Not sure how that would be possible. There's no way for emby to know the owner of shared folders, and forcing ownership to just emby would break the majority of users who actually know what they're doing permission-wise.2 points

Request No. 1: Implement Metascore rating for movies, from Metacritic.com, in Emby. OMDb api provides this information. Request No. 2: Also, fix an option in settings to enable or disable a ratings source according to the user's choice.1 point

it would be very nice, if there can be a possibility to get users the access to edit metadata and image so the user can manage a the libraries. I would like to use it as a "content manager"-user which is like a technical engineer caring about the media content and nothing else. btw. emby is very very nice, thanks for all of your work!1 point

Hi Using Kodi in conjunction with the Emby Trakt plugin and Up Next causes some hiccups. I only use one user for myself which is on my main RPi and desktop and also if I'm using my phone etc remotely. I want to keep this setup with the ability to continue watching on all devices. Would it be possible to add an option to exclude clients, in my case Kodi, from the Trakt plugin? That way I can scrobble with the Kodi plugin that shouldn't have this problem, but also keep scrobbling as usual with other devices and keep my library updated on Trakt. Thanks1 point

Hi Guys, I recently moved from Kodi with MySQL for lack of proper multi user management and server side support, I have to say I'm impressed with Emby. Together with the Kodi Plugin it really takes the solution to a whole new level, count me in among the supporters! One feature I would like to see is the ability to recommend movies or shows to other users: I share my Library with close friends and family but it is a big library so they are always calling me to recommend them a movie to watch. It would be really cool if after watching a movie I can click a Recommend button and choose the users I think would like the movie, then it is displayed on their suggested movies at the top with the name of the user who recommended it... Sorry if there is something like this is already there, I am new to the interface and don't fully know it but could not find such feature... Thanks!1 point

Google play version: 3.1.22 Android: 7.0 emby: 4.4.2 Since the latest update the app starts on itself randomly. I might not be doing anything, navigating in the phone or even have some other app open (game) and suddenly the app loads up. I have tried force stopping it and clearing the cache - no change. When the app starts up it just sits on the main screen. In the past 15 min it has done it 3-4 times.1 point

I have an issue with the Samsung app not playing the right audo on dual audio files.. Its selected as english as default, and can clearly see its set as english before playing the movie, but it doesnt actually play english.. and even when its playing, if you try and swap to other audo language and back etc.. it wont change to english.. This happens with all media files with dual audio This only happens on Samsun TV app, works fine on Android and PC Samsung Smart TV (UE48H6700) Emby Theater 0.122 Below is media info from file Media Info Video Title720p H264 CodecH264 AVCYes ProfileHigh Level41 Resolution1280x536 Aspect Ratio2.40:1 AnamorphicNo InterlacedNo Framerate23.976 Bitrate1,272 kbps Bit Depth8 bit Pixel Formatyuv420p Reference Frames1 NAL4 Audio TitleHindi AAC stereo LanguageHindi CodecAAC ProfileHE-AAC Layoutstereo Channels2 ch Bitrate192 kbps Sample Rate44,100 Hz DefaultNo Audio TitleEnglish AAC stereo (Default) LanguageEnglish CodecAAC ProfileHE-AAC Layoutstereo Channels2 ch Bitrate192 kbps Sample Rate22,050 Hz DefaultYes Subtitle TitleEnglish (Forced SUBRIP) LanguageEnglish CodecSUBRIP DefaultNo ForcedYes ExternalNo Containermkv Path###########################.mkv Size974MB1 point

The easiest way would be locally open the users.db in a SQLite viewer and look at the localusersv2 table. @RodneyWatters1 point

First of all, thanks for your interest in the issue. The issue in your video is 100% the problem I experience on my "low powered Android box". The specs on the android box where it occurs for me are below. Quad-core 1.5 GHz Amlogic S905D 2GB RAM To clarify as well, I find the issue is more frequent when I playback from widgets on home screen with aeon nox. I find the library playback is a bit more stable. But could be placebo. Now that you can replicate it will be curious to see if you can troubleshoot it a bit further than I could.1 point

