No one is asking anyone to abandon the plug-in if that is what they want to use right now. Remember the core feature is a hidden option in a beta server release. I would hope you would not have expectations of that being complete.5 points

Unless you are desperate for the manual 'Skip Intro' button, then personally I think it is far too early to abandon the Plugin if it is delivering the functionality you have come to expect. Remember, currently, in Core the following are missing or have no plans to be implemented by the Core : no individual episode level editing (intro+credit) no show/season level editing no credit detection no auto-skip (intro and/or credit) no user selectable options no tagging / recalculation of chapters no performance tuning options no show exclusion options no options for showing e01 of a season no statistics / reports Also to remember - Each MANUAL edit (or Bulk Manual Change) that was performed is currently tagged in the Introskip database (Confirmed=1) - thus these entries are prime candidates for IMPORTING into the Emby Core Introskip. I'll take this offline with the Introskip team, but this does not seem like a big issue - we have the episode id and all the necessary timings - so writing/overwriting this to the 'chapters' table in the Core dB, seems trivial. There are a few questions however, on how to KEEP the edits - as we are not sure if they would get wiped with a metadata refresh for example. As @chef explained above - My understanding is some/all of the above functions will go into the Core, others will remain as a Plugin - we are just trying to understand which is which at the moment. So in summary, if you are happy with the Introskip Plugin (and there is no reason not to be..) then for the moment, I would personally keep using it - any manual edited data is safe in it's own dB with options to import it when ready.3 points

That GitHub repo is all placeholders. I wish them luck. It isn't hard to figure out, but it is time consuming to write it all. I'm interested on their take. I'm going to star that GitHub repo, and I'll be watching how they do it. In other words, I'll be watching the code closely... Very closely. Especially if I see one specific part of our code in there... The one that calculates things as fast as it does. Trust me it could have taken much much longer to scan your libraries if it wasn't for this one piece of code. ... Very closely As for the integrated version being behind a paywall. The Emby team rebuilt their version of the code. That code isn't mine. The ideas and logic behind what emby wrote might have been inspired by, but not our code. Therefore, I can't comment on how it is implemented, only that I'm very glad that it is. I completely support further development of the intro skip in it's new direction. But, I will also keep an eye on how this plugin is received, and maintain it to work with up coming emby releases. A lot of work went into the plugin, and we (that whole team) didn't ask for a cent. I'm good with people using it for free. A Tron, for the users sort of thing.2 points

I'm a big fan of services such as Rifftrax, and I hate having to manually mux files every time I purchase another release. Much in the same way that external subtitle file support was added, it would be nice to have external audio track support for TV and movies added as well. I wouldn't expect Emby to handle the offset calculations needed to sync the audio. It's not too difficult for me to modify that now.1 point

Hi, I’d love that audio and subtitles choice would be saved per show, according to what you select on the last episode you watched. The main audio/subtitles parameters is a good point but there are many cases it is not enough and you need to adjust audio and subtitles at the beginning of every episodes. For example i like to watch Casa de Pale in Spanish with french subtitles, The Big Bang Theory in English with french subtitles, French TV shows in french without subtitles, ....1 point

It occurred to me the other day that Emby's Movie and TV libraries treat watched/unwatched indicators in opposite ways. In the TV library, posters display a badge with the number of unwatched episodes on each series poster. No indicator means watched. In the Movie library, posters display a badge with a green checkmark when the movie has been watched. No indicator means unwatched. To summarize: TV: Indicator = UNWATCHED Movie: Indicator = WATCHED It would be great if these libraries could display watched/unwatched status indicators in a consistent manner. Personally I prefer the TV approach, where the indicator corresponds to an unwatched state, as it acts as a flag to draw your attention to something "new". So that would mean no green checkmark on watched movie posters, but instead something like a green star on unwatched movie posters. No change would be needed to the TV library behavior. Thoughts? Am I the only one whose OCD is upset by this?1 point

Is there any way to disable the extraction of album covers as folder.jpg in the metadata folder? I have my MP3 collections sorted in ARTIST\ALBUM folder, with each track of an album having the cover stored as coverart, and also an external folder.jpg file in each album folder that I manually created/extracted. In the Emby settings for the MP3 libraries, I have disabled any info downloaders, extractor, fetchers or NFO savers. The only checkbox is for "Save artwork into media folders". Still, in the metadata folder on the Embyserver (not in the folders of the actual media), I have millions of extracted album cover files (all called folder.jpg), and always when I add a new album the new one gets added there as well. Are these really needed?1 point

Hi, A small request and a very trivial one: Was wondering if the Swedish language could get our blue-yellow flag in Onesky? It makes it easier to locate it.1 point

Yes but not unprecedented. Our mobile app got kicked from the Amazon store years ago (and repeatedly after that as recently as just a few weeks ago) yet our Fire TV app is still there. There is no rhyme or reason to how these app stores operate but they have ALL the power. They can simply decide they don't like you. Its their playground. We believe the current situation is just an administrative screw up on their part but it is slow getting to the resolution.1 point

