Exactly this. TMDB no longer allow 'Collections' on groups of films that are not directly related to each other. ie Jaws 1, 2 & 3 The 'Cornetto Trilogy' (ie Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and the Worlds End) are not related - thus they are not in TMDB as a 'Collection'.3 points

Exactly - changing the permission for system users did the trick! Thanks and solved2 points

The biggest thing people miss by not following the guide is that very last section on setting shared folder permissions which changed in DSM 72 points

I tried telling EMBY to use an external player (VLC) which I DO have installed on my little server, and I WAS able to play a 3D movie properly!!! (YAY!!!)... I did turn on "debug logging", and will look for the log to see if I can send it...hopefully that'll help, but at least I now have a solution that works!!!...thanks for suggesting it!!! Hi cayars... thanks for the suggestion...I attempted what you suggested but unfortunately, 3D settings CANNOT be changed on the projector WHILE the movie is playing it would seem... rbjtech's suggestion of setting it to use an external player DID however work, so, at least there is SOME progress!!! THANKS A MILLION to everyone helping out to find the solution to my little problem!!! Gerry...2 points

It looks like your settings for TVH have pass set as the default. Yes, you want Emby to get the stream in its original form and let it handle transcoding if needed based on the clients. Otherwise there's a chance of a stream being transcoded twice, once by TVH and then again by Emby. Adding overhead and degrading quality.2 points

Is this doable by some sort of plugin ? Maybe add your imdb credentials and then be able to rate movies here and have them on imdb as well (not talking about sorting here, just rating stuff)1 point

I am switching over from a Win7 box running MBC to Chromecast dongles. With the Win7 box I had a HDMI to Cat6 setup that allowed me to stream to up to 4 displays/TVs simultaneously. It was great while it lasted, but involved stapling cables to the ceiling to run it from room to room - plus it has borked Can there be an option to multi-cast to several receivers at once? i.e. simultaneously play to Chromecast dongles in my office and living room and kitchen simultaneously so i can walk from room to room without stopping and restarting the movie or show all the time? I realize that bandwidth could POTENTIALLY be an issue, but i have a fill gigabit network and a multi-port NAS so that really is the least of my worries... Thank you!1 point

I have created a music library and I am trying to get json response for it but haven't been able to find a way to get the response I want with emby api. I would really appreciate if anyone could help me! I have a folder structure like this: Music: Album1: Music1.mp3 Music2.mp3 Album2: Music1.mp3 Music2.mp3 and I am trying to get response like this: Items[ Album1: { AlbumName Music1: { Name .... } Music2: { Name .... } }, Album2: { AlbumName Music1: { Name .... } Music2: { Name .... } } ]1 point

Hi, sounds like you didn't follow the migration guide for Emby going from DSM 6 to DSM 7. Start out right after the upgrade to DSM 7 in the instructions.1 point

Sounds like you were running Emby as a portable install. Just remove the folder you created from the ZIP file. If you want to remove any data that might have been written go to C:\Users\YOUR-USER-NAME\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server and remove this Emby-Server folder.1 point

Hello, sorry for the late reply. The problem that the plugin does not display anything is solved in that the plugin shows when a movie has been found. Otherwise it unfortunately shows nothing1 point

For the past couple years I've been using a certain file (1920 x 816, green line appears on bottom) to check to see if this issue persists. Since the 4.6 update, that file is perfect with QS decoding turned on. Then the other day I started a transcode with a different file (1520 x 1080) and it showed the green line on the right side. Since your post I've gone through a couple dozen more files, most divisible by 16, some not. I haven't seen any more green lines, but one file (1280 x 546) shows some distortion at the bottom of the image - it looks like one line is being repeated and covering the last 20 or so lines. And once again, turning off QS decoding turns it back to normal. So I think I've hit my personal dead end with this issue. QS decoding will stay off from now on. Maybe next CPU/GPU I'll give it a try again, but either way it's not a big deal since the hit to the CPU is not that bad. Thanks everybody Emby still kicks ass.1 point

What library type is that? If it was Movie-type, you should be able to select landing page in Home Screen settings. If it is Mixed-type then the Folder tab is the default (and only) landing page. Collections should be enabled by default - do you have it listed/enabled "Display on home screen" in your Home Screen settings?1 point
-
Likely to be Dolby Vision encoding .. You'll need to use MediaInfo to show this layer detail - emby/ffmpeg will not tell you this.1 point

Indeed. How exactly was using other software that was similar going to accomplish your goal? Where exactly was there an issue? Can you give us clues where the other software was successful where this software was not? Why is it easier to use a competitors software than our own? We are very interested in how you came about that decision and what we can do to make it easier for you not to have to come to this decision. How can we help you? How can we help your mother? Without knowing we cannot offer assistance only apologies. Can you take the time to offer us some insight? Thanks.1 point

AFAIK Lists were never supported even in plugin (I might as well be wrong), it is however possible that that Collection DID actually exist at some point and was removed at a later stage due to policies change; I cannot, however, see that automatic scraping would ever be feasible unless some sort of provision for manually selecting it is introduced: as same movie can be a part of (theoretically) countless Lists, you would end up with just as many Collections created?1 point
-
That ain't a Collection but a List, neither of those movies belong to any Movie Set so TMDB API won't return any <set> info for them, i.e. that info cannot be scraped. You can manually create that Collection if inclined so. Edit: Some read here:1 point

This did the trick. Thanks! I kind of did this but somehow it confused itself. I now presume this information was still in cache too. Thanks again bud, panic over, and a reminder I ought to back up my library again!1 point

