  1. I can see that some people may not want the images to avoid spoilers, but still want the chapters for starting points. Maybe a setting to hide that section for those who don't have the server creating images and don't want to see empty boxes either.

  2. It’s a great idea, i need to do some other work to the plugin first. Such as User profiles, address some community improvements. I’ll have to see how i can implement this. Probably put it as a scheduled task so the user can assign times and triggers they want to enable the plugin. I’ll have a play after the other improvements have happened, it shouldn’t take long to do them, just need the time. cheers

  3. Any news guys? Simple will be the idea, let the user upload any image and just allow to link it to a play list or a specific movie/series. no more than 6 or 7 items. And to turn it on and off if they want to. Off by default for people that does not know how to use it.

  4. If you read the post where specifically YOU were addressed and link to beta given, you might find it.

  5. There are still people who want them without the images because they don't want to see the spoilers. Someone fairly new comes in demanding changes without thinking how it affects others and thinks only about themselves so we jump because he mentions Plex. This is ridiculous. This would have been much better as an option for everyone. Even people who have images may want to hide that section in ATV only

  6. yep same here. I think we need to accept that android tv is the lead platform for Emby and that there are not enough resources for making a good Apple TV experience.

  7. Lots of sites reference this also. As you have a UI to set your variables audio and subtitles. Ensure to look at settings options as it backs up original by default. MKV Optimizer – HTPC Tools (htpc-tools.de) in English or German.

  8. Do you know how to use PowerShell scripts? I've got one from the tools section here. It's kind of set up for retaining eng subs, but I'm sure it can be modified for other languages if needed. It's a little more involved than the solution H2P found though

  9. FYI, but with Emby currently having v4 access we just need continue testing the new plugin and let Luke know of any found defects.

  10. So the fact it only crashed when you loaded anything 'emby' suggests you had a bad Emby DLL of some sort. The fact you reloaded it and the issue is now resolved reinforces this view. How it happended will be very difficult to track down - could have been the SATA bus isues, HDD RAID issues, could be a corrupt download during the recent install ... But - it's fixed

  11. Windows 11 pro for workstation installed on the Emby Server, Installing did not cause any problems. I also have the impression that Emby starts the videos faster both locally and remotely. So for me, this is a successful upgrade from Windows 10 pro for workstation to Windows 11 pro for workstation. Greetings

  12. Hello, a few months ago I wanted to install the Emby app on a 2020 Samsung TV, but I saw that it was not available in the Appstore (Germany). After some time googling I was in a thread where among others Luke wrote that it is not possible to download the app and since Samsung takes quite a long time to approve the app it will take quite long. Now I wanted to install the app on another Samsung TV (UE75RU7099UXZG), but it is also not in the Appstore. Now I have read some posts that you can do a USB installation. My questions about this: Is this "beta" version also the normal version that you get otherwise in the Appstore? That with these 30 days I have not quite understood, you can not use the app after that? Does every Samsung Smart TV from 2015 the Tizen operating system? Thanks alot!

  13. Hi Pretty much as per the title. The recordings screen is pretty clunky visually. I would prefer each recording to have a line with more details visible. e.g. date, programme name, episode, channel Can I configure the recordings to display like that? It looks even worse in iOS where only one and half tiles are visible with no information other than the programme name. thanks

  15. You would have to remove the media from the library, do a scan, delete all of those nfo files, then re-add the media as it is already Identified as a tvshow.

  16. hi friends, how are you? I just came back to give you feedback. After using these settings, I can greatly improve the cache of pages. Go from 50 megs of cache per day to 17GB of cache per day. Thanks again my friends!

  17. From my understand yes as they are a one and done. Everything after that is manual. Minus nuking the library and reimporting it but may have to be a new database as people are not removed.

  18. Yes agreed, and that's one of the hurdles of doing this to make it seamless and automatic. It sounds easy until you start breaking things down into all the little pieces that also need to fall into place. Then you see how big a challenge something like this can be as there are a lot of things that need to be taken into consideration. It's surely not as simple as it may seem.

  20. Looks like confusions and creating mulit-episodes 0 thru 10 and 0 thru 14 so namings is not parsed correctly with this. But since no Absolute order exists I would expect it to fallback to Aired. No matter how you look at it, you have to manually edit each episode. So I would pull aired order and manually change them or copy and paste then one by one.

