  1. Feature Request. A present I have several user accounts setup for family members. When we sit down together to watch a movie we currently log into one account (Mostly mine), so obviously only this account gets the watched status. What happens then is everyone uses my account because there's isn't up-to date and it's "just easier". This results in my account telling me I've watched something when I haven't... I would like the ability to log into my account and select/deselect which other users are present so that when a movie/TV episode is watched together, their watched statuses are updated accordingly? The next time you log in again all other users would have been deselected. It could be implemented so each user account can do this, or only select user accounts can. Even a special "Family" user account, or multiple viewers button as long as everyone's watched status is correct. Even just ticking the users present on the login screen before login into an account.

  2. The good news is that after a lot of research into chroma-printing audio, and some magical comparison algorithms, we may be seeing this feature in emby sooner then you'd think. Very cool stuff!

  6. Hi Luke, Can you please get round to looking at this ... The database hack that I'd happily been using now does not work. Since the rescan of music due to the recent change for metadate the Genres are being overwritten. The Metadata folders for the old genres are still there that worked previously and the database path is still correct for these genres but the images are getting re-written. This only applies to MusicGenres though the movie and TV genres work as before. I know the image side of things does not seem a high priority for you but it really is a pain in the backside for those users who prefer a common look to interface and instead get the crappy collage images. Best Regards

  7. I mentioned it in another thread, but thought I'd put it here since this looks like a new section--just for posterity. Would like to have a bulk meta data editor function. For example, if I have 750 videos whose producing studio is the same, I want to select those videos and apply the name of the studio to those videos. Similarly, if there is a custom tag I want to apply to a subset of those movies, I want to be able to select them in bulk and apply the tag to those videos (instead of selecting them one by one).

  9. Hi, I would like to have an option to choose H265 instead of H264 in the Transcode option. It will be smaller for all bad bandwidth (2~5Mbit ADSL), but will have a great quality. Mobile phone can benefit of it greatly too with the 4G and the limitation of download.

  12. Hello, Perhaps I am not the first one to ask this question but it will be very cool if this feature could be implemented. I have 2 servers one at home and the other at work. ( and soon a third one...) So I have a movies library called movies on each server. I would like to see all the movies from a single 'virtual server location' when I use the app (ios or android ) where I will see only one movies library containing movies informations from the movie library at work and the movie library at home. It's an aggregation of movies informations from the movie library at work and the movie library at home. In fact when a user have multiple servers it will be perfect if another choice in the server list called "all servers" for example appears automatically with a merge of media informations from librairies with the same name on different servers.

Request that Emby server store Dolby Vision (including profile), Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, HDR10+ (smpte2094) and HLG for appropriate video in the db and use it for display in the media info and track selection sections of movie/episode details screen. This information once in the db can then also be used in numerous other areas like: Mediainfo Cover Art, Stats for Nerds, Distinguishing different DV profiles for hardware support and tone mapping Example Mediainfo app display of HDR10+ ffmpeg patch for HDR10+ https://patchwork.ffmpeg.org/patch/11491/ Related requested that may require DV profile information in order to prevent unneeded TM

  15. Unless I'm totally missing something, there's no way to add a row to the homescreen that displays the newest releases of movie library(ies). Would be a great, useful addition to latest media to have an option that sorts by release date instead of date added.

  16. I would like the ability to disable the camera upload feature, both per-user and globally. It seems odd to me that that isn't already there as far as I can find... Sure I could just not use it, but that depends on trust that your other users wont decide to enable it, as the only on/off is in each users personal preferences.

  18. Please read this post first. I was wondering if it would be possible to add something that would allow you to skip the intro to shows automatically while binge watching. When watching Netflix it does this for some shows, and im not sure if thats a feature of Netflix itself or a Chrome extension i use called "Flix Assist" but it would be a nice feature to have within Emby as well. and possibly even create a custom timed skip for specific shows

  20. It would be useful to have a "scroll-to-top" button present universally for any given page of the web ui. If you need an example of what this means, scroll down on any page of these forums. After a certain point, you will see the button fade-in on the bottom-right of your screen. I can see this request being countered with "this can already be achieved by using the alphabet selector on the side". However, this is not present in many places where a scroll-to-top button would still prove to be incredibly useful. For instance, when viewing a full library with sorting options set to anything other than 'Title'.

  21. Often times when I see "Reason for transcodng: Media bitrate exceeds limit." in the info I wonder, what kind of internet connection do they have? I know this can cover multiple scenarios like bandwidth limit set for user, server, client side quality setting, as well as AUTO bandwidth detection... Can you PLEASE add to the dashboard the returned client bandwidth capabilities? The value you are getting from the client that tells emby its bandwidth abilities. While you are at it tighten up the spaces between lines on the transcode items, and align the results to the right instead of center.. MAYBE SOMETHING LIKE THIS :

  26. It's a huge undertaking and rewrite, accounting for over half the code in the backend. It's not just TV features but the use or not of using ffmpeg and other things that lighten the IO and make Emby faster in this regard. Even the way ffmpeg is used is different. It's still in development and will be a bit longer as this isn't a plugin or simple replacement, but a major update. What was previously like maybe half a dozen setup screens for Live TV is now closer to 6 dozen, so you can really fine tune all kinds of things (if you want/need to) but can also use a wizard like setup similar to before to set things up in just a few screens. It's a completely different beast. 1) Curious, what type of video are you having issues with playing on the ATV? Got a link to a thread? Just personal opinion, but it's my favorite Emby client because it plays nearly if not all streamable files I can throw at it. 2) Agreed, photo libs could use a revamp. Music Libs just got revamped, Live TV in the works, some changes for other libs coming soon. 3) Emby doesn't have much in the way of present integration with other content providers, which isn't a surprise. This hasn't been a focus of Emby as those services have their own apps and if added to Emby would require credentials management for each user to make sure users not subscribed can't access the content they haven't subscribed to. Using these different services is pretty easy on Android, but not as easy on say a Roku as it only supports running one app at time. But on Android ATV especially combined with Alexa or Google Home it's not needed at all as you can do all this with your voice. <-- Stuff like this is likely more the future then trying to recreate other app functionality in Emby, IMHO. Besides that if you already have limited UPSTREAM from your ISP and serve friends/family outside your home, do you really want more content they can already get directly from the source running through your server and using your Internet connection?

