes the way Emby uses other services through plugins. The new plugin framework's main job now is to present a new "tuner" to Emby. Emby now treats like any other tuner or m3u. This allows Emby to treat it like any other tuner. You now setup and use Emby Guide Data. All recording setup, playback, saved recordings are handled by Emby. PS Don't forget to register/donate to NextPVR. They've been great supporting us and helping to test the new plugin framework. https://www.nextpvr.com/donate.html If you have any questions feel free to reach out and ask for help, Carlo1 point

@cayars Your last reply on this thread was from November 2020. Have you heard anything from the development team on where this is? For me Emby has worked perfectly except for this one issue.1 point

Every single-season show I have has specials anyway, but I've always gone with calling the season "Episodes" and then calling the specials "Extras". Makes it look a bit neater.1 point

Have you restarted your Router? But you could try manual port forwarding instead of UPNP>1 point

I had just got done helping someone who was rather demanding and adamant we change our software so he didn't have to follow our naming guide and could keep his crazy layout /genre/year/director/movie or show. Besides, there's quite a difference between that and a polite feature request so I'm sorry for tone, but know it wasn't really directed at you. PS removed the top line so it's a bit less snarky.1 point

Thank you. It works perfectly! All my missing Actor photos is showing now. Your work save my time.1 point

More Progress. Fixed Playing of local trailers after online trailers. New plugin DLL Below same version, so as not to mess up the plugin catalogue numbering Drop this into EmbyServer/ProgramData/plugins and overwrite. Version is 1.0.0.7. Make sure you restart emby server and test 3 things for you to test Codec folder - Should be working. The way this works currently is it will just select a random video file in your codec folder now and play it. I'm working on implementing a better way to display video, audio. Ratings should play the correct Rating now. Local trailers (ones in the folder named "movieName-trailer.mp4") will now select a random one and that after the online ones, this also respects if you have "only play unwatched trailers" enabled. Should have a full solution for the codecs by the end of the weekend. I will need some testing and reports back before i release to the store again. Thanks everyone VantagePoint.dll1 point

Probably too late for this but...please consider adding an option to side load the time marker data with the media or add to nfo. For people who have more than one emby server, it means scanning media for intros only once. It would also make it much easier to recover from, say, an os drive loss in which the emby data was lost with regards to amount of time needed to recover all features. (I know, I know backups, but it still happens.) I really wish thetvdb would add intro marker time stamps. I know not all media is timed exactly alike so this wouldnt be as accurate but a lot less resource intensive.1 point

@ellisdustin was very helpful. He found the audio errors in the logs. I should have found those myself. It's funny that I spend many hours/week looking at log files, and didn't bother to crack open the Emby logs. I guess I just get tired of looking at log files. Edit: In hindsight, this statement by me was incorrect. "I HAVE done everything I can to troubleshoot this issue before I posted here". I didn't go through the logs myself.1 point
