  1. Hi Guys, I recently moved from Kodi with MySQL for lack of proper multi user management and server side support, I have to say I'm impressed with Emby. Together with the Kodi Plugin it really takes the solution to a whole new level, count me in among the supporters! One feature I would like to see is the ability to recommend movies or shows to other users: I share my Library with close friends and family but it is a big library so they are always calling me to recommend them a movie to watch. It would be really cool if after watching a movie I can click a Recommend button and choose the users I think would like the movie, then it is displayed on their suggested movies at the top with the name of the user who recommended it... Sorry if there is something like this is already there, I am new to the interface and don't fully know it but could not find such feature... Thanks!

  2. Guys, The ebook side of Emby/MediaBrowser has been long stalled or rather stagnated. I would like to offer up a couple of suggestions. Many people use calibre as an ebook/comic book tool for scraping data and general management of their collection already. This program is absolutely astonishing in its ability to pull metadata from post calibre scans, as well as draw in metadata from the file source and/or directory structure. http://vaemendis.net/ubooquity/ Its a self contained .jar server/reader combination. And honestly I am very impressed by it's small footprint and wide range of abilities. The other option is COPS , which was written specifically with calibre in mind. It is open source, so making it work with emby I would think would be fairly easy. https://blog.slucas.fr/projects/calibre-opds-php-server/ Ever since the original release of MediaBrowser's bookshelf I have always wanted something that would allow me to 'read' my collection, rather than being basically nothing more than a place-set for images of books I own. I am sure that those who mainly have audiobooks are thrilled with bookshelf , but it's nothing more than an extension of the music library IMHO, not new features. We can have both right? Here I give you two suggestions free of charge.. Just because I love you, and Emby Personally I plan on running the Ubooquity Server along side of Emby from now on, just because of it's massive functionality and tiny footprint. But I sure hope that someone decides -- "yeah, ebook support should be in here too" and do something about it - rather than allow this now very very ancient issue to continue to remain an issue. And so I don't have to have 20 different ports open, some with SSL support - some not, because Emby isn't delivering the 'complete package'. (Please take some of this with humor, I know you have your hands full with improvements/bugs/suggestions/requests)

  3. Hello, is there a chance to get a Carplay Support for Emby? It would be wonderful if i can listen and switch between my Music and Audiobooks from the Car-Entertainment System. best regards maci2100

  4. I have chapter-split all of my audiobooks, but there is no album or folder-level Play/Resume button, meaning I have to select one chapter at a time to listen to my audiobooks in Emby, or else manually add each chapter to a playlist or some such. Please add playback controls for the album/folder instead of just each individual file in the Book content type.

  5. Hi, There is a chance to add alternative option to transcode audio from unsupported format like DTS to EAC3 instead of AC3 (to tizen emby app)?

  6. @Luke Sorry for the late reply. I tried it without the reverse proxy as suggested by @cayars. I set up the ssl in the network settings and then connected directly through the server ssl port rather than 443 when I was using the reverse proxy. That fixed the issue so I left the server in that configuration. It has been working great with no problems since so I removed the reverse proxy. I can give you more info on how I had it set up if that would help in any way?

  7. This is what I expected. Either forwarding is not working correctly or your router doesn't support loop back. Let's start by simplifying a couple of things and doing what Happy2Play mentioned. Your not using SSL so let get rid of 8920 forwarding. Let's do this the easy way by removing the port mapping plugin from Emby. You don't need this as you've manually forwarded port 8096. Remove the plugin, restart Emby. Then reset your router. After this retry the above test (right click on remote and open in new tab). Any progress?

  8. It shouldn't matter but it looks link you have upnp and manual port forwarding. If you disabled port mapping in Emby and then restarted Emby and your router do you see any difference? Dashboard-Network setting near the bottom.

  9. I don't believe there is much information about clients in general in the knowledge base as it's mostly focused on server features. This is something I'm starting to work on to expand (client side). I'll make sure to document this as well as to make sure there is a clear understanding of the different app stores and programs and how the purchase effects the app. IE Amazon purchase different than Google Play store app. Android Mobile different from Android TV. But that you can unlock all same app types from the same store if using the same account.

  10. What happens if you right click open (clicking on the remote address) in new tab your remote IP address? In other words load up the remote address while on your home lan? Does this work?

  11. I use ffmpeg but I've got a complex script that does a lot of different things for me like add a 2 channel AAC audio track as the default, remove subtitles and audio languages other than English (only language I use), etc.

  13. This will be resolved in the next update to the android mobile app. It will get into the Android TV app as well but it will take a little longer. There's a long list of video playback improvements that the mobile app currently has but the TV app does not yet: Once we're done with all of this with the mobile app, then we'll start porting the improvements into the TV app. Thanks.

  14. Are you saying it is only this file for this user or all files for this user? As without information about the Remote playback session it is really hard to say as you will not be able to reproduce it with local settings.

  15. To be honest, it's just 1 episode out of xxxxx so don't let you keep this from a good sleep. I'm just curious about the cause (Which can keep me from sleep). Because I'm outnumbered here I would like to say to you all: Sleep Well!!! Tnx for the support!!! cis

  16. Do you have SSL setup on your Emby Server? How did you do the forwarding for port 8096 and 8920 in your router? Can you take a picture? Feel free to cover any external IP.