  27. Hoping that enough people have support forum accounts, and know to like threads in the request subforum, and actually do that is too high a bar to gauge community interest in a feature I'd say. This feature was extremely useful to myself and many others I know, so much that I had to buy that other (inferior) popular media server app which implemented this feature within 2 months of the pandemic getting bad.

  28. @ebr Understood and thanks for the follow up. I know it must be a pain as Roku seems to often break things that used to work when doing firmware updates, like the current audio sync issue when direct playing 5.1 AAC - which is what prompted me to enable the "convert multi channel AAC" option as a crude work around to avoid having to manually enable playback correction each time I play a movie. Unfortunately enabling that revealed this other issue with longer movies that I hadn't run into before as most of my movies are AAC 5.1 which my RokuTV can direct play. @speechles Thanks, I also have the beta app and I tested that as well and it too had the same background image bug after playback fails. No need to apologize, I know you all are doing the best you can with Roku. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

  30. I would also be interested in that. Because each episode is compared to every other episode in the season, it is possible, that if there are two intros that are the same, these will compare and there will be a result for both episodes. However, if there is only one episode in the season with a distinctly different intro, it is possible that only the parts of the theme which match another version of it will have results. Does that make sense? If the Simpsons theme intro is extended for one episode only, then only the parts of the theme that is comparable will get a result. An intro time stamp will be generated, but in that particular instance, the tine stamp for the end of the intro would be marked at the last position in the stream where the compatible episode theme would match. However, if there were two episodes with extended intros, we would get a match.

  31. Okay, so at this point, there isn't anything we can do about this except for you to avoid a remux or transcode on movies that are this long. This is some sort of deficiency in Roku that we need to identify and then see if there is any way to work around. That won't be something that can happen fast I'm afraid.

  34. I will agree with ALL of the above. 2020 has been a huge bummer overall including Emby. As an end user Emby seems to have lacked any coherent path forward. What is the roadmap/list? You don't need to give expected/anticipated dates but come on clue us in. Maybe the major accomplishment for Emby in 2020 can be considered the overall polishing/improvements to the various UI/apps? - Seriously that is an area that has been a focus. I don't agree with a lot of it but it has been a focus. The word around the water cooler would lead me to believe 2021 should bring some of the features long requested. Let's hope so I can only stand the wait for a little while longer, there are other fish in the pond that deserve a look and I don't mean Plex or Jellyfin.

  38. Same feeling here, no big feature released. Emby used to be the most actively developed one, but looks like after the split of jellyfin the pace has gone low. I’m using the coronas time to try others. Plex now also has Tidal support out of box, looking interesting to me Edit: maybe a good idea if Emby’s team can share their plan in 2021?

  40. More important Jellyfin get rid of xml and went on to an all database backend. A step emby will need to go too, for example to get per user playlist and proper collection rights managment, and will get harder the longer it is postponed.

  41. Wonder Woman 1984 So hammy....with a thick slice of cheese. Patty Jenkins should be ashamed, and never allowed to direct a major movie, again. Maybe with some bread and mayo, it might make a nice sandwich? But not a movie...and certainly not 2.5 hours. I hate myself a little, for watching it.

  46. To gauge interest... What if you had the ability to "Forget" a series for the purposes of Next Up display. That is, it would no longer show in Next Up - unless you watched another episode. Sometimes you maybe watch a series for a while and, even though there is more of it or more is made later, maybe it isn't as good as the earlier seasons or maybe you just don't have time for it anymore. So you'd like it to quit showing up in your Next Up list so it is less cluttered and you can focus on the series you are actually watching now. If you start watching it again, the "forget" would be forgotten and it would start to show up in Next Up again.

  49. Came here to reply to your unedited post to disagree for my own personal situation about your statement saying "Of course, we all know (or should) that if we wanted to transcode a FILE that existed somewhere we could just convert it in advance of streaming it in H.265 and the CPU conversion would be the better way to do that."....but you'd already edited and changed it out! I have the hardware in my machine to do the realtime transcodes, I couldn't really tell the difference in most situations between say at 10Mbit file and 15Mbit file where there isn't a lot going etc. I don't know actual numbers, but lets say h264 takes 10Mbit and the equivilent h265 takes 5Mit, then I'm going to down the transcode limit to reduce load on my internet, my daughter and a couple of friends are the only people who use my server apart from myself and my wife when we are not home. As I have the hardware to handle the transcoding, I personally don't want 2 copies of the same film in 2 different codecs, it's bad enough from my point of view that I have to do it for 4k HDR movies because we don't currently have a tone mapping solution, but when we do, I'll be saying goodbye to to to the 1080 files and let my hardware transcoding take care of it. I want h265 to reduce the used bandwidth, this has particular uses as my daughter has a cellular connection for her internet and when we are out we usually are tethered to my phone. But you and others may want it for the opposite reason, higher quality for comparable bandwidth. Either way, we need this option now.
