So a question for @softworkz most likely. I've been playing around with ffmpeg with the TM filters trying to get Tone Mapped chapter thumbnails created in the .bif's. I can't seem to use the TM filter in the image extractor in ffmpeg - ffmpeg is reporting that this function cannot use the filter. I have got it 'working' if I simply do a TM conversion to a thumbnail resolution video (to rapidly increase it's conversion speed) and then re-run the thumbnail extract on that to produce the 'SDR/tone mapped' images. Then delete the TM video file. I was hoping to do it all in a single ffmpeg command. It's obviously not urgent - but the 'washed out' thumbnail images on an SDR display are nagging me .. Any thoughts ?2 points

SOLVED! (at least for me) I had the exactly same problem (media mounted on Samba, TV shows scanning ok, Movies not scanning at all). And I found the reason! The problem was that one of the movie subdirectories had a colon (":") in its name! This caused the rescan of the whole "Movies" directory to immediately end and not find any media. When I renamed the offending directory (removed the ":"), everything works correctly.2 points

Personally, I don't mind it, quite the contrary: I'm more annoyed having to go throuh Plugins for some plugin setup. But that's just me.2 points

I mentioned it in another thread, but thought I'd put it here since this looks like a new section--just for posterity. Would like to have a bulk meta data editor function. For example, if I have 750 videos whose producing studio is the same, I want to select those videos and apply the name of the studio to those videos. Similarly, if there is a custom tag I want to apply to a subset of those movies, I want to be able to select them in bulk and apply the tag to those videos (instead of selecting them one by one).1 point

I'd really like to have 2 Factor Authentication added to the login screen. It's just this (optional) extra layer of security to help secure the server (which, especially if people use camera uploads) contains pretty private data. There are for every type of programming language quite a few libraries available, so implementation on a server shouldn't be too hard to realise1 point

When setting up a new user I think it would be great if I could copy an existing user. Even better if you could copy certain aspects of a user like views , library access , parental settings1 point

ability to be able to add a collection into another collection. ie: Spiderman Collection into a SuperHero Collection. like i could with mediabrowser with shortcuts. TIA1 point

Hi, Thank you for the great product. It is a pleasure to use it. I have seen some posts but they are years ago regarding my request. Is there a plan to have notification (when adding movies, shows, live tv etc.) from the emby app ? This means to get a push message on my android phone, iphone, windows app, etc. With 3rd party software its not so cool. Thank you.1 point

Now for the embarrassing part - I'm always falling asleep watching something - then have a complete mind blank what i was watching the next day until the next episode is out and i realise im missing something. Would it be possible to add a 'recently watched' section where you can see all items you've recently viewed in order? Probably more applicable to TV I guess,1 point

It would be great if i could set the server to delete certain shows after a user has watched it. I happen to watch "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report", everyday, and with "News"ish type shows, there is no need to keep the episodes around. So i would like to set MB to auto delete those 2 shows, 3 days after one user has watched it.1 point

One thing that I would like to see implemented is the abilty to display lyrics in all of the apps. For those of us who have libraries with lyrics embedded in the actual files, it would be trivial. Simply scrape the lyrics from the lyrics tag and display them. As far as scraping from online lyrics databases, I don't see that working very well as just about every app that I have seen use it either doesn't get the correct lyrics or they are truncated with an add for the website.1 point

Is it possible to have a banner on the front page, and/or popup to announce maintence going on with the MediaBrowser service. It would be nice to be able to announce a maintenance to family and my kids who are at their moms. Anyone else think this would be neat? thanks!1 point

Feature Request. A present I have several user accounts setup for family members. When we sit down together to watch a movie we currently log into one account (Mostly mine), so obviously only this account gets the watched status. What happens then is everyone uses my account because there's isn't up-to date and it's "just easier". This results in my account telling me I've watched something when I haven't... I would like the ability to log into my account and select/deselect which other users are present so that when a movie/TV episode is watched together, their watched statuses are updated accordingly? The next time you log in again all other users would have been deselected. It could be implemented so each user account can do this, or only select user accounts can. Even a special "Family" user account, or multiple viewers button as long as everyone's watched status is correct. Even just ticking the users present on the login screen before login into an account.1 point

Apologies we weren't more direct. The change in server behavior is causing the Roku to transcode. The same behavior as before will occur and the container is all that is not supported. The TS container is repackaged into HLS with an m3u8 manifest containing TS slices. Since the m3u8 manifest controls transport you can keep seek with just a container swap. The MPEG2 stream is copied if the Roku detects support for that codec and the audio is copied if the Roku detects that codec is supported by the HDMI chain connected to that Roku. Once the server behavior changes for this the Roku app will not need an update. It will just start to work as it did before.1 point

Actually, there was a change in behavior in the server that is causing a transcode here. We can achieve the seeking with a remux without needing a full transcode.1 point

Yeah, I just don't have enough experience with all this to have any hard expectations about what should, could, or would work, but it's great having Emby back on Alexa! I am able to use Alexa with Plex the same way, but Plex' "play some music" pulls from only the music library you specify, not all of them as Emby can be set. Also, Emby seems to select more truly randomly when you ask Alexa to "play music". So, good to have them both for me. Thanks for the help!1 point

anyone who plays anything for over a minute would either be a premiere user or an unlocked app user according to the matrix (which is a separate pain to unlock any of the mobile apps (to which the solution given to me here was to remove my premiere key so the end user would have the option to unlock the app, rather than making an unlock button easily accessible like the AndroidTV/FireOS apps, after the user has connected to a premiere server)). While you have 6 users in the past week, I pay for a 45 device license, so I have quite a few more than you. Going in and renaming quite a few devices would take quite a bit of time. The software obviously keeps track of the exact devices that count toward the license cap otherwise it wouldn't be able to tell us when we're within our limit or past it. Why not have the software indicate those devices for us vs someone who has paid for an app unlock? One of the purposes of software is so we don't have to do things like count devices manually, especially when that's the measure you're using to charge people to use the software. Why make it harder for us to keep track. And your response will probably be "well 90% of our users only have the 25 device limit" and don't have issues with the device limit. Well, you sell a 45 device limit license and for those of us that have it, it would be nice to have the software keep track of the devices counting toward our cap.1 point

