I am switching over from a Win7 box running MBC to Chromecast dongles. With the Win7 box I had a HDMI to Cat6 setup that allowed me to stream to up to 4 displays/TVs simultaneously. It was great while it lasted, but involved stapling cables to the ceiling to run it from room to room - plus it has borked Can there be an option to multi-cast to several receivers at once? i.e. simultaneously play to Chromecast dongles in my office and living room and kitchen simultaneously so i can walk from room to room without stopping and restarting the movie or show all the time? I realize that bandwidth could POTENTIALLY be an issue, but i have a fill gigabit network and a multi-port NAS so that really is the least of my worries... Thank you!2 points

I altered the server to not use the reverse proxy and connect directly using ssl and that fixed the issue, thanks!2 points

I don’t know if anyone is interested, or if you might already be doing this, but if anyone wants to cut commercials from recorded shows automatically and not have to use another program, such as MCEBuddy, there is a way to do the entire process on a Freenas box. Personally, I think this makes EmbyTV a killer DVR app. You can adapt it in many ways, but what I have below is what I use. It cuts commercials from over the air shows and converts the show to .mkv format for easy viewing. You can also add commands to move shows to other folders if you prefer. Caveat: this will not work for copy-once or copy never content (from many cable companies), since, as far as I know, you cannot cut commercials from those recordings. This guide is only very slightly adapted from the excellent work of bollar and a few others in the Freenas forum. The original thread outlining these steps for Plex users can be found here: http://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/plex-dvr-commercial-skipping-with-comskip.46081/ Start by installing dependencies. Go to the jail and open a shell session. You can do this in the Freenas GUI either by navigating to the jail and clicking on the shell/terminal icon on the bottom of the page, or by opening a shell session and using jexec 1 (if 1 is the number of your jail – find out with the jls command, which will give you the jail id of jid of your jails). For anyone using an iocage jail, use ---- iocage console <jailname>, then cd / (the latter to get to the primary root in the jail) Then install the following (this is the updated version): pkg update pkg install git argtable autoconf automake libtool ffmpeg Say "y" to all if you wish to install them. If interested, git is added to fetch comskip (later step and the heart of the process) and everything else is needed to either compile or help comskip work. Change pkg-config references to pkgconf and install pkgconf pkg set -o devel/pkg-config:devel/pkgconf pkg install -f devel/pkgconf Set the compiler to clang. Probably a totally unnecessary step, but clang did not work well with the initial instructions and gcc was used. Clang now seems to work fine; setting the environment to clang is just for safety in case you have changed to any other compiler. I believe clang is still the native compiler in freenas. setenv CC clang Get comskip and a version of Brett Sheleski's comcut that I modified -- the latter can be used as your post.sh file in Emby. And make post3.sh executable. You can also go to Brett Sheleski's github page to fetch his original comcut if you prefer. The command would be -- fetch https://raw.githubusercontent.com/BrettSheleski/comchap/master/comcut. If you go that route you will need to install bash since his script is written in bash (post3.sh is a pared down version of the original comcut using sh, so employing fewer dependencies). I'm not sure how well comcut will work as a post.sh file since it uses bash. if you want to use the original comcut you will likely need to create your own post.sh file (there are good examples in the thread and in the original thread from the Freenas forum), most which use handbrake for video conversion (you can add handbrake with pkg install handbrake). The original comcut does not include a command to convert .ts files to .mkv or .mp4, but most of the post.sh examples you will see do. These post.sh files are simply another step that calls comcut just as comcut calls comskip to do the work. I use ffmpeg to do the video conversion since handbrake is mostly just a gui wrapper around ffmpeg -- that is what is in post3.sh (the script is in another post near the end of the thread). /usr/local/bin/git clone https://github.com/erikkaashoek/Comskip fetch https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pawhite/Commercialcut/master/post3.sh chmod +x /post3.sh Then, compile comskip, which is in the Comskip folder that you just downloaded. cd /Comskip ./autogen.sh ./configure make install Last, fetch a copy of comskip.ini to help comskip do its job. fetch https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pawhite/Commercialcut/master/comskip.ini And that is all you need. This sequence of steps will put all dependencies in their proper place to work with post3.sh. You then simply add post3.sh to the dvr post-processing section in Emby, and you can then cut commercials, convert the file to .mkv, and remove the original .ts file (so that you do not end up with two copies of the same program).1 point

IS there anyway we could see a realtime dashboard similar to Plex where when things get updated, you dont need to refresh the website? Maybe some kind of Ajax? Also in the Dashboard is there anyway of showing number of users like a badge so we know how many users are using Emby along with what they are watching etc. Right now it is a laborious process of going to activity to check.1 point