You can't display full path in ATV app as media can come from number of sources or systems and full path displayed wouldn't mean anything, per se. That said, you can have actual media file info (filename, type) displayed in Movie/Episode detail view by enabling "Show extended media information" in Settings>General Display.1 point

If the system is an emby server and you have the 1660 for transcoding, then I think you'll be surprised at what the Intel iGPU in the 12700K can do (Quick Sync Video) - it will certainly be able to transcode more 4k streams than the 1660 as that is memory limited (6Gb) and also do it at a fraction of the power usage.1 point

Yea it's on my list of investigation :D, I am looking at adding a debug option where it will push out a lot of details to the logs as I think this will help in pin pointing issue related to non matches. Just trying to find the time, things are a but hectic at the mo'1 point

I just sent you a pm with 2 examples of LE 10 debug logs (kodi.old.log). Let me know if you also need the regular kodi.log, I'll make another round of test to generate it. Thanks!1 point

Hey @koopa8840, the descriptions are in the changes logs, but a quick recap is: Genre: Free text field where the item (i.e. episode) genre metadata field will be used for a match Genre (Listed): Listed will do the same thing, but instead of a free text field, it will give you a list of genres that are already in the system. Genre (Treecrawl): will walk up the change to find a match and if matched adds the item. So for example, lets say the series has the genre you want, it will look at the episode first, if no match, then it will look one level up at the season element, to see if the genre is tagged there, if not, it will then search on level up at the series, if the genre matches the item will then be added to the collection/playlist. Hey @Mossop, did you get this to work, as it should be as simple as coping the DLL and restarting, can you perhaps attach some logs and a bit more detail about your environment please. @Flintfamily Firstly glad you figured out the treecrawl, secondly, I have not reached out to them, perhaps log a feature request and we can try get votes on it. It's a real bummer and I spent ages trying to get this right. I'm just trying to find the time to finish up the new release, thanks everyone for your patience.1 point

unfortunately not at the minute. as RBJ stated we are still figuring out what's in the core and what's not gonna be in there. Until we know what's what, it's pointless marrying the two to exchange data. Please remember this is very much in the dev phase for Emby Core and still in Beta for Plugin version.1 point

Hi, I agree with EFEris, a "premiere only" option is better then none and saying "working on it" is way too often used in this Forum, but without delivering results (Sorry, sounds hard, but that's how I feel about it) And Samsung is the most common TV Brand in the EU, there is no doubt about it. Maintaining is a point, but to be honest, I can not imagine, that this will get out of control, Tizen is Linux based and u got a client for US already, as a plus, just quit the support of some useless old devices like a PS3? which will be used by a max of 1 % ? And in my opinion it's a waste of energy using such a power consuming device for streaming. Anyways, we got ur point, but ignoring the biggest Brand of TV Manufacturers is not a good idea I guess. And of course we could use Roku, Fire-tv etc. but its another device, another remote etc. pp And if it's about a few euros once, everyone can make it's own decision.1 point

I fully understand this, maintain infrastructure costs time and money. I have no idea about the userbase emby has but looking at the tv market share ( https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1645428019 no idea if this source is reliable) it looks like there is samsung then nothing then lg. I would say having a "premiere only" option would be better then having no option. Anyway I don't want to bother you further, just saying a clear answer telling us not to except with a official client this decade is also fine for me. Just clear communication, "working on it" for several years doesn't make anyone happy I think. thanks for your great software1 point

No, of course it shouldn't be like that. But now we need to determine which downsides might be involved when giving the file extension a higher precedence for demuxer selection than the auto detection. Possibly we'll do this in the beta channel only after the upcoming release is out, to avoid regressions. While we do have quite a list of modifications, those are all very targeted and there's none which would matter in this case.1 point

*** Added a new piece of functionality. The interpreter dropdown now includes /bin/sh (just for cosmetic purposes), but also: sendmessage:sessionid. What does sendmessage:sessionid do? Allows you in the driver seat to send on-screen notifications to people using your media server when certain conditions are met - and all the variables and conditions are available to do so. My example below, onPlaybackStart, I want to tell my family member or media server user to enjoy the episode of a show they have chosen to watch. In my example, I obviously would check to make sure its a TV show. If its a movie, I'd have a different action that would say 'Hi there, please enjoy the movie' etc.. When using sendmessage:sessionid, the 'Run' (or 'script') box is the recipient of the notification, in this case, %session.id% which is the session.id of the session responsible for triggering this action, and 'Parameters' is simply the message I want to show on screen, with all the variables usable available for that particular action, for example %username%, %device.name%, etcetera. This will be available in 4.0.0.21 point

