Log file sanitization is being added for the upcoming 4.7 server release. They'll be anonymized when you download them from the server web interface. You can participate with this starting with the next beta server release. It may take time for us to spot everything that needs to be marked for anonymization. Thanks.

perhaps at the very least, the How to Report a Problem post should be updated to suggest this and the things that may need anonymising?

I have the occasional gripes with the answers sometimes, but generally speaking the support here is phenomenal. I honestly can't think of a software product where I've gone to a support forum or ticketing system and gotten multiple staff helping me in a matter of 15-30 minutes before (including some of the head muckity-mucks)... and then, actually eventually developing a fix to my problem. Certainly not Plex. Hard to not respect the team here.

No, there's no Download option in the Android TV app. There is in the Android app that you can sideload onto your Shield. See here.

Would need a Sort Tiltle or you editing your system.xml and Refreshing libraries to change sort behavior.

I think the original log file should be left as-is, but we should have a button in the server logs section to download an anonymized version.

Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless

Guys, The ebook side of Emby/MediaBrowser has been long stalled or rather stagnated. I would like to offer up a couple of suggestions. Many people use calibre as an ebook/comic book tool for scraping data and general management of their collection already. This program is absolutely astonishing in its ability to pull metadata from post calibre scans, as well as draw in metadata from the file source and/or directory structure. http://vaemendis.net/ubooquity/ Its a self contained .jar server/reader combination. And honestly I am very impressed by it's small footprint and wide range of abilities. The other option is COPS , which was written specifically with calibre in mind. It is open source, so making it work with emby I would think would be fairly easy. https://blog.slucas.fr/projects/calibre-opds-php-server/ Ever since the original release of MediaBrowser's bookshelf I have always wanted something that would allow me to 'read' my collection, rather than being basically nothing more than a place-set for images of books I own. I am sure that those who mainly have audiobooks are thrilled with bookshelf , but it's nothing more than an extension of the music library IMHO, not new features. We can have both right? Here I give you two suggestions free of charge.. Just because I love you, and Emby Personally I plan on running the Ubooquity Server along side of Emby from now on, just because of it's massive functionality and tiny footprint. But I sure hope that someone decides -- "yeah, ebook support should be in here too" and do something about it - rather than allow this now very very ancient issue to continue to remain an issue. And so I don't have to have 20 different ports open, some with SSL support - some not, because Emby isn't delivering the 'complete package'. (Please take some of this with humor, I know you have your hands full with improvements/bugs/suggestions/requests)

Pretty simple suggestion. I have multiple users for my Emby server. If I want to do continuous maintenance on the media, I have to tell everyone. some of them are harder to reach than others ( i.e. no Facebook or Skype chat etc. ) It would be great if say... on the admin panel, I could hit a check box that enables 'maintenance mode', where the server still runs does everything as normal, but instead of the login screen it displays a maintenance page saying the server is unavailable. Even better if I were able to directly put a reason in a text box that would then display on the login screen as well. Not really sure what others would think of this, but for me it would be quite helpful. mostly if I want to make sure no one is trying to access content I know won't work until I've done a full library scan again. I am looking to see if a SAML2/OAuth plugin is something others would use. I myself would love this feature to share Emby publicly with family members and friend and worry a little less about insecure passwords that some may use. I personally am a big advocate for security as I work in IT and see how a lack of good security can cause havoc. I love Okta and what it offers. Anyone can sign up and use it for free under 1000 users if you sign up as a Developer. That is just plain awesome. Let's see who else is interested. I am excited to find out! Thanks

Feature Request: Have User Groups and all settings applied at the Group Level That way you can just assign users to the appropriate Group and all settings will be inheritated.

A checkbox in the server settings somewhere to hide the domain and IP address in log files so they can be uploaded for troubleshooting without needing to be edited.

Server: QNAP V4.6.7.0 Hi, I just imported my music library and was disappointed to see that Artist Sort Title field was not populated. This is available as part of the musicbrainz data set for an artists so I am curious why it is not imported. Amazing how many Joe's and Steve's I had in my Library when I was manually adding the field to get some sensible ordering to the ~3,000 artists I have in my collection currently. Regards, Gary.

