  1. I thought it would be somewhat apt to come back to this thread Bought a Fire TV a few weeks ago to replace my Roku and found that the Fire TV Plex app was just horrible. No way of setting direct play or anything like that. So I decided to try Emby for Android again. Got everything set up with my Synology and tweaked the playback speeds down to 80Mb/s for my 4K content. Let's just say it's been working so well, I'm now the proud owner of an Emby Premiere Lifetime Subscription !

  2. Hey up, and wecome to Emby. Both of your requests are already implemented but depend on your folder structure/filenaming. Check out KB article, Multi-version section: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159102-movie-naming In short, if you put all versions of your movie inside a single folder and name them in supported naming convention, with everything after "space-dash-space" being what you want to see in the dropdown, you'll get what you're describing. If you keep them in separate folders, then you have to join them manually or use Auto-grouping plugin.

  3. Well, thank you! It took me 30 minutes to write the subject I didn't think that I would have such quick and clear reply I just tried it and it work perfectly! I'll see if tomorow I'll have another idea to propose, just to find out it exist already

  6. Hi, as per this thread https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/105421-recently-add-for-movies-not-working-properly/ What do you have set for your 'Date added behavior for new content' ? (Settings > Library > Advanced tab)

  7. Big shout out to @cayars for remoting in and helping me to get things set up exactly as I'd hoped. That level of service is what makes Emby the best!

  8. I mentioned it in another thread, but thought I'd put it here since this looks like a new section--just for posterity. Would like to have a bulk meta data editor function. For example, if I have 750 videos whose producing studio is the same, I want to select those videos and apply the name of the studio to those videos. Similarly, if there is a custom tag I want to apply to a subset of those movies, I want to be able to select them in bulk and apply the tag to those videos (instead of selecting them one by one).

  10. Often Emby has trouble seeking for playback position during a recording. When this happens the duration shows a junk number, or NaNNaNNaN, or a fraction of the actual recording time. I'm using an Android phone (screenshot below) and NVIDIA Shield, and seems to only happen if I'm watching then exit and try to resume. It's maddening backing out of playback at half time, only to find you cannot resume and watch the rest of a game. The 2nd half of the Bills-Chiefs game was probably boring and uneventful anyway so I'm sure we didn't miss much. Details below. Example log from Shield playback. It appears Emby first tries HW decoded playback, which fails with "Invalid frame dimensions 0x0. could not seek to position 85621.853" then falls back to SW decoded playback, which fails the same way. Recording is from an HDHomerun Connect Quatro. ----- Operating System: Linux version 5.14.0-0.bpo.2-amd64 (debian-kernel@lists.debian.org) (gcc-10 (Debian 10.2.1-6) 10.2.1 20210110, GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Debian) 2.35.2 OS/Process: x64/x64 Emby Server version: 4.6.7.0 Operating system: Unix 5.14.0.0 >>>>>> User policy for emby EnablePlaybackRemuxing: True EnableVideoPlaybackTranscoding: True EnableAudioPlaybackTranscoding: True >>>>>> Affected codecs Encoder VAAPI RocketLake-S GT1 UHD Graphics 750 - H.264 (AVC) Adapter #0: 'RocketLake-S GT1 UHD Graphics 750' Id:19594 (Driver: Intel iHD driver for Intel(R) Gen Graphics - 21.2.2 (1dd7d7f), Vendor: Intel Corporation) Frame Sizes: 32x32...4096x4096 Color Formats: NV12 Profiles: Main Profile (Level 6), High Profile (Level 6), Constrained Baseline Profile (Level 6) Decoder VAAPI RocketLake-S GT1 UHD Graphics 750 - MPEG-2 Adapter #0: 'RocketLake-S GT1 UHD Graphics 750' Id:19594 (Driver: Intel iHD driver for Intel(R) Gen Graphics - 21.2.2 (1dd7d7f), Vendor: Intel Corporation) Frame Sizes: max 2048x2048 Color Formats: NV12 Profiles: Simple Profile (High Level), Main Profile (High Level) >>>>>> FindVideoEncoder - Media: h264, UseHardwareCodecs: True, Mode: Custom Info Checking: 'VAAPI RocketLake-S GT1 UHD Graphics 750 - H.264 (AVC)' Info Check successful - selecting 'VAAPI RocketLake-S GT1 UHD Graphics 750 - H.264 (AVC)' >>>>>> FindVideoDecoder - MediaType: mpeg2video, Mode: Custom Info Checking: 'VAAPI RocketLake-S GT1 UHD Graphics 750 - MPEG-2' Info Check successful - selecting 'VAAPI RocketLake-S GT1 UHD Graphics 750 - MPEG-2' >>>>>> Processing Plan Info Name CanDoInHardware WillDoInHardware Reason Info VAAPI RocketLake-S GT1 UHD Graphics 7... >> True True Hardware Codec Info VideoInput >> True True Same adapter (/dev/dri/renderD128), s... 11. You can, you can edit the data in any way you want in the Query tab using SQL. BE CAREFUL SQL DELETE IS DESTRUCTIVE. TAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR PLAYBACK REPORTING DATA FIRST. You can SELECT | UPDATE | DELETE any data using SQL, in the following query insert the user ID and run the query: DELETE FROM PlaybackActivity WHERE UserId = '<user ID here>' a user id looks like this : 90cf0e7bd88d458ba3d4a15eafcd9b43 You can get all your user ID using the following query, make sure you check the box "Replace UserId with UserName" this will replace the first UserId with the actual user name for reference. SELECT UserId, UserId FROM PlaybackActivity GROUP BY UserId This is not reversible, It is recommended you take a backup of your data first. Same goes for date or any other data you want to remove. SELECT * FROM PlaybackActivity WHERE DateCreated >= '2021-10-26 00:00:00' AND DateCreated <= '2021-10-26 23:59:59' once you have your WHERE correct and it is covering the data you need then to do the deleting use the DELETE action: DELETE FROM PlaybackActivity WHERE DateCreated >= '2021-10-26 00:00:00' AND DateCreated <= '2021-10-26 23:59:59'

