I would love to have the option of displaying a large banner-like image at the top of the homepage to showcase featured titles like Netflix does. Configuration options: Display image or video Play trailer w/ mute toggle switch Rotating list based on release date, newly added or custom Enable on homepage and/or within each category Thanks and keep up the great work! I look forward to seeing Emby's continuing evolution.3 points

I like listening to my music through my roku/emby setup. However, I don't need to know how the artist is while listening. I was wondering if there is some way to set up a virtualization like on windows media player? I can wait and my roku will go to it's screen saver, but I would like to make a choice. Or even display the lyrics on screen, all of my music files have the lyrics embedded.2 points

Is there anyway we could have and option across the board but mainly on android apps to adjust the size of the artist art? Like plex has the slider that adjusts the size of the art, it's just I have a lot of artists and scrolling feels like an endless task. Could we not have it so it goes 4 across and 6 down or similar?2 points

Can you provide an example? Interlaced live TV and recordings have been happily delivered this way in this app for years.2 points

I'd really like to have 2 Factor Authentication added to the login screen. It's just this (optional) extra layer of security to help secure the server (which, especially if people use camera uploads) contains pretty private data. There are for every type of programming language quite a few libraries available, so implementation on a server shouldn't be too hard to realise1 point

Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless1 point

It could rotate or something, like in the theater Of coarse it would have to be able to be turned off I suppose for people who don't like the idea.1 point

I am switching over from a Win7 box running MBC to Chromecast dongles. With the Win7 box I had a HDMI to Cat6 setup that allowed me to stream to up to 4 displays/TVs simultaneously. It was great while it lasted, but involved stapling cables to the ceiling to run it from room to room - plus it has borked Can there be an option to multi-cast to several receivers at once? i.e. simultaneously play to Chromecast dongles in my office and living room and kitchen simultaneously so i can walk from room to room without stopping and restarting the movie or show all the time? I realize that bandwidth could POTENTIALLY be an issue, but i have a fill gigabit network and a multi-port NAS so that really is the least of my worries... Thank you!1 point

Also, It would be cool if we have various m3u lists and have the option to choose/assign each m3u list for each user.. Example. In user settings we can choose which library to give them for VOD so this shouldnt be hard enough to do it for live tv too no? USER 1 - Playlist 1 - Playlist 2 - Playlist 3 USER 2 - Playlist 3 USER 3 - Playlist 1 - Playlist 3 Etc etc.... *** Delete this message from another topic I opened because I posted it by accident there1 point

I have noticed there is no way to configure the path used by Auto-boxset pliuging to create folders to hold created collections. Given this is, by default, under the Data folder within the install folder of Media Browser server, and the fact this is on my SDD drive, it would be great if this folder may be overriden to a custom path (the way other folders may be configured via the Control Panel).1 point

Please read this post first. I was wondering if it would be possible to add something that would allow you to skip the intro to shows automatically while binge watching. When watching Netflix it does this for some shows, and im not sure if thats a feature of Netflix itself or a Chrome extension i use called "Flix Assist" but it would be a nice feature to have within Emby as well. and possibly even create a custom timed skip for specific shows1 point

Hi guys! I recently bought the new Chromcast with Google TV (Android TV) and it was a blast! The system fluidity speed is amazing. I just decided to give a better look at the app banner of Emby so I generated a APK launcher for the Emby Android TV app and I think it's a better fit in my opinion. I'm a graphic designer since 7 years now so if you need something else just ask!✌ PS: I have the Emby logo in vector, that's why. The app banner size is 1280px × 720px and the green color is the same as the Emby symbol logo. Cheers!1 point

