The only way is to download the apk - until Google pull their finger out anyway.3 points

It would be great to be able to configure channel groups in LiveTV, which can be selected in the guide view (maybe as tabs) so that we can more quickly navigate to preferred channels using the d-pad. Perhaps start with Favorites by default, but be able to add custom groups (similar to collections) which we can add channels to (Network, Premium, Basic Cable, Kids, News etc.).2 points

No absolutely not. What's being asked for here is REAL-TIME monitoring of key metrics, not what happened in the past which is what the stats server shows. We want to be able to quickly look at one screen and know there are 6 devices streaming (1 a transcode) and 3 of those are watching live TV. That 2 of the devices are local while 4 are remote using 22 mbps of your 25 mbps bandwidth. That there are 2 DVR recordings in progress and one download/sync job in the queue. Meanwhile the CPU(s) is at 22% usage while the GPU is 80% used. Basically overall key metrics of what's going on at that exact moment in time.2 points

I did this 90 days ago and forgot how I got it to work.. I'm using openssl to convert my cert to pfx and it does, just fine: (openssl pkcs12 -export -out certificate.pfx -inkey private.key -in certificate.crt) But it's not working for some reason. The last time I did this I can tell it generated a new 'private.key' file along with the pfx. This time with the above command it's only generating the .pfx file. Is this the issue? What can I do different? Got it fixed--I used the Namecheap converter instead of openssl and it worked! https://decoder.link/converter2 points

I would like the ability to adjust the playback speed of my videos and recordings. YouTube.com does this and i think it is a very convenient feature to have.1 point

I am switching over from a Win7 box running MBC to Chromecast dongles. With the Win7 box I had a HDMI to Cat6 setup that allowed me to stream to up to 4 displays/TVs simultaneously. It was great while it lasted, but involved stapling cables to the ceiling to run it from room to room - plus it has borked Can there be an option to multi-cast to several receivers at once? i.e. simultaneously play to Chromecast dongles in my office and living room and kitchen simultaneously so i can walk from room to room without stopping and restarting the movie or show all the time? I realize that bandwidth could POTENTIALLY be an issue, but i have a fill gigabit network and a multi-port NAS so that really is the least of my worries... Thank you!1 point

I would love the ability to increase the size of subtitles on the different platforms, specially android, chrome and roku... One additional thing that would be great would be the ability to change font color, outline, drop shadow, font background... Thank you1 point

It would be nice if MBS could incorporate a Commercials.XML file generated from Comskip or ShowAnalyzer and use this to automatically skip over commercials in the web client. Ideally, I'd like to see this work like DVRMSToolbox's DTBAddin. You would have a setting in LiveTV for commercials location. During a media scan, it would match the .XML file name to a recorded TV file and generate the appropriate commercial markers based in the commercials files. When streaming from the web client, it would use this data to automatically bypass the commercials, but allow the user to go back if section was marked incorrectly. Option 1: Translate the commercials file into the chapter/scene markers. Users could manually skip to the next scene. Option 2: Make special commercial markers and automatically skip like DTBAddin Maybe this could expand later where you could have MBS scan files as well.1 point

Hello. Would be great to be able to adjust subitiles delay in Emby Theatre or Web client like we can in VLC with "H" and "J" shortcuts (up and down). Thanks !1 point

Add the ability to start a show late, end a show early. ie: Late Night Talk Shows. I'm only interested in the interviews. Don't record the monologue (start :15 minutes late) nor the musical guest (end :15 minutes early) These shows are intentionally scheduled to start and stop at "the 07s". Having this new ability would eliminate some overlap errors with traditional start and stop times at "the 00s". Kevin1 point

Permission issues are one of the biggest issues we troubleshoot in this section. Thankfully, with the release of FreeNAS 11.3 they've implemented a new featured called the ACL Manager. With this new feature, configuring permissions for your jails has never been easier! I've done up a quick how-to guide and attached. This is only for new jails created in 11.3. Anybody upgrading from an older version of FreeNAS that already has Emby installed will not need to follow this guide as they'd have already configured permissions under the old system. Emby File Permission Setup FreeNAS 11.3.pdf NOTE: To access the ACL in TrueNAS 12.0+ the location has changed slightly. You must go to Storage -> Pools, click the 3 dots beside your pool, select Edit Permissions. This will put you into the ACL Manager. All other steps are the same. I no longer use TrueNAS so I don't have screenshots, but anybody is free to update this document and provide screen shots if needed.1 point

Personally my only reason to still use Kodi with the Emby plugin and not the Emby App is the lack of the ability to select "download subtitle" during playback. This is a killer feature in Kodi, and I hope you guys can consider bringing it to Emby, I do have my Admin area set to automatically download subtitles, but many times (even so I have the option to only download exact matches) the subtitle is not the right one to the video file version, and the ability to just download a new subtitle on the fly is very welcome. Hope you guys can consider this Null1 point