  15. If all your library paths are the same, you can just copy the Emby Server folder to your new PC. I'd suggest moving the folder out of the user directory to an easier to access folder. After that just start the executable. As long as you've been using a build within the last few years, everything should come back as it did on your old server.

  18. ok interesting - we haven't noticed that behaviour during out testing - do you have a couple of example shows where this is happening ? (Ideally common shows that we may be able to directly relate to/cross reference). We can certainly check the algorithm for this, but you must remember that this is an Audio match - it has nothing to do with the Video. If any part of the 1st episode contains anAudio passage VERY similar to the real Intro - then it will be picked up as such. You can make the detection more or less sensitive, but we have found what it is set to now is the best balance of correct identification BUT on some show types it does need tweaking we agree. Maybe for a future release, but it would be possible to set this per 'show' if it was particularly bad. Yes this was brought up when we were implementing the Chapter naming - but we made the decision to not remove any existing chapters - it is not our place to do that. So you will get duplicate chapter names but you do raise an interesting point to use that existing 'Intro' chapter as a confirmation of the Title or End Credit Sequence and we should be able to use a bit more logic to perhaps 'rename' that Chapter (in Emby) to match the others. Thanks, some interesting points there - and thanks again for helping us test !

  19. So you are also part of the official emby team but you need to create plugins all by yourself without the rest of the emby team behind you? Actually it's shameful that the best plugin of the year (your intro skip plugin) was not made by the official developers and you can watch feature requests go by for years and never get implemented. Luke's answers when you ask for a status seem like they are pre-programmed sentences that he has bound to keys on his keyboard. I'm surprised there are no memes about this yet. Security related stuff is not done either. User permission revamp should have been implemented long ago as he always announces. As well as many other things that have been open for years, enough demand is there but no one seems to be interested. You have to help yourself out with powershell scripts and the like (sometimes not even 20 lines) that solve the whole request. It is not always as much work as we are led to believe here.

  20. Hi, so my detection is almost done. It's at 98.5% for the title sequence detection and I've skimmed through most of my shows (I've got 150 shows amounting to 3000-4000 episodes) and I've noticed a pattern: A majority of the shows' first episode doesn't have an intro, but the plugin still "detects" one (often) at the beginning of the episode. Then there are also times where it "detects" an intro 6 minutes in that's 20 seconds long. Thought I'd at least report it but I don't know what to do from here. Edit: I checked intro statistics and it seems to be aware of what episodes it hasn't managed to detect the intro on, but why would it then default to slamming one at the beginning? Even as a designer choice it doesn't really make sense, especially if it's the first episode of a show/season. Oh and I thought I might add: It's not uncommon for video files to have a "Intro/OP/Opening"-chapter which marks the start of well... the intro, as well as "Ending/ED/Outro"-chapters as in the attached picture. Can't that be utilized somehow?

  30. Indeed this does look much better than the Android TV message, but I've got to say it's a little strange to read "Einführung". I mean it is the correct translation, but I think Amazon and Netflix also use "Intro" instead of the translation, but maybe it's just me thinking it's strange...

  38. Well, this is embarrassing. Turns out my server was doing a parity check when I was trying to play a movie. Didn't notice this until I actually went to the server to inspect a few possible causes. Once the parity check finished, everything is back to normal and no issues playing any 4k remuxes. That's a relief!

  39. Guess what! When we integrate with emby further, we will be utilizing the chapter API to control the data. So, you are exactly right! Right now you'll have to run chapter insertion task again, but soon, the logic for sequence detection, and the chapter API for emby will be one in the same! It's going to really be something!

  41. I have also run in to this minor hiccup. Switching the transcode down to 1080p 30fps does allow a 4K video to play back in Chrome. Perhaps a future solution idea could be setting up transcoding profiles based on playback device type as well as internal/external playback Example. Play 4K Video from Google Chrome on LAN transcode down to 1080p 30fps Play 4k Video from Google Chrome on EXTERNAL Network transcode down to whatever default bitrate setting in network settings would make it use Just a thought, and thanks for the great product!
