Request: Add a visual seeking method with progress bar using thumbnails from chapter markers or the 10 second thumbnail generator (as defined by the users server options) for skipping. Now that the >> << are remapped to next and previous items in a list there is no way to conveniently skip chapters during playback. Exiting and going back to the details page to select the next chapter is inconvenient and so is clicking skip forward 50 times at 30 seconds a pop to get to where you want to be. The ATV chapter skipping and visual seeking methods are good examples of a way to advance/reverse on the progress bar using thumbnails . Click the UP key could bring up a slider where you can select chapter images and/or the newer bif images. Then you can use the left and right arrow to scroll through the images Currently the UP and DOWN keys are both mapped to bring up the OSD, so the UP should be free for other things like a chapter skipping slider2 points

I just want to say an enormous thank you to Carlo @cayars who remoted to my machine through Google Chrome Remote and helped me deconflict some IP settings within my router. A true gentlemen, very polite helpful and patient with a NON IT person like me. He reolved the issue within 10 mins and got my phone connecting to my NAS Emby Server from my phone externally to my network which I had been staring at for 3 days!! I am buying an Emby Subscripton as a way of saying thank you to this community. All the best2 points

Given the deinterlacing problems of the MPV player, it would be interesting to have an option to force deinterlacing on the server, as in the application for Android TV.1 point

I know how to do this and you know how to do this but maybe a plugin would simplify things for users that don't know how to do this.1 point

Assuming library paths will be the same on any system, the programdata folder (name is different on different platforms) is has everything you need.1 point

do the missing folders only have one video in them? - emby does flatten the folder structure - so the mv will be in the video tab if you are getting movies for videos - you probably have the moviedb as one of you metadata providers - i turn it off as it makes the situation worse imvdb is almost a chocolate teapot only get at best 60% match and the artist names and song title have to match - else random stuff happens - and a lot of mv are not on the imvdb but it always returns a result - sigh dont name your mv with artist-song name - just use song name and put each one in its own folder named the same as the song Yes this will require more work etc - but pain will be less going forward if you follow those basic rules - found through trial and error - then you just need to then go through and correct the 40% by hand. did this over a week for 1800 mv - now have no problems (well almost none) MV are one of the poor relations of emby like audiobooks and books - nothing done on them for over a year1 point

Well, I rather schedule a synchronization job once a night (with a shutdown emby-server of course) instead of using multiple plugins I have to keep track of. And frankly, I don't like storing metadata along the media files. You really helped me out with that, thanks a lot!1 point

There's lots of good things in the knowledge base as there's a tab up top for it to quickly get there as well. I'd say YES and doing them both will never hurt.1 point

Would it be possible to add the bitrate and frequency e.g 24bit 192khz and file type. When playing an album. I'm used to this in other music app players. If it is possible can I get pointed in the right direction.1 point

I will try to request to "cut" a piece of video with the logs that I sent. And put it on the cloud1 point

Hi again As I said everything seems to be working ok with 4.1.21 after database reset. Only thing I didn’t try yet was music update/incremental1 point

Hi yes , incremental is working for tv shows after I reset the database1 point

Hi, There is an option in each library when setup (turn on advanced) called "Save artwork into media folders". If you enable this then moving forward and changes to album/movie/show covers will get saved with the media itself. You know about the Config Backup and People Plugin so use those. If you want to backup things by hand as well take a look at the directories mentioned in the KB article: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159936-backup1 point

I did finally figure this out. While xTeVe has a "Number of Tuners" option in the settings, it has the same thing in the Playlist definition. Apparently that is the one that matters. I set that to 5 and Emby's "Simultaneous Stream Limit" back to 0, for unlimited, and everything works as expected.1 point

Here a small Script to change the Colors on Debian after every Update. Many thanks to Happy2Play for the tip, which can be done by script #!/bin/sh find /opt/emby-server/system/dashboard-ui -iregex '.*\.\(css\|js\|json\|html\|txt\)' -exec sed -i -e 's/\:green/\:#0C57D6/g' {} \; find /opt/emby-server/system/dashboard-ui -iregex '.*\.\(css\|js\|json\|html\|txt\)' -exec sed -i -e 's/#52b54b/#0C57D6/g' {} \; find /opt/emby-server/system/dashboard-ui -iregex '.*\.\(css\|js\|json\|html\|txt\)' -exec sed -i -e 's/#2bc253/#0C57D6/g' {} \; find /opt/emby-server/system/dashboard-ui -iregex '.*\.\(css\|js\|json\|html\|txt\)' -exec sed -i -e 's/#54f054/#0C57D6/g' {} \; find /opt/emby-server/system/dashboard-ui -iregex '.*\.\(css\|js\|json\|html\|txt\)' -exec sed -i -e 's/#5EC157/#0C57D6/g' {} \; find /opt/emby-server/system/dashboard-ui -iregex '.*\.\(css\|js\|json\|html\|txt\)' -exec sed -i -e 's/#009F00/#0C57D6/g' {} \; find /opt/emby-server/system/dashboard-ui -iregex '.*\.\(css\|js\|json\|html\|txt\)' -exec sed -i -e 's/#00B32C/#0C57D6/g' {} \; find /opt/emby-server/system/dashboard-ui -iregex '.*\.\(css\|js\|json\|html\|txt\)' -exec sed -i -e 's/rgba(82,181,75/rgba(12,87,214/g' {} \; find /opt/emby-server/system/dashboard-ui -iregex '.*\.\(css\|js\|json\|html\|txt\)' -exec sed -i -e 's/rgba(82, 181, 75/rgba(12, 87, 214/g' {} \; cp -a /usr/local/bin/emby-change-color/logowhite.png /opt/emby-server/system/dashboard-ui/modules/themes/logowhite.png service emby-server restart1 point

