Did I get right that, you are thinking about writing the calculated intro point as a chapter into the media files? IIRC if a chapter is available then Emby won't generate the 5min chapters anymore, so every file that only has the intro chapters will end up without the 5min chapters Emby usually creates.2 points

I'm still having issues with syncing to always on devices. Last night I watched and deleted a few episodes after watch on the Shield, On the Fire TV all those episodes where still shown as unwatched. Also during the night a new episode was added to Emby, on both the Shield and Fire TV that episode didn't show until I restarted the the E4K plugin. This was with 6.0.6 build 24 (ex2) on both devices. Edit: it looks like these sync fails only happen when the device is on but not used for some time. The Shield is connected wired, the stick wireless. I will check Emby during the day see if it keep seeing both devices as connected.2 points

And this is the main point - as long as progress is steady, can be paused, stopped and resumed - then it doesn't really matter how long it takes within reason. This is some heavy processing, so we probably need to set expectations on the first run.2 points

@Ryan_vl I found the code that was causing this. @neik If you guys find any other strange behavior in the plugin, let me know. Here is the fix. Emby.AutoOrganize.zip2 points

This is a smaller extras request that I haven't seen posted yet. While it's being decided how extras are advanced, can we get a sorting order for the various extras folders? Right now, I can sort them into Interviews, Deleted Scenes, Specials, etc. However, once uploaded to Emby they just mash together alphabetically, leaving you with this: Deleted Scene, Interview, Deleted Scene, Special, Featurette, Interview, Behind the Scenes, Featurette, Featurette, Deleted Scene, Special. It would be great if each Extras folder had a numbered value. That way the line in Emby looked more like: Interview, Interview, Deleted Scene, Deleted Scene, Deleted Scene, Behind the Scenes, Featurette, Featurette, Featurette, Special, Special. This would go a long way in making the Extras look much neater in their current state.1 point

I'm sure this has been asked, but I can't find anything useful. I'm attempting to play x265 encoded content, but the tablet I'm playing it on can't handle it. Every 10 seconds or so the video pauses for up to 5 seconds while audio continues to play. Looking at stats for nerds the video is going by "direct play". I don't want to drop the bit rate to the point I'm watching in 480p. I want to force the server to transcode it to x264 and stay at the original resolution. There used to be some setting somewhere where you could set some compatibility level like 4.1, 4.0 etc, but this appears to have disappeared (maybe that was Plex not Emby?). Going to settings just drops me into server settings now. I do have the option of using an external played like vlc which handles the content fine, but then I can't track the point to which I've watched etc. Anyone have any ideas? Thx.1 point

Hmmm strange. Restarted Emby server a lot after changing something. Did not work. Restarted the complete host => fixed. Thanks!1 point

Overall I would like the clients to offer a skip button. Chapters are a fine thing to do now, but in the future, if the data is solid enough, that is what I would like to see.1 point

Hi, The delete confirmation dialog has the buttons and colours reversed depending on if you're deleting a single file or if you're deleting multiple files. This constantly tricks me up due to muscle memory and my brain thinking "green button does this". Can they be made a little more consistent, or is this by design..? Examples from Emby Theater (v3.0.15) below, but the same is true in the Webapp (and possibly other apps). Thanks!1 point

Here's a feature request thread for improving the extras display you can vote for. The thread starter asked for sorting the existing list by extra type; I joined in to ask for the separation by type you're requesting. The current Emby team stance is maybe someday but probably not because they don't think very many people actually use the extras functionality.1 point

but why wont it a) do direct play without remux of audio b) fallback to direct stream and remux if it can't do direct play Plex does this using exoplayer which Emby also uses1 point

So, replying to myself, it seems that I found the source of the problem. Another folder in the same library had some wrong permissions. After fixing the permissions, the movie in questions was suddenly found during the sync. May I suggest to add more logging to the library scan code so that it better visible where there might be a problem? Thanks!1 point

Named? No. Unnamed but at specific points? The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Band of Brothers, Big Bang Theory, Blackadder, Breaking Bad, Chuck, Dekalog, Dexter, Fawlty Towers, House, Kyle XY, The Last Dance, Life on Mars, NCIS, The Newsroom, Oz, The Pacific, Police Squad, Prison Break, The Prisoner, Psych, Rush, The Sopranos, Twin Peaks, The Walking Dead, The West Wing, White Collar, The Wire, Yes Minister. QI is the only show I have that only has the autogenerated chapters. Quite a few of those shows already have a chapter point at the end of the intro, I'd wager.1 point