Hi! I come from Plex, and I miss one option in the library... "Empty trash automatically after every scan". If in one moment I have a hard drive "offline" when I scan, in Emby, I lost all the library metadata, and when I connect again the disk I have to scan all the content again. In plex, if there's something offline, whit that option the library doesn't remove nothing, and when I connect de hdd, no need to reescan and download all metadata.1 point

The thing I don’t like about duplication is that it doubles your storage costs! You need 200TB to store 100TB. It’s perspective.1 point

Mine worked on Amazon FireTV for about 6 months without having to pay. Not sure if it was because I paid for premium for a month when I started using it. I paid the $5 to unlock and now it's working again. I'd rather stick with emby than move back to Plex and I can't complain about the price.1 point

pwhodges: I’m not a Subtitle expert! If it’s more than an SRT, I’m lost; however with your comments, I found a “TG3X” subtitle track with Handbrake. I selected it, “Burned In”, and changed the format of the video. It worked! Thank you! (Oxford -- phenomenal!)1 point

@ebr (some reason cant quote you on mobile): my old folks used the free version, i do not have any issues on my devices. you keep saying its in the matrix but that matrix has been updated. The fact multiple users here have said they’ve used the app for multiple years for free without any hassle just confirms it. Again the way you are communicating is just poorly done. Just acknowledge to the users here you’ve decided to steer the ship a different path makes it easier for them to move onto other apps from different developers. Unless you’re willing to revert back to how it used to be a week ago. its pity actually having to explain this.. good luck with this new move and I hope ya’ll dont touch the life time subscription features.1 point

It follows your Amazon account. So, on the other sticks you just need to do the "Restore Unlock".1 point

Something like this, data-id may need translated. You can verify by right click and inspect on that button. div.actionSheetScroller.emby-scroller.scrollY [data-id="quality"] {display: none;}1 point

I will probably be away from this for a couple of days for personal reasons but will come back if I haven't fixed it. I did delete all .nfo files and rescan library and refresh metadata. Still lots of Alan Parsons Artists on lots of non-Alan Parsons albums, whereas Plex shows only the one and the single album.1 point

Although I have videos sorted out pretty well so they're listed properly in Emby, I have a lot of music files created from analog records and tapes. These files contain no metadata and filenames are frequently just "track01.mp3, track02.mp3" etc. It really is not feasible to go through all of these mp3 files to add metadata and rename the files as song names. So as it stands now Emby is nearly useless for accessing my digitized music collection. It would be really handy to have a library option that basically says, "ignore metadata, just display the files and directories as they are laid out on the disk."1 point

Yes correct, plus will be nice to see like a badge of how many users are online. The things I love about Emby is the almost instantaneous playback and fast towards and their library management. Leaves Plex in the dust. ALl my friends have said what a fantastic experience Emby has been. To me they need to have a good admin panel which they lack sorely. This is one area where Plex shines as you can easily see everything in one screen and a quick glance tells me how many are watching with the number at the top. Very handy. I mean this: https://lnkk.me/rRu7o18q and the stats. https://lnkk.me/E0unrgDz1 point

That message is coming from the store process and usually means that you already own the item. Try the restore purchase button and then re-starting the app.1 point

Thanks for testing the app! If you want you can always buy me a coffee here: https://ko-fi.com/embystat @mgworek, some other people also mentioned your problem on GitHub. If you are familiar with Docker you can use the following container to test the fix to your 2 problems (white screen and logs download) docker run -v <local-data-path>:C:\app\data -p <port>:6555 -e EMBYSTAT_LOGLEVEL=1 uping/embystat:nightly Log download bug: https://github.com/mregni/EmbyStat/issues/1294 White loading screen bug: https://github.com/mregni/EmbyStat/issues/1295 I did not get a reply back for the white loading screen so would be a big help if you could test that one.1 point

Yes, I'm sure it is. I already watched a few last night and it was really fun. Most of these are very old out of print hard to find movies so to me it's kind of special.....but....between DVDs and Blu-Rays I have close to a thousand discs so it's gonna take some time....LOL1 point

Doing the delete and rescan gets me just what I wanted. Thanks, @Happy2Play!! Really appreciate the help. I feel stupid -- I should have thought of that myself.1 point

You can also now try the current beta which should have an unlock option on the user menu (if appropriate).1 point

I am having a problem with Movies > General. It starts to load and then I get a white screen. Graphs and Tables work ok. Fresh install. Also I get "Unhandled Backend Exception" when trying to do anything with the logs. Manually grabbed them. Looking good so far. 2020-08-14.log1 point

+1 for synced playback This feature is now available in Jellyfin too called SyncPlay. Seems this is becoming a built in feature of most competing home streaming platforms. The technology must have come a long way since 2015 https://jellyfin.org/posts/jellyfin-10-6-0/1 point

Okay, so there must be something unusual about your environment. For instance, have you disabled all other users? Or only have one user? Even so, it should show the login screen but that would at least give me a starting point for looking at why it isn't.1 point
