Somewhere Luke mentioned he will be adding ET for Android app to the Google Play Store soon, but I can't find where that is now. I hope when it gets added they use a different thumb though rather than using the same one ATV uses.3 points

That was existing behavior with the original next up implementation and you know how people hate change... Seems it is all moot now, however, as the behavior will be changed in the next release.3 points

I was performing some tests to simulate brute force login and found that emby lacks some pretty basic security measures. If you try to login using an invalid (non existing) username and password, failed login attempt is not displayed in the Dashboard UI alerts. You only get a dashboard alert when a valid username login attempt fails due to a incorrect password. This provides no visibility into brute force attacks. 1. Can you add dashboard alerts for this type of login failure? 2. Can you add these security Notifications and enable by default? For example, I was like to received failed login attempt emails after multiple failed login attempts.2 points

You're conflating content with services/software which aren't the same thing. Emby software gives you the ability to manage your content, to play it back on just about every popular device possible as well as transform the content in real-time if needed. It allows you to serve up your own content that is many times better then anything you will find on Netflix or Prime with their low bitrates and lack of good sound tracks and of course limited selection of content. You can purchase a lifetime Emby Premiere license for less than half the price of one hard drive and is just one tiny part of the cost of running your own media server. That cost is a drop in the bucket, almost insignificant amount compared to the hardware, storage bays, drives, clients and content we've purchased that make up our media centers. I find it kind of funny you mention both JellyFin's PC and Android TV apps because they rather suck compared to Emby's Theater for Desktop & Android TV counterparts. There is no comparison between them, really there isn't. This is the case with almost all JF clients (when they even exist). JellyFin is ok and works, as it's basically a 4 year old version of Emby on the server side, that was forked. But it's still about 4 years behind on the server side and worse on the client side. Emby transcoding for example which is the heart of any good media server blows away JF. I can transcode 4 4K HDR movies to 1080p SDR on my Celeron NAS with others direct playing while JF can't even transcode one of these streams. Anyone running JF and uses Live TV that has to get a subscription for guide data will end up over time paying more than an Emby Premiere lifetime license which includes awesome guide data. If JF meets your personal needs then that's great for you. But for many of us, a one time payment of $125-$150 for a lifetime license that opens up the system to many high end features and all clients as well as provide great support is worth a lot more than that. JF can't even run a forum and had to shut it down.2 points

Playback reporting plugin: View playback reports View user activity View performance and system usage Install it from the Emby server plugin catalogue. Source: https://github.com/faush01/playback_reporting Restoring data for recent (remote address) schema change STOP this is destructive, back up your playback reporting data first. stop emby server and take a copy of the playback_reporting.db DB before you start. In the query tab run this to get a list of all the tables SELECT name FROM sqlite_master It should show a list of tables like this: PlaybackActivity_20190525_085249 UserList PlaybackActivity_20230425_063417 PlaybackActivity the two tables you are interested in are PlaybackActivity and any table with the date sting in the end like PlaybackActivity_20230425_063417 Edit the following query with the name you have in your above results (DONT USE MINE) INSERT INTO PlaybackActivity SELECT *, "" AS RemoteAddress FROM PlaybackActivity_<TABLE NAME HERE> WHERE DateCreated NOT IN (SELECT DateCreated FROM PlaybackActivity) This will import all the old data into the new table.1 point

Hello, At some point without anything changing i can think of that would affect this NFO files and images stopped being saved to the media folders. I'm not sure what ti look for in the logs but i don't see anything at a first glance. How can i trigger them being saved? and where can i look for errors? thanks1 point

Correct as they are per device settings not a global user setting.1 point

Sideloading isn't really that hard if you want help. Just need a thumb drive and a file type manager app on your Shield1 point

