  1. I do not know why a media player can't do 4k HDR H265 well in Apple TV 4K, it's a basic feature.

  3. Tried to search for this feature request but couldn't find it. It would be very good to be able to sort and filter the content of collections. I have some collections with a lot of movies (1001 movies you have to see before you die, Criterion collection, etc). As of today you can sort and filter the collections themselves but you can't sort and filter the content. So if I want to find an unseen movie from my 1001 collection I will have to scroll through a lot of movies. In the collection view you also separate categories (movies, tv, ...) and it would be great to be able to choose to not separate them also.

  4. While Emby already has recommendations built in based on previously watched items I find they are not all that helpful. They seem to be based on genre only, for example, because you watched a comedy here are other comedies in your library. I do like how the also directed by/appear in recommendations work though. What would be great is if Emby could incorporate Trakt's recommendations as they are much more sophisticated. Trakt's recommendations are not only based off of what you have previously watched but also what your Trakt friends and other Trakt users have watched. It takes user ratings and trending/popular media into account. Ideally Emby would include full Trakt integration allowing users to rate media after watching, view lists and recommendations, and view upcoming media all from within Emby but for now I think recommendations would be a nice addition. Trakt has the potential to give Emby that community feel and allow users to discover new media, find something to watch, and recommend media to other users. http://docs.trakt.apiary.io/#reference/recommendations

  5. This will probably need to happen after books are treated as a single item regardless of tracks, but be able to bookmark various spots in the book and jump back to various timestamps. Might need to account for playback speed. Raising concern here for the checklist.

  6. Currently because the Audiobooks section of Emby is mirrored after Music, there are two headings on the Audiobooks Page for "Album Artists" and "Artists". Please replace these with a heading for "Authors".

Merci

  14. If the container has a separate 1080p 2nd video track, then you need to remux it into a 'single layer' Dolby Vision file using the latest version of MakeMkv. Literally just load the MKV - it will recognise the DV and then click on the output Icon and it will remux it (to include DV) and subsequently remove the 2nd Video file.

  15. I created a video playlist with 1,552 episodes. I want to be able to shuffle through all of the shows on the playlist, but on my fire tv it only shuffles the first 1,000 episodes on the list. Can I do anything to make it so I can shuffle through all of my shows?

  16. It will use your local trailers as well as content from our trailers plugin, so that will work just fine.

  18. Unfortunately like I said above, as much as I love Emby... the Apple TV player isn't nearly as important as some of the other players to the Emby development team at this point. At least that's how it seems. I love Emby and run it as my main media server, I just have to use Infuse as my media player on the TV's that use Apple TV. Live TV is another issue but for media playback that's my set up. Not ideal, but it does work.

  19. Although I would like to have high availability, I am not ready to pay this price for the few users I have. Although I understand that a high availability solution is expensive to develop. I think that opensource solutions could do the job very well (Patroni which is based on postgres, keepalived, haproxy, etc...). But I think there are some limitations that I don't know.

  23. I know Firefox and chrome have dark mode but Safari just lags way behind. A couple paid options exist. Best one I found is to use a css file. After experimenting with many versions over past few months this is the css file I use in Safari for dark mode. If it blocks like a PDF from displaying temporarily disable it by toggling it on/off with CMD + , (comma) and in Advanced options just choose None. * { color: #BCC6CC !important; background-color: #0C090A !important; background: #0C090A; } a:link { color: #7A5DC7 !important; } a:visited { color: #CA226B !important; } a:hover { color: #C48793 !important; } img { filter: grayscale(40%); } Save this as a plaintext file and name it like SafariDarkMode.css

  26. emby apps wont follow redirects. FireTV, androidTV the same way. you have to include https and the port in the apps. I believe the reason is that the app "login" page is not pulled from the server, yet built into the emby app. So what happens is the app tries to "Post" the form details to the server, and according to RFC2616 (i think... might google that to make sure) the HTTP spec says not to follow any redirect unless it comes to the server as a GET or HEAD which the form submittal would not be.. and therefore the android http client will crap out. Yea I just googled it is RFC2616 and here is what it says, same for 301's i believe i guess i should have checked. lol: 10.3.3 302 Found ... If the 302 status code is received in response to a request other than GET or HEAD, the user agent MUST NOT automatically redirect the request unless it can be confirmed by the user, since this might change the conditions under which the request was issued.

  27. @MRobi I had figured it out. Yeah it has turned out that I needed to update freenas. I was running freenas 11.2 and updating it to 11.3 made everything just work again. Thanks again for everything

  28. This brain talk with sound reminded me of echo free chambers. Most people can’t last more than 45 minutes isolated in an anechoic chamber without losing their mind. When it’s quiet, Your ears start adapting. With no sound coming from your surroundings, your whole focus turns to your own body. The effect of this is that you start hearing the sounds that you are making yourself. So you start hearing your heartbeat, blood pumping through your head, noises made by your digestive system and the creaking of joints. Link to article

  29. Yes just let Emby premiere connect once and should be good for 3 weeks or more. I plan on doing the same in the future. Also if you are without any internet whatsoever there is only one chat client that works for calling audio or video. Perhaps you wanna chat with a few friends within the router’s WiFi distance in neighboring rooms. That is kinda buggy but open source jami. It requires no server. I guess everyone would need to install the client via internet somehow. So perhaps they could burn a few megabytes on their 4G plan to initially get the app.

  30. Just to let everyone know, I used the STRM function as set forth above to re-create the film/extra functionality and it worked perfectly. Many thanks for all the help!

  31. Thanks everyone for the explanations. They mostly make good sense. Remember that this is about a science fiction show and, mostly, those kind of shows get the science wrong. Like having sound in space or craft "banking" in space or running out of fuel and coming to a stop. In fiction the science does not have to make sense and the viewer/reader needs to suspend their disbelief for a time to enjoy the story. I was just asking about the audio effect that make front to back or back to front movement seem to be happening in the sound from just stereo speakers. I can say the effect seems quite real while I know that it is just fooling my brain I find that some sounds on some TV shows/movies are very good at that fooling. Maybe my brain is simply quite gullible. Thanks for all the insights, I never expected so many answers.

  34. I just wanted to provide some confirmation that editing the library.db and various options.xml worked fine for me today as of version 4.5.2.0 (I'm a little behind). Consolidating my paths was required to use hardlinking as I prepare to move to docker. It also simplifies my fstab a bit A few words of caution that should be best practice. Backup your .db and /xml files first. Make sure emby is down. You will probably have to chown the . and library.db to edit. Put it back to your emby user and group when you are done editing. Don't forget to edit your paths in any download apps, etc. When you first start emby back up and rescan your library, all of the images might appear to be gone and no content in each library. Give it some time. My libraries took almost two hours to complete scanning, and things were a bit wonky until the scans completed.

  35. I cannot think of any reason to have an all songs view for audiobooks. EDIT: I meant in the main library screen. I like @ebr 's Tracks idea because the files are so haphazard out there.
