  1. I don't think it is said enough as we all have our gripes/complaints when something is not right or does not work - but this really is a great product. I have been a mediabrowser / emby user for what seems like millions of years and the product today for me is near perfect. I was discussing with the kids/wife the other day and they said they have nothing they can think of that will make it any better. I sent out the same to the select few friends and family that access my system (securely via cloudflare and nginx) and they are also happy (except one but that is their connection stability). The latest series delete check is perfect, the green focus on the shield TV is something I didn't really know I needed until it was there. The unification of the clients is fantastic, and even though we only have 4 roku's left in the house (I have given some away), the addition of @speechles to the team has really made the Roku's shine. Very slowly my Roku's are being replaced by a name brand Android TV box (VodafoneTV here in Australia), which is the best bang/buck client here is Oz. I still carry a Roku 4k stick around with me when on holiday for system access from hotels etc - at least I used to do that before we are not allowed to leave anymore! We just don't have official Roku's here in Aus, so none of the other catch up TV apps can be installed so we lose out. My move to Unraid and the Emby docker container a few years ago has also introduced major stability not just to Emby, but to much of my IT solutions at home - It runs 24/7 and never has outages, completely automated - meaning I spend more time in front of the TV than fixing / managing issues. The only Emby thing I am waiting on is the channel sorting and deletion for the TV guide and I may well then consider leaving the beta server release as I cant for the life of me imagine anything else I need. Well done all.

  3. I just released beta.23 Changes - Fixed issue with installer #1301 - Fixed download log file error #1294 and #1300 - Fixed direct link to the movie on media server #1327 - Added extra columns to movie table (no filters yet) #1328 - Fixed some layout issues #1298 - Readded the shows to EmbyStat - Fixed null ref bug on mapping people Still not really satisfied by the way it looks (filters, graphs, ...) so any design ideas are still more then welcome. Was thinking about adding a nice backdrop on the pages instead of a gray background as well. Have fun testing!

  4. Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless

  5. Guys, The ebook side of Emby/MediaBrowser has been long stalled or rather stagnated. I would like to offer up a couple of suggestions. Many people use calibre as an ebook/comic book tool for scraping data and general management of their collection already. This program is absolutely astonishing in its ability to pull metadata from post calibre scans, as well as draw in metadata from the file source and/or directory structure. http://vaemendis.net/ubooquity/ Its a self contained .jar server/reader combination. And honestly I am very impressed by it's small footprint and wide range of abilities. The other option is COPS , which was written specifically with calibre in mind. It is open source, so making it work with emby I would think would be fairly easy. https://blog.slucas.fr/projects/calibre-opds-php-server/ Ever since the original release of MediaBrowser's bookshelf I have always wanted something that would allow me to 'read' my collection, rather than being basically nothing more than a place-set for images of books I own. I am sure that those who mainly have audiobooks are thrilled with bookshelf , but it's nothing more than an extension of the music library IMHO, not new features. We can have both right? Here I give you two suggestions free of charge.. Just because I love you, and Emby Personally I plan on running the Ubooquity Server along side of Emby from now on, just because of it's massive functionality and tiny footprint. But I sure hope that someone decides -- "yeah, ebook support should be in here too" and do something about it - rather than allow this now very very ancient issue to continue to remain an issue. And so I don't have to have 20 different ports open, some with SSL support - some not, because Emby isn't delivering the 'complete package'. (Please take some of this with humor, I know you have your hands full with improvements/bugs/suggestions/requests)

  6. Similar to this old post, I'm suggesting a tab that would be titled Watchlist and could be placed in between Suggestions and Favorites. The functionality would pretty much be a copy of Favorites, just with a + symbol added next to the heart and other symbols that let you favorite a movie etc. The previous post had mentioned extra functionality such as automatically removing a movie from Watchlist after it has been watched. This would be nice, but is unnecessary because after watching a movie you can simply click the + symbol a second time to remove it from Watchlist. I would imagine this would be very easy to implement as a rebranded copy of Favorites. Adding other features could come later. Edit: added link to old post