Yes that's true but keep in mind many of the things you mentioned are app settings not user settings as the different apps don't all have the same views or features.1 point

The restart never worked for the service, I do not know how it could to be honest thinking from a programming perspective. Is it starting the service or the program running in the "hidden icons". The shutdown used to work to kill the executable in the task manager is all I know which I do not think should make a difference if it were started from the service or the tray icon, no?1 point

The wife reports the android app is no better that the GoogleTV native app for the shield. I will leave it there in the background for any future testing..... In summary, I guess the quality of the AAC stereo mix is to blame. I have created a release profile and added a custom Surround-Priority profile that adds ratings for Atmos (50), 7.1 (40), 5.1 (20), DTS (20), Surround (10) and to ignore anything that has 'stereo' - this may help for the future.1 point

Your ffmpeg logs tell the opposite. Both channels where transcoded. ServusTV because of to high (estimated) bitrate. Nitro because of not supported video codec. Why don't you just lower the in-app bitrate or the server side maximum remote streaming bitrate? That will also force transcode your 720p channels and removes the stuttering that probably happens because of bandwidth limitations. @cayars it does transcode hw accelerated, so that shouldn't be a problem.1 point

I have a good feeling about upcomming releases of the LG app. I know Sam is aware of the current issues. In the mean time, I ended up buying a fire tv stick 4k for my LG tv. Not that the LG tv Emby app was bad (it was fine), but overall the LG tv is bad. I complained about the lack of DTS to LG, and they responded with "yes LG tv's don't handle DTS". Wow! Okay... Anyway, now the fire stick 4K direct plays all the HDR stuff and it is just fine. Now for that Xbox so I can play Destiny 2 at 4k... Hmmm....1 point

@niek Would it be possible to load this dll and see that you had no issues in the UI? I have a feeling the plugin is about to get a lot of functionality we've been missing. DOWNLOAD: Emby.AutoOrganize.zip1 point

My introduction to this forum was the first week of July after my brother and I bought an LG tv, having verified (via Emby’s homepage) that they had an LG WebOS app. When I couldn’t find Emby in the App Store, I found this forum and have since read every post dated since January. I’ve since waited patiently hoping that “soon” meant about 5 months. Takeaway: YES. Take down the LG WebOS page on the Emby website. If LG is a shit company who doesn’t support Emby, then let’s not give our Emby community a reason to buy their TVs. And, more LG users is just going to make this problem worse. Today, I stood up a Plex instance to run beside my Emby instance. Thought I would try it out, see how their service works, and my brother can be the pilot user since he doesn’t have Emby on his TV. Yes, this is true; but sadly, Plex I’ve found to be garbage (sadly because as users we have only one option, one hope). While their apps can be polished and some functions might work better than Emby, Plex is just not as functional for self-hosters. Plex is going the way of Pluto tv and other free-Ad-based services. Also, when grandpa forgets his password, I’d like to be able to reset it for him (local accounts, LDAP support, etc). I think Emby has the capability of building us the features we want while Plex has other motives. Takeaway: Emby is the best platform for self-hosted content out there. Yes, it has it’s quarks and areas for improvement, but it’s the only platform that will ever give it’s users the freedom, features, and cohesiveness our community is looking for. Note to Devs: Don’t copy the bad parts of Plex! That being said, I think we need to support our Emby Devs more regularly (I prefer using a donate button over subscriptions). Because I want to see continued support, new features, etc. To note; I don’t know how much staff Emby has, and when I visit forums, I can tell how much work it is to keep up with all the posts, questions, etc. We get what we get, but we can only get it from them. @Luke, @ebr, @chef Thank you for all the work you do to keep the community around for another day; It’s a lot of work and I/we truly appreciate it. DM me anytime for coffee. Looping back around to the topic at hand; while I too want the Emby app on the LG App Store, I’m not sure there is anything we can do but wait and support our Emby staff in the meantime. I’m just hoping the Emby team has our best interest at heart and knows that if they need our support (i.e. building leverage in the LG forums, money to support more dev time) that they communicate that to us effectively.1 point

Hey guys, I think it took me one year to release a new beta version but it's finally here. It has been a long and hard year. We are on version beta.26, you can download it here: https://github.com/mregni/EmbyStat/releases. You didn't miss beta.25 I just made 2 releases on the same day because beta.25 needed some more fixing first. Biggest change is that I reenabled the show pages and the missing episode list. It's still not 100% but it's something to start with. Also I did some redesign stuff and changed the filters on the movie page. I hope you like it! Next up is cleaning my GitHub issues section so I can have a clean restart of the project again. Have fun testing!1 point

Kodi has a setting that allows you to override ASS subtitle formatting and use whatever font you have installed while keeping the positioning data. I would like this functionality added to the Android TV app so that I can use the default sizing and font of the Emby app instead of the font and sizing information from the ASS/SSA subs without the need for transcoding. This will allow me to replace the ASS/SSA subtitles in situations where the provided font is hard to read or the size is too small.1 point

Allow the ability to tag an entire library as well. I have a similar problem in that I want to share only some Movies with my parents, but allow them to see all Photos. Unfortunately that scenario isn't possible because as soon as I tag a Movie to share with them, I can no longer share the photos unless I tag EVERY photo. Vic's bulk tagger is decent, but it still requires going into hundreds of folders and manually tagging. Not exactly ideal just to share photos with family.1 point

This company is a joke! I reported the bug over a year already! And nobody cares to look at it. How do they dare to ask people to pay for their product??? I lost my hopes with Emby few months ago and went for Plex. Glad I didn't waste any more time with this peace of junk...1 point