I have an Android TV box called "TVhub" Not sure what AndroidTV version it have, but it states "Version 9" and probably refers the Android version... The thing is that every time I have been forced to reset the system I have had serious problems logging into my account on it. The emby.media/pin have never worked (error with username/password for some reason) So I add the address manually and that works. But usually it takes two or three tries before I succeed, as I always are fooled by the button I think is selected. So instead of pressing what I think is "next" I press "Cancel". Buttons here are "Next", "Skip and add IP manually" and "Cancel". Guess what button is selected? (Answer "Next") And when I select the right one and have added the address I get this screen: Here the two buttons are "Cancel" and "OK". And not only have "Cancel" moved to the left. The button selected here is "Cancel"(!!) which make the way of showing what is selected complete opposite from that page before.. If I had one extra hint on the earlier screen as that had three possible buttons (So I could gather that the button not framed was selected) I have here a fifty/fifty chance. As the previous page had the button without frame selected, that is what I go for here as well the first and second time (thinking something else went wrong). So the setup here is really tricky and a PITA. Usually I do this once and it runs a year or so - until I forgot how it worked and start over again next time.1 point

I think he's talking about a lot of providers moving away from m3u streams and instead forcing XC/API integration. FWIW, m3u4u.com can take an CX login and make a m3u url out of it. John1 point

The access rights of Emby to the respective folder are not correct. After updating to the new Emby version 4.5.2.0 you should check whether the user Emby has the necessary rights to the media folder.1 point

Yes pretty sure you would need to look at a database of someone still experiencing this issue, as a new database will resolve said issue.1 point
-
@Luke The problem from my testing is not in the newer servers - you changed the item type in the db at some point - so it does not appear to happen with newish db's since that change the problem is a historical one - when the addition movies were a diff type to the main movie (cant remember the type number 16 or 18 maybe) they were not deleted when they were removed from the db or the main movie was - they then prevent items being added to the collection - not sure why as never bothered to track that back as editing the db fixed the issue by deleting the orphaned entries. So you are chasing a ghost if using a new db I cant provide an old example db - as i have manually corrected my db's1 point

As @cayars and I have said already, the client already detects what capabilities your playback device(s) have and acts accordingly, whether that is a local downmix, or passed off to the server for a transcode/remux. You keep bouncing between devices/clients and offering different information, so it's difficult to see what the real issue is. So we need to close this thread and ask you to open a new one for one device/client in the relevant forum and provide the information that has been asked for several times already. Once the issue on one device/client is resolved, then we can move onto another device/client if needed. Thanks.1 point

Ah yes, the auto auto-profiles. I'd forgotten about that. You won't need the script in the next Theater release. You can test the next release. It's in the testing area.1 point

Hi all, I have a question I can see in the swagger packages on my server (i.e. here http://swagger.emby.media/?url=http://emby_test:8096/openapi&api_key=blahblah#/ProfileHandler) that I can use the following commands without any authentication GET /MBBackup/Backups DELETE /MBBackup/Backups POST /MBBackup/Profiles/Backup POST /MBBackup/Profiles/Restore This is really scaring me. I've also tried it myself I can definitely restore and create a Backup just by knowing my server's endpoint. I can also list backups. Which then in turn shows everything. Usernames / backup paths etc etc Can someone please look into this ? How can we disable this ? I have been looking for a way to stop this from happening from within EMBY , but I can't. MM1 point

Oh yes, that would be great. But don't make it a global option but a library view type. So we can have it on in one library and off in an other.1 point

In this new forum every click I make, to open a post, or to return to the thread list, takes a bit longer to respond than it did in the old forum. If there had been upgraded hardware at the same time as the software, maybe I wouldn't have noticed, but in fact I find it a little irritating. However, I have also been able to arrange my forum viewing so that I need less clicks anyway, which adequately compensates. But the thing is, it takes very little extra sluggishness to be really noticeable. When I was first programming an OS in the 1970s I set myself a target that no command would ever cause a delay of more than a second before there was a response. We now have processors 100,000 (up to 2,000,000, but I can't afford them) times faster than I was using, but I now routinely have to wait multiple seconds for a response. There is a balance to be found between computer power and the glitz of an interface, and these days the glitz is getting a bit ahead... Paul1 point

I do understand "screensavers" in general and I understand what you are saying some screensavers are designed to do. However that purpose is not wanted by me as I can find what I want to watch all by myself and machines, no matter how cleverly designed, have no place for me in making suggestions. I just want Emby to help me browse and play my media. I know most of what I have in my library and I can make my own decisions and find media I want to vied as long as the program I am using does not get in the way.1 point
-
I'd suggest you catch more flies with honey but honestly, who wants flies?!? You win more converts with compelling arguments. That's better. 'You all suck, I know, I'm an internet expert' isn't a compelling argument. If you have good design ideas the team will listen. You might want to back them up with some before & after screens showing the improvement. Your screenshot showing your own personal tweaks hasn't been well received but that could be an attitude thing...1 point

That would be evident the very first time you browsed to the items in any particular app but not on subsequent times.1 point

Man there are some ungreatful idiots on these boards, sadly most of them probably have not been around since the beginning like others of us had. Some of us have seen all the hard work you guys did in the MB days. Even back then I chose to be a supporter because bar none I knew you guys were making a product that fit my needs and use and the way it has evolved has been amazing. I've gone from having 50 or so movies to flip through in MB to basically becoming my own Netflix and TV Headend for my family and friends. Personally I say keep up the good work guys!! As other's here have stated with the money you've invested in buidling a PC/Server to be able to handle running Emby, and you're now complaining about 99bux then you obivoulsy have you head up your ass. I will say this. if you nitwits think 99bux is bad, you better hope that the dev's never get venture capital investors........1 point
