With the old trakt plugin we had the option of rating something after it was over, it would be nice to see that brought back. Something very simple and maybe as easy as selecting the rating by hitting the number on the remote.2 points

Pretty simple suggestion. I have multiple users for my Emby server. If I want to do continuous maintenance on the media, I have to tell everyone. some of them are harder to reach than others ( i.e. no Facebook or Skype chat etc. ) It would be great if say... on the admin panel, I could hit a check box that enables 'maintenance mode', where the server still runs does everything as normal, but instead of the login screen it displays a maintenance page saying the server is unavailable. Even better if I were able to directly put a reason in a text box that would then display on the login screen as well. Not really sure what others would think of this, but for me it would be quite helpful. mostly if I want to make sure no one is trying to access content I know won't work until I've done a full library scan again. Thanks for reading. -Kyle1 point

Having started using the download to... option one thing thats a major PIA is having to pick the options you want everytime you use it i.e. it looks like this everytime when i would like this We dont have any settings to control this - unless i missed it somewhere But if it could save the user preference at least for the browser session that would be an improvement or save it to user preferences1 point

Internet no longer required to run Most of the changes in this version are "under the hood" but the most significant thing you will notice is that a constant internet connection is no longer required for this app to function. Emby Premiere will still need periodic internet to validate but this app used to require a constant connection to function and no longer does. Other changes and improvements: New Features / Improvements: App no longer requires the Internet to function "mov_text" subtitles are now embedded on the Native Player. Added play button support on Siri Remote to libraries Fixed jerky scrolling behavior that was prevalent in most of the app but especially in grid-based views Improved handling of missing episodes by adding a "MISSING" tag to episodes in a season and on specific episode detail view App now respects Live TV access settings App now respects Live TV Recording Management access settings Folder items no longer display the tabs across the top New Playback settings view that aligns with the web app New Subtitles settings view that aligns with the web app (no subtitle appearance settings yet) tvOS 13 Launch Screen updates: The Launch Screen now respect the device Appearance (Dark / Light) The "Starting Up..." screen has been replaced with a screen that looks identical to the Launch Screen creating a smoother experience Instead of showing a white screen on startup (say when Internet is unavailable to validate a device) the Emby loading screen is persistent until those requests finish. Additionally, an activity indicator is present so the user knows something is happening. Loaders are now present when selecting a server and a user so the user knows activity is taking place. Select Version / Audio / Subtitles view has been re-written. With this update we've added a Resume button in addition to the play button Now when you play an item in the middle of a playlist or music album it will continue playing the next item. In a previous version it would only play that one item There is now a played indicator for items in a video playlist so you can tell if it's been watched or not The Now Playing menu item is back. This was removed in previous releases due to a tvOS bug that would cause duplicate "Now Playing" and app crashes. Apple fixed this in tvOS 13.4. DTS 5.1 audio is now correctly transcoded to AC-3 Bug Fixes: Fixed a bug where a movie’s poster was shown in a thumb during a recording Fixed a bug that prevented playing an active recording from detail when selected from the home screen Fixed a bug that prevented playing an active recording directly from the home screen Fixed a bug where an active recording wasn't showing the proper image Fixed a bug where the Episode Detail view would show "undefined" when other episodes had no episode numbers Fixed a bug in tvOS 14 where an error would display when backing out of playback Fixed a number of bugs in the Live TV Guide that would cause app crashes Fixed a bug where the Season Detail view would show "undefined" when an episode didn't have a number Fixed a bug where the episode title would not display in the Info menu for the native player Fixed a Top Shelf crash when image URLs did not exist for items Fixed a bug that prevented podcast art from showing when using the Podcasts plugin Fixed a bug where pressing back/menu from when selecting Instant Mix from an album detail would show a black loading screen Fixed a bug where pressing back/menu from when selecting Instant Mix from an artist detail would show a black loading screen Fixed a bug where pressing back/menu from shuffle on album detail would show a black loading screen Fixed a bug where pressing back/menu from shuffle on artist detail would show a black loading screen Fixed a bug where pressing back/menu from shuffle on albums, album artists, and songs tabs would show a black loading screen Fixed a bug where pressing back/menu from play all on albums, album artists, and songs tabs would show a black loading screen Fixed a bug where track numbers weren’t displaying properly Fixed a bug where album that has been favorited would not show in UI Fixed a bug where actor roles with quotes would show as HTML encoded quotes Fixed a bug where network requests would fire for first tab in a Menu view even if it wasn’t your default In the Channels view of Live TV if there is no channel number if previously displayed "undefined." Now it just displays the channel name if the channel number isn't defined.1 point

