  1. It would be useful to add a custom sort order for collections, so collections like Marvel, DC Comic, and Star Wars's movies can be ordered by chronological order instead of release date.

  2. @Sammy I've just done a little bit of testing, but so far, I'm really liking the ability to add TVE channels. It's tempting to drop at least 1 of my CableCards (and maybe even unplug my TiVo) and just use the TVE tuner. The only drawback appears to be the fact that video quality from TVE is slightly inferior to the CableCard or OTA version. It's decent, but not quite as good. It works well as a backup if all the other tuners are full though.

  4. I'm a big fan of services such as Rifftrax, and I hate having to manually mux files every time I purchase another release. Much in the same way that external subtitle file support was added, it would be nice to have external audio track support for TV and movies added as well. I wouldn't expect Emby to handle the offset calculations needed to sync the audio. It's not too difficult for me to modify that now.

  5. One thing that I would like to see implemented is the abilty to display lyrics in all of the apps. For those of us who have libraries with lyrics embedded in the actual files, it would be trivial. Simply scrape the lyrics from the lyrics tag and display them. As far as scraping from online lyrics databases, I don't see that working very well as just about every app that I have seen use it either doesn't get the correct lyrics or they are truncated with an add for the website.

  6. As I mention in a related post, I love the additional subfolders for Movie Extras (eg, Shorts, Scenes, Interviews, etc.)! It would be awesome to extend this functionality to TV Series as well. Specifically to add support for many/all of the same folders supported for Movie Extras, eg, extras specials shorts scenes featurettes behind the scenes deleted scenes interviews trailers As well as any additional folders that get added in the future (eg, hopefully Galleries). Support Placement of "Extras" Folders Within Each Season Folder, Plus A Naming Scheme to Link A Particular Extras Folder with a Specific Episode (eg, "\Season 1\E1 - Deleted Scenes\" for episode 1 deleted scenes): I want to clarify that it would be great if these various "extras" folder types could reside within each Season folder. So for example, within a Season 1 folder we could then have an "Extras" folder, a "Deleted Scenes" folder, a "Featurettes" folder, etc. And furthermore, that we could designate a particular folder to refer to a specific episode (eg, "\Season 1\E1 - Deleted Scenes\" for episode 1 deleted scenes). See more below, particularly why I think this would be so useful: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/55915-emby-server-theater-additional-extrasspecial-folder-types-for-tv-series-similar-to-movies/&do=findComment&comment=587195 Thanks for your consideration! PS - If this is something you might like to see implemented, be sure to "Like" this top/first post (as well as any subsequent posts in this thread that highlight particular aspects of what you are interested in) -- "Liking" the top/first post helps the Devs to know how much interest there is in a given Feature Request.

  7. Maybe there could be an option to show only unwatched media in the "Because you watched..." and "Because you liked..." sections of the Suggestions Tab? Or is there already? Anyway, I'm using the web client via Firefox on a Windows 7 Ultimate machine...

  12. That's very interesting. Now, If I could just figure out why that worked... I guess it's the equivalent of a "reboot" from an app perspective.

  13. Wasn't sure of the correct wording, so maybe a duplicate request word differently. When scrolling through channels, it would be good to get to the bottom, and have it roll over to the top again. Instead of having to head back up through the entire channel list again. If this could work on Rokus that would be even better.

  14. You're actually better off to ask this on the doom9 forums, as it is not the Dev team's responsibility to inform people the correct way to encode their files. Doom9 will let you discuss this as long as you do not discuss piracy, so not talking about downloads or such. The community there is far more knowledgeable and they will more than likely even be able to give you the proper command lines to use with ffmpeg.

  15. Hi, in terms of using the information, yes the apps and devices that support this will use them, for example our Android apps.

  19. The application supports both video and audio playlists. The detection of which is which may be off. If there is not a mediaType for the playlist it will assume it is audio. I am suspect playlists lost their mediatype and now video playlists are not report as mediatype = video. If the mediaType field is empty this used to be how audio playlists presented themselves they had an empty mediaType field. This is why it may incorrectly assume it is an audio playlist. I have not updated to this beta version yet so cannot tell exactly what is wrong only take an educated guess. I am going to make a second instance of Emby server to install this new Beta and figure this out.

