Kind of, but I think a good example is Live TV. These 2 hubs are locked together. I can't put On Now lower or higher than Live TV, they come as a package. That said, I think it's just more about options. Really the only Hubs available are "Latest". Plex has dozens more (screen shots below). My favorite hubs from Plex are the TV - Recently Played and Photos - Photos from (year, decade, this day/month). Plex Hubs

Now for the embarrassing part - I'm always falling asleep watching something - then have a complete mind blank what i was watching the next day until the next episode is out and i realise im missing something. Would it be possible to add a 'recently watched' section where you can see all items you've recently viewed in order? Probably more applicable to TV I guess,

I would love the ability to increase the size of subtitles on the different platforms, specially android, chrome and roku... One additional thing that would be great would be the ability to change font color, outline, drop shadow, font background... Thank you

Hi, On the Server you can currently see active devices on the dashboard, and consequently which users are watching what on what media. However, there's no way to abort these active devices to either conserve bandwidth, conserve server CPU, or simply to stop a renegade process. One use case that would be particularly helpful is when you're casting from the phone app to ChromeCast. If the phone gets interrupted, you lose control over the stream so that the TV stops showing whatever you were watching, and there's no way to stop it or regain control over it. Instead of having to stop and start the entire server, it would be nice to just click on that particular activity on the dashboard and press KILL (or perhaps a less dramatic word - cancel?) Please read this post first. I was wondering if it would be possible to add something that would allow you to skip the intro to shows automatically while binge watching. When watching Netflix it does this for some shows, and im not sure if thats a feature of Netflix itself or a Chrome extension i use called "Flix Assist" but it would be a nice feature to have within Emby as well. and possibly even create a custom timed skip for specific shows

I would like to be able to mark individual media items or even perhaps entire libraries to be excluded from media scans. If I have retrieved all the metadata and images I want for a particular TV series or Music collection and I know that the files will never change and the metadata should never change, I would like to be able to exclude it from scans to a ) reduce scan time b ) decrease the likelihood of unwanted changes being made c ) reduce network utilization I've noticed that even with series that have not had any new episodes in years (and no changes have been made in my filesystem) there is still information being downloaded from metadata providers. I suppose that is to check to make sure it is current/complete, but it is a waste of my network resources which are not plentiful. Perhaps this could be implemented by adding the option to not rescan media that has been marked as locked.

Short story, I lost all Emby favorites and watched status a month or so ago; please dont ask how, it stills hurt. I do have a Trakt acct, and having nothing to lose, I am wondering how to request Trakt to try to update my emby libraries? Where can I find "Trakt 101 for newbies" ?

I think that what he saying is if there is a way that when adding a new episode for a series, this series shows on the first row of Recent Series. But this isn't the way it actually works in this moment? since i'm using the beta version i don't know if the merging of recent and next up is already on the main branch. I have many multi version movies with extras, and have no issues with Emby detecting and displaying them. Are you getting your movie groupings by putting them in the same directory or are you using the movie grouping plugin?

We will continue to look at providing more data to android auto so that it can display more features for sorting, filtering, etc. Just keep in mind, that's not our user interface.

Yea, except you can't save them. You have to change the filter every time to see a different view.

Yes interesting but not enough. To many complexity to manage multiple folders when you have to create each user profile from scratch just to get all the same type of media in the same row. Not to say that I have to rebuild all my libraries from 0, re-scan, reconfigure missing arts, etc. Plex has it perfectly solved: And you can customize if you want it all together or a line per kind of media.

Yes, but my comment was in connection with more options not the current setup which has the hubs of each type locked together rather than separated.

I agree to that post, and if you read a little bit the Roadmap transparency link I put above, you will understand better how feature requests works (or not) around here. Meaning your original post could have 30 Likes and still not have your option implemented in 5 years. I suggest starting to streamline (at least some) of your library structure asap, you will get instant results (improvements) that way.

Documentary is a genre, whether looking at movies or series. If you have documentary series in your movie library, maybe they should be retagged and moved to tv shows (and again, browse by genre) As for Concerts, I actually do have a separate library for those (actually 2, one eng one Fr). Content type is movie But when I watch my media with Kodi, I see only 1 movie library, that displays all movies type contents: FR & ENG, Concerts and so on, just like your AppleTV example. So the client you're using should offer you option to streamline the overall number of library branches, should you want to.