You disagree that there are way more streaming boxes than HTPCs now? I'm sorry but that is ludicrous. We fully understand your position (and have for a long time) but it is obvious that is not the position shared by most people. Microsoft didn't kill WMC because it was a platform everyone was using. They killed it because virtually no one was (relative to their entire user base). Streaming boxes don't exist because they are accepted less than HTPCs. HTPCs are virtually non-existent now because streaming boxes are so much easier for most people.1 point
-
You can disagree from your personal standpoint but there is no arguing with the fact that HTPCs are now dinosaurs that have been replaced (actually, usurped and bettered) by these streaming boxes because most people just couldn't deal with HTPCs. This is also why Microsoft killed WMC. Even when everything was basically done for you and presented really well, people still didn't buy it. But they are snatching up streaming boxes and smart TVs non-stop.1 point

If you look at your console you will see the order as that custom css is still below the item css. It is not important enough to override existing code so adding div changes the targeting a little. div.itemBackgroundContainer.withBackdrop { background: none!important; }1 point

That may be for you personally but that is not the case for most people. Beyond the cost, there is the complexity of setup, maintenance and usage as well as a potential lack of easy access to things people expect like YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, etc. This is why there are now millions of streaming boxes in user's hands and not so many HTPCs anymore.1 point

Make sure that you implement the cache key for your image processor so that it doesn't have to run on every image request.1 point

That's correct - at least for me - Kodi 18 works perfectly fine.1 point

After discussing with our ffmpeg developer, it seems AMF does not yet meet all our requirements and will have to wait a bit longer. However, I just pushed a new beta version that includes the mesa drivers (r600 and radeonsi), and a fully upgraded vaapi stack, could you give it a try? The mesa drivers should largely be the same as the amdgpu drivers but older cards may not be up to speed yet depending on your host's kernel. I'm trying to resuscitate an old laptop so I can give them a try myself, while I wait for the new graphics card. I will also soon expose an env variable named LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME which will let you override which driver is used. Since libva may incorrectly default to r600, it can be useful to force radeonsi.1 point

I'm a bit curious why this is changed for SHIELD since it has settings you can use to deinterlace on the box itself? This had always worked just fine previously with CC, deinterlacing and being able to pause.1 point

People use botnets to try to brute force in for many reasons.. They may not realize it's a media server and just want to see what is being protected with a password They realize it's a media server and may have tons of pirated content they can leech They realize it's a media server an may have.... persona... videos .. self explanatory If they rent a botnet it's cheap to them, not legal but cheap.. if they find a weak password, they can leach all of your content even if Emby doesn't have the download option on ( capturing streams is trivial ) .. it will consume your bandwidth and hammer your server.. I mitigated the risk of anyone getting in by randomizing login names and passwords and hiding them from the login page, which oddly Emby does not do by default, or didn't used to .. Emby could solve this easily by having a login attempt counter and if too many failed logins happen, the ip is blocked for a specified time.. they could also mitigate this by integrating RBL or some other service like stop forum spam.. all are easy to implement.. I don't think you're ever going to get the feature you want as long as links can be shared.. What is the point of sharing it with a pin when you could just create a login for someone and only give them access to items with a specific tag? the feature request makes no sense when you start adding authentication to is since those mechanisms already exist. Tag a media item with something like 'joecanwatch' Create a user/password for 'joe' and select options to hide his login from the main screen.. just for at least a wee bit more security Specify that joe can view items only with a specific tag ( this is under user settings on the parental control tab ) There you have it.. now they just log in and they can see only what you let them see .. you achieve a very similar goal without angering the gods1 point

No, I didn't think it was a display setting. I thought it was part of playback or something audio. I found it. Thanks1 point

Hi there, have you explored display options by clicking your user icon in the top right?1 point

I mean, this is from my first post in the thread...so I'm all ears if there's a more efficient approach. My plugin *is* implementing MediaBrowser.Controller.Providers.IImageEnhancer, so it is firing off per image request to the API, so there's that at least. I've actually requested the feature I'm working on be added to the CoverArt plugin. If that was open source, I'd be working toward a PR, not a parallel implementation that I hope can eventually get ported over to CoverArt by its maintainers.1 point

You can check /lib in the docker container, you will find a file similar to libva.so.2.1000.0, this means we ship 2.10, and yes, 2.10 is out so 3.0 isn't on the horizon yet. Next emby betas will likely ship 2.10.1 point

