Thanks, actually I think I'll start Kodi 19 migration before I start bugfixing on Kodi 17. There are just 2 main features pending till 5.0 has the same functionality as 4.X. I estimate Kodi 19 migration will be available in the next 2-4 weeks. Before Kodi 19 migration, I've to check what's the best approach. I hate version queries in the code like if <19 do this else do that. It makes code ugly...2 points

I upgraded my server to Big Sur today and my existing install of 4.5.2.0 is running fine. I've connected from a few different local devices and all seems normal. I did have a few minor issues with the Big Sur upgrade. I needed to buy an upgrade to Little Snitch 5, Sophos AV was a little problematic at first (and still not 100% functional), but otherwise a really simple and painfree update overall.2 points

My Samsung TV cannot directly play PGS Sub format subtitles (commonly used in blu-ray media), but it can directly play the video and audio. In this scenario the server re-encodes the video track with hard subs... I might be watching a 4K H265 video and just because the subs aren't compatible, the entire video has to be transcoded. From my point of view, that's a load of unnecessary work that we can potentially avoid. Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to try converting the subtitle track to VobSub format, or at least have an checkbox option in the user profile to "Convert incompatible subtitle track to VobSub" if the incompatible subtitle track is the only reason for transcoding? VobSub has much wider support on devices, as is the case with my particular brand of TV. Implementing this would be great for those of us using who enjoy direct streaming blu-ray content to Samsung TVs and other devices that don't support PGSSub subtitles. There might be other subtitle formats I'm not familiar with that could also be converted with this method. It should be very easy to implement, here's a quick example of an ffmpeg command converting pgssub to vobsub: ffmpeg -fix_sub_duration -i "input.mkv" -c copy -c:s dvd_subtitle out.mkv The '-fix_sub_duration' argument is necessary for some reason. Without it, subtitles don't display at all or they display and never disappear.1 point

It has been a few days since Emby for the "Majo no Tabitabi" series hasn't been able to recognize her. He finds it as "Kiki home delivery" of 1989 (studio Ghibli). I tried everything, changed the name of the folder from "Majo no Tabitabi" to "Majo no Tabitabi (2020)" to "The Journey of Elaina" to "Wandering Witch The Journey of Elaina" but nothing. Even putting the ID series from AniDB (15202) / TheTVDB (371436) and telling him to replace all meta and images, he keeps leaving this series (leaving only the right logo and backgrounds but everything else is wrong). Unfortunately I cannot change the name of the file (mkv) which is "[Erai-raws] Majo no Tabitabi - 07 [720p] .mkv" because this is automatically downloaded from qBittorent and automatically seeded in the folder that emby uses. Basically I created a folder (which we will call Seed) where there are the various series in progress and each contains the episodes as they come out (via RSS on qBit). Seed > Series 1 > Season 1 > Episode1.mkv Series 2 > Season 3 > Episode5.mkv Such a thing. To be clear: Jujutsu Kaisen; I'm stading; Tonikawa; King's raid; Danmachi 3; Sleepy Princess in the demon castle; they use the same nomenclature ([Erai-raws] Series Name - 07 [720p] .mkv) and do not have this aforementioned problem. Procedure for forcing identification (which then fails): How it comes out (here by now I have already tried to force majo no tabitabi and in fact the logo and backgrounds are right). identify (first attempt only using name) Result: find kiki instead of majo. This time I use the ID series from TheTVDB (it's better for meta than AniDB): good, found it (): So I tell him to use him and replace EVERYTHING ... Result, he hasn't changed a damn thing: To be clear, I have Italian as my preferred language and country language for the library in question. I also tried with AniDB ID and AniList ID but it doesn't update the meta. I also tried to delete the series (then re-download the episode) but it always finds that series. Thank you in advance. (I notice that compared to 6 - 8 months ago, Emby has made good progress compared to Plex which is really too reclining).1 point

My bad. I forgot that step. Just did that and now I do get the selection box. Great work! FYI - you're probably aware, but trailers still don't work.1 point

OMG! this is so hard and it shouldn't be. I appreciate your trying to help me... BUT, you make suggestions but NEVER tell me how to make them happen. I will happily put the images in a place that Emby can use BUT WHERE??????? and HOW?????? EXAMPLES PLEASE!1 point

hey This version (maybe also the prior one) is not functional at all on Kodi 17 (Windows 10). Kodi quits with a blank error message (coming from windows, not Kodi) after some time. (I wanted to make sure it runs okay on Kodi 17/Windows before I switch testing on Apple TV) kodi.log1 point

Hi, Just a quick check to see if Emby is fully compatible with Big Sur before I update my server? Thanks in advance!1 point

Just a quick update. xteve is working now. I wasn't aware that the url created by xteve, actually talked back to xteve. When I initially set it up, my server was at home, and I was away from home, and had xteve setup on a laptop (obliviously server couldn't connect with xteve)1 point

I just want to be able to see my extras the same way I can see TV episodes. That way I can see more of the name of each instead of just a tiny snippet, as well as a description if one exists.1 point

Right on. That was an easy fix!! Thanks, pal!1 point

I have a related question. My DVD rips have VobSub subtitles. The Android App can't playback VobSubs and therefore every DVD with subtitles needed is transcoded. This is a total bummer and makes the Android version on the Shield unusable for me. In contrast to OP: The Android App can disppay PGS but no VobSub. So VobSub to PGS would be needed.1 point

Google just announced they're discontinuing unlimited Google Photos storage, next summer. There's likely to be quite a few refugees watching for this functionality with keen interest in the coming months. https://www.wired.com/story/google-photos-free-unlimited-storage-ends/1 point

SO this is something I really miss from Kodi. In kodi, it's possible to go into a tv show, and select "All seasons" all the way at the beginning of the season listings. This would then bring up a playlist comprised of every episode in every season in order. What I would then use this for, is to "sort by IMDB rating" or "sort by TheTVDB rating" and then scroll through the highest rated episodes of the entire series. A super super useful feature that I used every day. And one I miss dearly in Emby. Of course I could just use Kodi and do DLNA from Emby, but it's just not as aesthetically pleasing or as stable. I much prefer Emby for every single thing EXCEPT this. Is this possible in the Emby metadata framework? Is there an option to do this somewhere already that I just can't find?? Would anyone else use this? Is it just me? Bueler?1 point

I appreciate you taking the time to post about this issue. With respect I'd argue that Emby is bigger as a media streaming platform than Synology. Most people that run a Synology NAS are using it to host Emby or Plex. I hope that someone at Bigscreen will take some time to setup an Emby Server and test it out to see what they come up with. It would be awesome to use Emby as the backend for Bigscreen. They do a great job with your environments and features.1 point

Hi, i'd love that search engine look for tags in complement with the filenames. For example i'd like to tag all my family "ski" videos so when i search for the work "ski" they are listed. Or is there an alternative to do that with the actual features ? Regards1 point

We shouldn't be downloading them for stubs so we'll resolve this. Thanks.1 point

Luke searching for "emby" on the Samsung app store produces no results as specified in my earlier post.1 point

There are multiple options: Existent tags via The MovieDB (written in the movies overview, you can edit them) or own work by knowledge or searching in databases like http://aftercredits.com or http://www.mediastinger.com ...1 point
