So I'm eligible for the bug bounty program?2 points

If you just need USB 3.0 (Direct Access) - then maybe something like this (which I bought recently as 'portable storage') - tbh it's a lot of money for what is a 5 bay HDD hot swap enclosure with DUEL fans, but then again a 5 bay NAS is going to cost double this .. https://www.amazon.co.uk/TerraMaster-D5-300C-External-Enclosure-Exclusive/dp/B071S6ZCMM/ref=asc_df_B071S6ZCMM?tag=bingshoppinga-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=79852089215499&hvnetw=o&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583451664080317&psc=12 points

cayars; Thanks so much for 'Remoting in' and fixing my issue! You showed me where I needed to change the file permissions within the File Station - to change the permissions to all the child folders and files of the parent Shared Folder. Thanks again!!2 points

You can extract/convert extras too and create a folder within the movie folder called extras for example, that will show up on emby.2 points

I would like to see a plug-in developed which allows for transcoding to be offset. My thoughts are for a transcoding server (high powered pc), running cut-down/transcoding only version of Emby. Then on my main Emby server a plug-in which offsets transcoding to the high powered pc (if available) Originally I had thought of this as being a high availability server https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/41443-emby-server-high-availability But thinking about this more, my requirement isn't for high availability but simply to offset the transcoding elsewhere.1 point

I like listening to my music through my roku/emby setup. However, I don't need to know how the artist is while listening. I was wondering if there is some way to set up a virtualization like on windows media player? I can wait and my roku will go to it's screen saver, but I would like to make a choice. Or even display the lyrics on screen, all of my music files have the lyrics embedded.1 point

I thought this might be useful if someone else comes across the same issue. I'm a bit of an edge case since I use docker and I create a pkcs12 cert bundle from certs and keys extracted from traefik, but the issue I had was not related to that. Since Lets Encrypt intermediate expired my emby server has been presenting an expired intermediate, but the `p12` file I'm generating has the correct new intermediate, I narrowed it down to the x509stores in the docker image had cached the intermediates, so since the issuer hadn't actually changed it never refreshed the intermediates and just kept on trucking with the invalid certs. Long story short, if you run docker and have some kind of lets encrypt certificate and you're getting `NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID` from chrome (Firefox ignores the bad certs, so I think the only affected browser is edge/chrome on macOS) then either remove and recreate the docker container (it uses `/tmp` for home so that will clear it) or docker exec -ti emby-server sh -c 'rm -rf /tmp/.dotnet/corefx/cryptography/x509stores' docker restart emby-server1 point

It still hasn't made me a coffee or even sent a random thank you email for all the TLC I provide but, yes it's all good now. Thank you!1 point

That is perfectly OK. In some ways @cayarsis a bit of a risk taker but, mostly, he is a belt and suspenders type of risk taker. I would not be surprised to find out that he also has supplies for a few years stocked away. But, by having a variety he keeps his life interesting and his mind fresh. There are those that say my mind is fresh as well, freshly dead. (see "Young Frankenstein" for the oblique reference.)1 point

It looks like the LG users are having success moving to ZeroSSL which supports some older root certificates that are more likely to still be current in older TV's. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/102144-several-lg-tvs-cannot-connect-to-server/&do=findComment&comment=10741801 point

Depends on your classifications as TVDB has it as PBS Specials Season 2016 Episode 22 and TMDB has is as a movie. But it is not its own series and Emby is just parsing unknown series/season/episode name. Now if you apply same season and episode number to each items metadata it will merge them into multi-version.1 point

Hi. Reaper is correct, for server features it will take closer to three weeks for your cache to expire.1 point

I've got a bit of everything with with 24 bay cases, 8 bay cases, 2 WD NAS, Synology NAS, dozen or so USB3 Externals. Some are located in my non attached garage for backup and some are primary.1 point
-
Yes since the UI does not change when you select or a version is selected for you, so the metadata for the first item imported is used for the UI.1 point
-
Probably best to switch to ZeroSSL then. Any certificates obtained via ACME already have that in the chain btw.1 point

