I am switching over from a Win7 box running MBC to Chromecast dongles. With the Win7 box I had a HDMI to Cat6 setup that allowed me to stream to up to 4 displays/TVs simultaneously. It was great while it lasted, but involved stapling cables to the ceiling to run it from room to room - plus it has borked Can there be an option to multi-cast to several receivers at once? i.e. simultaneously play to Chromecast dongles in my office and living room and kitchen simultaneously so i can walk from room to room without stopping and restarting the movie or show all the time? I realize that bandwidth could POTENTIALLY be an issue, but i have a fill gigabit network and a multi-port NAS so that really is the least of my worries... Thank you!

@gregkodi What I do is download the latest server for my particular synology and have it ready. I even do all this with an iPad! I open the currently running server and shut it down. I then go into the packages of synology to installed. Find Emby and do a manual install. Choose the new updated file you just downloaded and follow the prompts and let it install. It will simply update and refresh your server so when finished, you are running the latest server and all your data and setting are left intact. This is what I do.

Server side: Playlists access enabled under User settings, but disabled in Home screen settings. ATV app: Untick any library in Settings>Home Screen Layout>Allow to appear... Playlists library is back on refreshed Home Screen and enabled in server-side Home Screen settings.

As @FrostByte mentioned, the area where the password reset instructions is written is not available via the normal GUI but requires elevated access to get to. SSH is quick and easy assuming you've used SSH before. @EricJan if you haven't straightened out your situation yet, send me a PM (hover over my username and send me a message) and I can do a remote support session with you to show you how to accomplish the above and help you get fixed up. This way you'll also know how to do it in the future as well. If you want to spend a couple minutes doing a review of you setup on Windows I can likely give you some pointers as well to migrate this data over to Synology smoothly as well.

the thing i always find remarkable about these threads is that people value their own time so little. i charge myself out at way over the rate it would cost in time to switch from emby to plex as opposed to paying a $5 fee. but i guess some people are cheap in all senses of the word.

Hi, I would like to have an option to choose H265 instead of H264 in the Transcode option. It will be smaller for all bad bandwidth (2~5Mbit ADSL), but will have a great quality. Mobile phone can benefit of it greatly too with the 4G and the limitation of download.

Please read this post first. I was wondering if it would be possible to add something that would allow you to skip the intro to shows automatically while binge watching. When watching Netflix it does this for some shows, and im not sure if thats a feature of Netflix itself or a Chrome extension i use called "Flix Assist" but it would be a nice feature to have within Emby as well. and possibly even create a custom timed skip for specific shows

Don't think anyone has ever mentioned only wanting Continue Watching ie only Resume points with no Next Up row. But is currently not possible in the new design. You have Comined Cw/NU or CW and NU.

We have added appropriate log output for this a while ago, so the beta has it meanwhile....

Thanks. I decided to bulk load from my external backups and I shut down the cache because it was causing a lot of headaches with the upload of 14 TB of media files. The 'mover' was too limited and was wearing out. Actually, I didn't know that a typical SSD is limited in it's lifetime's write ability and it was heating up and getting errors. Apparently, I shouldn't have shut down the cache for all of the shares, because that's when I lost my dockers and now my 1 TB Samsung SSD is Unmoutable. I've just reinstalled the Emby docker and set up my libraries again. I was hoping that Emby would find my previous configurations, but it did not and now I am setting things up again. I'm hoping that it has recognized the nfo files and pictures stored in the media folders. I'll know shortly. I'll see if I can get the cache to work again once I am all done because I really do want any performance enhancements that it can offer while Emby is streaming.

Not within Emby (or @VicMoore expands his awesome tool to include PG), you'd have to reach for a 3-rd party app (like this one).

I would get in the habit of not skipping versions during an install. We always test for new installs and for upgrades from the previous version but not for multiple version jumps. In this case it's likely not a big deal but still I'd say the rule to install each and every release version holds for the best experience. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/ You will see there is a 4.6.6 release, so I'd upgrade to that first, then from 4.6.6 to 4.6.7.

Yes any change on ATV reverts back those two options to true. As they are probably not in the post made from atv to the server and server seems to set them to true..thats why i reported that in the server section at the beginning

"Full" commercial Visual Studio: Not free, commercial product. Works for creating Emby plugins. Visual Studio Community Edition: Free for personal use. Same as the commercial version, minus a few features. Works for creating Emby plugins. Visual Studio Code: Free, limited capability product that runs on more things than Windows. I use it mainly as a editor, but it does have some debugging and I believe build capabilities, I have only used it as an editor, nothing more, so I am far from an expert on it. It does have Git capabilities. It is my belief that plugins could be built with it, but I'm not sure. I use both the full commercial version and community edition, depending upon where I am sitting at the time (work or home ). If you use Windows, my recommendation by far would be to not use VS Code, use either the commercial or community version of Visual Studio.

Just to come back to earlier point, I can confirm Shield Pro works great with Dolby Vision fetch from Emby on synology to Panasonic Oled TV, unlike earlier Shield version.

Ya, OP is going to need to enable SSH on their NAS and then use something like Putty/Terminal/ or WinSCP to navigate the folder from Windows. I normally use WinSCP, but here's a good little Synology kb to walk you through enabling SSH and using Windows Terminal. Hey I'm currently making a non-docker dependent version of this. It's currently in python with a gui, but would a different file format be better. Like a chrome extension or a .jar/.exe file.

It sounds to me like you have installed 2 instances of Emby Server and are trying to use them to sign in to each other, that's not how Emby works. I suggest you follow the Quick Start guide and start again from scratch. https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159034-quick-start Create some libraries https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159319 Then try logging in with a local user and validate you can see the libraries you created above. Once that is done, then you can try adding remote connectivity to your seedbox https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44002137137-remote-setup

It will be right on the log screen, and the toggle will apply to all functions - the built-in log viewer, downloading a log file, opening in a new window, etc.
