  1. I've noticed TVmaze has been just as good or better than TVDb for some time now.

  2. A massive thank you to everyone who has been interested in this topic and trying to resolve the problem, testing etc. Quite incredible and a massive learning curve for me For now i will/have switched back to my qnap server as it does work until they either fix this or i try ubuntu No idea about using ubuntu but sounds like id enjoy having a go at getting it working. Hopefully the devs will come up with an answer as its been proven to work with other software. Once again thank you

  3. Is this doable by some sort of plugin ? Maybe add your imdb credentials and then be able to rate movies here and have them on imdb as well (not talking about sorting here, just rating stuff)

  4. Guys, The ebook side of Emby/MediaBrowser has been long stalled or rather stagnated. I would like to offer up a couple of suggestions. Many people use calibre as an ebook/comic book tool for scraping data and general management of their collection already. This program is absolutely astonishing in its ability to pull metadata from post calibre scans, as well as draw in metadata from the file source and/or directory structure. http://vaemendis.net/ubooquity/ Its a self contained .jar server/reader combination. And honestly I am very impressed by it's small footprint and wide range of abilities. The other option is COPS , which was written specifically with calibre in mind. It is open source, so making it work with emby I would think would be fairly easy. https://blog.slucas.fr/projects/calibre-opds-php-server/ Ever since the original release of MediaBrowser's bookshelf I have always wanted something that would allow me to 'read' my collection, rather than being basically nothing more than a place-set for images of books I own. I am sure that those who mainly have audiobooks are thrilled with bookshelf , but it's nothing more than an extension of the music library IMHO, not new features. We can have both right? Here I give you two suggestions free of charge.. Just because I love you, and Emby Personally I plan on running the Ubooquity Server along side of Emby from now on, just because of it's massive functionality and tiny footprint. But I sure hope that someone decides -- "yeah, ebook support should be in here too" and do something about it - rather than allow this now very very ancient issue to continue to remain an issue. And so I don't have to have 20 different ports open, some with SSL support - some not, because Emby isn't delivering the 'complete package'. (Please take some of this with humor, I know you have your hands full with improvements/bugs/suggestions/requests)

  5. Background I find it less than ideal when looking at a person's biography, to see them appear as guests stars on episodes as well as at the episode's series level Goal Remove duplicate guest stars and actors from episodes, whilst protecting legitimate duplication for non acting roles e.g Director. Remove spurious noise from person's bio page. Easier to see where an actor has directed their main series or indeed other episodes in other series. Design Remove any guest stars on episodes which are actors on the series. testmode (default on) to log proposed removals rather than make changes. Installation populate username and password and emby url in config. Note - testmode = $false/$true in Config may require latest powershell and relaxed powershell execution policy. Backup your database prior to use Use with extreme caution on live databases, best tried on a test database first Would not use on a database with manually curated metadata [person especially] (without alot of testing) Notes tested on Windows Powershell but should be agnostic Does not lock metadata so future library refreshes may revert changes, script could be scheduled for regular cleaning. Does not actively respect metadata locking, may ignore, have not tested as i don't use. I have run it on my live database but results have not undergone any long term testing. For me, 10000 episodes with duplicates cleaned out of 40000 episodes, took about 30 minutes to run. reduced database by 50MB down to 440MB Caveats On very fast systems Powershell may open more sessions with the api than the OS network stack will support - havent found a solution to this but i was fine on my library since i rewrote script to reduce api calls. In any case the script can just be rerun and it will continue from where it finds the next duplicate. issues / suggestions welcome. PersonCleaner v0.0.0.3.zip

  6. While watching Live TV, the show consistently stops at 3 minutes after the hour and after the half hour so I have to exit the show and restart it for the show to continue. I am using a Shield as the client with ET version 1.8.33g and the latest server, but the problem has been with multiple server versions. I also direct stream Live TV because I like to have the skip back/skip forward feature. Attached are the logs from this morning where the show stopped at 7:03am and 7:33am. Thanks for your help. ffmpeg-directstream-fef1798d-5962-4bfb-ac4a-b8aefe48c39e_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-130f7323-4298-40bb-bed6-15672248efd8_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-b6e4db05-4300-451f-9c3e-6d6a35071fab_1.txt embyserver.txt

  7. My guess would be a Windows install issue, but just a guess.

  8. There are lots of programs out there that will do this for you. In a case like this I would use Bulk Rename Utility.

  9. Seems like a regression, you've added an extra step when what was there before was working well.

  10. Just curious, but since this is external media you have connected to your router is there any reason you can't plug the USB drive directly to the Shield TV for better performance and to eliminate the network for storage?

