  1. I suggest checking into what vdata suggested to force the Shield to sleep when he turns off the TV. Also, make sure they did not disable the "Are you still watching" prompt setting in the app as that will shut it down automatically eventually.

  2. If it's working with http://app.emby.media and not https://app.emby.media Then this either means you haven't setup SSL with your emby server, or the browser is not trusting your certificate. What kind of certificate are you using?

  3. Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless

  5. CURRENT STATUS: SSO: Not yet planned LDAP: Development COMPLETED - BETA AVAILABLE >180 direct endorsements >30 MONTHS (>2.5 years) >12,000 views PLEASE BUMP - - - - - PLEASE LIKE - - - - - PLEASE BUMP - - - - - PLEASE LIKE - - - - - PLEASE BUMP This would greatly expand Emby's usage, and possibly more enterprise level adoption, user templating, user groups, SSO, etc. There are also users who have completely abandoned Emby and ended subscriptions due to the lack of this necessary basic functionality. Note: SAML2 is also part of this request. (header auth is also acceptable, at a minimum.) Context: I am trying to use something like openfire as a Instant Messaging solution which already supports LDAP and SAML2. So this would allow the current user of emby to seamlessly use web-based instant messenger with the same username and password as Emby without the need to enter them into a form. This would also allow universal login to be shared with my home PC's, Spiceworks, Ombii, Organizr, etc. The multitude of possible flexible functionality this could add is truly incredible. THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE, myself and others cannot manage a userbase with proprietary passwords for a single service (with no self-service password reset/recovery), when things that have only months of development implement it within days, easily. Status: LDAP - Development Completed - BETA AVAILABLE! Common LDAP solutions to test against:Open LDAP (Open Source) [use this] ApacheDS OpenDJ 389 Directory Server Microsoft Active Directory SSL is NOT actually needed, but Emby team insisted on it anyways: Simply offering a toggle option for auth to send plaintext or encrypted passwords would work just fine. It is ironic to claim the need to be overly security conscious of user passwords, while lagging behind on basic SSL. If SAML is implemented, a SAML request/response can just be signed by an x509 and it is just as secure as TLS using SSL. SSL does not need to be natively supported, as it is perfectly possible to run it through an SSL reverse proxy tunnel and have the same effect. SSL Feature Request: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/33983-ssl-integrationsupport/&do=findComment&comment=322526As of now username and password is encrypted client-side as security as SSL is not natively implemented. Emby team has said this impedes the adoption of both SSO and LDAP. Please see our SSL request topic; like, comment, and endorse it to show how many people would enjoy/gain from this basic security. Ways to satisfy this FR: Direct LDAP connector SAML2 connector General SSO functionality (SSO Header, etc) Allowing user header auth NGINX auth support RADIUS Authentication Other features that are inherently possible if this is implemented: Self service passwords Ability for users to invite users/guests Expiring Accounts (after duration/trigger) Unified credentials for many services Corporate level authentication security User groups Mass User management Update 1: I encourage others to work on this but I am currently seeing what I can do to develop a solution to this myself. If you have experience in this LDAP/SSO/SAML2/SSL/.NET contact myself, @@Luke, @@ebr or the Emby team to let them know, any help is greatly appreciated! By everyone! Update 2: I know there is always the question of "well how many users actually want/will use this", so I compiled a list of some of the other threads/sites where people request this (to apparently no effectiveness in motivating the team). Update 3 (18 MONTH UPDATE): This request has now hit 18 months in age, NO progress made thus far whatsoever. ( ) Update 4: This FR is now the 4th most liked post ON THE ENTIRE FORUM and the 3rd most liked FR ON THE ENTIRE FORUM (ever), the 1st most liked active FR ON THE ENTIRE FORUM and over 4000 views. Counting endorsements besides those on this thread show over 115 direct requests/endorsements for this basic functionality. Lets get this moving guys, this is getting to be a bit much. Almost 2 years waiting on this now. Source Update 5 (9/20/2017): This feature request is now the MOST DESIRED REQUEST EVER MADE TO EMBY, sadly, that has not merited any progress at all. The staff has been working on things they believe Emby users want or may want, but it is clear what people want. We can only hope now our wishes are respected