Great to hear from you on this topic. Thanks for telling us what CANNOT be done. Can you please tell us what CAN be done ? I think many Emby supporters will be looking to Emby for some leadership to move forward. Thanks.2 points

It would be useful to have a "scroll-to-top" button present universally for any given page of the web ui. If you need an example of what this means, scroll down on any page of these forums. After a certain point, you will see the button fade-in on the bottom-right of your screen. I can see this request being countered with "this can already be achieved by using the alphabet selector on the side". However, this is not present in many places where a scroll-to-top button would still prove to be incredibly useful. For instance, when viewing a full library with sorting options set to anything other than 'Title'.2 points

Ok so my request is to be able to search each library separate as it stands when you search it searches everything, and if like me you have 30k music tracks 10k books/comics 10k episodes and 10k+ movies, searching is slow so is it possible to have a search section for each library individually1 point

Hi, I’d love that audio and subtitles choice would be saved per show, according to what you select on the last episode you watched. The main audio/subtitles parameters is a good point but there are many cases it is not enough and you need to adjust audio and subtitles at the beginning of every episodes. For example i like to watch Casa de Pale in Spanish with french subtitles, The Big Bang Theory in English with french subtitles, French TV shows in french without subtitles, ....1 point

I would like to request a sleep timer function for the Emby app. For example, when a song is playing, it should be possible to quickly and easily set a sleep timer to shut off the song after a desired interval. Options could include 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, 60, 120 minutes. If it had this, I would be happy to purchase Premiere.1 point

Hey fellow developers and team! So.... I signed up for Co-Pilot (that AI driven development bot from Microsoft). I WAS ACCEPTED! I got it and it is installed. I just want to say... That thing is crazy. Just absolutely... crazy. I swear it is reading my mind. it just might be the most intuitive AI, I have ever seen. Code Writing Code. Mark my words: "If you are not afraid of AI... you should be." But, it seems to have learned the Emby API, and the intellesense is like nothing I have ever seen. Guys! IT KNOWS! It knows the Emby API, and suggests things I would have not even thought about. Let alone the JavaScript is literally writing itself. My mind is blown away.1 point

Forget that step, you don't need it. That step wasn't in the video and I just removed it from the Op post.1 point

Here's the thread. Multiple Versions of a Movie - Emby Server - Emby Community. ebr says the same thing Luke just said. It picks the first version that can direct play, which isn't my preference, but that's the way it works.1 point
-
It's possible that the 1080p version can direct play, and the 4k version can't. Or that the 1080p version can play more efficiently. That will affect the version selection. We've never said it would pick the highest quality version on the local network. We've only said that automatic on the local network will not restrict the quality based on bitrate. The version selection is not just about bitrate, it's about which version can play the most efficiently. But we'd have to look at a specific example, otherwise we're just generalizing:1 point

I figured it out...The problem was old nfo left in a subfolder. Deleted all these folders and now all local Trailers play nice. Thx.1 point

Yes we will be adding that feature. Thanks for the feedback.1 point

Using a HD Homerun - in the UK (DVB) - subtitles are saved in the .TS file without any issues. The fundamental issue is ffmpeg does not natively support DVB subtitles. So while it can recognise them in the stream headers, it cannot do anything with them. Infact it can't even copy them. You need an external library to read them called ZVBI .. link here https://www.ffmpeg.org/general.html#ZVBI The library source is available, but I could not find any binaries online. In summary - It's unlikely that emby will support DVB subs as they then become dependant on this unsupported library. If you really need the subs - then the best option is to use something like Subtitle Edit - this DOES read DVB Subs from the TS - but you then need to use OCR to write them to a standard text based format. You need to do this BEFORE you convert them.. OCR of DVBSUBS is very accurate, so it will run through without issues ... Then just save the resulting file as a .srt (text) based file the same name as your converted file - and Emby will use (external) subtitles the same as any other media file. If you really wanted to, you can embed the .srt back into the media container - but that's another optional step.1 point

not that playlists shouldnt be tried, they have a place..... I think it would be a good thing if collections get a bit more love....collections have some uniquely useful characteristics. Collections are better for organising in that they can store containers like albums........if you add an album to a playlist it will get flattened into tracks..1 point

That should be default behavior. I've got ALL my trailers locally stored, and have no issues whatsoever, them being stored either in Movie folder or \trailers\ subfolder. Note that if you keep them in your movie folder, name should be <moviefilename>-trailer.ext, not <foldername>-trailer.ext.1 point

