So a quick update - I have zero issues with direct playback and client side forced transcoding - so the issue appears to be the client users internet connection as the client is wired to the ISP router/switch. We are going to repeat the testing tonight during peak periods as sometimes VM have a habit of over subscribing their network but at 2-3 Mbit/sec I'd be surprised if it was this. edit - so some further testing has revealed that the upload limit is approx 20Mbit (as expected) and the OP can run multiple streams up to this limit without issue - so I believe the server side of emby is good. The only oddity, which I have seen before, is Auto on the web client thinks the best connection is 6Mbit/sec - when it clearly could be much higher. Maybe it's being very conservative in it's estimate - but by forcing the client to 15Mbit/sec - it direct plays just fine. I would therefore try and set the xbox client to say 10Mbit instead of Auto - this should then not interfere with any bandwidth calculations. If the xbox client still can't play a 2-3Mbit/sec file - then I would suggest a speedtest, followed by a call to VM to ask them to test the broadband.3 points

The ability to manage Multi-versions has been added to the plugin my pull request. It will sort based on: 2160p, 1080p, 720p, 480p Also, if the item in the activity log is a possible duplicate of an item in the library it won't copy the file but instead mark it as "File existing". Unless you have "Overwrite Existing files" checked. Then it will move the file automatically. You can check out the pre release DLL in this thread:2 points

Hello looks like it isn’t possible to sort by channel numbers if channels are sorted into tags (groups). Would you please mind adding it or are there some limitations which doesn’t make it possible?1 point

I'm not sure how this happened, but I recently noticed I have a massive number of duplicate recording folders (over 200), all called Recordings, and all pointing to the same file system path. I can delete these thru the GUI but its very time consuming. I have 2 questions: First, does anyone know how this happened so I can prevent it from ocurring again? And second, is there a way on the Emby server (Linux server) to remove these extra libraries in mass from the Linux command line? Of course I want to make sure at least one of the Recording libraries remains and that all the recordings in it do not get deleted. Thanks in advance.1 point

Luke has mentioned bring back reading as there are features that only exist in the nfo like Overview. Now if everything could be self contained in the tracks then sure album.nfo could be obsolete.1 point

Hi, It would be nice to have a few more infos for the running streams. I saw threads for seeing the transcoding bitrate and i would also love to see the exact file. Actually if i have a movie in 1080p and in 4K i just see the title but i don't know if the user is trying to stream the 4K Movie or the normal 1080p stream. This would be really helpful and a nice to have feature. thanks1 point

But what is making older items fall off the list? Images above show the issue.1 point

Oh. Interesting. Thanks. In my opinion, there is still some logic that should be looked into with the subtitle download feature to ensure that it's pulling the srt for the correct version (the one you are currently watching).1 point

I like to keep my files stored together so for example my drive D might hold Movies starting with number or A, the next drive B & C, etc.. Then on top of this I have 4K and 3D movies in yet other locations. Then with TV Shows I have things organized by if the show is still running or ended and if I have all episodes or not. Probably way to complex for most people but fits the way I manage things quite well.1 point

You're doing some great work @chef. I just did some testing with and it seems like you've fixed some issues. I wish I could use this plugin myself but I have fine control over what drive stuff goes on based on what letter the movie or series start with making this a no go.1 point

I use Media Center Master. I must have messed out with the fetchers, as it was not using TMDB (hence no values). I fixed it, refreshed the metadata, all fixed now. Thanks for your help!1 point

Maybe try restating the fire is not done. Ill advise installing sdmaid to clean the device, it can remove leftover from previously installed apps.1 point

@chef as you currently seem to update the plugin. Any idea about this one? Best regards!1 point

When using the PGSSUB your NAS configuration is not able to process this in hardware and reverts to software transcoding. >>>>>> Processing Plan Info Name CanDoInHardware WillDoInHardware Reason Info VAAPI GeminiLake UHD Graphics 600 - M... >> True True Hardware Codec Info VideoInput >> True False Same adapter (/dev/dri/renderD128), s... Info SubtitleOverlay >> False False Info VideoOutput >> True True Hardware encoder Info VAAPI GeminiLake UHD Graphics 600 - H... >> True True Hardware Codec Then trying to transcode via software it's not fast enough to keep up. 19:15:41.164 frame= 1098 fps=7.3 q=-0.0 size= 116738kB time=00:00:45.78 bitrate=20972.4kbits/s throttle=off speed=0.303x 19:15:41.839 frame= 1102 fps=7.3 q=-0.0 size= 116738kB time=00:00:45.97 bitrate=20884.0kbits/s throttle=off speed=0.304x 19:15:42.255 frame= 1106 fps=7.3 q=-0.0 size= 116738kB time=00:00:46.07 bitrate=20840.3kbits/s throttle=off speed=0.303x What you should try and do is download an SRT subtitle that can be used for this media while still allowing hardware transcoding.1 point

tbh @chef, I've never used Auto organise for movies - only TV shows. But Auto-detect must mean try and identify the movie and if so, create a folder for it (in a default selectable library - ie root folder) just like you normally would. It's the equivalent of "Enable new series creation" for TV series I believe.1 point

