  1. @ebr If you remove the direct file access method, we'll never know if Nvidia fix the problem, if indeed it is an Nvidia issue to fix. Have you contacted Nvidia to see if it's something they're aware of, or are you just wanting to remove the direct file access method? Personally, I have never got DFA to work, so it's no skin off my nose if you keep it or remove it, but others have used it with great success. Just my 2 cents. Thanks.

  2. Sorry but that is what the per library option Group items into collections already does, unless I have misunderstood the request.

  3. I am using the Emby Android mobile app and the Emby Android TV app on my nVidia Shield. Before I installed the mobile app I was very frustrated with the feature set and interface of the Android TV app. Then I installed the mobile app and was so delighted with everything about the it. A few things I don't like about the TV app are the size of the icons on the home screen and no way to adjust them, one line horizontal scrolling in many places, under more (...) on the detailed view of an item many option are missing, the side menu for options when browsing a library. Go to the mobile app or the LG app (which looks very similar to the mobile app) and I find an interface that is close to perfection.

  4. Hi @ophiuchia, I couldn't find any easy way to do this. It seems you can give it more permissions at runtime, and maybe downgrade existing ones a bit by passing `--filesystem=home:ro` to the flatpak run command (although the documentation isn't very clear whether it will work). By default the app has host read/write access btw, and actual permissions will of course be limited to what your current user can do. I would suggest you create a separate user and run the flatpak as that sandboxed user, so that you can tweak exactly what permissions you want to give the process.

  5. This topic can be closed. I made it work by giving the docker container full administrator rights on my NAS. That wasn't exactly the solution I was looking for though, so I decided to use the native Emby app for Synology instead of using Docker. Everything went fast 'n smooth after that. Thanks for the advise!

  6. Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless

  7. Pretty simple suggestion. I have multiple users for my Emby server. If I want to do continuous maintenance on the media, I have to tell everyone. some of them are harder to reach than others ( i.e. no Facebook or Skype chat etc. ) It would be great if say... on the admin panel, I could hit a check box that enables 'maintenance mode', where the server still runs does everything as normal, but instead of the login screen it displays a maintenance page saying the server is unavailable. Even better if I were able to directly put a reason in a text box that would then display on the login screen as well. Not really sure what others would think of this, but for me it would be quite helpful. mostly if I want to make sure no one is trying to access content I know won't work until I've done a full library scan again. Thanks for reading. -Kyle

  8. Say I have a custom collection of 56 Christmas movies. During the Holiday Season, I would like to show this on the main page as a Library. Now, I could make a drive folder called "Christmas" and put these movies in that folder. However, now we're getting away from using metadata for organization and moving back to using folders for organization. Something you've spent the last few years trying to get away from. So each collection should have a toggle to show it as a library on the Home Page. Then people can make collections for Christmas, Halloween, Summer Romance, Summer Slasher Films, whatever and show them on the front page where they are easily accessible. Don't want to show it anymore, switch the toggle off.

  9. I would like to see collections (or a new Groups option) to allow you to hide the items in the Collection/Group in the library list but have a Collection/Group Icon in that list that when opened displays the items in said Collection/Group. This would allow easier navigation of the library (less items to scroll through) and keep like items in the same place. Thanks Karl

  10. Will have to test stable but I see everything on beta 4.7.0.22.

  11. I can second that; in addition to Theaters 3.0.15 and 1.1.400.0, it can be observed in online web app as well. 3.0.15 1.1.400.0 Online Web App All on 4.6.7.0 stable.

  12. Also note you can still have custom collection with the import option disable. Emby reads the <set> tag from item metadata if you write nfo file.
    1 point
  13. Unfortunately, you will have to delete them in the UI to ensure all item metadata is updated to remove the metadata creating the collections. But first you need to ensure the option to create them is disabled per library.

  14. I am half way through converting all movies now - almost 1000 are done (in addition to the ones that were already HEVC). No issues with the shield on any content at all. Mine is the old 2019 Shield too - so the new ones are likely better. There is quite a big sheild community on here. Basicaslly, the message is if you wish to have no issues with anything, then get a shield. Too expensive for every rooom in my house though - but we only have 2 4K TV's curtrently anyway - the rest are HD and hence only use a Chromecast with GoogleTV - which can play some 4K shows but not all in my testing. I have lots of 4k atmos 10bit stuff. Interestingly, my son just bought a new 59 inch TCL 4K TV which has atmos built in and runs Google TV as the OS. It can also play all my 4k media natively from emby (direct play) - and the TV only cost Australian $760 bucks....... I was very surprised. His last 4K TV was useless at any of it.

  15. Nope, currently not supported. Maybe once with the inclusion of core Smart Playlists (I'd reckon one of the - if not THE - highest voted Feature Requests) it'll be feasible. Additionally, you can lend your support here as well:

  18. Shaping up nicely, Vic. Edit: Another idea: When multi-selecting number of items - which can be positioned all around the library - it would require a lot of scrolling up/down or clicking Prev/Next to check/reconfirm which items actually are selected; maybe an additional row with only mini-posters (no tags or genres, just identifying artwork) of selected items could be placed between main window and Metadata editor? Crude mockup attached.

  20. Hi, this kind of surpasses a "feature" request but I got the idea from @sydlexius and this thread. From that lengthy discussion I realized I liked the mobile UI a lot more then the TV version's, but that adopting the mobile one would probably never come to fruition. I therefore suggest that, instead of having two separate apps in development, Emby could benefit from having one app for the android platform but with the option of choosing either the TV layout or the mobile one. Using the mobile APK (even on the powerful Shield TV) lags in playback, and since it's main purpose isn't for TV usage it's unlikely to get fixed. Optimizing for both platforms might seem tedious at first but it's what comes after that'll make it worth it. The TV UI, in my opinion, caters to individuals that likes to have everything available within the OSD while the mobile one is designed with minimalism in mind. I prefer the latter one of the aforementioned two. I'm very much in the dark of the complications with honoring such a request so I might be wishing for the impossible, but on paper it feels like a win-win for everyone including the developers.