  21. No ... just wait mate. We are really tweaking the detection and you would need to run the beta server build to test. So only experienced users should try it. Once we are happy it will be released to plugin store

  22. It's actually easy enough to do by just creating a 'spotlight/recommendations/featured' library, putting items in it (or strm links to items) and then put it to to the top of your library display order .. It works on all clients .. Yes it's not huge 'eye candy' but it works ok - and as you watch the items, they disappear.. It's very similar to this thread which I started a while back - https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/99029-personalised-recommendations-library-work-in-progress/

  23. Just a point of correction - this is a Samsung video player bug that Samsung needs to fix and the best we can do is workaround it by switching to transcoding until it is resolved in the TV video player.

  25. @niallobr Did you ever get a solution for this? I'm finding a lot of missing images. Some mismatches, but mostly just images that don't appear when viewing a show or movie. If I click the person, then go back to the detail page and refresh, the image will appear. I don't see why I have to click 100's of people just to get their images to show though.

  26. Thanks for the detailed answer, I will definitely try one of them. I also have to correct myself, the TV I wanted to install emby on a few months ago is an LG 43UP75009LF. Is there a solution like that for it too?

  27. That's a crappy solution. What happens if the BIF generator fails for some reason and no chapter images are displayed. We still want chapters, with or without images. @ebr ?!?!?!?!?!

  28. Just wait someone is going to complain now about auto hiding chapters with no images because they still wanted chapters without the spoilers.

  30. Alright all of you are amazing. I tried out MKV Optimizer and loaded a few batches of files and it worked perfectly and now all of the shows that wouldn't play on Samsung now do. You fixed/helped me understand the intermittent Samsung TV issue where there is an issue with smooth playback when there are more than 30 tracks and you gave me a great solution to mass remove unneeded subtitles so my suspect files can now play normally. I greatly appreciate you all! Thank you!

  31. Alternate orders only come from TVDB, since you have TVDB as a secondary provider the order, metadata and images come from TMDB and TVDB is backup. You would have to set TVDB as first provider, ensure Display Order is set on Series to DVD, refresh w/replace images. Then I would lock the series. Now you can change the order back to TMDB first if you wish. Note Emby has v4 api access so we will be migrating eventually, plugin is in testing as there are api deficiencies and server core needs updating for changes also..

  32. The fact that these appear as string values in the database is more due to historical reasons. When re-done today, you'd rather see numbers only representing enum constants. Currently, the strings are converted to constants internally, which means that when you enter a string to your own liking, it cannot be converted as it's - well, unknown.

  35. Hi, if you'd like to remote control I would suggest exploring the Emby Server API: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/wiki

  36. This resolved my issues. I was able to Successfully connect my Roku TV/ Emby App to my Remote Emby Server using HTTPS . Recap: So even after updated cert gets saved via the Network menu under "Custom ssl certificate path" The server still holds on to old expired PFX at the X509store directory. There should be a way for Emby to clear that directory if a new PFX is updated by Admin. A Server restart does not update it. I had SSH with my to that specific directory as "Root" to clear it. Then restart EmbyServer

  37. I think plexamp is probably the biggest hit they've had in terms of all the crap they've added, which is a lot that attribute for being funded by vulture capitalists, there's a whole trail of half baked, half arsed, bug ridden features that have been poorly implemented and subsequently abandandoned as the next big feature to appease the funders is added. I've mentioned a few times in this thread that I was pissed at the time they added plexamp because there were so many long standing bugs that they ignored, but, I was wrong, this really is the best thing they did in a long time. It just so happened to be around this time that I switched to emby, at the same time they had the "roku-gate" saga and I actually managed to get Elan to get in dialogue with me about a long standing Sonos issue, over the space of a few weeks of dialogue with him the issue was eventually solved. I tried emby at the same time I finally discovered it was as good or better than plex was for me, funnily enough the same issue that I had with Sonos on Plex also was a problem in Emby (it's DTS related), you guys fixed it within 12-24 hours which blew my mind because at that point, I wasn't a paying customer, I bought a lifetime license shortly after this. I'm still incredibly happy with Emby, it works, it works well, it works for us as a family really well....apart from in one area, so until Emby decides that there's enough of us who want it or they see that it's actually a big enough selling point we'll carry on using plexamp for music. The DTS thing is actually a LONG standing issue with Sonos, something that they've stuck their head in the sand for a long time with, they've actually announced that they will be adding support shortly, I am left wondering if a patent has expired or something to prompt this.