  11. Getting Emby Premiere is the best way to accomplish that!

  12. Figured it couldn't hurt so instead of doing a soft reboot, I did a hard reset on my router. Re-applied port forwarding, and voila. 10 mins into a movie and no issues so far. It makes absolute no sense, and I guess happening the same time Emby was updated was a fluke. Go Figure. Thank you all for the troubleshooting.

  13. Hi, no there isn't, but it's something we're interested in adding for future updates. thanks.

  14. Thank you. I will try it now. I am looking at the Emby server dashboard and it indicates "Direct Playing". Excellent Sooty234!!! This is a big plus for Emby and promotes being an Emby Premiere subscriber, no? Thanks again.

  15. Version .85 usb should be available any time now. Luke has them out there before the 1st of the month because that's when the messages start appearing. At the same time he sends them to Samsung and it's all up to Samsung how long they take to review. If the store is still showing .82 for your model (every model is tested separate so others could have a different version) then Samsung is several releases behind in review which is one reason they were made available for usb download.

  16. Use Theater and it won't transcode at all. It'll play it directly.

  17. That was it. Movie has to be loaded and playing. It being in PCM prior to loading the movie does not work. After doing this for a few movies they mostly all seem to work fine now when I just load them up and play. Thanks much!

  18. Well it's not technically picking the "wrong" NIC as you have multiple, just not the one you want it to select. These types of setup can be a bit tricky as you know. The best solution for most people would be to use static IPs on your LAN and then setting the IP you want it to use in Emby directly. This way you control what IP Emby binds to and any virtual NIC changes won't affect your Emby Server.

  19. thank you again, but I am good, all working now. I will keep in mind in case I need this in the future, thanks!

  20. the one that was a problem was called "19 holidays" I renamed it to "holidays 2019" and that seemed to fix it, although it could also have simply been a complete coincidence I don't currently have a library that isn't working, they are all working now - but this has been an ongoing issue and I'm sure it won't be long before I add another and see the problem again. when I do I'll return with a log, although having watched this happen to multiple libraries in the past I can promise you that the only entry that appears is the "deserialising options.xml" line, and then that's it, I just have to wait until I think a suitable amount of time has passed and then refresh the library again. I've also had it happen where one or more of the subfolders inside the root folder will show up as empty, which seems to be the same problem (the scanner simply ignoring or not seeing the contents of a folder, but with no indicator as to why), and again after multiple refreshes the content will suddenly all appear (edit: I know we get a log entry when the full library scan is completed - what we don't get is a similar entry when an individual library scan is completed)

  21. Yes, Emby picks the wrong nic unless I set the virtual nic to dynamic ip address. I can also set the IP in the Emby Dashboard and that works too. Since I have set the router to always give this machine the same ip address that should be safe I would think as long as I am on my home network. For now though, I have just set my Vbox nic to dynamic IP address. I don't start up any virtual machines very often anyway.

  22. When using Android app, instead of remuxing it direct plays, so there's no glitching. Are you decoding DTS on the client side? Avoid remuxing when playing DTS tracks on unsupported systems is a great improvement. Thanks!

  24. @Mibok did TMDB plugin Version 1.3.7 update resolve your issue? I know it did in my testing.

  25. Hehe... Yes, I know that some hardware is limited. I'm not saying remove or replace what is already implemented, just add an unlimited option, and let the device handle it. I actually think it would be a good troubleshooting option. It will allow overriding emby's safeguards (I wish I could override them all. I detest safeguards). Let's pop the cork and run amok!

  26. I just signed up for Premier for this feature - any updates on resolving to 1080p trailers (or even 720p)? I didn't even know they publish 480p trailers on the internet any more lol.