  7. Request: Add a visual seeking method with progress bar using thumbnails from chapter markers or the 10 second thumbnail generator (as defined by the users server options) for skipping. Now that the >> << are remapped to next and previous items in a list there is no way to conveniently skip chapters during playback. Exiting and going back to the details page to select the next chapter is inconvenient and so is clicking skip forward 50 times at 30 seconds a pop to get to where you want to be. The ATV chapter skipping and visual seeking methods are good examples of a way to advance/reverse on the progress bar using thumbnails . Click the UP key could bring up a slider where you can select chapter images and/or the newer bif images. Then you can use the left and right arrow to scroll through the images Currently the UP and DOWN keys are both mapped to bring up the OSD, so the UP should be free for other things like a chapter skipping slider

  8. Don't know how many of you know what PseudoTV is on Kodi but basically it is a plugin that allows you to create an EPG full of your own custom TV channels using your entire media library into one big channel surfing experience on your library. Emby, I believe, would be amazing for this and really make it stand out if something like this was official supported as the only support for something like this is a little plugin on Kodi. Features: Create custom TV channels using smart filters (e.g. 500 random movies that are from 2010 and newer and genre is Horror, 25 random tv episodes that are from Fox network). Allow creation of an unlimited number of channels using these filters and assign them channel numbers Automatically generate an EPG/TV Guide using all of these custom channels and randomly assign the scheduled program at a specific time Allow sorting of the channel shows (random, in order, asc, desc) Allow channels like FX to play both TV shows from FX but also incorporate movies at specific time periods like primetime movies Allow trailers to play in between shows as well as Channel Bumpers/intro videos Allow integration with Live TV using PVR Allow YouTube channels, USTVNOW, Playon perhaps? Ability to add a logo to your custom channels Background updating that would auto generate / update all the channels and shows after a specific period of time And so on

  9. Then, bluntly, don;t buy it. Problem solved. This is commercial software. They give a shocking amount of stuff away for free. Android TV is not on the list. Buy it or don't. I've said this before, but just the hard drives for my little hobby cost several thousand dollars. Complaining about a $5.00 unlock fee on a playback app is laughable after that investment. That's not even considering what I've paid for discs, drive enclosures, my time, electricity, etc.

  10. I've also made a single video file of a concert and manually created chapter markers for each song. This doesn't enable me to create a playlist, but it does enable fairly easy switching to a specific song. Paul

  15. What?? I added my Fellowship of the Ring audiobook to a playlist, and it alphabetized just fine. (see below.) I would hazard a guess that it is sorting alphanumerically by filename, and that your filenames do not include a track number.

  18. How intense is the CPU being hammered by the transcoding? It is being sent SIGKILL because of the load it is putting on the server. What settings do you have when transcoding? Are these left default or changed in any way? If this just happens when transcoding and it results in kill being sent the operating system is doing this. It isn't Emby killing the transcoding. Something is different about your transcoding settings or something. Something is different. Maybe the amount of RAM it eats up transcoding live TV becomes too large and that gets the SIGKILL sent? Maybe it is the CPU percentage used is too great for too long? It is hard to diagnose without Android logs. 2020-08-18 19:33:14.810 Info HttpServer: HTTP Response 200 to 192.168.213.21. 20. Request: add some information for the subtitle which is actually playing. Format of original, format of converted subtitle if converted, etc SFN shows 2/3 of the things that affect playback and the subtitle format information would be helpful in troubleshooting on the fly. When transcoding SFN can display something like transcoding because of unsupported subtitle format, but the format of the unsupported subtitle would also be helpful Also, it may be helpful if SFN could display if subtitle was streaming or burning in also

  23. Stupid name they gave the device. It's going to confuse a lot of people when talking about connections with the Arc, arc and eArc Also, I have the Sonos Beam (and PlayBar before that) and it also doesn't support DTS playback, but with my Shield attached to it, then the TV, DTS is remuxed to DD, which is confirmed by the Sonos app.

  28. You cannot add your own users to your server. They must sign up at the main company website. That way, they now have a direct link (and some degree of control) to every single user on the platform.

