Okay, so the only reason we have stayed silent on the details until now is because we think that our users complaining to Google about the issue may only make matters worse. So, please, do not complain directly to Google. Let us deal with this through proper channels. I have had discussions related to both our device limits and certain features that we feel cater directly to only the illegal use of our platform with many users and stated how the store operators have all the power. We can be removed at a whim by any of them. Many of you have argued with me that that is a silly concern. I've also pointed out how the stores don't fully understand what we are and, in many cases, just don't care to. The net of the current situation is that someone was discovered using our platform to distribute content illegally. The owner of the content reported our app as violating their copyright and Google immediately suspended us. No matter that we are not responsible for this nor does our app actually provide any content. With the very vague understanding of these details by the people in charge, the mere hint of anything "off" is enough. We have recourse, supposedly, but they have a rather long time to respond to it. We should be nearing the end of that time and will, hopefully, be re-instated soon. If not, we'll have to see what our next steps are to prove to them that our app is not hosting this content. I'll re-iterate - a bunch of our users complaining will likely just make matters worse so please do not do that. We will let you know when we have any more information. Google has been completely silent for almost two weeks now. Thanks.

I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. I would suggest (at this point) for new users to wait and not use this particular plugin. It was an early test of capabilities. There will most likely be major changes happening in the next little while that makes this plugin obsolete. It has been an amazing community driven project. The next iteration of an intro skip option, will most likely not have anything to do with this particular plugin, and will take the idea to the next level. Thanks to every person who took the time over the years to get things where they are today... Which is going to be amazing!

Happy to report that I performed a manual update to 7.1 this weekend and then created an NVMe drive for emby caching (per the "Improve Performance" topic). Running with no problems so far.

Performance-wise it's largely the same. But the driver situation and delivery is much more reliable and stable on Windows. There's additional trouble on the horizon regarding newer Intel platforms on Linux, and in this regard at least, you'll be better off with Windows.

Some of the features of the Plugin as follows :- Intro Auto-Skip Credit Detection Credit Auto-Skip Visualize and edit any of the Intro and Credit markers using thumbnails Intelligent Chapter marker per episode Add or exclude specific shows Add or remove Intro's/Credit markers per show Provide statistics on the success of the detection Works in all clients Choose to play Intro or not from Episode 1 of each new Season User permissions - turn on/off the features for selected users ..... ..as far as I am aware, the Core version in it's current development, cannot do any of the above - this may be on the agenda, I'm honestly not sure. So if you use any of the above features, then you may need to make a choice as we are somewhat at a 'crossroads' here with features.

My ability to create youtube videos has much to be desired. Putting my terrible video production abilities aside, I am putting together some tutorials on how to setup a development environment to create plugins for emby, on youtube. This is video 1. Like I say, I'm not very good at video creation, but since the world still doesn't seem to need to employ chefs full time, this seemed like a fun time to try it out.

That would be my guess. Most likely, one of the devices on your network (a TV maybe) was attempting to cache your entire library. Unfortunately, we've found this is how some DLNA-enabled devices behave so we've disabled our DLNA server by default in the next release.

Hey, Just a quick question of VVC Codec (H.266) to see if this will be support by emby once they have released it fully to the public. VVC was released at the end of 2020 for testing on OTT companies etc and hopefully should be releasing it to the public domain fairly soon. of course there soon may be 2 years but would just like to ask if its something that is possible. Feature Request. A present I have several user accounts setup for family members. When we sit down together to watch a movie we currently log into one account (Mostly mine), so obviously only this account gets the watched status. What happens then is everyone uses my account because there's isn't up-to date and it's "just easier". This results in my account telling me I've watched something when I haven't... I would like the ability to log into my account and select/deselect which other users are present so that when a movie/TV episode is watched together, their watched statuses are updated accordingly? The next time you log in again all other users would have been deselected. It could be implemented so each user account can do this, or only select user accounts can. Even a special "Family" user account, or multiple viewers button as long as everyone's watched status is correct. Even just ticking the users present on the login screen before login into an account.

I like to be able to listen to an album at a time and having the app shuffle for me keeps things fresh. It's also a feature of kodi, but I am looking for an alternative due to crashes. So it'd be much appreciated.

