  1. @cayars: Great idea! @Luke: I would like to support the idea of cayars. It would be of great help to understand better which metadata are handled in which way by Emby Server. As you may remember I started a thread on IDtags some weeks ago ( ) - cayars effort to document the way Emby handles metadata might be helpful not only for ratings but also other metadata like - in my case - album artist (multiple entries). Have a nice weekend.

  3. Request that Emby server store Dolby Vision (including profile), Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, HDR10+ (smpte2094) and HLG for appropriate video in the db and use it for display in the media info and track selection sections of movie/episode details screen. This information once in the db can then also be used in numerous other areas like: Mediainfo Cover Art, Stats for Nerds, Distinguishing different DV profiles for hardware support and tone mapping Example Mediainfo app display of HDR10+ ffmpeg patch for HDR10+ https://patchwork.ffmpeg.org/patch/11491/ Related requested that may require DV profile information in order to prevent unneeded TM

  4. Don't know how many of you know what PseudoTV is on Kodi but basically it is a plugin that allows you to create an EPG full of your own custom TV channels using your entire media library into one big channel surfing experience on your library. Emby, I believe, would be amazing for this and really make it stand out if something like this was official supported as the only support for something like this is a little plugin on Kodi. Features: Create custom TV channels using smart filters (e.g. 500 random movies that are from 2010 and newer and genre is Horror, 25 random tv episodes that are from Fox network). Allow creation of an unlimited number of channels using these filters and assign them channel numbers Automatically generate an EPG/TV Guide using all of these custom channels and randomly assign the scheduled program at a specific time Allow sorting of the channel shows (random, in order, asc, desc) Allow channels like FX to play both TV shows from FX but also incorporate movies at specific time periods like primetime movies Allow trailers to play in between shows as well as Channel Bumpers/intro videos Allow integration with Live TV using PVR Allow YouTube channels, USTVNOW, Playon perhaps? Ability to add a logo to your custom channels Background updating that would auto generate / update all the channels and shows after a specific period of time And so on

  5. Depends on if the playing app reports it as being something that can be controlled.

  7. Hi there yes it was specific channels and I looked into everything, now I have fixed the problem it was not Emby at all, it was my signal we had a old aerial witch does not support HD/UHD so I went out and bought a good indoor aerial https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9173471 now it’s all working fine great picture, love Emby lol

  8. Runtime is mysteriously and noticeably absent. Usually a culprit of the item still copying over as Emby "noticed and ingested it". Aspect ratio on some are curious but that shouldn't throw the Roku until it attempts to play them. I bet it is the runtime in some form expected to exist. I can find the cause of that part. Hopefully that is all this is. Thank you for taking the time to give us clues to give us better direction. We will do our best to prevent this in the future. We will have something soon. Until then you can run a "REFRESH" on that item on the items detail page within the Roku app. That will give it a runtime. You may not even be able to get to that point because before you get there it crashes. In that case you will need us to prevent the crash so you can get to that refresh button and click it. This is the expected work flow. You will be able to do this again soon. Also.. Items without runtimes will ALWAYS TRANSCODE because they are seen as live streams with missing runtime on the Roku. It will transcode to produce a seekable stream in this case. Once you refresh and gain a runtime it will properly use capabilities detected on the Roku.

  9. Is it the runtime? I can start to deduce where it is and start to build a defense against that part. I assume runtime is going to be a major issue when missing. @theflyingfool When you experience the issue again please give us the "Media Info" section of the web app. This is at the bottom of that items detail page. Because we have not fixed the issue and can only guess at the cause it can/will happen again. Please if you can help us identify the problem. Thanks and apologies for the issue. We expect certain data to always return from the server. That is our mistake and we can correct it. We just need to see where the mistakes are being made. Thanks again.

  10. If your files are mkv you can change just the headers (no need to remux) to reflect whatever you want using mkvtoolnix., then just refresh that movie. Takes maybe 30 seconds per movie Emby will still add the language, but everything after that is whatever you wish it to be

  11. Go to libraries -> Advanced and set "Prefer embedded titles" under "Embedded track title display". I think that should help.

  12. Either that or simply enlarge the fonts/scale from the mobile settings, some of them have zoom on the fly as well. As I said in my last post, if I apply that, then it will be global for everyone, not per user profile. For that I reject the idea. I know whom used to use Tapatalk have issue or things do not work as they wish, I really tried hard regarding Tapatalk, but when it come to security, no second thought of removing what case it.

