  1. I've been working, on and off, during the pandemic on this alexa custom skill. I wanted to share because there is so much it can do now. I'm pretty sure it encapsulates almost everything Emby has to offer. I think it hits all the endpoints in the API. LOL! And with the New Echo 10's being released (I have one coming in a couple weeks), the things you'll be able to do with Alexa is about to get even crazier! I'm going to make the Echo 10 follow you around while you're watching a movie streamed by Emby. .. just because it will be possible to do (which is just nutz-o!) Thanks for checking it out!

  2. The Mult-Select in the Server web app is super-useful (I'm so grateful to those that introduced me to it!). But given that the Server web app has some excellent filtering functions (eg, in my case I make use of filtering by Tags) it would be very handy to have a "Select All" functionality, so that I can filter down to the results I'm looking for and then easily add them to a Collection (or, when eventually we have Bulk Editing abilities, open a Bulk Edit view on all the Selected items). Thanks! PS - If this is something you might like to see implemented, be sure to "Like" this top/first post (as well as any subsequent posts in this thread that highlight particular aspects of what you are interested in) -- "Liking" the top/first post helps the Devs to know how much interest there is in a given Feature Request.

  3. Not going to get any "Likes" for this but naming conventions exist for a boatloads of good reasons, and as the word convention implies, they are quite universal (ie they works as well for Emby,. Plex Kodi etc. Choosing to ignore those conventions is one's privilege, but your mileage may will vary. There are many possible variations, but calling a pint of motor oil "2% milk" will spell trouble.. There are a few free software that will batch-fix those file names for you in a couple of clicks. Folder structures is also quite important. 4. Hi there. Emby Connect and Premiere are two unrelated topics: Connect is just a way of connecting to your server and it is tied to User(s): https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001160340 Premiere is a set of features for your server, in addition to basic ones, and is tied to your server: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001162223-emby-premiere Premiere matrix will show you what does subscription include for server and various client apps: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001173099-emby-premiere-feature-matrix So, neither of them depends on the other - you can have both Connect and Premiere, you can have only one of them or you can have none - as their application is on different areas. As per your second query, to run a server behind VPN, you need to setup a static port forwarding with your VPN provider (and not all of them provide that possibility, have no idea for ExpressVPN), read through here, maybe someone mentioned it: And/or contact your provider directly. Cheers

  5. I believe the future is now or at least it should be. Multi-select using the shift+click is a very standard Windows function and has been at least since Windows 95 and I seem to remember it in Windows 3.0/3.1.

  6. Any ETA on "delete after watched"? It seems to be the only core feature I am missing.

  7. I would really appreciate to have a Director filter in the movie filters. Thanks.

  8. I'm new to Emby, from Plex. In the middle of my trial, using a fire stick. So far I'm a fan and plan to upgrade my account. On the server, files within collections scroll vertical on the fire they scroll horizontal. For smaller collections that's fine. I have a [comic book movie] collection that has 100+ files in it, scrolling right to left is a bit much. Any chance scroll can be vertical once there's a certain number of files within the collection? Also, release year shows on the server within a collection, but doesn't show on the fire app. I'm able to turn year on and off in the movie media folder, but not in the collections. In the movie media folder a decade filter would be pretty valuable. I saw a request for it already, never hurts to ask again . Lastly, it would be nice to view movies and collections in the movie media folder when sorted by title. Right now now it looks like it's an or option.

  9. OT: Yep some custom css, html and js edits and you get it. (homesections.js, item.html)

  10. @CharleyVarrick I agree. Definitely prefer vertical rather than horizontal. @ebr Understand all the apps do it, and it's an irritation to me that I just live with. Designs are changing all the time, so who knows what the standard will be in the future.

  11. Embyweb is a website, and it is what I was referring to. Call it my point of reference. I do not use anything else, apart from Kodi, which, does not impose horizontal scrolling

  12. If you browse around the css thread you'll find some nice stuff. Personally I like getting riding of posters to let the backdrops show though, among other things. I'd also suggest starting a separate thread about any playback problems you're having, preferably including any emby logs, info about the files that are not playing properly, etc.