Any tips, how to get rid of duplicates now? Emby still lists those old, unplayable songs, side by side with the new ones. Despite the fact, I replaced those files on HDD and rescanne dthe library. Nevermind...I actually created some duplicates myself, by accident1 point

The majority are just one-off different intros or whatever, nothing that would be picked up on either way.1 point

Hi Crusher, what we are saying is that all your edits will not be destroyed by moving over to the core version. the core version has no way to edit these points anyway, but you might actually find that the core is more accurate and pick up all your intros correctly anyway, therefore you wont need your edits. We would love to have testers for the core integration and also feedback, this will speed up the move from dev to beta. then eventually release. we are waiting for beta or final release from emby core before we update our plugin to use the data from the core. This will bring us back to where we were with editing, etc. If you don't want to try the core version or you want to use your current edited points. Stick with the plugin until there is a more final version from the core. Not rocket science my friend1 point
-
The integrated version is what you want to use. It will have the most features. We can always extend the integrated version to do the thing the test plugin had. Like editors, or even auto skip... If that is what people are missing. How intro skip integrates into emby right now is just the beginning of what is possible. This new path is definitely what we wanted to happen. It really is for the best. Or... you could continue to use the plugin, but I (personally) just don't want anyone left behind. The integrated version is so much faster at finding intros, and besides the button, it has found intros the plugin just wasn't able to. Like GOT... Man that first season was difficult to detect, but the new version has made quick work of it. It's pretty cool!1 point

@Lukewe would really appreciate some more openness about the plans. If its not going to happen soon, just be honest. We can deal with it and find some other solutions till then. For know we all get frustrated because we don't know when and if it's going to happen. HDR + Emby + subtitles is really a pain now.1 point

I’m sure the developer will get it ironed out. They know how much we love this plugin! just gotta be patient1 point

I would suggest (at this point) for new users to wait and not use this particular plugin. It was an early test of capabilities. There will most likely be major changes happening in the next little while that makes this plugin obsolete. It has been an amazing community driven project. The next iteration of an intro skip option, will most likely not have anything to do with this particular plugin, and will take the idea to the next level. Thanks to every person who took the time over the years to get things where they are today... Which is going to be amazing!1 point

Hi, please refrain from profanity as this is a family friendly environment. In the upcoming 4.7 release, the Dlna server will be off by default now.1 point

My DS920+ is now unbelievably fast. At first there was not much improvement until I realised that all my artwork and .bif files were inside the media folders. That seemed like a cleaner and more manageable option at the time as I could easily have access to artwork. Once I replaced the artwork, the old files inside media folders were cleaned up. However, video preview .bif files were a pain. It would have taken a month to recreate them all on NAS. So I took a look at the library.db file and made a program that copies the .bif files into the same folder where the corresponding artwork sits. With exception of few files with special character, it all got copied and works. It's amazing how much of an improvement this was. I want to say it should really be mandatory running everything except the media from a decent NVME. Moving transcoding-temp to nvme was also a huge improvement and changing position is instant when watching a transcoded video. I almost want to sign that lego song "Everything is Awesome"!... lol1 point

While hdr in Windows is less than perfect. It still seems to work fine when using kodi or madvr.1 point

I was scanning through my Emby library just the other night and I was thinking about this ticket, and the fact that it's not really going anywhere (not that I thought it would when I entered it, but still). Nice to see that some other people are still annoyed by this! I definitely like having a visual indicator, but something that behaves consistently between library types, and is maybe smaller or partially transparent or something, would be nice.1 point

The Beta will pull the groups and make TAGs out of them which can be used like groups. I've got Movie, News, Sports, Kids, etc channels setup this way.1 point

In theory, an option with a disclaimer of the limitations is possible. It could result in constant question and answers though about why certain tracks are not being selected.1 point

Support for external audio should not only be in Ember Server/App, but also be in Plug-in of Emby for Kodi I'm an Asian and I love to watch Hollywood movies but when I don't understand them most of the time, I download an audio track in my native language and play it with Hollywood and English movies simultaneously to enjoy it. I do not download dual audio movies because I find local encoders having much worse picture quality. There are many websites that provide us with audio tracks of Hollywood movies and many media player are capable of playing external audios like: VLC MPC Kodi (video and external audio file name must be same to be detected and played along) I've used Plex and found it really frustrating because it cannot perform this task, neither it has parental controls (free), so I switched to Kodi but it also has no greater features than EMBY! I installed it today and updated all my libraries, I really loved it and want to use it as my Media Server, its Combo with Kodi is really awesome, I don't like to watch movies in Web Browsers so used its Plugin for Kodi, Now everything is fine except: Emby lacking ability to play an external audio. Please introduce this feature. Not only for Web player but it must work with Kodi Add-on so there should be an option in Kodi to play external audio if using Emby Plugin and server in it. I shall be very very thankful too you. I really found Emby best of all but if it your team design an Emby Media Player for desktop PC, it would be really really great. Thank you.1 point