Honestly I've been using it for so many years I don't remember how far back it goes, but I "think" its a 19 issue, don't remember if I saw it on the old emby for kodi build. And I'm not even sure if it's a Kodi problem... If it helps the Emby server is a synology box, there is only the one. I get a lot of issues with the DB blowing up, especially if I ask to mark something as watched etc while its' updating, but I believe someone is aware of that issue so no desire to beat on it... I have not posted it myself. But I do appreciate your work moving this along with the times! I use it every day. Here's the log kodi.log1 point

Sounds like a good compromise. I have only one user. I will give it a try later next week. thanks a lot!1 point

Will have to look into that. But i would imagine it would be easy enough and would be web ui only1 point

I use 3 of these in my server - so a 15 bay setup https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284163818152?hash=item42297bc2a8:g:aw8AAOSwdRdgEnoB For continuous use, then you MUST have decent fan assisted (high cfm) airflow over densely grouped HDD's. In the above, I replaced the fans with decent 80mm x 25mm deep commercial fans - they are noisy at high rpm but I use a temp controller pwm fan controller to keep the drives at a constant 30-35 degrees, with alarm and shutdown @ 45 degrees. Single HDD USB enclosures just cook hard drives, as they have no active cooling ..1 point

Yepp, sounds good. Looking forward to it. Another thing I am just thinking of: Is it possible to add a play button in the UI next to each episode starting at the intro start? I think this would make verification of right intro timings much easier.1 point

Thanks guys. @Gilgamesh_48 That definitely is a simple setup, but agree that I can see how it would get a bit message. @Tur0k Your 5x NAS is in the rack right? I was hoping I could get an external hard drive enclosure...something that could hold 10 - 20 hot swap drives. Something that has mounts for hot swap bays and just power and fans. When you get the 16i card are you planning to get a different enclosure for your hard drives? I can't seem to find any enclosures just for the hard drives unless I did rack mount.1 point

Just 'edit images' on the Collection folder - and delete the Primary image. It will then generate one for you from the movies covers - this may take a while to appear but it will happen1 point

We are on the same wavelength here - our thoughts are if a show has 0% (no titlesequence detected) or 100% (all titlesequence detected) then the probability of it being correct is good. However, if any episode(s) is/are 'missing' and has not has their titlesequence detected - then there is a much higher probability that season or show has issues that need further investigation - possibly manual correction. So we are designing a 'stats' page showing these results post detection - with the aim to zoom in on the 'obvious' issues as opposed to spending time on shows that are 'clean' and have a perfect titlesequence (or no titlesequences..) anyway. Any thoughts/feedback welcome on how we best do this ! Thanks.1 point

Why are you still converting it? Just record a show and turn off direct play. See how it performs when you do that.1 point

I do not use or need an enclosure for my 14 hard drives I have connected to my server. Every drive is an external USB drive (varying from 4tb to 10tb) with its own enclosure and they all live on shelves in the same rolling rack that my server lives on. My reliability is high (at least I have only had one drive failure in the last eight to ten years) and I use StableBit's DrivePool to merge all the drives and management is easy. I do have a small fan that blows air across the server(s) and all the drives to reduce heat as heat is the real danger to electronics. I use DrivePool's duplication feature for my media files so that the loss of a single drive will not result in the loss of any data (Which has been used really only once but it worked without problem that time.) Also adding drives is just a matter of plugging a new one in and using the software to add it to the pool. After that DrivePool handles all the rebalancing and duplication without problems. The only problem I have is a bit of clutter and mess due to all the wires but my server system lives in my back room so I do not have to look at it and, when I do look, I find the "mess" comforting more, much more, than distressing.1 point