  20. Quick question, is your server not able to start right now? If that's the case PM me TeamViewer info and I'll login and try and help you get this back up and running.

  21. @ebr, I Un/Re-installed ATV on my shield and the watched count issue appears to have resolved. The slow episode starts are much better, initial start up of the first episode in a session can still be a little slow - 2-5 secs, but autoplay next episode starts are now in the 1 sec range. Overall it's much better. cheers

  26. I'll review the info but most likely will be reworking some of these pages shortly or just removing/replacing them. If you're trying to setup remote access try this guide "Remote Access" https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44002137137-remote-setup This covers the basics of getting remote access to your Emby server. I'm following up this week with more advanced details that go into SSL setup, cert conversions, advanced port mapping and maybe Emby use behind proxies.

  28. I'm sorry but you're the one putting down the software and company based on very faulty information and lack of knowledge on this particular subject.
    1 point
  29. You can keep saying the same base less information to the cows come home but anyone who follows this knows better and knows facts. It's not a simple process at all to do this while transcoding and surely not anything like just tone mapping on the display side like what takes place in mpv. Rather simple algorithms can do that. The above is pretty trivial task compared to making this a filter for ffmpeg. Not understanding this process is the source of problem why you think it's trivial and should have been in the software a year ago. The problem even now while doing tone mapping while transcoding is the combinations of things taking place. For example you can DECODE on the GPU, resize on CPU, run filters in GPU, tonemap in CPU, run additional filters in GPU and then encode in GPU. You're passing a lot of data back and forth which causes bus IO and requires CPU use. This can still nail the CPU even when the GPU is only 20% used. On the other hand if you just want to DISPLAY the data it's easy to tone map this and doesn't take a lot of resources. When chip manufactures can do this on chip in the GPU you remove a lot of system resources needed to do this and can just hand off the process to the GPU while controlling the process but allow everything to take place there on the GPU. Some filters in ffmpeg can't use all cores available and some will only run in 1 or 2 cores and this too creates a severe bottleneck. This is exactly the problem a year ago and why it wasn't really possible to do for REAL-TIME transcoding. Only recent drivers from video companies support enough HW acceleration functions to make this worthwhile adding to ffmpeg in a meaningful way.

  32. If you're so APT at it, then how about you get off your duff and create a plugin that will actually work and can be adopted industry wide. Or is berating the dev team the only thing you can do? Intel themselves have been working on it for years, so please, use your expertise to help them, as it's obvious only YOU can save them from their folly. If a multi-billion dollar company is having issues solving it, it's obviously not something that can be done by a "rag tag" group of developers.

  33. @wakeboarder141 as Happy previously pointed out, try searching your library for 'Fade to Black' which is the "movie" with the same ID on TMDB. It may have been identified as that for now.

  34. That is correct. I'm not going to look into it til 4.6 goes live. Trying to fix issues with beta software is like trying to hit a moving target. If there is an issue with 4.6 after it goes live, I will have an update within a reasonable amount of time after (depending on the issue).

  37. In your previous message you mentioned it only happened a couple of times on a 6 or so hour period on Ethernet which is likely going to happen if something else uses the network briefly. Things will not be optimal when your Emby Server is attached via WIFI. Unlike Ethernet, wifi is asynchronous and isn't good for trying to send lots of bits at the same time in two different directions.

  45. Depending on your frame of reference it has gone everywhere or it has gone nowhere or it has never changed but our access to it has just moved. Actually I do know the correct answer but I cannot tell you because it would create a paradox and it would violate the "Temporal Prime Directive."

  46. Emby used to be "Your media your way." But not with things like combining "Next up" and "Continue watching." They are slowly but surely moving to make it more "Your media Emby's way. They still have a long long way to go to be true "Media Nazis" but the more often they move in the direction of "less choice" the closer they get to becoming just like Plex. A "worthy" goal they seem to have set for themselves. Of course they are way better than Plex most ways but several recent movements has just a bit closed the gap. A gap that I believe they should be striving to widen.