I'm not asking this to be for "everyone as mandatory" I'm asking this to be an option that can be selected. Of course will be users to prefer the current approach but having both can be even better

OK, that makes more sense, and I can only imagine what you mean by endless home screens. My native language is french, so I have 2 libraries of everything ie: Movies and FR movies, TV shows and FR TV shows, and so on. In my case I want to have english synopsis for english movie but french synopsis for french movies (achieved from Dashboard/library language options. For sharing rights (access or not), I will let other chime in

Hi quickmic, speaking of unresponsive Settings (see my own self quote further below), I just noticed that while the workaround does get us in settings, something is odd within E4K tab (ps I would rather call it connection tab). It does not seem to cause me any issue, but I'm pretty sure it used to display my username, server name and maybe server address too. Yet when I fire up kodi, it connects just fine without asking to login, no error, all good, but I find it odd that connection tab is all blank fields. Please advise

Thanks for taking the time to test and provide feedback. It is greatly appreciated. It should only synchronize the changes after the initial sync. Could you provide a debug log to check to see why this is happening? In respect to going into Kodi's mainline, he is currently working on optimizing some parts of Kodi's core to make MediaImport syncs occur faster. These changes will also benefit all Kodi addons that present items in a list. He is making the necessary changes for videos, audio and games even though MediaImport only support videos right now. He tends to work thoroughly and make improvements whenever he finds areas that can be improved. This means his work may take a little longer, but it makes the overall project a bit stronger. It is very early in V20 cycle so let keep our fingers crossed. As you can see it is quite advanced in development but he likes high quality work which is a good thing, so the polishing continues. With regards to updates, I will post the build for you no problem. It is not really taking up my time because it is actually the computer that is doing the work not me, . When I run builds for myself, I will include the RockPi build for you. The code is quite stable now so new builds are not necessary too often anyway. Cheers, LongMan

Yes, that is the most obvious solution, it's not a requirement or anything, just an inside joke, but it obviously indicates somethings not 100% solid in some parser. I'm by no means a security researcher, but it's gotta be some kinda mild threat-- other than being an (extremely mild, I'll admit) annoyance. Also some non-english origin names have apostrophes, De'Andre O'Connor, for example. If the problem was something like backslash or brackets, or pipes | , I'd not have brought it up at all I was just bringing it to y'all's attention. Due diligence sorta thing. By no means do I expect this to be considered high priority, or fixed (I had already removed the apstrophe, I started using it again to re-test at your and @cayars request)

Not work, I have over twenty clients it only shows Three each time that I have tested from 5.2xxxx, when I selected one of the three, it did not further the syn process, each time that I restart Kodi it will asked for server, when I select the server and the user, not happens therafter, definately an issue that need to be resolved, otherwise there is no way to test. kodi.old.log kodi.log

Agreed, I would prefer this too. As well as more options to show on the home page with ability to move the different hubs around.

@MagicDoubleM @lundblad @moha85 I still can't guarantee a custom icon feature will work out, but in researching things today I came across a tool that might make it feasible for both me to support and users to use. This tool lets anyone easily convert one or more SVGs into a font format Iconic already supports. It also automatically generates the CSS needed to enable the icon previews on the configuration page. So, theoretically, users could search the web for SVGs they like or create their own, generate a font with the tool linked above (or another like it), and put the resulting files somewhere Iconic can find and load. The custom font icons would be resizable and colorable just like the built in icons, and they would be compatible with the existing icon handling code on the backend. Again, their might be some insurmountable obstacle here I'm not seeing yet, but this is the type of solution I was looking for.

I also use Emby with android auto and would like to have a more usable interface. Others apps have a far better interface, for example in Poweramp you can select the music by album, artist, genere, folders, latest added, playlist, and so on. In every screen you have the ability to fast select by the first letter. This system is very usefull. My smartphone is an old Galaxy S7 with android 8 and all works like a charm. Is there the possibility to add a similar user interface in Emby too? This will be fantastic. Thank you for your incredible work.

That is correct. They didn't do anything illegal and the only thing I've seen them do that I object to on "morality" grounds is the removal of attribution comments from our original code so that it looks like they created it instead of us. Overall, it is on us for allowing all of our hard work to be put out there for the taking.

Is it a bit ironic however to basically do a fork because you don't want to make a donation to the authors work, but then accept donations yourself? A lot of people feel that way but that is the nature of the license. It used to bother me more personally then it does today. With each new beta release of Emby it just pulls away from JF a bit more with more refined features and clients as well as enhancements and new features. I think the last major update JF had was back in July and most of that was things Emby had already done right after the fork. A lot of features JF has on paper just don't compare to the same feature in Emby. Case in point is Tone mapping. If they could of, they would have. LOL Why build a framework from the ground up when you can just "borrow it"? "borrow it"?

Kind of, but it's not very precise. See attached of how Plex does it (+ next to category to add, Home image next to category already added). Since there are multiple categories that can be added for each media type, they allow specifying which categories are desired for each media type rather than ALL categories. Right now Emby really only has "latest" and "continue watching" as categories, so it's not that big a deal, but could still use a few more options.