I would like the ability to disable the camera upload feature, both per-user and globally. It seems odd to me that that isn't already there as far as I can find... Sure I could just not use it, but that depends on trust that your other users wont decide to enable it, as the only on/off is in each users personal preferences.

Don't know how many of you know what PseudoTV is on Kodi but basically it is a plugin that allows you to create an EPG full of your own custom TV channels using your entire media library into one big channel surfing experience on your library. Emby, I believe, would be amazing for this and really make it stand out if something like this was official supported as the only support for something like this is a little plugin on Kodi. Features: Create custom TV channels using smart filters (e.g. 500 random movies that are from 2010 and newer and genre is Horror, 25 random tv episodes that are from Fox network). Allow creation of an unlimited number of channels using these filters and assign them channel numbers Automatically generate an EPG/TV Guide using all of these custom channels and randomly assign the scheduled program at a specific time Allow sorting of the channel shows (random, in order, asc, desc) Allow channels like FX to play both TV shows from FX but also incorporate movies at specific time periods like primetime movies Allow trailers to play in between shows as well as Channel Bumpers/intro videos Allow integration with Live TV using PVR Allow YouTube channels, USTVNOW, Playon perhaps? Ability to add a logo to your custom channels Background updating that would auto generate / update all the channels and shows after a specific period of time And so on

I have chapter-split all of my audiobooks, but there is no album or folder-level Play/Resume button, meaning I have to select one chapter at a time to listen to my audiobooks in Emby, or else manually add each chapter to a playlist or some such. Please add playback controls for the album/folder instead of just each individual file in the Book content type.

Whatever happened to "Back" UI button in online Web app? Which is particularly inconvenient during any item detail view while browsing library, can't back to library, only on Home Screen? Yeah, thumb mouse button makes short work of it, but assuming everyone is having one is quite a stretch. 4.6.7.0. local web app online web app In addition, while I appreciate nice poster as much as the next guy, that size is excessive and it is intruding in Actor roles, scrolling down just to see role seems quite unnecessary. And hate that "new" button design, 4.5.4. still has the best overall page design of them all, it's been going downwards ever since. parsec is how plex added game streaming on windows the have a preview out for mac osx and they said that they soon have it for linux after mac is stable. be great to upgrade game browser for remote streaming of retro games. could start how plex did it with windows only right now. that way when mac linux support is added it be easy to impermeant those system as the ground work would be layed out.

I dont like the idea of creating a user with a no password, yes I could set one, and "require" the user to change it, but I cant enforce that. I would love to see some work put into the adding users via the emby connect flow. For me, ideally, I could send the user to emby connect site, let them create the account first. Then as part of that flow, they could provide a "server request", ie a URL for a server they were asking for permission to join. Then the admin of the server would get a notification from my server, that a new user request has been received, and I could either approve or disapprove on the local server, and the credentials would initially be a random password. On the local server side, adding the ability to "require user to change the password the next time they log in" would enable this to happen with no password information being exchanged.

An .edl (edit decision list) file can contain quite a bit more information than is generated by comskip, so the answer to this question can be a bit tricky. I know it is made to be compatible with comskip generated edl files, and it may work with files generated by other apps but the easiest way to find out is to try it. For reference, the edl file must be named the same a the video file. A video file named "somevideo.mp4" would need and edl file named "somevideo.edl". I can also verify that ComSkipper works with my MP4 files. The basic format of a comskip edl file is as noted below. The first 2 columns are seconds and milliseconds of the start and end point of each commercial break separated by a single tab. In the last column, the value 0 indicates the action to be taken (0=cut). Format [start time] [end time] [action] Sample file 0.00 49.88 0 95.43 121.39 0 308.94 410.34 0 742.54 964.00 0 1388.45 1540.21 0 1834.67 1861.43 0

I think it's an issue with the 4k Max, as I've noticed that it will sometimes just freeze while in Emby for no reason whatsoever. It's annoying as hell, as when I play the same file on my Roku it works, Emby Theatre it works, my Chinese Android box it works, my regular 4k firestick it works. It is pretty consistent in that you can rewind the media and it will freeze again in the same freaking place. It's just with the 4k Max. It is using a new SOC so it's possible it might have some issues that need to be ironed out with updates.

question is - is it an issue or just a new feature that no-one knew they wanted? perhaps these were the mooted "surprises"?