I know that you've been all hands on deck for HDR transcoding but this issue where CC's on LiveTV were working for a long time and have been broken since NOVEMBER needs some love. Any idea when it will be addressed? I've been patiently waiting for a long time and would really appreciate a fix. I use LiveTV every single day.1 point

Just to get an idea (I was gonna say get a picture) of what having this option now enabled does, I just ran a backup of my tv show pool. In a mere 2 hrs, it already have 800 new thumb.jpg and counting (the A-Z scan is just starting in the A's...1 point

Do you have "Download images in advance" enabled in your Advanced Library setup?1 point

Yeah, it is the image processing that will be expensive. Your use of icons helps with that.1 point

I'm the same way. Spoiled by Netflix . CBS sure hyped the heck out of this series during the NFL playoffs.1 point

Yes, that's correct at this time. The situation is different between Windows and Linux, though: Windows We don't even have hardware scaling or deinterlacing for AMD, because there are still a number of things missing in ffmpeg to get this working. ("this" means: transcoding using a full hardware pipeline) . Linux We support AMD acceleration via AMD's VAAPI drivers; this allows full hardware pipeline processing for normal operations, but they don't have native tone mapping like Intel (for newer CPU models) But we will probably be able to provide hw tone mapping for AMD via OpenCL in the next or another subsequent update.1 point

You're one smart cookie, unlike me. EDIT: Replace all apparently does nothing. Search missing finds 1 or 2 of 10 missing thumbs. At this point, it looks like I'm stuck with doing it the hard, tedious way; not per library, not even per show, but per episode. This will not work with 55k episodes. Ah well1 point
-
That's easy: find two TV Shows with missing thumbs, choose one on first one, choose the other on second one, check/compare. If any produces result - apply on Library level.1 point

Yeah, due do my specific circumstances, I'm forced to download all trailers locally, TMM does just fine in that respect. One downside for TV Shows, tho, as they can be named tvshow-trailer only, they have to be moved to a subfolder, batch-script works well enough there, I suppose FileBot would do as well. Edit: Actually, they HAVE to be moved, standard title-trailer naming scheme does not apply on TV Shows, Trailers subfolder is a must. TMM+script have been doin' that for years, completely forgot about it. @cayars Maybe wiki update to emphasize?1 point
-
I played around a bit with creating STRM files of trailers and extras but found things that work one month are broken a month later as the host your pointing to moves files, replaces or removes items. The conclusion I came to is that if you really like trailers and extras you really want to allocate storage for them and download them. Programs like Tiny Media Manager can already do this type of thing.1 point

Hi — There’s currently no way to configure what’s shown on the Top Shelf. Certainly something we could consider for the future. Thanks for the suggestion!1 point

Sorry, I'm not following. Emby can consume m3u's. Stop exporting. Just let Emby and Asset use the same m3u's. There is no need to export or sync if you just use m3u's. If you're creating NEW playlists in Emby, then the playlists won't be m3u's, I get that, but you can create a shell of an m3u for any new playlists, Emby and Asset will then pick it up, make your edits to the the new m3u in Emby and as long as Asset is pointing at the same m3u it'll refresh with the changes you made to the m3u. I would do the same exact thing with Serviio and Emby. Both just pointed at the exact same directory for m3u's and I made my edits in Emby. If I ever wanted a new playlist, I'd just copy and paste an m3u file to the playlist directory and as soon as Emby picked it up, I'd started editing.1 point

Often times when I see "Reason for transcodng: Media bitrate exceeds limit." in the info I wonder, what kind of internet connection do they have? I know this can cover multiple scenarios like bandwidth limit set for user, server, client side quality setting, as well as AUTO bandwidth detection... Can you PLEASE add to the dashboard the returned client bandwidth capabilities? The value you are getting from the client that tells emby its bandwidth abilities. While you are at it tighten up the spaces between lines on the transcode items, and align the results to the right instead of center.. MAYBE SOMETHING LIKE THIS :1 point

I reckon it just got few more upvotes by you pulling it on top of the FR list.1 point

For a long time, up until decades ago, it's been quite normal that humans with certain disabilities were publicly exposed and presented - on fairs or bustles allowing to watch these in exchange for just little money. Something like "woman without legs", small-grown men, a guy that doesn't feel pain.. etc. - a bit like a zoo with humans. This had eventually been superseded and replaced by afternoon TV talk shows with the focus shifting a bit from physical to mental shortcomings. The mechanism remained unchanged, though: humans are often fascinated by abnormal or cripple individuals, no matter whether physical or emotional. Eventually, after those talk shows, came the internet - again providing plenty of ways for spectating even more human weirdness. Again - same mechanisms in place. And so - here we are now, with our zoo having a new attraction1 point

That is a fantastic series - one of my favs of the past few years. I'm biased as I lived through that period but it is also just really well-done all the way to the end. Enjoy.1 point

Hey, Is there any way to show all the episodes of a show after selecting the show? Right now it's like this: select the show -> select the season -> select the episode. This is great for adults that know exactly in what season is a specific episode, but it's a nightmare for kids. Basically they are selecting the episode based on its thumbnail, so they are always nagging me "where's that episode, it's not here!". Hosting Emby on unRAID and watching on different devices (LG, iDevices, etc). Thanks!1 point