  14. And that's why Emby is great because you focus on the heart of what all users need which is their personal media they want to share with family and friends. When I said "Podcasts could make for a really nice plugin, I actually meant a plugin a 3rd party could do. Someone who has used multiple different clients, knows how to program and could bring a level of customization and personalization to it that would allow users, not admins to search out and add podcasts. But there are already many really good podcast software that's available, so does it really need to be in Emby? It becomes a question of "many things under one roof" or "use the best tool for the job". For me personally, I know podcasts are "external" so I have no issue loading and testing different podcast software to find one I like to use the internet podcasts. At the same time I've got family members who can't find the "return key" if I say that to them. So if I could provide podcasts on cooking, making wine, mead, beer, auto repair, etc as part of my Emby experience they would likely get watched/listed to by family members via Emby. But if they have enough interest in these or other topics then Youtube usually has you covered before even thinking of podcasts in this day and age. Podcasts are nice for those who like them and great for listing to on the train, bus or car ride to work or even while working as they are mainly audio, not video based. So it's personal of course, but I'd love to see a nice podcast plugin, but from a 3rd party so the core Emby team doesn't spend time on it that they could spend their time on the core features of Emby that everyone uses. Love to have it, just not from the core team. Yep I'm wishy, washy on this topic, sue me

  15. @Luke any chance you could look through the code and PM me a list of tags the Emby Server reads from music files so I could document them in the knowledge base? This would be very good information to have and would take some of the guesswork out of trying to import music libs with existing tags that cause conflicts.

  16. I think all of this needs doing. I guess it would also then be possible to filter for Atmos, Vision, etc.

  22. No, but I personally don't like any of the Plex apps, compared to Emby. If I knew nothing about Emby, I would probably be using Kodi. And yet most people here seem to be. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

  23. You said to look at the Plex ATV app, so I posted comparisons. As you can see, the Emby ATV app is inordinately better looking than the Plex version. Yes there could be some tweaks made to the Emby ATV app to line stuff up, but it's only minor. And as an aside, the Emby ATV app is still far superior to the Emby mobile app running on an Android TV device (Shield).

  24. Which competitors? The Plex ATV app is horrid and nowhere near as nice as the Emby ATV app and don't even get me started on the JellyFin one I wouldn't class Kodi as a competitor, as the Kodi/Emby users are relying on the Emby backend, so they can do what they like with their skins. The actual Kodi setup is far too complex and there's too much tinkering that's possible. Yes some skins looks good, but overall, the Emby ATV app is a happy medium. Can it be improved, of course, but it has evolved a helluva lot over the last 7 years.

  25. No thanks. As @ebr said 'tries to emphasize the backdrop because this is displayed on your 65" TV. That layout was designed fairly recently with the feedback of many Emby users at the time.' The new layout is better. You've probably just come from a display full of posters so why show it again when you can have a logo and see more of the backdrop. As I've bored everyone with previously, I've moved a lot of stuff out of the way on the browser to see more of the background as well. @Dlarge still don't agree with the 'background with the fanart is too visible' if you mean on the movie details page, such as the image above with the margins shown. It is too much with the movie posters (eg first image post#68) but then you just disable that background. You also mentioned 'restless' ? At least for the movie details image, I think thats because a lot of people want a lot of info on the details page at first glance without having to scroll down. Sorry, not trying to be contrary, but just saying I like what I see, but it could probably do with some tinkering round the edges as has been mentioned.

  26. Yes that correct, we can't fix it. Thanks for the correction. Tapatalk as I said before reply to my report that they did not find the issue on their test forum for IPS. When we install build 1.6.5 of Tapatalk and it been reported 2 issues, and they confirm the issues and they said an update will come but no ETA when. I was checking on them then they release build 1.6.6, I update it, and I ask for who reported to confirm if they fix it. Big thanks to @cayars for report the issue and the issue simply was: Guest group can write a reply, I look and find out the plugin change the permissions for that group to fully read/write/download/upload when it only have a read permission. We fix the permissions and clean the forum from the guest post, disable the plugin in, then when I find Tapatalk support can not confirm the report, I remove the the plugin. I will not install that back.

  27. Alright, might be time to do a manual install. This should get you there although it's not an officially supported install method. Be sure to change your JAILIP/MASK and Gateway. It should look something like this ip4_addr="vnet0|192.168.1.100/24" defaultrouter="192.168.1.1" Going by memory too I believe samba48 has been replaced by samba410 so if you get an error on that one try samba410 iocage create -n "emby" 11.3-RELEASE ip4_addr="vnet0|<JAILIP>/<MASK>" defaultrouter="<GATEWAY>" vnet="on" allow_raw_sockets="1" boot="on" iocage console emby pkg install mono libass fontconfig freetype2 fribidi gnutls iconv opus samba48 sqlite3 libtheora libva libvpx libvorbis webp libx264 x265 dav1d libzvbi libraw ImageMagick6 pkg add -f https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.4.3.0/emby-server-freebsd11_4.4.3.0_amd64.txz sysrc emby_server_enable="YES" service emby-server start
