Hi! yeah, auto organize would be responsible for this. Currently, we can tell auto organize where we want to create new series, but it will try to sort new items into their respective library folder. What is interesting here is (and what the code currently doesn't cover), series can span over multiple folders. We could use smart lists (somehow), to create rules around how auto organize handles episodes of a specific season. Infact, I bet this is exactly what we'd have to do, create smart list sorting rules for more then just guessing the naming of the file, but also the path to sort a file based on its lookup data result. I don't know how hard it would be. We should absolutely try it!2 points

The new (even if somewhat outdated) version has been released at the end of last year. The TDS --> AC3 conversion in the new version works flawlessly on my 2020 LG OLED and so far I've been able to play all movies with the DTS soundtrack. DTS passthrough is never going to work - this has nothing to do with Emby. It does not work because LG stopped supporting DTS transcoding and passthrough after 2019 models. The hardware to make the passthrough possible is not included any longer.2 points

it depends. My setup has a pair of Xeon E5-2630Ls (2x10 cores w/hyperthreading), and an array of 12 drives. I've seen Chromaprint disk I/O exceed 600MB/sec with 16 concurrent workers (I don't have #'s on how it impacted latency or what the IOPS rate was). During Intro detection, my Emby container can occasionally peg all cores (using 8 or 16 simultaneous workers). It regularly stays above 50% utilization. Your Ryzen 5 3600's will have much better IPC and clock speed compared to my cores, but I suspect you'd be better off with a lower # of detection workers.2 points

Telegram Notifications Plugin for Emby Finally after using it by myself for over 3,5 years and "supporting" it in another Thread https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/42912-telegram-notification/ i decided that with the latest Version it would be good to have a destinct Plugin Thread for it. Nope it is not in the Plugin catalog, because there are only plugins by developers which are "willing to fully support it. That means keep it up to date with server versions as well as fix any issues and respond to user help requests." Because of the closed source code of Emby and the lack of Plugin development documentation that is something i cannot ensure. What it does? It simply forwards the Messages of the Emby Notification Framework to a Chat or Channel. Not more, not less. Sorry no fancy posters etc. because the Standard Notifications of Emby dont support it. That could be hacked into, but those things can break easily on every update and i dont want to spend more work on this. How to install? Install the Plugin by downloading the DLL (or build it yourself using VS2019) and putting it into your Emby Plugin folder Restart your Emby Server Talk to @Bodfather with your favorite Telegram Client to create your Telegram Bot Start a chat with your bot (or place it in a channel) and send a message to it Fire up your browser and type the following URL: https://api.telegram.org/bot<BotTokenGoesHere>/getUpdates (without the braces) and find the ChatID Use the Settings Page of the Plugin to set Bot Token and Chat ID Activate the Telegram Notifications Plugin in the desired Server notifications Known Issues? There are no issues with the Plugin itself because it is really simple. The problems are inside the Emby Notification Framework for example if you want to use it to keep your Family and Friends up-to-dat with the newest Additions to your server. For every scan Emby only sends 10x New Media Notifications so if you add 100 Movies you only get the first 10 send to you. That is something that should have been worked on for quite some time but nothing happened. Where to get it? You can download the Source and DLL v1.4.0.0. here: https://codeberg.org/bjoerns1983/Emby.Plugin.TelegramNotification/releases Have fun with it. If you have a cool idea simply open an issue. To be honest i dont know how long this Plugin will be maintained. I mean it works since nearly four years without any problems. I am really waiting for the New Notification Webhook feature which would make these kind of notifications way more easy.1 point

Not sure if there are actually many people using emby that also read a lot of books. However with Ebooks being a hot thing right now this idea popped into my head. I have a lot of ebooks which I generally keep on my normal PC. However this way it has no back-ups cause I only back-up my server to an external location. So I was thinking about switching them to my server and then I thought I can also put them in the emby folder. The request may be a bit out of the ordinary since emby is more for playing files and things rather than reading, but could a reader be implemented at some point in the future? A book library and an implemented reader, specially for mobile devices I guess (phone/tablet), but perhaps for browser/theater? Would help me get rid of yet another app and have all my "media" in the same place Edit: If you liked this also take a look here for ebook expansion https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/80398-book-serverreader-incorporation-suggestion/1 point