@rbjtech, thanks for the explanation. This information should also be stored in a file (nfo/xml) so that a rebuild wouldn't cause to rerun the complete fingerprinting etc. But I think you guys alraedy have it on the radar.1 point

I'm trying to get my head around why you would want to move existing chapter points ? tbh it's pretty rare to even have 'proper' chapter points in TV series - they are usually set by Emby to every 5 mins. But if you did have a 'real' Chapter - with a Name and a time - that is there for a reason and needs to be at that time - you cannot move it. It is highly unlikely that there will be a 'real' chapter inbetween the Intro Start and Intro End - but there may be an Emby auto chapter if the Intro is midway though the episode - is that what this condition is trying to capture and thus remove it and renumber the chapters ? Thanks !1 point

I agree. Or if you wanted to be really fancy, give them a popup warning that the task will be paused if they continue, and present the option to the end user. For now though I'd say a splash page informing the user that it can't be viewed during processing is probably easiest.1 point

Yep, the log exactly reflects the problem. Unfortunatly, there at not many infos what causes the issue. I hope it was the same as I experianced. If not let me know and I'll send you a debug version.1 point

Yes, but the task had not completed - thus it 'stopped' as presumably it was looking for FP that wasn't there. I should have deleted the dB before trying .7 but didn't - so I'm going to put it down to that. I'm also going to try a couple of manual 'stops' on both the FP and Detect tasks and check the recovery. (using .8)1 point

In short - no. The only way to watch 4K HDR content without transcoding issues is to Direct Play. The only to Direct Play is to ensure your client can natively play the Video AND Audio codecs. A Samsung TV with the latest Emby Client CAN Direct play a 4K Remux without an issue (in HDR) - but you must select AC3 as the Audio BEFORE you hit play. I still don't understand why Emby cannot automatically select this as part of it's 'what's best' algorithm vs the transcoding or Direct Streaming option which obviously loses all HDR, poor quality and is totally unnecessary given a DirectPlay Audio track is available ...1 point

I change my TV to USA so I can download emby from the store, so I'll wait for next update.1 point

Hi,in the newest beta version (6.0.5-build 122 (ex9)) strm files doesn't work anymore. You always get the Error "File doesn't exist anymore". The problem is that in the table files the strFileName only shows ?url=example and not plugin://plugin.video.example/?url=example so kodi doesn't find the data anymore. If i replace the lines Filename = obj['FullPath'].rsplit('\\', 1)[1] if '\\' in obj['FullPath'] else obj['FullPath'].rsplit('/', 1)[1] Filename = self.EmbyServer.Utils.StringDecode(Filename) to Filename = obj['FullPath' . It works again. Greetings Nerto1 point

Hi there, While saving Chapter Markers with the media would certainly be a handy feature in case of a rebuild, I don't think that's what you're after. Storing 10-second bifs within media folders gives a considerable advantage during rebuild due to the huge number of images, as opposed to Chapter Marker thumbnails which can be 'relatively' easy re-extracted if such need arose. Anyway, why are you under the impression that any client app "needs" them (Roku vs Chromecast with Google TV)? No client app does, and not all client apps do make use of them. Emby eco-system is certainly going in that direction, to unify features within all apps but it ain't there yet. It is a server feture: you extract Chapter Thumbnails once, and any app that can use them will. Even if you don't extract them, same function can still be used with blank placeholders. So if you could explain the reason for which you think it is a necessity to have it in that structure maybe we can sort it out?1 point

So it's finished the fingerprinting ~1 hour ago, which is reasonable I suppose. From the look of the screenshot below I'd imaging it will try Title detection in another hour, will see how that triggers. I did have a thought, what do you think about when we chunk it (for slower systems) we also have an option to chunk Title Sequence Detection as well? i.e. once each series is fingerprinted it runs the Detection on them rather than waiting for all the fingerprinting to be complete? It might slow down the overall processing time switching between tasks, but for those slower systems the "payoff" might come earlier so it feels faster and that it's making progress.1 point

Friends, Can anyone disable this camera upload function? I realize that this is making a high use of the server and in some cases, it even brings down the emby server1 point

Okay now podnapisi subtitles it works, no idea if it was just the wait time, or the fact that i gave full permission to everything for the folder where TV Shows were located, gave permissions to the emby user, internal system users, and for groups i gave custom permissions, just everything. then a restart and it works. No clue what made a difference1 point

