So different are opinions... I'd like to remove the live tv buttons row (programs, guide, schedules) but keep the On Now row sorted by last played channels, independent of the guide sort order.3 points

I ended up solving this by rooting my tv, and updating the certificates. In the end it was pretty easy, even though I'm a complete noob. Here is a step by step. Warning: Do this at your own risk. 1. Open the browser on your TV. Enter rootmy.tv. Slide to root. You can use the same address in your browser to read more. 2. Go to the homebrew app and settings. Enable telnet. Reboot tv. 3. Download an ssh client for your PC, like putty and open it. 4. To find the address you need to connect to. Go to tv settings and network. Click on your internet connection (wifi or ethernet). There you will see an ip address. 5. In putty type in the address and choose telnet as connection. 6. You should now be connected and be able to type a command. You can use the script from here: https://gist.github.com/stek29/761232c6f7e1ffbc36b98da2a3a0f4d9 Simply type "curl -qs "https://gist.githubusercontent.com/stek29/761232c6f7e1ffbc36b98da2a3a0f4d9/raw/install.sh?$(date +%s)" | sh -" The script should run and update certificates. 7. Reboot tv. That's it. Everything should work now. You should turn off telnet again in homebrew settings.2 points

A common reason Emby's Real Time Monitoring (RTM) stops working on Synology NAS is because the Unix set user limit on inotify instances and/or watches has been reached as a result of a large number of changes for instances to process and/or the total amount of folders, files, etc that need to be monitored by watches. When RTM stops working you may start to see errors in your server logs like the following where the default number of user watches (8192) has been reached. A similar error will show up when the default inotify instances (128) is reached. System.IO.IOException: System.IO.IOException: The configured user limit (8192) on the number of inotify watches has been reached, or the operating system failed to allocate a required resource. To increase the number of inotify instances and/or watches create the following task in DSM control panel Task Scheduler logged on with admin privileges. 1. Create a Triggered Task...User-defined script to run at Boot-up 2. Paste the following commands under the Task Settings tab sysctl fs.inotify.max_user_watches=1048576; sysctl fs.inotify.max_user_instances=4096; 3. Click Run to execute the new task (if not logged on as admin then a restart may be necessary) The task will then rerun during every boot to prevent the changes from being reverted back to default from a DSM update. To check that your changes took affect you can optionally run the following commands in Terminal cat /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances cat /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches If your library gets really big and the limit of user watches is again reached, then just increase the number again. The maximum number of watches allowed in Unix is 524,288 and each used watch takes about 1kb of memory on a 32-bit system (double on 64-bit). However, it will only use what is needed based on the number of items being watched.2 points

I'd really like to have 2 Factor Authentication added to the login screen. It's just this (optional) extra layer of security to help secure the server (which, especially if people use camera uploads) contains pretty private data. There are for every type of programming language quite a few libraries available, so implementation on a server shouldn't be too hard to realise1 point

While Emby already has recommendations built in based on previously watched items I find they are not all that helpful. They seem to be based on genre only, for example, because you watched a comedy here are other comedies in your library. I do like how the also directed by/appear in recommendations work though. What would be great is if Emby could incorporate Trakt's recommendations as they are much more sophisticated. Trakt's recommendations are not only based off of what you have previously watched but also what your Trakt friends and other Trakt users have watched. It takes user ratings and trending/popular media into account. Ideally Emby would include full Trakt integration allowing users to rate media after watching, view lists and recommendations, and view upcoming media all from within Emby but for now I think recommendations would be a nice addition. Trakt has the potential to give Emby that community feel and allow users to discover new media, find something to watch, and recommend media to other users. http://docs.trakt.apiary.io/#reference/recommendations1 point

1.0.33 here. OLED55C6V using horizontal view (tiled view): 1. Can't use BACK key to stop playback on OLED C6V model. There is no STOP key on the remote. [EDIT: This seemed to only happen after upgrading the app. Even though Tv doesn't do a restart when switching off and on again, it appeared to work OK?????] 2. Descriptions on each TV episode are unreadable because white text colour is now overwritten by large white filled background over the text! 3. Spaces between items look abnormal on horizontal view. Cover art for TV and music, music videos and thumbs no longer have spacing between them making them look odd and over crowded. 4. The bug of too much spacing from top of screen to episode details and buttons is still there meaning scrolling down. Just 2 minutes into using 1.0.33 and I want to go back to .31 due to point 2 and 3 mainly (thinking that point 1 was just a blip!)1 point