Did you double check that the "preferred-chain" actually worked and the X3 root is no longer part of your chain? If so, you shouldn't require a replacement root cert on the TV since the ISRG root is still valid. You can always get yourself a ZeroSSL certificate instead which is free and works: https://github.com/acmesh-official/acme.sh/wiki/ZeroSSL.com-CA. That's what I did on my server to keep everything working fine.1 point

Interestingly... I tried changing the "Channel Three Only" setting to "All Channels" and it hasn't missed a beat since. Perhaps the Channel ID changes in the XML sometimes but, given that I don't include the +1 channels it seems to work fine that way.1 point

It appears the real file needs to be there before the stub file. If Emby scans the stub file first, it won't display any duration information for the movie. Is this a bug? It would be nice if Emby could correct the error if a new file is detected.1 point

@LukeI don't know what then magic number is but I script added 1 million empty strm files into the transcode-temp folder and Admin was lost during the process. Or should say Dashboard was available but without options as shown above. I terminated the script and it created 300,000+ files and had limited dashboard. Explorer crashed multiple times trying to view and delete the files. End up just nuking the folder. So there is definitely a issue with mass files and Dashboard at least on Windows in the transcode-temp folder. My test was on 4.7.0.13.1 point

What happens if you change the URL from https to http? If that works you will avoid having to mess with certs. It sounds like this provider doesn't know what he's doing using self signed certs for public use.1 point

Hi, you had a couple of recordings kicking off at the same time on channels 48.2, 31.6. Then I see the HDHR UDP stream cancelled or timed out from 192.168.2.153 But I believe your problem is that another stream to 48.3 was open. So if you only have a dual tuner you ran out of tuners. Is this one of the older HDHRs that used UDP?1 point

Hi, Typically you only have to open or relax the firewall rules for executable programs. The DLL files are used by the EXE so they don't need any special attention. Hope that helps1 point

You'll get few weeks running on cache, I reckon it was like 3 weeks longest I've got before needing to phone home. But it might create you problems with client apps sooner than that.1 point

@Nathy.FlixOnce Collections are made the library is visible to everyone and can only be hidden per users. Note Collections are now built off of library settings and individual item metadata.1 point

Hi, users can hide this using their home screen settings. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.1 point

FYI, root certificates on the TV are part of the TV firmware, not something packaged as part of the Emby client.1 point

The Gen 2 FireTV Stick supports the following flavour of HEVC :- H.265 (HEVC). Hardware accelerated up to 1080p @ 30fps, 25 Mbps, Main Profile Level 4.0, Color space 8-bit support Without an ffmpeg log or a media Info screen grab giving us the detailed information on EXACTLY what you are trying to play - we really have no way of advising further. You haven't mentioned the Audio type (below is what's supported on this device - anything else will need conversion and will likely force a transcode).. AC3 (Dolby Digital). Up to 48kHz, 6 channels, 16-bit and 24-bit eAC3 (Dolby Digital Plus). Up to 48kHz, 6 channels, 16-bit and 24-bit AAC-LC. Up to 96kHz, 6 channels, 16-bit and 24-bit HE-AACv1 (AAC+). Up to 96kHz, 6 channels, 16-bit and 24-bit HE-AACv2 (enhanced AAC+). Up to 96kHz, 6 channels, 16-bit and 24-bit FLAC. Up to 48kHz, 2 channels, 16-bit and 24-bit (no dither for 24 bit) MIDI. MIDI (Type 0 and 1), DLS (Version 1 and 2), XMF, and Mobile XMF. Ringtone formats RTTTL/RTX, OTA, and iMelody. MP3. Up to 48kHz, 2 channels in DSP (16-bit and 24-bit) and software (16-bit). Vorbis. Ogg (.ogg), Matroska (.mkv). PCM/Wave. Up to 96kHz, 6 channels, 16-bit and 24-bit. Opus. Up to 8 channels, 48 kHz.1 point

I too would like this feature. I don't have many users, but bw is an issue for them so saving on bw would be helpful. I like the idea of it being an advanced option such that it isn't on by default, but can be turned on by those that it would help.1 point