The plugin can only do auto-skip, it won’t overlay a button to skip the intro. If all you want is a skip intro button, then you won’t even need this plugin at all. The button and intro detection will be built-in to Emby once this feature comes out. It is currently being tested internally, so hopefully it should be publicly available soon.

Ideally the plugin should be updated to use the data generated by the core server rather than creating it's own data.

I was playing the movie with VLC using the same SMB mount as the Shield. That's enough for me to think the culprit is in Shield.

OK so this is a wkwebview defect: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/696525 But there are workarounds we can use in the meantime until Apple resolves it. They'll be in the next update to the app. Thanks.

I don't know how to differentiate between (micro) stuttering and start/stop type. The movie will pause (frozen frame) for a few seconds then will stream again and after a few minutes it repeats which renders it unwatchable.

For me it's micro stutters but throughout and very noticeable. Not long pauses though like I see when transcoding. But that's only with oplocks on

Ultimately I think the role of the plugin will be for other things such as automatic skipping and other things that it brings. But just the raw intro detection will be handled by the server now.

IMO Plex is doing something great ... almost It proves, that one can start playing on external service just from other app. What I would love to see is, that I can add a STUB file which will actually open AppleTV, Google etc and play the movie. This way I can store my DVDs/BluRays locally, but have 4K/HDR/DV versions as purchased copies on those services. I accept to manually create STUB files (just as i "make a safety copy" of my discs). I want to keep Emby as a place where my "purchased" movies reside. Just like "personal Movies Anywhere" (which is not available in my country). For streaming aggregation maybe I'll start to use Plex - who knows, but for "my own media" I want to continue with Emby.

Hey everyone ! After watching the work you've done here for a while now, I've decided to show you my own advancement. There's not much yet, having never done any CSS before, I'm learning as I try to change things on my server ! Now amongs the things I'd like to do there's the manual login page, the folder view (I'd like to center the items in the Marvel folder and make them bigger too), add a background in the music album view that works the same way as the one on the home page but with album covers and switch the places of the user and settings icons ! If you got any inputs on one of the above, I'd be more than happy to read :)

Hahaha... @rbjtech When I bought the Shield Pro this year, it updated automatically to SE 9 and it was a nightmare! Nothing worked and when it worked it wasn't stable at all! I was busy fixing Plex Server for more than 2 months before I decided to block the ota update from Shield in PiHole. Downgraded the firmware to the stable version 8.2 but Plex updated the server and client version again during that timespan and rendered it useless! I never got it to playing any movie file anymore! So I switched to Emby server and everything has been rock solid, except for the issues I had recently with intermittent freezes which got nothing to do with Emby but my network. Now it is solved! I managed to watch a high bitrate movie last night (38 mbps) and it was smooth without any stuttering and freezes! It was direct playing instead of direct stream! Startup and seeking is magically fast! I tried to find the DFA option in the Emby client on Formuler Z8 but could not find it. It is only available on the Emby client on Shield. Plex has the ability to automatically stream the file directly from the network instead of http (I saw it in the log) and there is no extra user input to achieve this. I think it is quite easy to do this in Emby since all clients in the local network have direct access to the shared files. If you can do it automatically it is a more elegant way in my opinion instead of using the UNC path solution since not all users are familiar with this. Thank you guys so much for the fast replies! Hi, I don't know if this is possible but even if it is I don't have idea how to achieve it, so any help is appreciated! I would like to make media title (in that three dots menu...) as a link I can click on so it and it takes me straight to the media folder. That would reduce 4 mouse clicks and selecting the path to just 2 clicks. (I'm on OSX)

The banner looks awesome. It would be very cool to see something like that on all the clients.

I gave up waiting for ffmpeg - and modified all my container's (automatically) with the correct codec titles with MediaInfo CLI .. and mkvpropedit to write the detected data - no need to remux that way. It's not the end solution though, as I can't sort or filter on it - but at least it displays what I need to see and thus know what to expect to happen on my TV and AVR when I press play ...

Personally I've seen no disruption on my Sony Android TV to date. As for compensation it seems like they are doing there best to fix this, plus giving extra weeks of trail for new users. Let's see how this pans out before we start slinging mud.

Emby server doesn't use Local users for shared folder permissions with DSM 7 and instead uses System internal users. Make sure you click the dropdown box first and then you should see the already created 'emby' user and grant read/write permissions to your shared folder. You can then delete the local user embyUser you created