9500T has a passmark of 8235, 8700T has a passmark of 10686. As rbjtech mentions, they both have the same iGPU, hence they have the same ASICS. But since the 9500T is $499 and the 8700T is an insane $829, god no it is not worth it. Buy some extra ram, toss it in there and you're still cheaper than that 8700T system. Heck even upgrading the SSD while upgrading the ram will still be cheaper than that 8700T system. The 9500T apparently also comes with a 3 year ONSITE warranty (for original hardware so you would need to swap back in original components, maybe, should the system fail) I'd get the 9500T personally.

Generally its just rebuilding it with a different Emby library unless there was a significant change in Emby. I will try and build one and put it here today. But you have probably seen from other plugin authors that the Emby beta process is such a moving target that most just stick with stable. I will do the same going forward. Personally unless I'm testing something specific or have a very pressing need, I never run beta's for anything.

Try 3.2.32 as that is newer. Also make sure to update to the latest version of Chrome as well as the Android System WebView.

Make sure you install the server configuration backup plug in once you're setup again.

If I was watching a football game or anything I really cared about, I'd be pissed if that happened - and there was no way for me to know it was going to happen when I paused. My normal assumption when pausing would be that I could seek later. I contend that, instead, they need to allow you to switch to a mode that will allow you to seek when you attempt to use them. Otherwise, you just go on forever believing that Emby has no ability to seek live streams.

This is horrible. WWE used to do this when presenting 4:3 content on DVDs and Blu-rays of old matches. There's a reason they stopped.

If I have a collection that's sorted by title, it makes sense to still have the alpha picker on the side as when browsing a library.

hey what I'm really missing is support for audiobooks. Simply saving the resume point for those mp3s would be absolutely enough, no need to fetch metadata etc.

I know this has been mentioned but per the instruction to create a new thread for each item, I'm going to err on the side of redundancy solely on the fact that this is the single most important item for us audiobook listeners. Feel free to moderate as needed, I asked for clarification here but didn't receive a response:

Gah. I keep forgetting about this setting! It's so not intuitive since this feature is an icon in the libraries view. It would be helpful to treat indiviual collections as a library (in respects to the GUI and what the user sees) rather than a unique item. I'd like to see the icon indicated in my screenshot below included in the GUI of the individual collection's screen, please.

Sorting and filtering within a collection would be awesome! For some collections alpha sort is better than a chronological sort. If too complex to design something that can be resorted on the fly because collections are their own category. Couldn't a new meta tag (or tags) be created within the collection that declares the sort order for the xml? From what I can tell the current collection xml file is reading: <DisplayOrder>PremiereDate</DisplayOrder> when it loads. Perhaps have it read something along the lines of <DisplayOrder>custMeta1</DisplayOrder> for single level sort or <DisplayOrder>custMeta1,custMeta2</DisplayOrder> for multi-level sort. By declaring the sort in the meta, it make the process dynamic. Personally I see a lot or value in users deciding how they want to see each individual collection. Some collections can be by premiere, some by title, etc.. It doesn't need to be one size fits all. Theoretically, something similar can be also applied to playlists. I've seen a few requests/posts requesting different views for collections and playlists. I think using the meta data as the driver would satisfy a number of those requests.

I apoligize for my late reply, I ran this command and I am now able to grant "read" and "write" access to the home folder with all its subfolders: setfacl -m user:emby:rxw /home/myusername or to grant "read only" access to specific folders: setfacl -m user:emby:rx /home/myusername/Music setfacl -m user:emby:rx /home/myusername/Videos setfacl -m user:emby:rx /home/myusername/Pictures Since Live TV must be read and written, then it's neccesary to grant "read" and "write" permissions: setfacl -m user:emby:rxw /home/myusername/LiveTV

Would it be possible to support users logging in via a url scheme say using basic auth like: https://user:pass@localhost:8920 OR by using GET params such as https://localhost:8920?user=username&pass=password Heck I would even take passing a token to use https://localhost:8920?api_token=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX I would like to be able to log users in automatically if they authenticated somewhere else. Specifically we just rolled out emby login support in Organizr v1.31 (https://github.com/causefx/Organizr) so if a user authenticates with their emby username I would like to be able to log them into Emby simultaneously.