  29. Yup that the other option you must keep on as default so Emby can read buffers. Don't worry I'm Emby Team has plan to address this in the near future that so we don't have used 3rdparty software I'm sure it will be more direct device drive integrated solution like other DVR and I hope with better channel management.

  30. I would be nice if when you added a Live TV Source you could edit a descriptive and unique name instead of all M3U Tuners just showing as "M3U Tuner". Today when I was testing locast2plex would be nice if I could name that Source "locast2plex" rather than having it simply show as a HD Homerun. Would be nice if there was a way to mark a tuner as disabled rather than simply deleting it. I was testing the locast2plex today and wanted to get rid of my other tuners to insure I was watching the Locast streams and I had to go delete them and then of course later had to re-add then and redo my channel mappings. Sure would have saved me a bunch of time if there was a simple checkbox to just disable/enable a source. Regards,

  33. Looks like a service died or got locked within Emby somehow. I've restarted the server and it looks like Album Artists are now being picked up correctly EDIT: I may have spoke too soon, certainly MORE Album Artists have been spotted, but not all of them. Things may still be ongoing, I'll keep an eye on it. EDIT2: All good now, so unless someone wants to figure out what broke, case closed.

  36. Oh no, that's just the standard print out. I get the same when I play an HEVC video. Your GPU supports it in hybrid. I used to have one of those processors a long time ago. I don't recall any issues I had. You know what you could try, and it might smooth out the playback? Try a copy-mode. Try D3D copy back. But I do suggest replacing mpv with the version I gave you.

  39. Out of curiosity, instead of a screensaver, is it possible to dim the screen to 0% instead so it appears completely black?

  40. The above code does that. Same with using your css.txt div.dynamicRoutes h3:nth-child(9) {display: none;} /*Remove "Emby Web header" on User icon screen*/ But i think I see what is happening as it is tied to the Users "Allow this user to change their password and profile image" option so it changes the h3:nth-child value as it automatically adds/removes Password and Profile from User. So I guess you would use both to cover if you have the option enabled or disable. So 7 if disabled and 9 if enabled div.dynamicRoutes h3:nth-child(7) {display: none;} /*Remove "Emby Web header" on User icon screen*/ div.dynamicRoutes h3:nth-child(9) {display: none;} /*Remove "Emby Web header" on User icon screen*/

  42. I haven't read the whole thread but know the concept pretty well. I've got a "few" clients I could use to help test if needed including Web, Roku, Xbox, Chrome cast, Fire TV, Android TV on different devices, Android Mobile, Theater, Samsung, Kodi and probably something else I didn't think of. Hit me up if needed. There are other titles as well such as "Moderator" & "Support" <sniff, sniff> :), but there are others that are key to many things as well without any of those tags and if you didn't know better would never know if you didn't read specific sections of the forums. Wouldn't be a bad thing to have a "Team Emby" type thing for anyone involved as part of Emby or a different color (if possible) or something like that.

  43. I've had around 23 channels in use that I know of. This was done using Qty 3 HDHomeRun Prime units each with 3 tuners, 2 HDHomeRun Quatro's each with 4 tuners. Setting the Quatro's up in Next PVR allows you to watch/record more than 4 channels if there are multiple channels per mux you want. So I can pull ideally 9 channels off one Quatro in my market. I also had a couple of IPTV providers as well. This wasn't done on purpose as a test but was a Sunday during football/NFL season and I just got "lucky". I've never tried to find a max. My setup has 1 TB SSD for Window server use and it's temp files. I have a 1 TB SSD used to record to and I've got a smaller 256 GB "throw away" SSD I used for temp use for transcoding, converting and things like that. I don't worry about hammering this SSD as it's a sub $50 replacement or so when needed. The pixelation or "green flashes" you mention are usually caused by IO issues which the SSDs help tremendously with. So based on the fact you're getting this on occasion, I'd think you're close to the edge. A cheap "throw away" SSD should fix that right up. Keep in mind in DVR settings you can set a master recording directory or can set separate movie and TV show recording areas which I do also to different drives (SSD for me). I typically cut commercial and convert to H.265 for longer term storage and off the SSD they go.