I hear you. I think their reasoning is that they want people to just use Emby for their families and perhaps close friends, and do not want to run afoul of copyright holders by opening it up to people using it as a Netflix of publicly shared potentially pirated content, especially while profiting from doing so. They used to have a smaller device limit, but they increased it when a user said he had a large nuclear family. ...what they should do is have a status window that shows which devices are using Premiere slots.1 point

i am not really concerned about the number but the fact that this is being monitored and controlled by emby and i cannot even see or control just bothers me.1 point

You're expecting the Emby devs to work for free? 25 devices that are concurrently using Premiere features. If they don't make use of Premiere features, they don't count. If they do, then when they stop they again don't count. While you guys bicker about whether Jellyfin or Emby is better, I'm sitting here waiting for audiobooks to actually work. As of this moment, on Stable, they don't for either JF or Emby despite my bugging the Emby devs for years. Yes, I know Album-level resume is coming on Emby. It's about damn time too.1 point

I'd be surprised if that had an impact here but worth a try. I seem to recall similar dropout issues being reported with Sonos before...1 point

Yea, thanks @cayars. I was kinda just giving you a hard time. Sorry 'bout that.1 point

I believe there already is one (or more) for this. The basic issues are: 1) The guide provider does supply different types of images for some items but you cannot retrieve more than one at once. So trying to populate multiple image types from them requires duplicate requests - thus slowing down the guide refresh. 2) Searching online providers for these images is extremely hit or miss and, due to the way these search engines work (always returning something even if it is wrong) it is too prone to bad results.1 point

This is on my list. But I'm currently working on implementing TVDB's new API's before the ones I'm currently using get deprecated.1 point

Hi, this already is supported, but the number of artist IDs need to match the number of artist names in the embedded metadata This way for example, the second mbz id gets used with the second artist name.1 point

Okay, interestingly, there was just a request to actually do that in the Android TV app because it currently scopes a tag to the current library. I didn't fulfill the request because of this type of issue. Doesn't make sense to me to mix across libraries when browsing directly in a library.1 point

Mecool is already including the AV1 hardware support into their Android boxes, and it works very well when testing that video codec using YouTube. So, far I have not **seen** any native media that is encoded in that AV1 video codec. Where would you find that codec other than YouTube test videos?1 point

If 'average bitrate' is a property Emby gives me access to, then you should get this when I implement the Operators feature (=,!=,<,>,etc.).1 point

That would be great, emby is a big deal for me my family is all connected to it and I'm the only one using implayer they will not use anything but emby because it's simple to use for everyone. I'm in no rush for changes idc either way, I made an m3u with a few hundred channels I mapped with your guide data a long time ago for everyone and I use other stuff for myself so all is good. I just bought implayer so regardless of any changes to the emby client app I'm happy with my setup thankfully it allows emby to be used as my backend for my media collection. Just feels like others making these 3rd party apps are cashing in big but if you want something fast you pay for it or end up waiting and waiting.1 point

Which BBC channel? What format do they record in, .ts files? Have you tried post-processing the recordings? Just a thought.1 point

Hi, yes without hardware support I would expect this to be too slow for most users setups.1 point

Hi, I'm guessing one portion of the code is multi version aware and the other isn't and needs to be adjusted for that.1 point

There is no guide data you need to use the xml from your iptv provider but yeah, almost always incomplete is an understatement.1 point

Have you ever wanted to search for a movie or episode by a line that was uttered by a character? Moreso, wouldn't it be cool to jump straight to that timestamp/scene? I'd love such a feature. With certain text-based subtitles, it should be possible to build and index a database of them. I'm not certain if SQLite is the tool for the job (this seems better suited for unstructured data-oriented systems like Elastic, etc.). Anyhow, hopefully a core, plugin, or tools developer sees this post and agrees!1 point

Sorry for the late reply, I manually go to the movie and edit its genre on the server yes. By the way I think I found a compatibility issue with dashboard and direct play on Emby For Kodi, it's not showing the remote controls: I've been advised into posting it here, but the original thread:1 point
