Hi, this is resolved in the upcoming update to the emby apple TV app. Thanks.2 points

Hi, We are working as hard as we can to get it released as soon as possible. Thanks.2 points

So basically this. I have TV Shows, Movies, and Anime libraries. For anime; I'd prefer to set the default to Japanese with Subtitles. For movies, English and no subs unless forced. For TV Shows, the same. However, Emby only allows one overall setting this for this, for all libraries, instead of just one. I think it'd be a pretty nice little feature.1 point

Little Windows executable that performs a graceful shutdown of both Emby and the server once no more users are logged on. More info, a Windows executable, and the source here. Note that this is written in Net6 so versions of the executable could be made for non Windows operating systems. If you would like a different operating system supported, let me know.1 point

I have a fairly large movie collection (5k+) starting with films from the 1920's and in the absence of "smart" playlists how about a filter by decade option? Filtering by year works, but if I want to watch something from say the 1950's I have to start navigating from the 1930's and work my up to the 1950's which is quite a few number of pages. Another option might be to have Years running vertically much like the alphabet when viewing by title.1 point

One thing the streaming community hasn't done well is really create tools that allow us to simulate live TV well. I think the biggest reason that binging on Netflix (and Emby) is so popular is because you push a button and go. I'd like to see Emby create a "To Watch List" that basically allows you to sort shows into a specific order. When you watch that list, it will only play the most recent episode of each show in the list that premier inside that week. Lets pretend I made a DC TV Watch list, it would only play this weeks episode of Arrow, Flash, Legends, Supergirl and Gotham one after another. If an episode didn't premier that week, it gets skipped. Additionally, I'd like to see this system *ALSO* allow us to insert bumpers similar to Cartoon Network or Toonami. In the here and now, it would only insert bumpers between the series, but it would be nice if in the future, a system that allows some method for choosing the appropriate points between each act of an episode where bumpers could also be inserted. Bumpers would be a community thing to create, but inside the "to watch list", you'd choose what bumpers (if any) are used. Bumpers could even be surrounded by previews. Finally, another thought: while Emby already can pull Movie Trailers, it might be another cool future project if we could pull previews of related series not in the "To Watch List" and/or perhaps ones that aren't on your server that are similar to what you are watching. There's a lot of ideas in this post to digest and several should be their own project as part of this concept. Thoughts1 point

I know there is already the option to update the metadata of a library every 30, 60, or 90 days. The problem is when new TV episodes are added to the library before the metadata provider has a chance to add the information, often things like the episode title or the plot are missing. The information is usually up to date a few hours later. It would be great if TV episodes could be refreshed automatically at a set interval, say 6 hours, after being added to the library.1 point

I wouldn't think that would be the case. 32Gb isn't that big. Many of us use 64, 128, 256 pretty routinely I've got thumb drives up to 8 TB that work with everything I've tried including my Samsung TV. Sounds great but it's a bit bigger than Big Lighter which is ok I guess, but too darn slow (very slow). I'd rather have 1 TB that's fast but had to try one as they were 50% off on Amazon. Should have been 75% off. The problem is likely that it wants Fat16 so maybe just reformatting the existing thumb drive at any size will allow the TV to read the thumb drive correctly.1 point

@ellisdustin was very helpful. He found the audio errors in the logs. I should have found those myself. It's funny that I spend many hours/week looking at log files, and didn't bother to crack open the Emby logs. I guess I just get tired of looking at log files. Edit: In hindsight, this statement by me was incorrect. "I HAVE done everything I can to troubleshoot this issue before I posted here". I didn't go through the logs myself.1 point

Confirmed. It's fixed. Emby works fine now. Thanks for your help ellisdustin.1 point

Is there development for this feature? I really miss the decade filter, filter year by year is useless for me. Thank you to consider adding it.1 point

You suggested to run a library scan, that caused me to realize that I can just delete all 47,245 srt files and let emby start over with srt files. That's much easier than choosing which of the files to keep. thanks1 point

Is it possible to reduce the log level to warning or error? Info is far too verbose for normal usage since it constantly spits out the HTTP requests and makes reading through a log to find an error a nightmare, especially on a tablet since you have to scroll through literally thousands of lines of HTTP output to get to anything useful.1 point

Understood and the server will provide more control over this in future updates. Thanks1 point
-
hi, it's hard to say without looking at a specific example but yes you can delete the duplicates and then run a library scan1 point