Ha, sorry, I forgot I posted this. Anyway, its a samsung galaxy tab 10A (2018 model). It can handle some x265 ok, but not all. Android 10. It would be a nice feature to have (that is, an option to force transcoding, if the device cant handle it, and emby doesnt realise it). The video stream itself from VLC Media Info; HVC1, 1920x1080 24fps 2001kbps [V: hevc main 10 L4.0, yuv420p10le] I ended watching it on a tv, via chromecast which could handle it.1 point

Bumping this rather than starting a new thread. My expectation when I saw that Emby supported multiple folders for special features was that each supported folder name would have its own strip under the movie in the client app. If you just did the main 'extras' folder, that's all you'd see, but if you took the time to break your special features down by type and put them in a corresponding folder, you'd see the results of that effort in the client app. After I didn't see what I expected, I looked into it more, and it seems like the alternative folder names are just there to accommodate content generators with their own established folder structures. But..I'd really like to see special features get that grouped presentation I originally envisioned. And maybe someday, their own dedicated tab where you can watch special features by type across movies and other fancy playback options.1 point

Thanks. I understand what you're saying to do. But I'm not going to do that to thousands of files. And no one should really have to when we are already separating them into their own folders. It just seems like keeping them sorted when loaded into Emby is the most efficient and clean option for every user.1 point
-
That's a nice manual option, that I'll use for certain deleted scenes or BTS if it's split into multiple segments. But it'd be nice to have them auto sort and not waste some of the name space on "Interview" or "Featurette". Even an option in the library settings that allows you to choose the order in which the files are sorted.1 point

I can understand why you might feel that way, but I don't really think it works out that way when you consider the way we interface with the program. The synopsis is what helps me learn about a movie. If I'm interested in learning more about a specific actor, then I will scroll down. Them being IN the movie doesn't help me learn more ABOUT the movie, and clicking on them only tells me more about the actor and their other roles, not more about that particular movie in itself. Why is Addtional Parts above cast and crew then? The only thing additional parts tells me is to explain why the Runtime at the top of the screen is wrong...because there are additional parts. The true crux of the issue is that there is no visual indication that a movie has Extras, unless you go out of your way to seek it out. Literally EVERY movie has a cast and crew. It is expected and known to the user that it will be there. Not every movie in a collection, and for some collections very few movies, will have extras, so it would make the most sense to highlight those things in some way when they are available. Reordering the display is the simplest way to do that. Otherwise, adding some visual indicator would be helpful, but less preferred. You also have to consider that you have a lot more 'users' accessing Emby than you do 'server admins'. I'm not the only person accessing my library, so while I might know exactly which movies have extras (which I don't), that doesn't mean my users know which have extras. You would be surprised how many people, particularly older folks like my mom, would never even think to scroll down past the cast to look for extras. If I have to scroll past the cast and crew EVERY time to see if a movie has extras, and 95% of the time there aren't any, eventually I'm going to stop even looking for them. Conversly, if they were immediately noticeable right under the synopsis, I would ALWAYS know which movies had extras without any additional clicks. Only movies that actually HAVE extras will show the extras line, otherwise it is hidden and the cast is there like you see now.1 point

Man, this makes me feel like less of a man. I spent $120 on a used i5, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, and Linux Mint 19. Using the motherboard graphics - Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200. It handles everything fine, but then again, I'm not serving more than a few streams, so it works fine. The only thing it doesn't do super awesome is play 1080i content from our local NBC affiliate. I have an HDHomerun Duo, and have everything set to deinterlace live TV, but on my Fire TV, it still looks noticeably worse than the same source on Kodi with Bob deinterlacing (through TVHeadend). Any clues about that? I'm trying to go to a single point solution. Currently I use emby for everything, EXCEPT live TV on NBC. I'd love to move to emby for everything.1 point

It was awesome integrated with Emby before, not so much now. The best way to use it is to recode the entire video and just use MCE Buddy to make chapter markers leaving the video untouched. You used to be able to skip chapters in Emby making it very convenient to use. Now skip chapter has become skip to the next file I suppose to appease the 8 people using Emby primarily for music. Makes absolutely no sense to me as chapter skip seems way more useful than skipping to the next file in 90% of use cases. A better approach IMO would be to make fast forward and rewind the track skip in music libraries only. I don't imagine too many people seek through songs. Alternatively you could make the controls specific to library type.1 point
