sorry for my bad english. i'm new to media server in general and its my first attempt to try the avail options. i found that the free version of emby is way better than the free plex. literally i uninstalled plex after 1 day from installing. so annoying using it. what i want to say is emby is full of powerful features. the free version is more than enough for me i dont need to buy , but i will buy, create an account and post here to thank the devs for the hard work.3 points

On the contrary, it is not more evidence. In VLC the mount point on my nas is “media” and in VLC I show folders but no files. Under network I show two diskstations, one lower case, the other upper case. I didn’t log into them as the first mount point should show up. I killed VLC, deleted data, uninstalled, reinstalled and ran it. It asked for permission to allow VLC to access photos and media. I said allow. And then said start VLC. Another pop up “new external storage detected, do you want VLC to add device media to your media library?” I responded yes. Then went to “browsing” and my mount point “media”. Folders, no files. Went to Emby (set vlc as external player) and tried to play dune. No go. See screen cap below and bottom screen cap. Thought I would check VLC permissions. There are three choices. A new install of VLC sets permissions to “allow only while using the app.” This does not work. Setting permissions to “allow all the time” now populates the files. See next (middle) screen cap. Going back to Emby to play dune. From the time I push play to when vid starts to play, 1-2 seconds. If Ebr would add “allow all the time”, pass direct path will probably work, I’m sure of it.2 points

here is an extract of a personnal script i made not shareable as it is hardcoded for my usecase (would need some rewrite to be shareable) parsers = [{'name': 'minilyrics','function' :minilyrics.LyricsFetcher(), 'type':'lrc' ,'active':True }, {'name':'ttplayer','function' :ttplayer.LyricsFetcher(), 'type':'lrc' ,'active':True}, {'name':'gomaudio','function' :gomaudio.LyricsFetcher(), 'type':'lrc' ,'active':True}, {'name':'music163','function' :music163.LyricsFetcher(), 'type':'lrc' ,'active':True}, {'name':'lyricwiki','function' :lyricwiki.LyricsFetcher(), 'type':'txt' ,'active':True}, {'name':'genius','function' :genius.LyricsFetcher(), 'type':'txt' ,'active':True}, {'name':'lyricsmode','function' :lyricsmode.LyricsFetcher(), 'type':'txt' ,'active':True}, {'name':'azllyrics','function' :azllyrics.LyricsFetcher(), 'type':'txt' ,'active':True}, {'name':'lyricscom','function' :lyricscom.LyricsFetcher(), 'type':'txt' ,'active':True}, {'name':'darklyrics','function' :darklyrics.LyricsFetcher(), 'type':'txt' ,'active':True} ] those defines all the parser i use and typed if they provide lrc or not. Some of them don't work. But all i got came from one of those for sure2 points

I mentioned it in another thread, but thought I'd put it here since this looks like a new section--just for posterity. Would like to have a bulk meta data editor function. For example, if I have 750 videos whose producing studio is the same, I want to select those videos and apply the name of the studio to those videos. Similarly, if there is a custom tag I want to apply to a subset of those movies, I want to be able to select them in bulk and apply the tag to those videos (instead of selecting them one by one).1 point

When setting up a new user I think it would be great if I could copy an existing user. Even better if you could copy certain aspects of a user like views , library access , parental settings1 point
-
It would be great if i could set the server to delete certain shows after a user has watched it. I happen to watch "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report", everyday, and with "News"ish type shows, there is no need to keep the episodes around. So i would like to set MB to auto delete those 2 shows, 3 days after one user has watched it.1 point

One thing that I would like to see implemented is the abilty to display lyrics in all of the apps. For those of us who have libraries with lyrics embedded in the actual files, it would be trivial. Simply scrape the lyrics from the lyrics tag and display them. As far as scraping from online lyrics databases, I don't see that working very well as just about every app that I have seen use it either doesn't get the correct lyrics or they are truncated with an add for the website.1 point

Hi all. Posting this cuz I literally spent days on this issue and thought I might be able to help others with this miserable issue. Kodi freezes with blue buffer circle at 100 - sometime with regular playback but almost always with resume or fast forward or backward. Tried umpteen fixes - advancedsettings parameters, cache settings, buffer modes, reading modes, switching between full screen and windowing. adjusting win10 parameters, nvidia graphics card parameters - nothing worked. Finally I found an advancedsettings.xml parameter that fixed the freezing 99% of the time. Turns out this network parameter "<nfstimeout>30</nfstimeout>" did the trick (Kodi 19 defaults to only 5 seconds - not sure if higher than 30 works but I only needed 30). I have 16 gb so I set cache to highest limit acceptable not sure I needed to but didn't hurt. Here is the full script I used for the AdvancedSettings.xml file - hope it helps you: <advancedsettings> <cache> <buffermode>1</buffermode> <memorysize>314572800</memorysize> <readfactor>15</readfactor> </cache> <nfstimeout>30</nfstimeout> </advancedsettings> Good Luck...1 point

parsec is how plex added game streaming on windows the have a preview out for mac osx and they said that they soon have it for linux after mac is stable. be great to upgrade game browser for remote streaming of retro games. could start how plex did it with windows only right now. that way when mac linux support is added it be easy to impermeant those system as the ground work would be layed out.1 point

