  1. I had enough with these worthless spammers users, done.

  2. Yeah, using excrement to describe the present condition of the application isn't accurate. I would guess it was jealousy or perhaps anger that your suggestions weren't taken seriously. You have to realize we are all human. When you make something and others tear it to pieces it doesn't make you feel grand. Remember that we are all people and that when others equate your work as $hit it hurts. You catch more bees with honey than manure. Try to point out what you do like then work in the parts you don't. Don't just rip on the parts you hate. It makes you look petty. It makes you look like a bully. It makes you look mean.

  4. Has nothing to do with Devs being lazy. The Devs around here are anything but lazy! Getting "hammered on" is a matter of users and what OS they use. There are far more Windows users then likely all other platforms combined so of course it will get the most use and "testing" from the population. NET development is well, a MS development platform by and large and the tools running on Windows are going to be the easiest to use. I guess you can blame MS for making development and ease of use of the OS a bad thing. LOL

  5. I kind of have the feeling that it for the most part works as designed but maybe not how users want it to work which are two different things. From a current design standpoint it seems like it tries to use the lowest bitrate it thinks will work. GPU vs CPU process differently and size will often be different. What I think users want/expect is for auto to choose the highest quality it can that fits any limits imposed (server global or user max) as well as available bandwidth the client has. Ideally you would have a new setting for each user. There would be the standard Max bitrate we have now that determines the max allowed direct play or direct stream (no transcoding) bitrate, but also a new Transcoding Target Bitrate. So if the file can't be direct played the client would ask for the largest size that makes sense and the server could limit it back down with the new transcoding target setting. Edit: So you could allow 12mbps for direct stream or play to avoid transcoding but if transcoded use a max of 8 mbps. That would likely give far more control to the admin as well as make the client AUTO function more like how people think it should work.

  6. I don't think it's so much about the info on the pages but subtle things like not aligning if you put a grid over it like with the red borders which show how some things are too far right or things that should be flush left or flush right aren't. Think "snap to grid". That and if you saved the position of things on one page in movies but then went to TV Shows it's different yet, then music is yet again different. It's not consistent in position when it can be for different parts of the clients. Obviously different parts of the system have different needs but some things should be the same but aren't. That's my interpretation of what was said.

  7. Here's an idea of what is coming in the update version of the plugin Changelog - changed all calls from NEWA API to NextPVR v5 JSON - add season, episode where allowed - configurable recurring recording defaults - configure Sports, News, Movie, Live and Kids category (from MediaPortal plugin) - flag Live sports - flag Premiere (Season and Series) - cosmetics changed NextPvr and Next Pvr to NextPVR throughout - fixed some bugs and no doubt added some. - use recorded dates as created dates for improved date ordering - add original air date, and production year - recording updates based on backend changes no need to scan internet folder - don't flag images for Programs NextPVR doesn't support this. - cache allRecordings call from backend - identify radio channels and programs. Here is a YouTube video https://youtu.be/917nMnvTRxk connecting to my v5 docker installation. There are some times where it seems sluggish, I was running a debug version with some break points. If you notice any strange things in the video please let me know. Not being an Emby user makes it difficult for me to compare and there was not much help from Emby devs getting to this point. Edit: Please note that this addon is no longer in development and the project has been ended. See this post for some installation details https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/74439-nextpvr-v5-emby-plugin/&do=findComment&comment=754853 Martin

  8. The Pro, especially if your 4K movies are mostly remuxes . You probably read this thread about the tube being only 32-bit with less memory and has some issues streaming high bitrate 4K movies. How are you hooking the Shield to your TV? I have a similar setup, but with a soundbar between my TV and the Shield. Otherwise you will need to transcode or convert your HD audio to something the Samsung TV supports. My setup Shield Pro (HDMI 1) / XB1X (HDMI 2) --> Samsung Q90 Soundbar (ARC) --> Samsung Qled TV I've never experienced a problem playing 4K remuxes with HD audio with the Pro

  10. We're going to be revamping our streaming from m3u sources in the near future to not use ffmpeg (when possible), so this should be a moot point at that time.

  12. By logging into the adavis account from a Windows PC in a browser it does not show LiveTV as an option in the home screen. In an iOS or tvOS device it does.

  16. At that price point you're better off with a Threadripper or save some money and get a Ryzen 3700x or 3900x.

  17. You made a comment about the green overlays used on the posters themselves and how they look different depending on where you are in the app. On this page the size and position look good IMHO. I personally agree it shouldn't be green as it clashes with the different themes that can be used. Emby of course lets you choose from many different themes as well as adjust the size of your posters (small, medium, large) which is nice as well. The green is "Emby Green" but maybe it's time to not worry about that as much as matching the color used on the theme itself. It doesn't look bad at all on the default or dark theme but looks out of place on the blue themes for example. This has been mentioned many times in different threads but I personally don't like the consistency of how TV Shows use the green circle with a number to indicate number of episodes unwatched while in movies the green dot with a check mark means it has been watched. The green dot means the opposite depending on the part of the system in use. I think it would be better to use the circle with a 1 in it for movies to show 1 movie not watched. This would work the same for collections and playlists so you see how many videos in the collection/playlist haven't been watched just as you do in TV Shows. The count could also be used to show how many versions of the movie are unwatched but should be an option. A normal version, 3D, 4K, commentary and unrated version could show as 1 or 5 depending on setting. This way even if you've watched Top Gun previously but added a 4K version or a 3D version it would show a number to indicate one or more of the movies haven't been watched. In the movie section the dot could be without a number as well to mean unwatched just as in TV which would be the easiest thing. This could also be of use to filter for 3D films and see which actual 3D films haven't been watched even if the non 3D version has been watched. None of these things are anything major at all but give the user a more consistent look, feel & functionality that is part of a good design.