Maybe I'm just not seeing the correct set of options, but here's the issue I'm dealing with: A user wants to watch all of the "Arrowverse" shows, which include Arrow, Flash, Supergirl and Legends. At several points in those series, they overlap and cross-over. So the order in which the episodes should be watched is based on the premiere dates of episodes in ALL of these series, not just one of them. (It occurs to me that another historical example would Buffy and Angel...) At first glance, it seems this calls for the introduction of something similar to the Collections in Movies, so that related series can be identified, and the "Play All" option would switch between series as needed to view content in the correct order. Am I wrong? Thanks for all the great work so far!1 point

yes "Emby-Server/system" is the correct folder. The server needs to load it when it starts, so make sure it's there when you start the server. But, quickly what ebr mentioned is a third way of doing this. It's a bit more tricky, but if you Google: "How to load dependency dll from embedded resource", something might come up. In fact, it's such an interesting idea, that if you figure that out, I'd love to know.1 point

It's been a while since I fiddled with it but I'm pretty sure you can load the dependency directly from your resource (without the need for the file copy or double restart). However, minimizing the dependencies is still the best option.1 point

There's a bug in the iHD driver with Gemini Lake (j4105, j5005, j5040, etc.) You can work around it by forcing emby to use the i965 driver. In the container run: mv /lib/dri/iHD_drv_video.so /lib/dri/iHD_drv_video.so.disabled Then restart it. The bug's just been fixed in the latest intel master (see #930) https://github.com/intel/media-driver/pull/1078 Hopefully it'll make it way to emby soon.1 point
-
Dependencies are tricky, because anything the plugin depends on will have to be put in the Emby-Server folder. The problem is, that anything you put in there will disappear when emby updates. There are two ways around this. 1. Find the project (hopefully open source) and copy then entire class system into your plugin. Now your plugin doesn't need to be dependent on anything but itself. 2. Copy the binary dll for Magik into your plugin as an embedded resource, and use the IServerEntry point 'Run()' method to look in embys root and see if it exists on load. If not, use Reflection to copy the embedded resource into the appropriate folder location, and you are going to have to restart the server again to load the dependency. I vote for number 1. It is probably the best. You'll have to restart the server twice after update, the second way. Let me know if you have any other questions.1 point

This has been discussed in various threads, but this thread is perhaps best suited to continue the discussion about DTS / TrueHD direct playback. The MPV player has received major enhancements such as HDR tone mapping and a substantial improvement in the playback of interlaced content. In my opinion the next step is direct playback of DTS, DTS-MA and TrueHD. The MPV player is fully capable of doing this, so I request client decode to LPCM for these format, especially to avoid direct streaming in favor of direct play.1 point

I got the Sony x900h 55inch. Pretty good for the price I think. I have an apple tv on my other tv, and for my experience, Emby is way better on Android. I'm really satisfied. I have using Plex a couple month ago, I happy to have made the switch.1 point

I'd like to throw my vote in for: store album position (not just track position) and when starting the album, go to that track/position instead of track 1 When resuming an audiobook this would be extremely helpful. Has there been any progress on these requests?1 point

If you use the same credentials in an email client (outlook etc) does this work ? Are there any firewalls preventing OUTGOING requests on Ports TCP 25, 465 and 587 ? If using Windows, default is to not block outgoing connections anyway. Yes, there is a lot out there. But IMO nothing looks nearly as good, and the price is well worth it. <rant> I think people have become so ridiculously cheap. No one remembers the days of $60-100 software, PER VERSION! They all want everything for FREE! They have gotten used to the $0.99 pricing, but of course that pricing makes sense on a flashlight app, or a simple file manager. Not something like this. </end rant>1 point

I'm relatively new to Emby although I've followed it for the last year. In Plex I have a couple shows where there are dual languages downloaded, and I can use a drop down box to select the other languages. So far I haven't found an option to select multiple languages.1 point