Hi. I want to live stream 6 to 7 devices at a time. I found out the weakest link is my hard drive. It cannot handle storing Transcoding temporary files of 6 tuners on at the same time. Videos will freeze up or drop off completely. I don't care about instant rewind. Is there an option I can just remove temporary transcoding have Emby stream live tv directly to client devices?1 point

Please add the ability to disable the "On Now" row from the home page while leaving Live TV. Making it selectable by user like the others would be great.1 point
-
That is the thing as all items still somewhat get queried from providers even if you have images and metadata with media. On a rebuild I disable all providers and import my existing metadata then enable providers.1 point

The issue is the same as in https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/102144-several-lg-tvs-cannot-connect-to-server/ Switching to ZeroSSL solved the issue.1 point

Okay, that is just a display issue then in the selection dialog. We'll take a look at that. You had originally set it to always log in as User 1 and that setting didn't change until you changed it to "Remember Last User". The dialog was just confusing and we'll address that.1 point

I basically use Apple devices exclusively (I do have a few other devices, but main ones are Apple) and I’ve never personally had any issues getting Auto-Skip to work on my iPhone and iPad. The message also works fine. Can’t say about Apple TV though, as I have never tried it there (the Apple TV Emby client isn’t great overall…) I will say that I don’t actively use the feature either, only periodically. So perhaps the issue happens if it’s been monitoring too long, or something like that.1 point

Don't know why do you feel it broken, just downloaded it to test. Anyway, here: AutoCollections-for-4.6.0.22-betaServer.zip1 point

Create a Triggered Task to run at Boot-up and paste the following code under Task Settings. sh -c '(sleep 90 && echo 204800 > /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches)&' sh -c '(sleep 90 && echo 10000 > /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances)&' You can then run it manually now and then it will kick off every time you start your NAS. I added a line for "Instances" also which you aren't maxing out yet, but you might as well change it now1 point

OK as of right now after these software updates from Nvidia it looks like you're going to have to install on internal memory.1 point

There have been no unexpected halts after a viewing session lasting several hours. I consider the issue resolved and am closing. Thanks.1 point

Sorry for the delay. I will try it. I was not aware that any other apps run in the background. Hmmm. Quite possible that it could be the issue then. I will get back to you.1 point

I just re-read my post and want to be clear, I LOVE EMBY! I ditched plex years and years ago and never looked back, I am purely talking about using Emby for Android in the car whilst driving is not an ideal solution for me, a player dedicated to just music would be fantastic!1 point

seems to work good here, too - nice plugin! One thing I'm missing, maybe you could add it: You can setup a community rating rule, but not a critic's rating. Would you mind adding this somewhen?1 point

The latest version of the emby LG app should navigate much quicker than ever before.1 point
-
Yea that works but it's slow so you wouldn't use it in performance critical code that runs frequently. But for something that only runs once when the page loads it's fine1 point

I think it's better to do this in separate sections as one part is about increasing Emby performance using NVMe as HDDs vs system cache and the other things I'm working on are more about expanding or extending what the NAS as a whole can do for Emby. Although one of those can greatly increase system performance. So another way of looking at it will be specific instructions for different things that can be done. So we'll knock out the first section specific to increasing Emby performance using NVMe as HDDs vs NAS system cache. I'll get this up this weekend.1 point

Yeah I agree. It was very convenient to have. Wish we could just get this added back to the main media page next to the runtime.1 point

Yeah, likely. Still funny, though: skip chapter - "Okay, dear guests, that's all folks, finished, good night." Edit: Maybe I'll put it on next time the in-laws are visiting.1 point

Am also having problems with buttons on the new version. So far I have found pause, play and back buttons no longer functional on the remote.1 point

@Olroy12 if you have any issues with the migration send me a message (hover over my avatar for messaging) and we can setup a remote session to get you some remote assistance with the migration. Carlo1 point

Gruss1 point

yup still waiting for these people to get off ass to do something. I paid for the one time pass. Starting to regret that option now.1 point

I've started working on it. I'll post once I have some initial release (which probably will need some testing to iron out any bugs).1 point