IS there anyway we could see a realtime dashboard similar to Plex where when things get updated, you dont need to refresh the website? Maybe some kind of Ajax? Also in the Dashboard is there anyway of showing number of users like a badge so we know how many users are using Emby along with what they are watching etc. Right now it is a laborious process of going to activity to check.1 point
-
To me this type of thing is the very nature of a "Dashboard" view. Quick to look at info that makes it easy to see what's going on. If you need more detailed info you can then visit the appropriate spot in Emby. I so dislike having to go look at several tuners to see if there is any activity then look at our current dashboard to see what user is playing TV, to then figure out if that accounts for all tuners in use.1 point
-
I disagree with you totally. The whole point is ease of use and its just cumbersome to click here go there. The current Admin dashboard needs an overhaul. Its archaic at best. Realtime stats is important so we know how its all going.1 point

@rbjtech @cayars, I'm happy with that plan. Thanks for offering, I'm happy to review before publishing1 point

rbjech I don't personally have an LG (anymore - stolen) so I have ZERO testing experience with this which makes documentation a wee bit hard for me. You're a wealth of knowledge on many things Emby so if you want to write up something/anything that can contribute to the knowledge base please do!!! Topic doesn't matter! Normally if it's a client I don't use or part of the system I'm not confident in, I'd pass it by the appropriate dev for feedback (article wise). But since you tagged both me and a dev this is pretty easy. Write up anything you want to contribute to the KB and PM me and @SamES the info. This way Sam can make the call if he'd like to have anything changed before we publish it. I'll take care of all formatting and web stuff so a simple notepad text if fine, or what ever you want to contribute. But yea, we would love to have more info for any KB articles on any topic so feel free to PM me any time!!!!1 point

All STREAMING platforms - Netflix, AppleTV etc are just using DD+ with Atmos - ie compressed sound. This works fine (as it does with Emby) as it passes over the usual ARC channel - but HD Sound formats (TrueHD with Atmos and DTS-HD:X etc) do not as the LG HARDWARE cannot process these streams. It is 100% an LG issue I'm afraid. The only option for HD Sound is an external player (such as the Shield Pro) or simply select the AC3 channel before you play the video (or DTS stream if your LG is older than 2020). @cayars @SamES - As this question/answer is very frequent on the LG client section, is it worth adding as a sticky ? I'm happy to draft something.1 point

Hi, these two are per-app settings because you may want them to be different on different devices.1 point

I can get them elsewhere but there is a package deal I get with my main and a few channels that the main doesn’t have the second one fills in for only a few dollars more per month. When they fix the purge timing (I haven’t checked if it’s fixed yet) I will be all set but it isn’t a huge deal if you know how to setup automatic clean ups through command line and task scheduler it’s maintenance free. I was just looking for a smooth resolution so nobody else will have to go through trying to figure out where their storage is filling up.1 point

Tapatalk was installed with the new forum software but introduced a security whole. If when it gets fixed it can be looked at again by the forum admins, but for now it's a firm OFF/UNINSTALLED.1 point

I hope so too. I'm talking about the actual Shield TV I ordered, not the labels, don't want anything wrong with that when / if it arrives...1 point

You'd be correct there. Even the fastest computer on earth can't write to a 12tb spinner at more than a couple hundred megs a second. That adds up to some serious waiting. Like many here I'm sure, I use the DrivePool / Snapraid combo and it's great. It's saved lots and lots of data for me time and again, but if I ever have the money, or if there's a serious breakthrough in storage technology, I'll be building a server with so much storage that I can just use DrivePool to keep 3 or 4 copies of everything. That way if I lose a drive, I just replace it and walk away. Omg that sounds like so much fun, so much better than waiting on a 48hr+ rebuild. Someday.1 point

Correct. I used Button Mapper to reprogram that bottom button and bought the labels from that guy on Reddit. They are very good quality labels btw How mine is programmed: Single Click starts Emby Double Click starts Disney+ You can also program long press, but I don't have that set yet to anything yet1 point
-
There's a guy on Reddit who is making the labels for various platforms including Emby. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfeWmXUKUlX62bkHzyxq5AlPsUc1Lw9hmt_r0BcYyjJlXyEFg/viewform Then you'd use the Button Mapper app to re-map the Netflix button to launch Emby instead1 point

Many thanks for your capable assistance in resolving the issue, Happy2Play. The source of the problem was the user, not the app. Nothing new about that... Much appreciated!1 point

Tapatalk was a lovely idea at first, but now many forums have responsive themes that make it unnecessary. A forum I'm admin of still has it (and I know a couple of users swear by it), but their push towards commercialisation got quite irritating (as an admin getting their messages) until I manged to turn them off. I presume it was not so much removed here as simply not added back into the new software. Paul1 point

Insanely simple: 1) On the old server create a complete backup of /var/lib/emby (e.g. tar -cvf /root/old-emby.tar /var/lib/emby/ -R) 2) Download and install emby on the new server 3) Stop emby on the new server (service emby-server stop) 4) Delete EVERYTHING in the /var/lib/emby folder on the new server 5) Copy the backup file from the old server to the new server 6) Untar (unpack) the backup file into /var/lib/emby on the new server 7) Start emby on the new server (service emby-server start) Done!1 point

I'm sure the Emby team already HAS a defined feature list with target dates. What you want is for them to tell you and almost no companies do that. 25 years in this industry and I've never worked at a company that does that. If I told you the exact list of features my employer was working on or planned release dates I would be looking for a new job.1 point

Hi. Each user can already choose which sections to show on the home screen and in what order.1 point

You're right, I don't think you can do negative, so yes it's something that can be looked at in the future. thanks.1 point