  38. If you are using acme.sh for your certificates, you have two options: * Use a different preferred chain for letsencrypt i.e. "ISRG Root X1": Changing acme.sh Preferred Chain * Use zerossl (an alternative free Acme Certificate Provider) for your certificates: acme.sh ZeroSSL CA

  39. here are my end rules.. should catch mostly videos only... and enable caching of images.. what we have found during testing is some apps use "yourdomain.com/emby/videos" and "yourdomain.com/emby/items" and some apps do not, only use url "yourdomain.com/videos" and "yourdomain.com/items/" the rules below will block all video caching on cloudflare and cache all images regardless of client app being used. or if /emby/ is in the url or not.

  40. The Emby UI tries to adapt to provide the best *overall* presentation based on *all* the images it's currently displaying. In other words, if you have a mix of aspect ratios, and based on your screenshots it looks like you do, Emby will favor one at the expense (stretching, border bars) of others. The solution is to provide Emby with consistent image aspect ratios across your content in a library.

  42. Hi, welcome, and thanks for the support. It really comes down to personal preference and which app you prefer to use to connect to your Emby Server with. The Kodi add-on is meant to provide another option for those that prefer that.

  43. You are not reading my post. I said they do not appear UNLESS I run a manual library scan. I was very specific: I also previously provided the log but deleted it after a week with basically no suggestions other than ask me to repeat myself over and over. As I said in a previous post, I think it's absurd to ask people to post their logs in a public forum. Especially considering all of the things going on with QNAP NAS right now.
    1 point
  44. It's not a general example @Luke. It's a precise description of what is happening. I am baffled you seem to be having so much trouble understanding the problem. I have followed the rules on how to report a problem. The log was attached to the OP but you stopped responding or just keep asking me to describe the problem over and over so I deleted it. As someone who gets paid to do penetration testing on corporate networks, I think it's insane to ask people to post their logs publicly. An unscrupulous person could do very bad things with the info in those logs.

  45. Plexamp is kick-ass, it's one of the few "features" they've added in the past couple of years that is actually useful. I have a lifetime sub of plex (and emby), when I switched to emby my plex license remained unused until plexamp came out. It's not a jack-of-all trades, it serves a purpose and anything that isn't relevant isn't in it. It's easy to use, it looks and behaves exactly how you'd expect a music app to behave, like spotify or <insert streaming service here>. I don't have to deal with "it's started playing movies", "how do I get back to the music list" type questions, my wife and daughter just use it without any fuss or problems.
    1 point
  46. +1 for the standalone Emby Music App. I want so badly to drop Plex but they keep introducing killer features that I just can't resist using like Plexamp. Like others have said, having music separate from TV and Movies is the main goal, the other features can be worked on afterwards. How many video streaming platforms out there have music tied in still? Look at Plex, they have Plexamp. Look at Youtube, they have YT Music. Look at Prime, they have Amazon Music. Separating music from video is just what people have grown to expect and love. Yes of course you can create shortcuts, but that is not solving the issue at hand. As for some UI changes for Emby Music: Drop the side-scrolling category menu (eg. Artists, Songs, Playlists, Genres, etc..). It's nice looking but sucks to use. Replace it with folder-style navigation in its own "bottom-bar" button. Bottom navigation bar can be simplified for music, containing a Home, a Library View, a search, a downloads tab, and a settings tab. All long-press interaction menus should be replaced with the little "three vertical dots" button on the far right of whatever it is, long pressing is slow and ruins workflow. Keep long-press, but also add the other menu to get to the same options.

  47. Luke, anything in the pipeline to have an app like 'PlexAmp' with the Emby Premiere Subscription?? Emby Music possibly?

  48. I think most TVs should still provide some sort of function to do this but the reason it isn't done much anymore is because it isn't usually desired anymore. In the early days of 16:9 TVs (20 years ago) people did not fully understand different aspect ratios because they had watched content on a 4:3 screen forever. So, when they first saw the black bars, they thought something was wrong and the industry was pretty much forced to come up with all sorts of algorithms for stretching and cropping content to appease the learning curve. Nowadays, there isn't much 4:3 content and, when there is, people fully understand why it is displaying the way it is (oh, how cute - it is an old show...). So, developers have stopped spending the time coming up with all of those special stretching and distortion functions. P.S. Same issue existed in the early days of DVD which is why most of them were initially produced in a "Full Screen" version which was a special edit of the film created with a technique called "pan and scan". The image wasn't distorted but someone looked at every frame and cropped it so that all the important information was always visible.
    1 point
  49. Do you want the image stretched (which will distort it), or cropped (which will cut bits off)? Wouldn't you rather see it as it was made to be seen? Paul