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS test something new like this on a test library before committing to running it against your real files!1 point

If it's working in one app but not the other, there's nothing i can do. Sometimes it helps to delete the device from the device list and restart Emby.1 point

Emby been working fine since I did the update to DSM the week it came out for all other folders expect for photo. Actually the security for "photo" is not the same as user created shares. All my other folders are working fine except for the Synolgoy photo directory "/volume1/photo". I was able to solve this by adding emby into the Synolgoy system group administrators: sysnogroup -get administrators This lists out all the accounts in the group administrators: Group Name: [administrators] Group Type: [AUTH_LOCAL] Group ID: [101] Group Members: 0:[admin] There is only one member of "admin" so being very carful to use the: synogroup -member administrators admin emby Which now configured the administrators group with "admin" and "emby" synogroup -get administrators Now it shows both accounts in the group: Group Name: [administrators] Group Type: [AUTH_LOCAL] Group ID: [101] Group Members: 0:[admin] 1:[emby] After doing that and selecting the /volume1/photo directly in a Family Photos library it indexed them just fine.1 point

Just tried with plugin.video.emby-next-gen-6.0.3-build 117 (ex18).zip but the problem remains. I removed and re-created my kodi profile but I didn't uninstall the older plugin.1 point

You're right, that's why I said to pull the rest of the app from the Emby Server, meaning your Emby Server, the one you control and must be reachable from your TV to serve your content.1 point

If your router supports custom dns entries, you can point the local address to anything you want. If not, you can run your own dns server - depending on the operating systems you have available - and then point your router to that. If you don’t want to enter the Emby port in clients and web browsers alongside the domain, you can take it a step further by setting up a reverse proxy to point the domain to the Emby port. From there you would just use the domain when connecting in web browsers, and in clients you would leave the port field empty.1 point

Wow guys, I mean to each their own.. I was just being polite. Pointing out that 30 out of 30k users isn't going to get this feature built into emby because you say its super super important, then start talking down to everyone (last part really doesn't help your case). You guys continue to be Karen's, the rest of us that want another DB well, we will wait until there is a technical requirement for it, or all of the sudden my parents that have an emby server, and the other 30k people like my parents, decide they want a different database that they have no idea is even running in the background or exists, hops on here and requests the feature. A total of 8 posts and 42 posts from these noobs that think they can come in here and act like fools just because they discovered emby. I mean, I've already turned off notifications on this post so i wouldn't even bother with a response, but you still will respond.. not worth any of our time addressing these temper tantrums.1 point

Hi, I've been noticing changes in the YouTube LG App without the TV actually asking to install an update so in the YouTube app I went to the Settings/About/App version and realized that there it states the version is: web_20210803_10_RC00, pay attention to the version that it has a date in it... while in the LG Content Store the YouTube app says it was updated 23/07/2021. I think this might be a solution to the Emby app LG approval problem... make an Emby app that is just like "a skeleton", and within that skeleton pull the updates, the code or the build what makes the app transparently from the Emby Server, just like YouTube is apparently doing. YouTube App and Lg Content Store pictures attached.1 point

Emby for Samsung 1.1 is up for USB download. This release is a fun one, with new features in the video OSD:1 point

By 'wrong names' I'm making the assumption that it has been looked up by the metadata providers and an option given by emby (ie identify). Sonarr/Radarr does exactly the same for an imported item using the same metadata providers but also has the option to rename the source (unlike emby). So if I have a folder/file called 'Star Wars 1.mkv' - then on import, it's going to give me the option to classify that movie as 'Star Wars, Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)' - I take that option and it renamed the file and the folder accordingly to 'Star Wars, Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999).mkv' If the file is named 'chapter1' then neither emby nor *arr is going to be able to identify it !1 point

Hi, this doesn't directly answer your question, but we are interested in adding these kinds of features to Emby DVR in future updates. thanks.1 point

You can use his user permissions to cap his remote streaming quality. Then even if he has specified a higher setting on his end, it will never exceed the value you set on the server.1 point

Hi. You kind already said it. There are literally hundreds of "good" ideas. We're sorry but they cannot all be first and some of them, for various reasons, may take a long time and even never make it into the product. We have to weigh all of the requests against many factors and choose things we think make the most impact for the most users. Thanks for your support.1 point