This is starting to sound a lot like Nvidia re-introduced an old bug they fixed a while back with high-bitrate content...1 point

Thanks @cayars. Without seeing the details it very difficult to understand what is going on here but there is nothing in the Orbi documentation to suggest this is 'normal' and nothing to suggest wifi is on a different subnet out the box. If it were me - I would factory reset - if it still didn't work, then I'd put it back in the box and ask for a return/replacement .. as you said, you shouldn't have to fudge a new product to work.1 point

Thanks. I will look to this tonight. Also, since we will update the forum software soon and the Dark theme will not work on the new forum build, I will disable it tonight while I test for the above issue. Sure I will bring another dark theme for whom want that. Thanks for the reporting the issue guys, well done.1 point

Hmm - very strange and something which I think will lead to lots of frustration down the road when you start adding IoT devices and such like. Unless you have full control of a firewall on this device bridging these networks together, then I'm not sure of the point of it being honest. My network is setup with multiple VLAN's for LAN extended onto Wifi - but they are all still on rfc1918 addressing and routed to talk to each other via the firewall (bridge). Other than a guest type network where you need to keep wifi traffic off your lan, I'm not really sure why you would you want your home wifi on a different network to your home LAN. @cayars - Nice workaround, but the problem with tricking Emby into seeing the ISP range as local is now they will lose the ability to throttle WAN connections and all users will have WAN connectivity whether you like it or not ... If it were me, I think I'd be returning it for something more standard. If you really need the 'Mesh' aspect - then there are plenty of others out there, if you just need better wi-fi range, then just add AP's to your existing setup.1 point

+1 for this. My use case is different from yours but that would be a useful addition. I tend to fall asleep with a playlist of shows that I don't need scrobbling but would like to scrobble shows that I watch on other clients.1 point

That is my experience as well. Also I completely agree with storing bif files, nfo files and images alongside the video files. I fought that idea for years but, once I set it up, I quickly saw the advantages. For me the biggest advantage is not the avoidance of regeneration but rather it is that fact that support files only need to be generated once. I have multiple servers pointing at the same file structure and storing the support file with the media means that only one copy of all the support gets generated or used and only one server actually has to do the work of generating support files and then the other servers will use it. Also I do find that the creation of bif files is very fast now. When I add a movie the bif file shows up about as fast as the artwork and metadata shows up often faster.1 point

It's the Next Generation Live TV/DVR that's been mentioned a bit on the forums. It's a replacement for current Live TV that is in active development and testing.1 point

I took a quick look. There is no setting but his router is treating all WIFI as if it's on an isolated network. His router has a guest network but it's not being used. All outside IPs show up normally but all WIFI connections show up with the outside/WAN IP address. He gets a valid IP and from the server you can ping the client but all traffic flows through the router vs the switch. The workaround for Emby use was to add the ISP C block to the network section in Emby so it's treated as a local IP address. This is some type of BUG in the router code as this isn't normal.1 point

Not sure what the reason was specifically but I noticed a lot of duplicate numbers (one # per person who posted).1 point

Good day to all, I'm somewhat new to Emby (only been running it for a month or so) But from my (very brief) experience I've got to say "what a crock of shite" Ignoring that fact that Emby continually naggs me re: Emby Premier, I find I have to root around installing beta versions of an app to use my "brand new" 2020 Samsung tv. 1 month in and now I have to install the next beta, that by the way still won't connect to the server (Synology NAS) WTF Emby? I'll install the native PLEX software until Jellyfin becomes native. I'm all for supporting propriety software, but get your act together before asking for money for shite that doesn't work. (Don't blame the app developers) they are doing the best with what they have to work with. Going to develop software and ask for money? See it through to completion..1 point

Hi there, looks like you've downloaded our emby app to play your emby server content. But if you want emby server on the shield itself you will need to follow the instructions on our website: https://emby.media/download.html Emby server for Android is not on the Google play store at this time and must be side loaded.