  15. Hi there, can you please describe the problem in more detail? thanks.

  16. One thing I don't like about this is that it would take up additional space and change the look. HOWEVER, I could see removing the YEAR and using that for rating or date info. That way no additional space would be needed and wouldn't mess up the views.

  17. Ah, so, it should be quicker second time around? I noticed that in the movies section at least, it shows the video type and audio type after I have played it once

  18. Yes that was going to be my comment that the sort already shows. I don't get what you're showing in that picture? EDIT: Oh never mind, I get it now, you're showing the actual IMDB rating.

  21. I've had over 20 recordings in Emby at the same time and it's not uncommon to have 8 to 10 recordings in progress at the same time for me. IO is the basic problem but with fast SSD it can be done. I've got dedicated SSDs for the OS, for transcoding and for DVR so this helps.

  22. The app supports playback of all server supported audio formats.

  23. Then you can install a couple portable versions of Emby. Setup one for Movies and one for TV Shows and let them both work at the same time. You could setup one portable version of Emby for each Library you have and let them all run assuming this doesn't cause you an IO issue. So there is a way to pretty easily speed up BIF generation if you really need to do that.

  24. Respectfully, I see Emby as both a (limited) media manager and media player, kind of middle-of-the-road approach. Often people who requests more managing feature often hear a response " but it wont be as pretty that way". Its a though balancing act indeed. I often wish it would offer a LOT more on the managing side, either by itself or tru plugins. On the mere player side, I also wish for many nice features, yup, all those we'd like to have in the future. Users are not all comfortable coding to tailor fit it to our needs. I'm a sucker for swiss army knife apps. Not sure if you're familiar with MediaMonkey, its what I use exclusively for music. It does have an impressive (read seemingly endless) toolset to manage music, and is a highly competent player. IMO, its main, if not only drawback, is lack of 10 foot interface.

  25. Amazing stuff ! I must revisit this as my home is full of Echo's and Emby of course - pairing the two would be perfect. I tried last year but fell at the first hurdle as I couldn't get the base skill talking to emby - I think it's my SSL cert type (Lets Encrypt) but didn't delve too deeply at the time. Going to give it another go ..

  26. This seems like a bug. I'll fix it in the next version.

  27. mmm imagine a moment if sort by title would NOT show the title, yes, they're sorted, but you have no clues where you stand. That's exactly how all sort by works, except for by title. I suppose the main problem is screen real estate as it would likely require an extra text row, albeit very small. I see what you mean with the example given, solution would be sort by with option to display sort criteria (or not). I also agree with you that how my media is displayed on my side is ALL about personal preference, but preferably mine. I'm reminded of the old joke: "...and now some sport results: 7-6, 24-10, 2-1..."

  31. This looks like you're on Linux - and I think I might have some good new for you: The latest Emby installations on Linux are including stub scripts which allow you to execute the ffmpeg delivered with Emby from an external context (e.g. shell). Just take a look at the /opt/emby-server/bin directory. There you can see these scripts named like 'ffmpeg-emby'. Calling these instead of the binary will allow you to run ffmpeg without having to deal with any environment setup. Hope this helps. even though I don't see much benefit this way (other than having some fun trying to get it going) Good Luck!

  32. that would be awesome...i don't know if many people delete items from Kodi/Emby using this procedure, but it works well for me...i also like the fact the item's folder gets sent to the Recycle Bin, so a deleted item can be restored if need be...thanks for your explanation and help

  33. From a update standpoint there is nothing new and I can replicate on every release via localhost leaving the browser open. This issue is my beta system will not restart, but other systems will.
    1 point
  34. Try and do a restore (don't really do it just start the process). You will see lots of things to be able to selectively restore.

  35. As far as I recall, current implementation just sends the delete command to emby server. Kodi is not aware of the removal till server pushes a notification back to Kodi. Not sure how log it takes, and also depends on Emby server performance etc. Maybe I can improve it like: Send delete command to Emby server and immediately remove if from Kodi DB.

  36. Here is the css code to remove this information from the web client, but remember css does not work on Connect/online web client. Place this code in Custom CSS box on Dashboard-Settings. div.audioVideoMediaInfo {display: none;}

  37. Not added yet in 5.1.17. If there is need for that, I can add that option. Unfortunately, such a feature requires playlist manipulations in Kodi and that's exactly what I'm avoiding at the moment. May I ask, why not using addon mode in the first place?