  26. One of my setup was similar to yours. It was splitting HDMI and Toslink for audio. Though I'm not currently using this setup anymore I did do a few things to get it working. Here's what I remember... Try the following to see if it works for you. Do it one at a time and test emby for audio. Note: Make sure to CLOSE all your apps (emby, youtube, etc..) before changing these settings. Double press the circle button on your Shield remote and close all the apps. HDMI splitter with Shield tend to keep audio signal from an app alive if you don't fully close it. Do this everytime you try one of the settings below, or your changes may not take effect. Even though you have changed them. 1. Press the menu button on the shield remote > Device Preferences > Display and Sound > Advance Sound settings > Audio Output Default should be on "Auto", select "HDMI". Check and see if emby works. 2. Device Preferences > Display and Sound > Advance Sound settings > Dolby audio processing Default should be on and in most cases should leave it like that. But you can try turning it off to see if you get audio. 3. Device Preferences > Display and Sound > Advance Sound settings > Available formats Default should be on "Auto", Select "Manual" and select your compatible formats. Toslink should only be compatible with AC3 and DTS. Having these two settings "on" only is your best bet. Toslink can only do 5.1 channel and below. 6.0 and higher is not compatible. I know you are downmixing to 2.0 but you must set these settings correctly. 4. Most splitter is powered by a USB. Disconnect the power, then your hdmi and toslink. Reconnect your power, then hdmi, then toslink. This will reset any audio signal that may still be lingering from a previous open app which could cause issue when trying to play audio from another app. Check to see if emby works. 5. In Emby app, go to settings > Playback settings> Audio Output Set it to "Downmix to Stereo" From what I remember I had to restart the shield a few times for changes to really take affect. Having some settings on "Auto" did not work for me because the Shield sometimes would not detect the correct audio output signal from the splitter, therefore you have to manually set it to force the correct signal. I went through 3 splitters, each with different settings to make everything work. I don't believe the problem is with Emby or Shield but more with having a poor splitter.

  30. Nm, I can duplicate this now. mgworek is correct in his last post. If you remove all the people and the genre from an episode's metadata then you can't navigate to the series name when on the details page for that episode.

  32. It is because those "loading" screens are the internal Roku video player interstitial buffering screen and/or timeline scrubbing with BIF. Those screens presently use the internal Roku fonts. There is no way to customize just those fonts. I've even tried using low-level crude hacks to get custom fonts into that interface but cannot. We would need to design our own buffering screen w/timeline scrubbing with BIF. This has been discussed before because those native Roku interfaces provide no mechanism to support languages Roku doesn't intend to support. We support Russian in Cyrillic but that interstitial screen wll not. We apologize to the users this affects. It is on our roadmap and our issue tracker to eventually fix this issue. It is only during those brief moments you will see the issue. We will get there eventually.

  33. Something I just noticed. I had other episodes from shows work just fine when the subtitle was on the same line as the video & audio info. Those episodes had a director and/or a genre defined in the metadata. I added a genre to the iZombie episode that was having the problem and now the navigation works fine. I can move up and get to the show title and season.

  36. The Roku will get there with all those same options that are in the Android TV app. The challenge with Roku is the lack of any libraries you can repurpose. There is no javascript. There is no C. There is just brightscript. On top of brightscript is a rather cool XML scripting engine called scene graph. It uses similar extensions to programming video games. But there are limits. You are bound into the original interfaces Roku provides. Then using those you can extend them to provide more functionality. Then extend that interface again to provide even more. And stack upon these interfaces with components and build the bones of the application rather quickly. The XML provides access to the render thread. The brightscript runs in the render thread. So you can change what is within the XML using brightscript. Basically you extend again the component with brightscript. It makes it confusing at first because you have 3 levels of code. It is a lot like writing COBOL and you saw how those coders were recently in demand. To code on Roku you have to get your hands dirty. You have to be ready to fail 100x and "get it" on the 101st try. Nothing comes easy. But eventually you learn the quirks and can work around them. That is until the next firmware update. Then all is back to square one and you must chase bugs that may appear in the app because the firmware changed. It makes it fun because nothing easy is ever worth doing. You feel accomplished when things on Roku start to work as you imagined them. Then you go maybe this isn't as hard as every person says it is. But trust me. It isn't hard. It is difficult juggling because of all the inner dependencies and inner relationships on how they pass object references among themselves. It is juggling while balancing on a beam. At any time.. crash. But that is the fun of this. If you aren't having fun it isn't really worth doing unless you put your heart in it. Right? That is what we do.

  37. It's JQuery again. Guys we are moving away from JQuery. It isn't supported in the WebApp or dashboard. @mutu310 BlurN is a wonderful addition to the catalog and it is well received by the community. I hope that you will find the time to 86 the JQuery and refactor to VanillaJS. If there is anything I can do to help the migration, please let me know. It's easy enough, and if you are not entirely sure please see my github for some code examples for the JS, or PM me github.com/chefbennyj1

  40. Hi Alphard Not sure of your question but hope this answers it. Looking at the permissions of both the drive and folder I see the group bich as an owner so I added the emby account to the group. usermod -aG bich emby To verify emby is in the group members bich --> output info is bich emby
