Hi, I would love to have tautulli or equivalent for emby. Especially for people coming from plex, we would love to see something like tautulli. I know there are a few Statistic plugins but i think we all know there is nothing like tautulli out there. I love the way i see people currently watching movies on my server and the details of what is transcoding etc. i know emby also shows ppl watching movies but it isn't the same. I don't get a notification or even see a icon if someone starts to play while i have the emby page open. There is no icon that shows me someone is watching a movie. Tautulli is also open source so if someone has the skills in python to make it work for emby, this would be amazing. For me this is actually really the only reason I hesitate to switch completely. maybe someone can make this happen

Not sure if there are actually many people using emby that also read a lot of books. However with Ebooks being a hot thing right now this idea popped into my head. I have a lot of ebooks which I generally keep on my normal PC. However this way it has no back-ups cause I only back-up my server to an external location. So I was thinking about switching them to my server and then I thought I can also put them in the emby folder. The request may be a bit out of the ordinary since emby is more for playing files and things rather than reading, but could a reader be implemented at some point in the future? A book library and an implemented reader, specially for mobile devices I guess (phone/tablet), but perhaps for browser/theater? EDL supports a few other functions like muting, skipping based on frame numbers, etc. I see ComSkipper also has a function or two geared primarily towards use with comskip like reloading the EDL file. Realistically if I did create a plug-in for general EDL support it probably be a fork of ComSkipper with a feature or two removed and a feature or two added. Thanks, Harry

Our app doesn't "spawn" anything. We ask the Android system to play a particular URI and then it takes over from there. Everything is under the control of Android and the permissions are solely the ones for the app doing the actual access. So, using an external player and a direct path means no Emby permissions are relevant at all because we aren't involved.

what about the implementation of the DISCSUBTITLE?

Hi. Cannot say for certain but we are close to the end of this beta cycle.

I played with it some more last night and it seems to depend on the movie. I tried all 20 movies in my new movies section on the Home Page and I would say roughly half would not play with just the External player box checked. However, all of them direct play w/o External player checked and also all direct play with both External player and Direct Path checked. Of the ones that do not play at all with just External Player checked I usually get a real quick pop-up message (but not always) that disappears really quick, but it looks really close to the pics Audiomixer posted. So far I've not been able to figure out any difference between the videos that won't play w/o the Direct Path setup. It's all ripped UHD discs with a variety of DV/No DV, Subs / no Subs, etc. I did send logs though so maybe ebr can figure it out

i would imagine you'd have to change permissions on emby's system files to match whatever user you're trying to change to?

I have a couple of issues with ATV that is forcing me to use the standard version (PGS subtitles and FLAC audio). I also find the standard version to be a lot more responsive in general, which I also like.

Thank you that would be great. I am sure there is way to just check if the file is currently in use? Currently, I wrote an app that after moving (or converting) files from pc to NAS then it just executes a move into the Monitored AutoOrganize folder.

Seeing the same. I can't get VLC to work as external player unless I also use direct access. I sent logs to ebr earlier at about ~640 and 643 EST user Rick. The first was w/o smb and the second with.

sorry for my bad english. i'm new to media server in general and its my first attempt to try the avail options. i found that the free version of emby is way better than the free plex. literally i uninstalled plex after 1 day from installing. so annoying using it. what i want to say is emby is full of powerful features. the free version is more than enough for me i dont need to buy , but i will buy, create an account and post here to thank the devs for the hard work.

Just an update for everyone. Thanks to everyone that has chipped in with ideas and tips to solve my issues without doing a fallback to Shield 8.2.3 I've got my Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 working to somewhat serve my purpose :- 1.) File explorers are working 2.) Emby Server is working fine, seems fast now as well. I can stream via webapp and also thru Emby Next Gen 6.2.6 in Kodi 3.) I am able to restore my Kodi build backup (this saved me a lot of time mucking around with setups etc). Got the idea to use Kodi's File Manager in another thread here to copy my backup into the Profile\Addon Data folder and the restore utility could see the backup and restore it. 4.) Emby-next-gen 6.2.6 for Kodi is fast, building a fresh library took a jiffy. 5.) Haven't tried loading Retroarch yet, but i don't game much nowadays anyway so it's a smaller issue. 6.) All streaming apps on the Shield is working - Netflix, Prime, other IPTV stuffs. Keyword for everyone facing these issue are :- a.) Install the Nvidia hotfix. remount NAS drives etc b.) reinstall file explorers, kodi and what other apps you have that's not working and give it permissions again

Some of that I am experiencing with this 1.6.0.5 (probably most >1.6 versions, but I am new to these) and I resolve it in the manner you described. But I think it's just because it is showing my more information than it used too... for a TV show where I ripped the whole season, then moved them to my organize folder, they all came up as unidentified (in orange) first, then one by one slowly processed and went into the correct folder marked "theatrical version" (green) so it seems to be working slower... but that could be it was faster when replacing series I have never had vs things I have (I have been replacing about 30% of my library that I lost last year)... But yes, on windows (which still has version 1.6.0 and earlier same behavior) I noticed over time while tweaking settings in Sonarr, I would get an MKV and an MP4 version of the same show downloaded. And even though AutoOrgainze was handling the renaming at that point (sonarr's disabled) it was copying BOTH (with the settings in AO set to move/overwrite). Anyway for the most part the newer verison seems to be doing well for me, and I will keep an eye out for any more weird behavior. Still have sometimes when the webui appears hung while processing alot of files, but then I do an F5 refresh firefox and the file it was 'hung' on as well as many beyond have correctly processed, so it may be a browser issue... -g p.s. @chef hope you are coming out the other side of this mess ok!

Update: it looks like this is intentional as when you select a show it shows the info are the bottom of the screen. Seems to have cropped the guid data window too. Take a few secs to load and then chops it off. Lg UJ635 software version 06.00.20

It would be useful to add a custom sort order for collections, so collections like Marvel, DC Comic, and Star Wars's movies can be ordered by chronological order instead of release date.

I think this would make emby to become the best media server. I don't know why none is implementing this. I think all user would be very happy. Instead of playlist should be better having possibility to create something like favorite for the lists created in trakt or imdb and sync them emby/trakt