  38. @Luke, just to clarify, what he's asking for is not a guide feature. He's referring to while playing a current video, especially recorded TV content... instead of using the skip forward/skip backward or fastforward/fastrewind buttons on a remote, being able to actually key in a number to represent an amount of time to skip forward or backward. WMC had this feature for sure. I'm sure some other DVRs and software players have/had this feature as well. This worked in addition to the skip forward and skip back backward functions that had discrete time steps for both. WMC also was able while playing a video of any type (movies, family video or recorded TV file) to allow punching in a 2-digit number and pressing the skip fw/bk key and the video file would advance or go back that number of 2-digit minutes within the file. I do believe that is the request. Just jumping in to help clarify.

  39. First we check x-forwarded-for, then if we don't get anything from there we move on to x-real-ip. both can handle multiple ip's being specified, comma delimited, in which case, the last one is used.

  42. As the app is available in the US store, the testing by Samsung doesn't seem to be the big problem. That's only one more reason, to get the app to worldwide stores. Luke mentioned in this thread, that distribution in the home country store is free, while Samsung wants money for worldwide distribution. For me, it would be worth a few bucks to pay for the app, just to get rid of that nag screen and the hassle every month, but it seems, this is no option for the developers, as usual, Europe seems not to be an important market for americans. This thread is already over 4 yeras and there doesn't seem to be any solution in the future. Maybe I will try Plex, the app is available (for free) on Samsung TV and other devices and it seems not to be that different from Emby (yes, I'm really THAT annoyed by the Samsung app). Ciao, Alfred

  43. So, it's 2021, when will we get Emby in Europe store? I'm really annoyed that I have to uninstall, reinstall and make all settings every month because af that f*cked up, stupid update message in the USB installation. Really, WHAT is the problem?

  44. Apologies for my complete lack of activity, my Docker installation got corrupted (along with all my volumes) and I lost mostly everything besides my Emby which is the only service that doesn't reside on docker due to hardware transcoding limitations (I'm on Windows), and I didn't have the time nor motivation to fix everything up. Hopefully after Christmas I'll upgrade my hardware, get all of my Emby mods and services working again, and finally take a look at the issues people are having and help to resolve them. I haven't added any media besides music which has been working fine, so maybe something changed in the new betas that broke some stuff. I might end up rewriting this plugin entirely since the code is quite a mess.

  45. I was extremely surprised to find that there is a statically coded limit set on search results in the web client especially when I found it's set so low as 30. For anyone with large libraries this makes the search almost useless. I have over 100 albums with the phrase "Now that's what I call music" in them. Trying to search those to give a limited subset of my music collection in order to check through them returned 30 of them and an apparently random 30 at that. I've manually upped the limit on my server to 130 in the javascript for now, but that's not exactly an ideal scenario and will get reset every time I upgrade. Please guys, let's have full paginated search results for any search term entered as with just about any other search system in the world. Please Pretty please with bells on?

  47. I use a keyboard to control my HTPC and find it difficult to use "Ctrl+Shift+F" and "Ctrl+Shift+B" to skip forward and backward during playback. I'd much rather set this to be the Arrow keys, and change the 5-min skip which is currently reserved for the Arrow keys to Page Up/Down. Please consider this feature enhancement Thank you.

  48. On the subject of potential additional functionality for the excellent Multi-Select feature, in addition to funwithmedia's suggestion for a Select All function, I would like to throw my vote in for a Shift-Click or Drag-Click type function for selecting multiple items, in the style of Windows Explorer. At the moment, the usability of Multi-Select is somewhat limited (at least, for me) by the fact that each item still has to have its check-box individually checked - unless my search skills have utterly failed me, and there is already a way to do this, in which case I apologize for wasting everyone's time. My ideal implementation would be something along the lines of this: The shift-key doesn't necessarily have to be involved, obviously, I just chose that combination based on its use to achieve the same effect in Windows. But the basic functionality of being able to quickly select a continuous series of items would be very useful (As would the Select-All function suggested by funwithmedia). Thanks for taking the time to read my post, as well as for your consideration.

  49. Is there or can't we have a config xml file that we can edit to do this maybe? I still find it difficult to skip forward with the existing key combinations.
