I mentioned it in another thread, but thought I'd put it here since this looks like a new section--just for posterity. Would like to have a bulk meta data editor function. For example, if I have 750 videos whose producing studio is the same, I want to select those videos and apply the name of the studio to those videos. Similarly, if there is a custom tag I want to apply to a subset of those movies, I want to be able to select them in bulk and apply the tag to those videos (instead of selecting them one by one).2 points

I started using Emby a week ago, I resolved all the big issues I had reading/using this forum; great community! But it looks like this hurdle is the biggest one yet for me. I'm coming from Plex, and selecting multiple medias to tag them (i.e. Change/Add/Remove genre(s) or a rating or lock metadata, etc...) it's really important.2 points

On a movie or episode's item details screen, if it's in one or more collections there's an "Included In" section which lists the collection(s) that item is, well, included in. It would be nice to have "Remove from Collection" as an option on the three-dot menu of these collections, to enable quickly removing an item from multiple collections, or quickly removing an item from a collection if the error is spotted on the item details screen.1 point

When setting up a new user I think it would be great if I could copy an existing user. Even better if you could copy certain aspects of a user like views , library access , parental settings1 point

I am switching over from a Win7 box running MBC to Chromecast dongles. With the Win7 box I had a HDMI to Cat6 setup that allowed me to stream to up to 4 displays/TVs simultaneously. It was great while it lasted, but involved stapling cables to the ceiling to run it from room to room - plus it has borked Can there be an option to multi-cast to several receivers at once? i.e. simultaneously play to Chromecast dongles in my office and living room and kitchen simultaneously so i can walk from room to room without stopping and restarting the movie or show all the time? I realize that bandwidth could POTENTIALLY be an issue, but i have a fill gigabit network and a multi-port NAS so that really is the least of my worries... Thank you!1 point

... as I was tired of manually grouping all my movie versions into groups after each recreation of the db, I created a plugin to help with that. The use case is having movies, that belong together spread around and not being able to easily match the emby naming conventions, but still having the desire to present them as one item with multiple versions. The plugin works similar to the auto boxsets, but does the "movie versions grouping" - it will group all movies based on their TMDB id into one item, regardless of where they're placed and how they're named. I made that for myself - however, if anybody is interested, attached is a plugin that solves this issue. Attached version is for current 3.6.0.49 beta Server, do NOT use it with stable release! Plugin is alpha state, you should only use it, if you are willing to backup your db (there is no way to revert the changes otherwise!) and manually put the dll in the server plugin directory. Do not use it in your production environment before having tested in a test environment that you're fine with what it does - seriously! ;-). Note: There is a known bug in the web GUI presentation which is described here, which needs to be fixed on emby side. Edit: the mentioned display bug in BoxSets is fixed in Emby now, thanks Luke. AutoCollections-for3-6-0-49-betaServer.zip AutoCollections-for3-6-0-75-betaServer.zip AutoCollections-for-4.1.0.15-betaServer.zip AutoCollections-for-4.2.0.17-betaServer.zip (4.6.0.10 and before) 4.6.4.0 and above (does not require beta server as version number has been surpassed) AutoCollections-for-4.6.0.22-betaServer.zip Note: Original version will cause issue with other new plugins like Top Picks. Updates by community members: v.1.0.0.4 New update thanks to @Cheesegeezer Looks like we've managed to update the plugin, to be current Emby Server 4.7.7 (minimum). Some Changes to be aware of Automatic Library scan and updates are disabled, too many things are triggering library scans at the moment and entering into an endless loop which will crash the server. Moved to a Scheduled task now. Fully Locked item Metadata can be ignored in the Plugin Settings for grouping. (Partial field may have worked before but you need to Lock the item itself now) ".strm" files are ignored from any processing New plugin Graphics with a big nod to MikePlanet This is always Mikes plugin and the work he has done is fantastic. - We only did essential maintenance to keep this alive for you peeps. AutoCollections_1.0.0.4.zip v1.0.0.5 Removed Top Pick Items from the available item list re introduced the auto scanning... this will take place 1 min after an item event is detected re introduced auto run after a library scan tested against top pick plugin and there is no endless looping... but please test fixed the locked items bug. Good luck and let me know how the testing goes. AutoCollections.v1.0.0.5.zip v.1.0.0.9 New update thanks to @Hoptional Added option whether to Merge items across different libraries Compatible with nested folder structures, the "Top Picks", and the "New Releases" plugin Improved logging AutoCollections_1.0.0.9-libraryoption.dll1 point

A checkbox in the server settings somewhere to hide the domain and IP address in log files so they can be uploaded for troubleshooting without needing to be edited.1 point

Please read this post first. I was wondering if it would be possible to add something that would allow you to skip the intro to shows automatically while binge watching. When watching Netflix it does this for some shows, and im not sure if thats a feature of Netflix itself or a Chrome extension i use called "Flix Assist" but it would be a nice feature to have within Emby as well. and possibly even create a custom timed skip for specific shows1 point

Not sure if this has been requested before, but i could not find anything in the forum. I think it would be nice to have a scrubbing (fast forward multiplier) feature in emby. Specifically in the Apps where all we have is a remote control. Or at least have the >| buttons on screen work. only the >> works and at a max of 30 seconds per skip. takes forever to get to say the middle of a movie. Background: We were watching a movie last night, toddler threw a tantrum so we stopped his movie. when he was calm he went to resume it, but, instead of hitting "OK" to resume he hit the "Play/Pause" button on the remote. It restarted the movie. the only way for us to get back to the 60% complete mark is hit the >> button over and over and over only going in 30 second increments. We use our MU8000 Samsung TV app 99% of the time.1 point