I'll take a look at this tonight, and try to stop the process from acting on the source file if it is being copied into the monitored folder.1 point

But not has fast as Emby did with Direct File. This is not about how fast it plays, it's about taking unnecessary load off the emby server and all the other reasons I've mentioned above. To note - Both External players do not work with DV - so Emby/Exo has that going for it. Both VLC and X-Plore play a file via SMB instantly - 0 second delay...1 point
-
Interesting - as I just tested VLC and Explore as External Players and they play it immediately - faster than Exo does - but both are using HTTP. However, I had to turn off 'Direct File' in the playback options - if I left this on, then VLC would not play at all - it errored reporting what looks to be a badly formed request (too many slashes after file: ?)1 point
-
Well you can do everything except /library as the folderids will not allign per server. Don't believe /livetv or /views will align either but genres/music/studios/collections/people should as they are all by name folders. I would assume a feature request to make /metadata universal. But that would require a complete rebuild for all users.1 point

Although it will only activate HDR and not Dolby Vision on the TV But if ATV doesn't activate DV for him and it's working for rbjtech and others then he's having a problem no one else is having isn't he?1 point

Pictures automatically play from here when you hit the play button on them.1 point

Go in foobar option, you will see Openlyric, expend it and you have a sub option, (im not sur of the exact tab, not at home) you can set it to save to tag, save with original file, save to custom path.1 point

It used to be instant startup for me before SE9. Quicker than HTTP and playback was smoother with extremely high bitrate material and 60fps movies. Now it takes 60+ seconds to even start. Once it starts playback is good though1 point

Hi, yes it's possible for the future. Thanks.1 point

that's encouraging to hear. my shield pro is connected to a dolby atmos AVR. i setup a notification in github for the emby server releases and will try it out as soon as the next one drops and the linuxserver/emby beta docker image is available.1 point

also install foobar2000 and the OpenLyrics plugin. worked really well1 point

Thanks Luke. I have been using the backup option for a long time but have never had cause to do a restore. I will do a test restore on test emby instance first to make sure I nail the process.1 point

My LG OLED takes a good 2 seconds to switch the refresh rate, so I expect that's what the difference is. But if yours previously took 1 minute to start a FILE playback - then something looks wrong even before the update ? Anyway - lets wait for Eric next week, then we can do some real testing.1 point

Thanks for your reply. I fixed the problem. The problem was the folder itself. I created a new folder and transferred all media into it and setup permissions again. This time .nfo files were created and everything works like a charm.1 point

I have reinstalled my Emby Docker and had to set up my Media Categories again, but it was fairly painless. It seems to be running very smoothly right now. I also reformatted the cache drive but have not enabled its use on any of the shares yet. I'm still concerned about the cache though. It's not being accessed at all but its temperature is 93 degrees. I know it can get hotter, but that still seems warm when not operating.1 point

Can you go to any item that does not have a nfo file, select edit metadata and hit save and post another server log.1 point

As I’ve said before, @FrostByte is special. For me, Murphy is usually close by. Seriously http is also working fine and in the past has been faster to start playback than pass direct path. Reason I was looking into it when I first tried the shield server was that full 4k remux would stutter on playback using http on the same device that the server was on unless pass direct path was on and properly pathed. That doesn’t seem to be the case with the lastest beta ATV and server.1 point
-
Not that I'm aware of. HTTP works perfectly fine for me now, even on ~100Mbit/sec 4K Remux's. So while it would be nice to get direct FILE playback returning - It's not a big deal for me personally atm. I'm still curious why @FrostByte is the chosen one however ..1 point

It was a usb to ethernet adapter I had plugged in. Wifi only worked. SOrry!1 point

Thanks Luke! I think you are right. I just checked for updates and had some errors downloading them. Also found some stuff with system file checker. Still not working but seems like it's on my end. I'll update if I find the problem.1 point

I just feel the music playback is lacking a little. By the way keep up the awesome work! Edit: Hey just brain storming here but I feel like it would be relatively easy to just allow for video playback with music similar to tv or movies, with a folder for each song containing things such as what I mentioned before. Again just an idea please inform me if I'm incorrect, I love this community and I appreciate the hard work you guys put into this. Stay awesome!1 point

I took all the Xzener icons I had an made them 16:9 ratio. These will make the library icons appear better on some apps. There are 272 of them in this ZIP file. Zxener-16x9.zip1 point