Having 100% legal movie content is very complicated, as there are virtually no sources of DRM-free legal movies. We have the option of ripping discs, but copy protection must be broken, which is illegal in many countries. Live TV recording is prohibited in many countries. Download movies too. But obviously, these infractions are the responsibility of the user, never of Emby.1 point

If you are not getting DTS passed through directly to your AVR make sure you have set the following: 1) The CC must be set to AUTO in the audio settings 2) Emby app must also be set to AUTO in the audio setting 3) Make sure the DTS option is turned ON in Emby audio settings If you're getting DTS transcoded to Dolby Digital, that means Emby app doesn't detect a DTS support on the CC, therefore, if you don't want Dolby Digital then uncheck the DTS option and you'll get multichannel PCM. For some reason the Emby app doesn't detect the DTS support on most Android TV devices but DTS passthrough works with other apps such as VLC, Nova Video Player, MX Player, etc.1 point

Maybe...I can try that. I've got more than 50 that are having an issue though so preferably I'd like to see it fixed. I'll try it at least to see if wma's and punctuation are an issue. I would think Luke could tell us that pretty easily though since he knows how it's coded.1 point

I found the issue and can reproduce the error, you can remove your log files now. I will try to fix it and also build a Kodi 19 version with the prev fixes and changes for custom nodes.1 point

Why is a good question. It writes to the recording destination path and also to the transcoding temp path while the recording is active. It may have something to do with being able to start watching the recording after it begins and still active. The file used for playback would already be in the temp path but this is only a guess.1 point

You can get that behavior. The paradigm is.. if you want to play an item from a row, or the guide, or directly from channels use the Play button on the remote. If you want more information about the item prior to playback (such as pick versions, or adjust audio/subtitles before playback) press the Ok button on the remote. Because there are two buttons possible to enter an item it is that easy. Most Emby apps should work in similar fashion. Anything else you feel is an issue? We are all ears. Rabbit ears.. *pun intended*1 point

It works! w00t I got the guide working too, this part is all new to me, will have to fiddle around with it. locast on emby is awesome! I'll have to filter it down to just a few channels, so my mom doesn't panic from information overload HAH1 point

I believe my issue was resolved. I probably didn't need to nuke everything, but I figured, why not. I've watched about 10 episodes of Castle a few episodes of Family Guy and they are playing back to back as expected.1 point

I have the exact opposite experience. I set Emby and forget it and it just works for me. With Plex I constantly have to tweak something. Keep in mind I know both platforms pretty well so this isn't a favorite thing at all on my part. One of the "golden secrets" to having a good streaming media server is having your files in a format good for streaming such as mp3, flac, mp4, mkv with common codecs that players can use without needing special treatment. Follow those steps and streaming life is so much easier.1 point

Well there are a lot of installs where is in that location, but yes newer installs have the programdata folder, so it is a matter of when one installed as it could be in MediaBrowser-server also.1 point

Their rss feeds have direct video links so you could just import them into the podcasts plugin: https://twit.tv/subscribe In fact now that I've seen that, there's really no need to have this plugin anymore.1 point

I'm fairly sure this could be implemented quite easily and would be happy to do it if i could get access to some core code. This is how i would see it working. User input for each Series for intro time - this can be set by user (because there is not database or online API to set this perfectly for each show) User Option - Enable skip intros for TV Shows (Global setting) if this is enabled, all Episodes play will automatically skip the number of ticks the user has input in setting one. A Field would need to be added to the metadata for time to skip in seconds A Check Box setting would need to be added for tv shows - probably in the Playback options below the "play next episode automatically"1 point

Thanks for the advice but I have to say that Kodi sends multichanel PCM 7.1 playing Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD tracks. Tomorrow I'll test well in Emby. This year this little device don't stops to surpise me:1 point

If you are interested in this feature please like the post. Many photo enthusiast use RAW files when they take pictures; they come in a lot of different flavors and extensions. Here from WIkipedia: .3fr (Hasselblad) .ari (Arri_Alexa) .arw .srf .sr2 (Sony) .bay (Casio) .cri (Cintel) .crw .cr2 .cr3 (Canon) .cap .iiq .eip (Phase_One) .dcs .dcr .drf .k25 .kdc (Kodak) .dng (Adobe) .erf (Epson) .fff (Imacon/Hasselblad raw) .mef (Mamiya) .mdc (Minolta, Agfa) .mos (Leaf) .mrw (Minolta, Konica Minolta) .nef .nrw (Nikon) .orf (Olympus) .pef .ptx (Pentax) .pxn (Logitech) .R3D (RED Digital Cinema) .raf (Fuji) .raw .rw2 (Panasonic) .raw .rwl .dng (Leica) .rwz (Rawzor) .srw (Samsung) .x3f (Sigma) It would be a nice addition to be able to manage and display these in the Photo library ! I have checked and my Nikon .nef are not handled by Emby1 point