  21. Good Morning all. Unfortunately I do not see any progress in this thread and therefore I will now try one last time to summarize a few things that could be improved. Then it's over and I'll sit in front of my Kodi with Aura Skin and a modern Design. 1. same themes as on the web and windows app 2. Classic and Dark Theme look the same, you should only modernize the Dark Theme 3. Improve the arrangement of the information in detail pages 4. Renew graphics of buttons and logos, for example from de Web / Win Versin - look very good 5. a switchable overlay or Vignette to darken the background if you want to in Movie and Series und Music Overview

  22. Well I think Emby team does get very defensive when having a discussion regarding design.. we are just mentioning couple of estitica improvements, just to have a better experience and not by insulting you as we all know everyone works hard for their money.

  24. I have installed the server onto several of my boxes including one like you have, but it struggles to use the Emby app AND the server on the same device. It will play some files, but others, not so much. I am still doing some testing to see why they don't play. Right now, am running the sever and player on an Amlogic S922X-H machine, not much more powerful than your Amlogic S905X3 box.

  25. Hi Luke, I can repeat the same things in this discussion but I think it is sufficient to refer to previous comments from other Emby users in this topic and ebr's comments on this. The spacing in general does not feel correct as outlined couple of threats above. Just compare Emby ATV with Plex and you will feel and see the difference in design, I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT FUNCTIONALITY, just the consistency in design through the whole app. As said before if Emby team does not acknowledge this, then no point to ask Emby users to elaborate or give more details. 99% of people would say Ronaldo is much better looking than Messi (Design), but they are both doing the same (functionality). In this case Emby is Messi and Plex Ronaldo but you still would say Messi is still looking good

  27. I believe the discussion ends here because it seems that the design team of Emby does not acknowledge their design is way behind competitors. The home page is ok, but it really starts going very bad when going into movie/TV shows lists & info. There is no consistency in it.. at least acknowledge this and than it is up to you to leave it as it is or change it but please do not convince us on design limitations as I have mentioned before the competitors are lightning years ahead. My friends are using Kodi because they really dislike the design of Emby. Just have a look to Arctic Horizon Skin on Kodi.. this person does understand the design principles and simplicity.

  29. SOLVED: I did a little research on my TV and found a saved list of devices allowed to remotely control the Bravia. The last entry of this long list was set to "no" and it was my Asustors MAC address. So I deleted some (very) old entries, changed the MAC to "yes" (allowed device to remote control the TV) and now everting works very well. So it was my fault and Emby works as well as expected. Many thanks for your help!

  30. Thank you for pointing me to the wright direction. I actually have try that on my remote but didn't work. I ended up going into the box Android setting and changed the Display settings 720UI to 1080ui (rebooted) Now i can see 5 channels EPG at the same time when i press my epg button on my remote. I'm glad you took the time to answer cause It could of be hard to find since it's not even SW related. Thanks again (but I guess That's why I love Emby so far !)

  35. If you create local Accounts they don't Need a Mail address at All. You just create the User for them and give the creds to them. The emby connect is optional but you can just create local users on your Server for them.

  36. The latest firmware has an issue playing back mpeg2 for some people. So until they get that fixed it's hit or miss for Live TV depending if your channels use mpeg2 or h.264.

  37. This afternoon I was watching a movie when the movie frozen, then Roku rebooted. When it came back to life the Emby Roku app had updated. I picked up where it left off and played the rest of the movie perfectly. The problem is the display of movies in a collection. Since the update now displays the movies horizontally with only 3 movies on showing without scrolling. The box surrounding the movie poster is laid out is landscape with the poster a portrait inside. What a waste of space. Can't this layout issue be fixed
    1 point
  38. Sorry but that definition is what you have chosen to adopt. I have seen the definition elsewhere on the internet and other references that it is only TRULY direct play if it COMES direct from the source untouched. I know, i know its unmodified but it is not DIRECT FROM SOURCE However lets not argue about this. It is semantics. Do not be so dismissive of the issue of network bandwidth being cut by 50%. In all terms of CPU, Drive Space, AND NETWORK TRANSIT costs a saving of 50% as a "simple" fix to achieve would be chased down ruthlessly in the commercial world. So lets not be complacent that the massive overhead that 1gbps/10gbps home networks generally give us that we should not care about unnecessary duplication, I'm not saying it is an imperative issue BUT it certainly is something that I would like to see happen. Just because you do not particularly want to see something, others might. Krs Mark

  39. This is TOTALLY untrue. It may happen for the Roku but NOT Android TV and I have debated this before that IT SHOULD BE ALLOWED. In Android TV EVERYTHING goes through the server. In my environment all my media is hosted on my NAS which is directly accessible via IP or URL. However the devs have chosen to push the stream through the server. I have asked for this to be changed because it doubles network load unnecessarily Krs Mark