  28. @haljordan There are a couple topics around but nothing official. But you would update \programdata\root\default\{specific library}\options.xml (path will be OS specific) with new path and modify Path in MediaItems table (with Emby shutdown). something to how this user update metadata path issues. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/63573-36051-metadata-people-empty/&do=findComment&comment=631133 Depending on where you store your images, you could have to do the same to the Images column also. Looks like the ImagePath column in Chapters3 table also if you save bif files with media. Ideally a backup of the entire Emby Server Programdata folder would allow for proper restore if something goes wrong.
    1 point
  29. Yes if Path and Images don't point to %volumeUSB2%. You should maintain a copy of the entire Emby Server Programdata folder if you want to make changes, as that will allow you to restore if anything goes wrong.

  30. To me it looks like it is re-reading the virtual collections that reside in "\Emby-Server\programdata\data\collections", Deleting the Collections Library from Dashboard-Library does not delete these virtual collections. You have to manually delete/multi-select and delete or manually delete from that folder and do library scan. In your case "/var/lib/emby/data/collections/" folder

  31. You shouldn't have to but can you try this. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/89609-23-doesnt-start-on-synology/&do=findComment&comment=920671

  32. It appears to be correct, but subfolders are getting that permission according to Emby Server. I will have to find the other topic but you may need to reapply permissions all subfolders. But I thought that is what the new version was suppose to do.
    1 point
  33. Just guessing but have you seen this topic. Similar same issue with permissions. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/90224-45050-update-and-metadata/&do=findComment&comment=929989

  38. the "easy" bit is extracting the sub tracks from the video - ffmpeg/mkvmerge etc can be easily scripted to do this the "hard" bit is converting the subs to srt - some are easier than others text based subs ass etc should be easy enough the challenge is the "picture" based subs which need converting via OCR etc - this is very hit and miss as its dependant on the quality of the video/text images and the font used - doing this by hand for the occasional video via SubTitle Edit - you get a huge variation in accuracy of the OCR - 90% i have done have required manual editing after OCR - for miss identified text from the subtitle images created for blu-ray/dvd players etc. This gets more complicated the more languages you want to extract/keep/convert etc Scheduling via task scheduler or cron etc is straight forward as emby does not provide you a way to do this currently Dont think its impossible to do - just not sure the outcome is going to be fully automatic and require you to check each srt produced from a pgs sub etc

  39. Thanks - I do want it to prompt on rest of lan, just would've been nice on the local host that Emby is running on. No biggie, either way, I have no issue logging in. Was just surprised when I got prompted.

  40. 4.1.20 Stable Changelog: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/plugin.video.emby/releases/tag/4.1.20

  41. I find myself suggesting to other users something they might like to watch. In my specific use case it is childrens DVDs but in this new `Netflix and chill` culture comments like `have you seen - you should watch` are practically a universal conversation point. It seems like a feature that could leverage the exiting favorites/collections logic but between users. There will obviously be privacy issues to consider in a non home environment.

  42. Hi, Try logging in as a non admin on your system and you'll see the information displayed is slightly different. Users will not see path information but will get the video, audio, sub metadata.

  43. Hey Team Wanted to know if we could add a recommendation function for other users in your Emby set up. Bit like suggestion but by other users on your emby server
    1 point
  44. Hi all, I have a NAS at home with a lot of movies and TV shows. This library is shared with family. When I have seen a good movie, I would like to send a "recommandations" to my friends, available in their Home page in Emby. Actually, I send a mail, or a message in WhatsApp / Viber to my friends / family, but it should be great if they can have the movie directly available in their home page Thank's

  45. Yes there is hope. We are going as fast as we can. Thanks for the feedback.
    1 point
  46. Would love this feature also. I was planning on setting up a 'WATCH THIS' playlist to recommend stuff to friends and family, but I guess I would actually have to set that up on a per user basis and there would be no real way for them to recommend stuff back to me. This suggestion is a hell of a lot cooler.
    1 point
  47. Yes, I agree. What you originally proposed would be a cool feature. Anyone else who agrees, should hit "like" on the first post here.

  48. Hey, I think it would be great, that after playing a movie you can give the movie your own rating. I know there is already favorite and like/dislike, but a distinct rating from 1 - 10 would be much clearer. I have a big movie collection and sorting after my own rating would be a great addition, because sometimes i forget how much i liked the movies i watched and if i rewatch them i have at least a little orientation. What do you guys think, is this possible?
