Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless3 points

@DJX @cayars @GrimReaper - I've split this part of the conversation off. This seems to have the effect that you're no longer subscribed. Just FYI..3 points

No donations needed, but thanks I agree that being able to customize and make changes to themes on other devices would be awesome. Just made a feature request for that in fact.2 points

Thank you once again for the work you guys are putting into this. I started over fingerprinting my prod. system and it seems to be lighter on the system with the latest release. Might be a wrong impression of mine but it seems so at least... Let's see how it works out, can't wait for it to finish.2 points

I moved from Plex to Emby and even though I think Emby is superior in its flexibility there are some things I like better with Plex, especially in terms of its looks. This theme is trying to fix that by making it a bit more similar to Plex but with some, in my opinion, improvements. The CSS is attached to this post for anyone interested and below are some screens to show it off Good to know I only use Chrome so I can't guarantee this CSS works as expected in other browsers. If you want the sidebar menu to look like in the screens, make sure to pin the sidebar. Watched badge/banderoll is inverted which means that the badge will not be shown if media have been watched, like in Plex. For desired look, please use the "Dark" theme for both Theme & Settings theme in the display settings. Emby-Stable-style-v3.6.txt1 point

I have built a plugin that is able to grab audiobook metadata from Audible using their kind of unpublished API... At some point when I iron out the matching logic, I'm hoping to publish the plugin here if not in the official plugin repo. Everything is working pretty well, but I would like to add the ability to automatically create collections based on the series information that comes back from Audible. I can't seem to find any documentation on how to create a collection. I tried just adding a LinkedItemInfo in the collections array when I return the MusicAlbum, but that doesn't work (I am assuming this is because the collection doesn't exist yet). I mean I could make a callout to the right endpoint but that doesn't feel like the best way to do it. Can anyone provide an example or maybe the interfaces I would need to implement to get that working? I'm thinking that it would have to be a PostScanTask since adding the LinkedItemInfo doesn't work, but if there's a way to do it when I grab that information from Audible in the AlbumMetadataProvider that would be awesome! Any guidance would be much appreciated.1 point

Currently, the "now playing" music screen is so... simple, the album art, at least in my case, is too small, all my music have the album art with a minimum resolution of 500x500, also the song name and artist name is too simple, this is how it looks so far: and this is how it should look, I know it's not a good representation but it's a clear idea: The bitrate is to have an idea of the quality of the song, whether if it's played directly or transcoded and it can have an option in settings to be shown always or only when transcoded. I count on your upvote for Emby developers to take this suggestion into account. Thanks.1 point

The handling of selection by genre would be improved if you enabled both AND as well as OR logic. Example: Keith Jarrett - Jazz, Piano Bill Evans - Jazz, Piano Elton John - Rock, Piano Ben Folds - Rock, Piano Glenn Gould - Classical, Piano Vladimir Horowitz - Classical, Piano There is no apparent way to select a genre subset that is Jazz AND Piano rather than Jazz OR Piano, and thereby select only the first two.1 point

True so a 1 day task making a theme for web client becomes what 6+ days making it compatible for Android, Apple, Roku, All TV models? As each platform would need tweaking its own code. Then there is mobile and touch compatibilities also. So yes lots of time.1 point

Maybe add in some notes on setting up the network piece for allowing remote users to access it. Most start off using their Emby server inside their own 4 walls but eventually need to share it outside to family members once they find out about it lol.1 point

@igeoorge Unless everyone connecting to your site is only using a browser and never any of the apps, then Google Analytics will likely be of no use to you as it only works with web/html.1 point

Is there a donation tab somewhere, I would like to support this? Also this would be awesome on an android client skin, wish there was a way to put favorite live TV channels on home page like Plex but that's not possible probably1 point

It does make sense! I am trying to rethink all this based on what you say. I wish I had access to several emby servers so I can see what you see. Anyway thanks and appreciate your input!1 point

You can use the url for a movie, series, pearson, season, episode and so forth. Id = episode_id or movie_id ........ {url}/Users/{UserId}/Items/{Id}1 point

Could be 0.0.1.21 is lighter but it's much slower for me. With the previous build the whole initial run took about 2,5 hours. Now it's running for over 8h and Episode Title Sequence Detection is at 87%.1 point