In a web browser there are Suggestions, Albums, Artist etc. AND Folder. The Folder option is missing in the Apple TV app... any reason for this? Can it be enabled? Some albums, songs and artists has the wrong info in the meta data, and can be almost impossible to find without browsing for it by Folder. It's the same with Music, TV and Movies.1 point

I see this problem is going on since 2016 and i don’t understand why its not possible to just disable it. But to bring it again back up. I try to play a game on one screen and watch a serie on the other screen. Even when my browser is not focussed and the game is in full focus. It still controls emby. I see a lot of people complaining about this and would really like a fix to this.1 point

sure i have a show Wonderfalls configured for DVD display order and auto organise configured with episode naming So when i organise Wonderfalls - S01E02.mp4 i would like the episode to be named Wonderfalls - S01E02 - Pink Flamingos.mp4 (as per dvd order, wanted behaviour) not Wonderfalls - S01E02 - Karma Chameleon.mp4 (as per aired order, observed behaviour) no, AO has detected everything correctly, but it hasnt named the episode as per title of my selected display order.1 point

Hello, I accessed my nas with the windows cmd but could not change the permissions as "emby/volume2/@appdata/Embyserver" could not be found (I logged as administrator). Instead I deleted the Emby file I moved and changed back the "saved folder" to the one by default. Everything work fine now. I agree that it is highly probable the permissions were the issue, but now everything work fine. Thank you for the support1 point

I am not familiar with any setting that enables animated previews there, only static images which should be auto-generated or custom ones assigned by oneself.1 point
-
Long pressing the back button fixed it! (As I said it was a LITTLE issue. Did not merit much attention!) THANK YOU!1 point
-
Your perception is wrong. Emby does not manipulate your media or decide where something will go, it is all done via Auto Organize plugin - if one opts to have that plugin installed in the first place. This is strictly plugin feature request.1 point

Hi @tinchox, the package is actually meant for FlatHub and is just a tarball. We should however soon be publishing to FlatHub and the install instructions will be updated accordingly.1 point

Hi. Emby is not a streaming service. We provide no content. We are a personal media server for your own content. This is indicated in bold at the top of the page where you purchase Premiere. Please send an email to billingsupport@emby.media and we will refund your purchase less the fees we are charged.1 point

I keep my tv series under folders. The app can’t find them. So the only way I can browse them is by folders. So it’s the most important tab as far as I am concerned1 point

It's our pleasure @iJoMun. I was taking a little break eating dinner while remoted in with you so you. You've got a pretty nice NAS, but with any luck we'll change that to a Bad @ss NAS! LOL1 point

In the interest of full disclosure, the only "coding" I do is using Python and PowerShell (the latter allows me to inline .NET-compatible objects). I just figured that ffmpeg itself is probably using AMD, Intel, NVidia, etc. APIs to offload compute to the GPU.1 point
-
Well, this is the first time it has come up that I know of. But it comes down to whether it is something devs are willing to spend time on and adding. As you can see they have potentially 6 different options to consider.1 point

Is ffmpeg strictly necessary for black frame detection? Would it be possible to look into some kind of GPGPU (CUDA, OpenCL, etc.) code and do the check straight from the plugin code?1 point

Then I believe we would need a feature request to add parsing multiple values in this field. But have no idea why you have one that worked and the other does not. If all the values are listed it would be considered UNKNOWN as it is not listed in the table above as it is one value not multiple.1 point

Gah! Touch screen strikes again! Kicker: I actually have the touch screen disabled(it's my laptop) most of the time, because I'm just using external monitor, but the abilities are still reported apparently. It sounds like if I can get chromium to suppress reporting touch capability that would make things much better for me. Thanks!1 point
-
Not sure as I have never seen more than one value in the mpaa field. @Lukewould have to comment if that field is even parsed. If that entire string is listed I would assume it would be considered an unknown rating. But you have one showing multiple values and the other showing one. Who is providing this metadata?1 point
-
OK I see what you mean yes. That screen needs to be updated to utilize the multi-select list that we now have.1 point

Also, just to clarify...that CPU utilization was when it was running correctly. Seems like that has been pretty normal during the Title Sequence Detection stage which is why I had asked earlier if there was a possibility of using hardware acceleration during that stage. It never seems to cause any performance issues though since the ffmpeg processes always seem to run as a "Below normal" process so they don't interfere with any of the normal processes.1 point

