  1. As someone has already written here, Emby has/had (depending if you are on stable or beta server) some sort of 2FA as you are/were able to additionally restrict access by device. So, even if someone has the credentials he cannot login if the user is restricted to his devices only -> If someone tries to login from a unknown device he will not get in. But: With the next stable this is also gone, as the devs thought they needed to "improve" (in this case make it worse would suit better): https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/94474-46020-revamped-device-access-control/

  2. I guess your Roku has been updated to firmware v10, which is an unannounced beta. See this thread: Instructions for rolling back the firmware are here: https://community.roku.com/t5/Roku-Device-Features-Settings-Updates/Downgrading-Updates/td-p/519179 Paul

  3. @robertxgonzalez Edit: If you run into this issue, please do not revert your Roku firmware. Please install our beta app instead. back in business!

  4. I mentioned it in another thread, but thought I'd put it here since this looks like a new section--just for posterity. Would like to have a bulk meta data editor function. For example, if I have 750 videos whose producing studio is the same, I want to select those videos and apply the name of the studio to those videos. Similarly, if there is a custom tag I want to apply to a subset of those movies, I want to be able to select them in bulk and apply the tag to those videos (instead of selecting them one by one).

  5. With the multiple versions feature you get a pulldown in the web client to select the version. When you do, the other pulldowns for audio tracks and subtitles also change for that version. However the duration and the Ends At display remain the same even though the versions have different durations. Would it be possible to have those two fields in the display change with the chosen version? Thanks.

  6. No way! I am a nerd who absolutely loves this thing! Totally worth it in my opinion

  7. I don't think 2FA needs to be a one stop solution to securing emby. An incremental step forward to support 2FA for those users who have already secured their servers through SSL certs etc would be a step in the right direction. I'd vote against any plex style domain / certificate process personally.

  8. Yes, very helpful - thank you! I had recently created parental restrictions to hide empty rows in my EPG, but this caused problems elsewhere LOL

  9. I have 3 STB's. #1 Primary recording device HDPVR 1212 newer HD-PVR's aren't supported on Linux and I prefer firewire tuning. I primarily use it for AC-3 recordings (not a huge concern to Emby users with all the transcoding that goes on) but it is important to me. #2 URaytech HEVC HDMI encoder. Secondary device also smaller files Iguanaworks IR blaster. h264 probably is fine for most users and a lot cheaper. Multiple h/w transcoding configuration via 4 http "pages" #3 HDMI USB Firewire + svideo Iguanaworks IR blaster captured at 16:9. I pick and choose but for general purpose in the daytime CNN etc svideo is good enough in a small window. USB MJPEG Video and PCM transcoding takes extra CPU Martin

  10. As @cayars said HDMI and capture devices with blasters enable recording from STBs. Here in Canada for everything but OTA we must use these for satellite or cable since cable card, and TV Everywhere aren't available to us. I currently use 4 methods in NextPVR which does interface to Emby. I use the Hauppauge HD-PVR for capturing via component and HDMI, HDMI h264/h265 network encoders, HDMI USB grabbers and analog SD capture. I tune with LIRC and Firewire. Setting up tuning does require a bit of technical know how. The HD-PVR approach is the only one that supports 5:1 AC3 Martin

  11. For anyone that doesn't want to make the updates, here I have attached the updated addon.xml which you can copy into your skin folder on your box and re-load kodi. For anyone that needs to install fresh, here is the zip with the entire skin with the modified xml already baked in, where you can just install from zip file. All I did for this was download the zip from fred's repo, add in the modified addon.xml, and re-zip. No other changes. I take no credit for this or the skin, just helping out fellow users. Mods, if this is inappropriate, please let me know and I will delete. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1L4EFdrSSEoZvHMlMsbp2uZAWKsfkjt3f?usp=sharing

  13. New experimental version available: plugin.video.emby-next-gen-5.2.06-build 117 (ex23) ISO (to be tested) -> DB reset required backdrops fixed Most of the changes in this version are internally. Cleaning code, optimize performance etc.

  14. Thanks for the logs. I'll review it. btw, I'll drop my findings in the other thread (testing experimental versions...).

  15. Yes, but it is a separate app so you should be able to run both beta and stable on the same device.

  16. Your kodi issue reminds me of an Emby issue I had last october. If it comes back, check if Emby offers mutli version

  17. I was on 5.2.05 beta and I have now updated to the experimental 5.2.06. I will test with this version how things go with tv recordings showing up or not. I will try to explain better what I experience with it. Thanks.

  18. I need to keep watching this issue and see if i can find a pattern. The db vacuum fixed it for all episodes for now. So I have a fresh test situation now.

  19. Intermediate update: the issue that Emby is leaving child processes running on shutdown is fixed for the next beta. The actual issue is still pending investigation.

  20. I'm not sure how you are using the WAN Address, but you may want the WAN DNS FQDN rather than the IP - as the IP is usually dynamic and may change ? Just a thought.

  21. It depends - if you are trying to stream multiple high bitrate 4K files or transcoding for example while copying 100's of GB's worth of data to a single drive - then yes, it is going to struggle - but this is a bottleneck of your I/O system - it has nothing to do with Emby. In this scenerio, you need to split the I/O across multiple drives so they have the ability to work in parallel, rather than having to wait for the drive to finish it's I/O operation - ie sequential.

  23. I can’t be certain. Samsung always said 1 month, but since that version onwards they now enforce it very strictly. That version could stop at any time

  24. Correct, that's what I mentioned earlier. So the note is incorrect. As this is not true.

  25. Correct and since there are 2 different ways these reserved addresses are being used I'd suggest that we take this time to fix and make it the most flexible. In other words treat all 3 spaces as local UNLESS the network field is filled in THEN ONLY use that field. That would all a user to have 10.x as local by default but by configuring only a 192.x space the 10 would become a remote address. This is perfect for those who run VPNs or proxies as it gives them total control in Emby how the IP space should be used and how bitrates and other Emby features get applied.

  26. Thanks for the update. Emby does cache images but reloads them every x days. So if you were storing your images with the media Emby would have had a problem trying to load those images.

  27. I think you missed the part about being 'out the box' .. Joe average is not even going to know what SSL stands for, yet alone have the insight into the following multiple tutorials to set something up for which they have no understanding. If you opt for a secure install - then there needs to be a tick box in emby setup - where you get a domain assigned (myserver.emby.media), associated cert created, installed and updated. Yes that cert is owned and maintained by emby (it has to be, they own the domain) - but if you want SSL access, that is the trade off. The only time you need the emby servers is when your WAN IP changes (so DDNS updates) and when you need to renew the cert (3 months etc). Normal media playback will use the local install, this is no different to a 3rd party SSL cert installed today.

  28. I really think the ultimate solution will be that we will have to create a different presentation for different cuts of films because everything about our current versioning is based on different qualities of the same item. If you try to mix these two things you just run into so many problems like this.

  30. For any HA users using node red, here's a few basic ones I made for controlling lights based on play states. In the living room sets light level after sunset based on play, pause, stop. In the bedroom turns lights off on play after 10pm. 31. I would find it useful to be able to select multiple items (eg, multiple videos) at a time in the Metadata Editor and Edit/Add values to them in bulk simultaneously. For example, to be able to select multiple items and add a Tag (or Person, Genre, etc.) to all of the items at the same time. Thanks for considering my request! PS - If this is something you might like to see implemented, be sure to "Like" this top/first post (as well as any subsequent posts in this thread that highlight particular aspects of what you are interested in) -- "Liking" the top/first post helps the Devs to know how much interest there is in a given Feature Request.