They do if you are using premiere features in them, so if you watched live TV in a browser that should consume a device license.1 point

Thanks, in old.log are some VPN interruptions. Not sure if this is related to the problem. Websocket crashed with a MemoryError at 4:12. Last interruption was at 22:44 Can you please check if your box is running out of Ram? I'll try to fix the issue, but if you have a memory problem it's probably the reason why. EDIT: I found a websocket ping issue, which could overload the box. Will be fixed in next beta....1 point

Following @cayars excellent advices, just one thing to add re:public VPN: if you do find one that suits your needs, make sure it allows port-forwarding, as lot of them don't.1 point
-
There are ways to do this but basically you need to create a tunnel or use a VPN type connection to bypass the CGNAT. There are different ways to go about this but one of the best ways is to setup your own remote proxy/tunnel on a hosting site. You don't need much in the way of CPU or storage but want something with "unlimited" bandwidth. That keeps you in total control and allows you to setup the remote host to cache your images making things load faster for users. This is more of an advanced setup but can be done for $5 or so a month or a low end hosting plan. For non-technical technical types a hosting provider as mentioned above running a VPN server is the ticket. Often this can be done installing and setting up with a web GUI. You can try public VPN services but you'll likely find they aren't great for Emby use. The problem with them is that a lot of people use these services to hack from, run port scans and other questionable things. So many of the meta-data providers block those addresses making it difficult to get meta-data for your libraries. You then have to setup specific routes to certain places to bypass the VPN. Why don't you wait until you get the service to see if it's even worth doing or how well it will work? I could then setup you up a tunnel through my system to use for a couple days to play a bit and see if it's worth while to setup for remote use.1 point

Have you checked your library setups? There is a section at the bottom of the libs for some types that allows you to download SRT subs automatically. You can also download them manually as well right from Emby interface.1 point

Yes, right now it's not possible to restart the server but only to shut it down. You have to have physical access to the Shield TV in order to restart it.1 point

The title is actually based on the movie, isn't it? Accordingly, it should normally take the same directory, as with the different resolutions... I always say, computers have a life of their own...^^ Currently, the series and movies with me again and again takes the English name, not the German. But do not think that this is the plugin. Went yes all the time without problems. Then FFMPEG has apparently current problems with SD content (Anyway not your construction site), constantly the picture is gone, but the sound continues... Emby has her menstrual period.1 point

As far as I know, emby "only" uses the tag-field "year". My suggestion is integrate the "Original release date" (maybe in brackets behind the date). lots of albums are remastered and I always get confused, though emby does not show the original date.1 point

It is really very frustrating that every time you close the app you need to start a new playlist/album/mix. Even more frustrating is that you need to restart the app every time you change network (WiFi-> cellular/cellular ->WiFi). For me, the dream is to have a "single stream" for my user and it will always be in the same state wherever is connect. Just like Spotify but for the whole system. If I start an album on my phone, and then log into the system on my computer it will either move the stream to the computer or control the stream on the phone. Same with video. Hope we get this feature at some point1 point

I was extremely surprised to find that there is a statically coded limit set on search results in the web client especially when I found it's set so low as 30. For anyone with large libraries this makes the search almost useless. I have over 100 albums with the phrase "Now that's what I call music" in them. Trying to search those to give a limited subset of my music collection in order to check through them returned 30 of them and an apparently random 30 at that. I've manually upped the limit on my server to 130 in the javascript for now, but that's not exactly an ideal scenario and will get reset every time I upgrade. Please guys, let's have full paginated search results for any search term entered as with just about any other search system in the world. Please Pretty please with bells on?1 point

Thanks for your replay Well, I forgot about continue watching. So I guess videos are covered. I don't have a "Continue Listening" option on music. Only on audiobooks. Am I simply missing it or does it need to be enabled?1 point

Having used Plex, I would find the addition of smart playlists extremely useful. It's been over a year since you made this comment and I note @@Luke commented in May this year, and I note other users (self-identified as ex plex uses) looking for this feature too, so is it likely we'll see smart playlists in 2018? I know you are busy with .net core etc currently and perfecting Live TV.1 point