I totally agree with what fizzyade has said. I have been looking for something that will play my own music in a clean and simple manner outside of Emby as a native music player for an Emby music library isn't currently available. I have tried a few free services like Airsonic but having another server to manage wasn't great and kept crashing. I love Google Play Music as it works and does everything i want it too but it is closing its doors by the end of the year and YouTube music wants a premium for the same features that GPM offers for free now. I think there would be a big interest in a standalone Emby Music app. Emby has gathered a lot of attention and user respect over the years and to continue getting more Plex users to convert i feel it has to offer what people want if competition is offering it. Even Jellyfin has a Music App, even if it is in its infancy. Hopefully, developers can add this to the top of their 'to do list'.1 point
-
Simple. Only music related options and nothing else, it doesn't matter how hidden the video player is or otherwise, it needs to not be there. Take a look at Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, PlexAmp, they're optimised for a workflow dedicated to play music, they all have give or take the same look, feel and workflow. This is why my wife will use Plexamp and won't use Emby for playing music.1 point

Dear emby responsibles, I would like to state that the situation with the current version of emby’s app for Apple TV app is more than frustrating from a client’s POV and I really hope to get some comments to work with from you on that matter. It was January 29th, if I remember correctly, when you were switching to "your own" player (MPV, right?). So that is almost six months now. In summary, half a year where it has become obvious, that for ATV, this player lacks essential core functionality such as frame rate switching, black levels and other basic features that one would probably call mandatory for any kind of media software. We are talking about playing media, but at the end of the day exactly that is, what the app no longer is capable of, at least not in a way that one could accept. So: trash bin, full stop?! So far, all that has been fixed was nothing more than just cosmetics: not a single(!) fix or even just an improvement on essential functionality since the initial release in January. But even although it is has become clear, that developers are not capable of delivering solutions to the problem (wether that might be because of lacking knowledge or capacities or other reasons we don’t know of), you seem to strictly deny the possibility to revert back to apple’s standard player as an option. Is that stubborn heart? Vanity? Or worse? How should I rate such behaviour as a client? No solution on the horizon but alternatively sticking with faulty software? I just do not get it! Maybe there is an explanation that the whole community is not aware of and somebody would love to enlighten us on emby’s future path for ATV? To future perspective, with emby’s so far given resources and capabilites on ATV, I doubt it will get any better. How could you ensure to support major changes in forthcoming versions of tv OS that are already on the horizon when using your player? Yet alone, upcoming changes in tv OS 13 (less than 3 months to be released) will be quiet massive. And every single time apple will do changes, developers would probably again need to take hands on the emby app. Who is going to do this in the future? There where other projects with a way bigger base of developers that struggled on that matter. (just as an example: remember AirPlay Video?) From my personal point of view, in fact, emby might actually risk its excellent reputation. I already stopped recommending it a while ago which was what I did to a wider audience before. In retrospective, such a piece of software in early alpha stage may have never been released to the public. When it is about ATV, I personaly have to summarize, that emby does not seem to follow a serious and professional approach to be taken as a serious market contender. Right now, ATV is -in best case- not more than a hobby (and please, don’t mislead me: I do not mean that in apple’s terms!). Sorry to sound harsh, but after 6 months of nothing, I am just more than tired of being put off till later and my believe in a solution for ATV strongly fades away. As stated before, I would highly appreciate any comments with content to work with from you. Is there a roadmap for the ATV app? When will we be able to use a working ATV app again? Thanks for your time and kind regards, hi2hello (an emby client, abandoned on ATV)1 point

you may need to confirm the version of emby you are using as i think something changed recently where picard mbzid tags now take highest priority. take this with a pinch of salt, but my understanding of priority for artist extraction from tags in emby 4.2 is artist<artists<MUSICBRAINZ_ARTISTID i use picard... however i run a post filter on the output of picard via an mp3tag script to convert all linking words to emby's '/' separator eg vs. feat. featuring. with. (this is no longer necessary in 4.2 as mbzid tags take priority) my tracks for multiple artists in mp3tag look like (as an example) .. Artist=Katalyst;Stephanie McKay Artists=Katalyst/Stephanie McKay MUSICBRAINZ_ARTISTID=dec865b0-35e5-4291-b76d-020e5b524db3/719b2af7-d7ea-4ab4-b82e-d429d08e1a27 you may need to expand on 'double entries' and ' missing entries' i am not 100% following.. FWIW emby DOES support multiple album artists again ALBUMARTIST<ALBUMARTISTS<MUSICBRAINZ_ALBUMARTISTID eg. ALBUMARTIST=Robert Plant & Alison Krauss ALBUMARTISTS=Robert Plant/Alison Krauss (The '/' was required prior to 4.2 as the mbzid was not read/given highest priority - if you wanted Emby to detect Multiple Album Artists as they register on Musicbrainz) MUSICBRAINZ_ALBUMARTISTID=bd53f9a7-8be9-46b0-bf7d-1deea3cb57bc/6b064ead-91a4-4ac8-8076-b1febe4f4aac FWIW i use the following picard script to write out albumartists tag, but i dont think thats overly significant to your issue. $setmulti(albumartists,%_albumartists%) hope this helps.. i can clarify further if thats as clear as mud..1 point