Wouldn't that be covered in the transcode in h265 request?1 point

Versioning works fine - but typically anime is presented with two audio tracks and soft subs all in one file (saves space!). You can set rules in Emby for which is default (choice by language, or the default set in the file), or choose before (or during) playing. Paul1 point

I think there are 2 like this for plugins. One is Auto Organize which was getting an update at the time I was going to work on it. Same with another. If you happen to come across anything like that send me a PM or tag me in the forum and I'll try and fix them up. I haven't used Auto Organize in a while and need to set it up and use it a bit before documenting it but I stuck it on my list and just installed the plugin.1 point

Roku will tell the server to record a show through the Emby Client App on the Roku. The recordings are saved on the server for retrieval and playback.1 point

Not in this specifically as this is TONE MAPPING which is specifically taking something with HDR color spacing and converting it to SDR color space at X resolution and Y bitrate. What you want to do if I understand correctly is transcode HDR material keeping the HDR and NOT tone map correct? Would this be to take something like 40Mb file and reduce it to 8 or 10Mb for remote streaming?1 point

This is taking way too long.....Channels DVR was behind emby implementing m3u support. Now Channels DVR has m3u, tveverywhere, locast, playon cloud support in additon to HDHomeRun. We're still wainting on Emby....Sorry I'm moving on unfortunately.1 point

This is what I've been looking for since day one. I'd love for it to "import" the metadata from Emby.1 point

You have to pay either for the Android client or for Premium on the server which gives you the client free, and much more. If you don't want to pay anything, you can use the browser on your phone to connect to your Emby server. Paul1 point

If by "do that" you mean directly integrate with that provider, then that is correct. We do not plan any integration with that API. However, if you can convert to an m3u then that should work fine.1 point

Not really. If there is no image (or it fails to load) the app will choose a thumb layout in order to fit more of the title of the item into the image (see: Tennis: ATP Cup). This is all fine. The only issue I'm trying to figure out is why that thumb is not the same height as the poster next to it. I don't see how that is happening...1 point

I don't think so. @denz and I use the same Guide Source - IceTV and my Images are all the same size. It's just the image placeholders that appear to be incorrectly orientated.1 point

rbjtech, Thanks for the info but I think you are referring to movies vice TV recordings. I am really having issues with TV recordings.1 point

There's 35 likes as of today, but I'm pretty sure there are a handful of +1's that are not included in that tabulation. I've read that some users are doing NFO/XML editing or relying on third party applications. This says to me it's a feature that people want.1 point

Known issue with Chromecast, throttle doesn't "activate" and transcodes the whole thing without pausing.1 point
-
I would tackle this issue another way - the best way to reduce or even eliminated transcoding, is to ensure your source files are compatible with your end clients. For 1080p Content - H264 High @ 10Mbit, with AAC Stereo in an MP4 or MKV container with no embedded subtitles is probably about as 'compatible' as you can get. Subtitles should be external .srt files. If you have/want the ability to play multi-channel sound sound, then replace AAC with AC3 - but ideally, have both with the default being the AAC. Using the emby 'Convert' function will allow you to do this - and from then onwards, it should never transcode again ... (assuming you have 10Mbit/sec bandwidth - which in todays networks/broadband, should not be that much of an ask).1 point

Yes it will. BTW, any channels you feed Emby via CDVR can be hidden. You can do this inside CDVR. Then just refresh the tuner in Emby (open and save it), followed by a guide refresh.1 point

Yeah, that's another option, but I'm using trays and a back-plane, so I had to tape the pin.1 point

Ciao, Alfred1 point

Unfortunately I don't plan on upgrading for a few years! That sounds good, but I was hoping to keep using the LG app primarily for the screensaver functionality. We used to use an Nvidia Shield, but no screensaver.1 point

I guess Emby isn't worth the cost of a Latte. Not to mention Latte will be gone in 5 minutes but the app license would be good for a lifetime.1 point

I recorded an OTA of a TV Show. Emby shows Closed Captions as off and there is no way to enable them. I know the TV show has closed captions as I can see them in VLC.1 point

So, basically you want everything for free? Or did I get it wrong?1 point

Hello. Could an option to move file types for subtitles to be added to the auto-organize feature? *.sub; *.idx; *.ssa; *.srt and maybe *rar as well. Cheers.1 point

I guess we can never do it right: For many years, the extraction process took a long time under high CPU load: => Users complained about long library scans and the CPU load (one of the reasons to introduce throttling) Since two years, we have the new lightweight extraction which is 5 to 30 times faster without much CPU load => Now, users are concerned that the extraction process does not use all CPU processing resources...1 point

Is it possible to auto organize and move the subtitles too? Its a lot of world to do manually after rename the tv series.1 point

I think that rather than copying a user being able to specify permission groups would be ideal. Eg make a group and put users in to the group then indicate which aspects of the group profile get applied to those users. This way we could change a whole bunch of users all in one go say if a new library was added.1 point

I was a hardcore fan of emby but now I've decided to move to plex. The client support on emby is not cool! You shouldn't put trial limit on you Firetv emby. Except that, everything else is gold.0 points