  21. Nice setup. So, are you having an issue with Emby, or are you just informing us of your great and totally awesome setup?
    1 point
  22. Hmm ok. It would be cool if Emby would implement the fact that if media is no longer available, the entries remain and then the media are simply displayed as offline. Because otherwise the entries are always deleted directly from the database when the media are no longer available.

  23. GrimReaper, in the new tool, I cleaned up the GUI, and added "select All" and a few other things. The GUI and navigation are starting to solidify. Vic edit: I corrected a few bugs and I turned on saving. I have left global saving disabled until I do more testing. emby_new_tool_3.html

  26. @chef I also found out you can do this: ffmpeg -h muxer=chromaprint and it will give you information about the muxer. If it doesn't exist, it will say unknown format "chromaprint". EDIT: ffmpeg -muxers will return a list off all available muxers, so you could use the existing string contains to see if chromaprint exists in the output. Might not be needed to fix the issue here, but I thought it was useful information nonetheless.

  27. Perhaps it is taking longer to output. It is the only time we trying using ffmpeg without waiting for it to absolutely finish. Mostly because it is outputting a bunch of string data. I suppose that can not happen. I will make a fix and post a new version here shortly. Thanks for taking the time @imouttahere

  29. Thanks @cayars for remoting in and fixing this issue for me. We followed the password reset procedure again, but opened up Firefox (I normally use Chrome) to paste in the password reset link, and typed in the code there. It worked. The issue was that my Chrome browser's cache was full of junk. So if you have this issue try clearing your browser's cache or use a different browser to the one you normally use. All sorted and back in now. Thanks also to @cayars for some other useful tips and fine tuning of my Emby setup during the remote session.

  31. Pretty sure you will have to manually update to get the current server version. But in DSM 7 there were changes and you have to apply "internal user" to your shares.

  33. Yay ! I reverted back to Android 9 on my Shield ... A couple of 'oh crap' moments - but it's all back - with the Upgrade button firmly switched to OFF ! Playback, FF, RWD, Chapter selection is now instant - on a 90Mbit/sec 4K Remux, as it was before ... not a 'buffering/loading' circle in sight ..

  34. It's resolved itself and seems to somehow be connected to my internet having gone out, which doesn't make any sense as I was running things over a LAN. I'll PM a log anyway.

  35. Hi. 504 is a gateway timeout which would probably indicate that the issue is on the network as opposed to the server.

  36. HI, hopefully with the upcoming 4.7 server release.

  37. It's pretty simple. You need to deploy the container with 2 environment variables added. I don't have TrueNAS running at all right now so I can't tell you exactly where to enter them with the TrueCharts addon, but by memory when you click the app to install it you get a popup window on the right hand side of the screen where you confirm your settings before deploying. It should be in there that you can add the variables. Emby - theme.park Docs (theme-park.dev) - DOCKER_MODS=ghcr.io/gilbn/theme.park:emby - TP_THEME=dark That is way complicated for me. I would like to see all those themes implemented on my emby natively

  38. IMHO user votes for this shouldn't even matter due to its inherent importance, especially since I'm guessing that most users don't generally follow all the technological security related news and understand that there are real threats to defend from. Even if you don't believe that 2FA is important or see the continual trend of companies and individuals being hacked and exploited, you can see that other organizations have added 2FA to their offerings, even Plex. @Jdiesel When you get the chance (no rush), can you bump this into the 40-100 Likes category, thank you!

  40. Could you please remove this again? My Family don't have computers and as i have a lifetime pass, i don't think it is helpful to make the life of non tech people harder with things like that, as you know the app isn't available in the app store so i have to drive to all of them to fix it. Would be great to remove this "feature" again. Thanks

  41. Thank you so much. So they will need to do this every month? Uninstall, and then reinstall the app? This will be a fun facetime walk through haha.

  42. If you haven't dug in to deeply with a file rename yet may I suggest you give FileBot a good look? https://www.filebot.net It's really good for both movies and shows. It can be used with a GUI (point and click or drag and drop) or from the command line which is nice for automation. DRM is a problem across the board for nearly all DVRs on the market due to the cost and lack of flexibility in being able to play the files back on anything other than what recorded it. You won't see this changing in the future unfortunately. One thing I might suggest if possible is try using Emby for recording everything that's not on a DRM channel so that you'll get the full EPG data and the file will be immediately available and also playable while being recorded which is a nice plus. Also I'd suggest when setting up in Emby to use the built in guide data vs mucking around with Schedule Direct which adds complications not needed in Emby. By breaking up the recording this way you can leave the DRM channels alone and in WMC and not touch them and of course you won't have to rename anything in Emby as it already stores it's own files in the correct format and naming! This should give you the best of "both worlds". Carlo

  43. I'm gearing up for the upcoming Halloween season for my family, and it got me thinking about how it would be great if I could curate a collection to display on the home screen. Not just an image under "My Media" that takes me to all my collections, but a "Home Screen Section" where the contents of the collections are displayed the same as, "Next Up", or "New Movies" is displayed. This would allow for a "Netflix" style home screen with all of our usual sections, but also a few collections for seasonal, or themed collections. I have mocked up a very crude sample of what I'm purposing in photoshop. I think this feature could add some personal flair, as well as showcase seasonal, special, or featured items that server providers would like to be top-of-mind. I apologize if this has already been suggested. Thank you for your consideration on this feature request!

  44. It watches a folder external to Emby, and adds any media that is placed in that folder to Emby.