Fair enough, was just suggesting how to get rid of that row while still maintaining fast-access capability. And yes, I was referring to it as "On Now" row (LiveTV Gome Screen section) following terminology in your post to make it more understandable. And it just shows how we each use it differently, I am extremely irritated by those 3 icons while I do like "On Now" row but also cannot get rid of them without sacrificing it. IMHO best way forward would be to split those two into separate Home Screen sections that could be enabled/disabled independently.1 point

Is there a rule of thumb for the maximum amount of series scanned during the Chroma-print and detection processes? I've got a Ryzen 5 3600X for reference.1 point

Emby should be reading this. LoadRatings("de", new[] { new ParentalRating("DE-0", 1), new ParentalRating("FSK-0", 1), new ParentalRating("DE-6", 5), new ParentalRating("FSK-6", 5), new ParentalRating("DE-12", 7), new ParentalRating("FSK-12", 7), new ParentalRating("DE-16", 8), new ParentalRating("FSK-16", 8), new ParentalRating("DE-18", 9), new ParentalRating("FSK-18", 9) }); But all ratings have an index number per their language. LoadRatings("us", new[] { new ParentalRating("TV-Y", 1), new ParentalRating("APPROVED", 1), new ParentalRating("G", 1), new ParentalRating("E", 1), new ParentalRating("EC", 1), new ParentalRating("TV-G", 1), new ParentalRating("TV-Y7", 3), new ParentalRating("TV-Y7-FV", 4), new ParentalRating("PG", 5), new ParentalRating("TV-PG", 5), new ParentalRating("PG-13", 7), new ParentalRating("T", 7), new ParentalRating("TV-14", 8), new ParentalRating("R", 9), new ParentalRating("M", 9), new ParentalRating("TV-MA", 9), new ParentalRating("NC-17", 10), new ParentalRating("AO", 15), new ParentalRating("RP", 15), new ParentalRating("UR", 15), new ParentalRating("NR", 15), new ParentalRating("X", 15), new ParentalRating("XXX", 15) }); But specific example will be needed to see your issue.1 point

The PC would have to be left on 24/7 for that to work. Nothing wrong with that but if you do this you would be far better off moving the Server to the PC as well. Is this something we could do?1 point

It looks like they are looking for variables like [FQDN] and [HOST]. I assume you could type in your own FQDN (or hostname, which is what I do) instead of using the variables. I have replaced the [IP] variable with a name in all my other dockers and it works. All the dockers I've used default to http://[IP]:[PORT:8096]/, but I always change it to http://unRAID:[PORT:8096]/ because I don't have to worry about IPs. Chrome and HTTPS Everywhere seem to prefer it, too, or at least the settings don't get polluted with a bunch of IP addresses. Like I said, just an annoyance really. I've resorted to making bookmarks to my dockers so I can start typing Emby and Chrome knows to go to the Emby bookmark which is http://unRAID:8096/. Now that I typed this all up, I don't know why it uses [PORT:8096], instead of just using 8096. Is the number a backup in case [PORT] isn't set? http://unRAID:8096/ should work wihtout the variable, I think.1 point

Thanks for the feedback Known issue it seems. Sorry that I did not find the other thread about it. Thank you for the link. I did further testing. The shield will not recognize Dolby Vision capability it seems. I will have to look into this. If anyone knows something, please let me know. I have checked all the available custom resolutions and none of them have "Dolby Vision ready". And as I know my Pre/Pro and Oppo can get DV to work, so should the Shield. I also ran Dune through MrMc on the Shield and it activated the HDR layer as the ATV version did. But lets put Dolby Vision aside a bit, until I get the Shield to do my bidding. Can we look into getting the standard Emby app to play the file with the HDR layer as the ATV version does? Or do we know of some method to rip movies lossless without the DV layer but keep the HDR layer? This will at least buy me some time to figure out how to get the Shield to detect DV readiness.1 point

Good afternoon. Please add Tautulli to Emby. It is necessary that notifications come to Telegram. There is Emby.Plugin.TelegramNotification, but it's all very simple and there is little information. Below is an example of how it is designed in plex and how it is designed in Emby. https://github.com/bjoerns1983/Emby.Plugin.TelegramNotification1 point

Even though I might agree that some options are more suitable than others for "ideal defaults" I still question doubt that is step 1. For me step 1 would be making it configurable based on users requirements so the user can decide what the actual "ideal defaults" are for him/her. You won't make everyone happy with your defaults but if the user has the possibility to change whatever the defaults are he can make himself happy...1 point