You've been focusing on /media/pi/kids. Keep in mind - it will save a lot of headaches - the OS user emby and/or the OS group pi need to be able to access every directory leading to kids. Needs access to /media (r-x) and /media/pi (r-x) and /media/pi/kids (r-x)1 point

since we're already doing all the leg work for you, the least you can do is translate wtf these messages are saying. im patient, but it's getting thin also, set up an ssh server on your pi so we can stop with the screen shots of screens...... seriously1 point

Yeah we lack that "next episode starting in XX seconds" screen on Roku. It is on our roadmap to get this on Roku too. As far as hanging on playback at the end and not progress to the next this is a problem. Very interested in solving that problem. Thank you for the logs. We will investigate more on this now that other work has been completed. Thanks for the help. Please report any, and all issues you find. We enjoy solving issues.1 point

what is the output of groups emby it also is pretty worthwhile for you to add an ssh server to your pi so you don't have to keep taking pictures of your monitor.....1 point

Since you are on a Synology the "TrustFailure" is a known issue in stable 4.4.3.0. There are dozens of topics in the Synology forum section. You will need to install the beta version or wait awhile for a future stable release. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/88446-new-synology-package-for-testing/1 point

Understanding the case of why the episodes are not marked as 'watched' would be useful. On short TV shows, I find that sometimes the 'Max' resume percentage is too high and it thinks that even though the show has ended (for you), you are not yet at 90% - thus you get it as a 'continue watching' item. Set it to 75% or something, then it will mark it as played even when you are 3/4 of the way through for example. This is a per library setting.1 point

Thanks. I'm on the beta, but will wait before upgrading. There is a thread on reddit, suggesting that we should install Emby in docker, then it works. As once you've installed DSM7.0 you can't go back, you may want to look at that, unless @Luke or another mod can confirm they are working on getting Emby compatible with the new DSM version.1 point

You can test this by temporarily turning off these two user settings on the server Allow video playback that requires transcoding Allow video playback that requires conversion without re-encoding This will prevent it from trying to convert the TrueHD audio. If it plays through to the amp then we can update the client to better support this automatically. If not, then there is probably not much we can do.1 point

If you wanna play 4k content on the apple TV go with Infuse. Their latest offering links nicely with an emby server and the interface is lightyears ahead of any other offering1 point

It's only implemented in the Mobile Android app, which you can sideload onto your 2019 Shield. See here.1 point

The version you are looking for is here - which you need to sideload. Its early days though. You might not get very far but you can experiment. Might work with MKVs of movies made with MakeMKV 1.15.2. Some Demo files might work. I haven't got very far, but its more idle curiouslty for me.1 point

Hey @Dr4v3n, I also experienced a similar problem when putting Emby Server on my Raspberry Pi. I'm not sure exactly what system you're using, but I think that the solution you provided might have to be performed every time your device power cycles. To avoid having to manually mount the drive every time you boot the device, you can create an entry on the fstab, here's an article that runs through that: https://www.tylerstechspot.com/portable-media-server#h.tdu7p386gq7o. Again, this is geared towards Raspberry Pi's and may not actually apply to your situation, but I thought this might help. Edit: Just noticed you mentioned Raspbian in your title so this will be important for you to add to your fstab otherwise you'll have to mount your drive every time you turn on the Pi.1 point

@@Vidman we aren't a large multi-national company with thousands of employees to monitor and maintain our media with enterprise level datacentres. we are singular people whom require a simple method of taking all content 'offline' while and when we work on our inferior systems. I have to say, your line of questioning seems mildly aggressive for little to no apparent reason... If I need an entire week to complete my maintenance, I expect my users to understand this or they can bugger off. After all, they're benefiting entirely for my hobby, right? Sure, Netflix aren't likely to do this - but quite frankly, that's an unfair comparison by all accounts.1 point