Doesn't sound like an Emby problem to me. I am just a user, but I have Live TV set-up and working just fine. I have used both HDHomeRun and Hauppauge. You mention that not only is Emby giving you trouble, but also a PC and a TV attached. Help desk technique 101: What have you changed recently? Have you tried power cycling all of the equipment from antenna to viewing device? Have you checked all connections between antenna and viewing device? Have you checked or inspected any splitters (shouldn't have any, but...)? Have you run a channel scan (just in case the signal freq. have changed)? Do you have all of the devices running most current versions of software/firmware? Have the trees between your antenna and transmitters begun to show signs of spring growth? Using the Hauppauge tuner, what do the signal strengths look like? Just because one device can receive a decent signal, does not indicate that your antenna system is working 100%. I assume that each device has its own cable (from a splitter???) which introduces different problems for different devices. Suggestion: I am just a user, and if moderators feel it appropriate to remove my post, I would understand. But in reading your initial post from Wednesday (4 days ago) until today, to jump from "Help me" to "Not feeling too confident about subscribing..." seems to be a quick shift. My experience on this forum has been awesome. Every question or request has been addressed not only by Emby staff, but also other users. If you help yourself a little, seek help when you have exhausted your abilities or knowledge, THEN reach out for assistance and be a bit more patient in your DEMANDS for assistance. I am more than willing to help in your attempt to further your knowledge, but it won't take long for this user/help desk tech to transfer you back into the call queue and let you sit on perpetual ignore.1 point

Time to bump this thread. Again I'm for @GrimReaper's idea of having a search toggle.1 point

+1 would love a scheduled task that would scan for missing metadata in tv shows for the whole library instead of having to do it manually.1 point

In 4.6.7.0 with TVDB v3 api this is not possible at all. <GuestStars>|Avaah Blackwell|Emily Coutts|Emmanuel Kabongo|Julianne Grossman|Oded Fehr|Oliver Becker|Oyin Oladejo|Patrick Kwok-Choon|Ronnie Rowe Jr.|Sara Mitich|Sonja Sohn|Stephanie Belding|Tara Rosling|</GuestStars> In 4.7 with TVDB v4 you will get this info. { "id": 65686479, "name": "Andorian Regulator ", "peopleId": 447300, "seriesId": 328711, "episodeId": 7862365, "type": 4, "sort": 0, "isFeatured": false, "url": "", "peopleType": "Guest Star", "personName": "Riley Gilchrist" } But there does appear to still be a disconnect in TVDB v4 api. As the above appears in the Series info but not the episode.1 point

Ok, stop me if you've heard this one and I just can't find the option. I use the emby app on my android tv. I also have a ton of files/folders that have internal subtitles on things. The only weird thing is when it was initially transcoded for some reason they were lazy and the english sub isn't labeled as eng, its just labeled as UND (undeclared obviously) it would be great to set it to play this as well as english (which I have it set for) automatically. Am I missing it?1 point

We were not easily offended. You were out and out rude when it was uncalled for. As for a moderator getting involved in the conversation they as Emby users have just as much right to weigh in on the conversation. They just like the rest of us have their own opinion. As for speaking freely I do not see this thread being locked and or removed, do you? NO. As for being divided of course there is going to be division cause there are differing ways that people like to do things. Take per library only search I was only onboard with that till @GrimReaper pointed out that it might be possible to have it both global and local. So again having all viewpoints in a thread is good cause it may get you to see something you did not think of before.1 point

Don't mean to hijack but I'm using Emby docker in Unraid and wasn't able to locate the manuallogin.html file. So I found a way to do it using custom css only. The downside is that this will also change the background image on all of your settings screens which I personally do not mind too much. Just change the settings theme to one that works with your background ("dark" theme works well with the background in my example below). Backgrounds on the homepage, categories and movies/shows are not affected if you have them turned on. Feel free to use my background image (not mine but I modified it to look "netflixy"). /* Background image on Login screen */ .backgroundContainer{ background-image: url(https://i.imgur.com/dXB5cfN.jpg)!important; } Image Links: 15% Opacity: https://i.imgur.com/pMZxedJ.jpeg 15% Opacity w/ Large Fade: https://i.imgur.com/YPnzXwJ.jpg 15% Opacity w/ Small Fade: https://i.imgur.com/dXB5cfN.jpg 10% Opacity: https://i.imgur.com/qLSkLYB.jpg1 point