instead of being told what we want and having our requests dismissed. Source Update 6 [2 year update] (10/17/2017): Two years and not a single bit of progress has been made. TWO YEARS!!! To say this is disappointing is an understatement. The entire reason I went from Plex to Emby was because of local user management. THIS IS THE ONLY REASON, so naturally I wanted to have complete control over my users, but after TWO YEARS, still nothing. Update 7 (3/6/2018): DEVELOPMENT HAS STARTED!!! Check Luke's recent comments, if you want to test it out, download the latest beta and install/configure the LDAP plugin to test and give feedback!!! Update 8 (4/6/2018): Development on the LDAP connector has completed from what I gather, not sure if this is only a beta or a primary release; SSO is still a plan for the future but has not been touched. Progress made by other users (looks to be nearly, if not fully complete): https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/pull/1885 https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/pull/2139 Exploits shown by other users against Emby (emphasizing the need for a centralized authentication solution): https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/12335-unauthenticated-access-over-the-internet-to-logs-folder/ https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/20376-all-folders-visible-to-all-users-after-upgrade/ Related FR that could be helpful: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/46635-support-for-logging-users-in-though-url-scheme/?hl=user Any of these could be interesting to have compatibility with: http://lemonldap-ng.org/welcome/ https://github.com/Jasig/cas http://passportjs.org/ https://www.nginx.com/resources/admin-guide/restricting-access-auth-request/ LDAP/SSO/SAML Requests (~180 endorsements) [>12,000 views] > 95 endorsements on this post ~ 30 endorsementshttps://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/1146 > 35 endorsementshttps://www.bountysource.com/issues/24943821-authenticate-users-using-ldap > 14 endorsementshttps://feathub.com/tidusjar/Ombi/+122 > 4 endorsementshttps://www.reddit.com/r/emby/comments/5o44wd/creating_deleting_updating_users_with_the_api/ Interview, in article comments user said lack of LDAP STOPPED him from using Emby (Emby is actually losing customers due to the lack of this NECESSARY basic functionality):https://www.linux.com/news/software/multimedia/856128-exclusive-interview-emby-founder-luke-pulverenti Duplicate, user had no progress on first 2 posts (no one from Emby actually tracked this or even replied to him):http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/861-mb3-and-active-directory/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/867-mb3-and-active-directory/ Auth announcement, user 'Drashna' in comments requested LDAP/ADhttp://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-177-manage-your-home-with-emby-users/ Various similar requestshttps://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/2494 https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/2493 https://forum.yunohost.org/t/integration-emby/912 http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/13081-active-directory-integration/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/11200-media-browser-3-server-ldap-active-directory/ External SQL auth request:http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/27986-emby-and-shared-mysql-database/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/23509-authenticate-users-via-external-mysql-database/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/12001-external-login-to-mysql/ #ADFS #SSO #LDAP #ActiveDirectory #MSAD #SAML #SAML2.0 #SAML1.1 #PingFederate #OKTA #LemonLDAP #JASIG #authentication #auth #TLS #SSL #Usergroup #usertemplate #header #authheader #headerauth #security #hardening #authhardening #authenticationheader #externalauth #centralauth #centralizedauth #centralizeddb #exploit #authexploit #security #loginhardening #authenticationhardening #accesscontrol #.NET #SelfService #RADIUS

  6. Please click "Like this" and share it if you want to support this feature. Thank you ! Hello, There is a Kodi addon call "gdrive" from ddurdle who can read videos (original and transcoding version) directly from Google Drive. Why not build on this idea to integrate Google Drive as source directly in Emby Server ? In addition, Emby could generate automatically the STRM files from one or many Drive folders. And transcodings are already available with Drive so no need to transcode with Emby server. What do you think ? ------------- Three reasons why this feature will be useful and awesome: 1. Cloud is the future and today the cost is affordable. I have a Google Drive Unlimited for $50/month (ie $600/year) and I have unlimited space that is secured against crashes. Knowing the cost of hard drive and the cost of power consumption, its a very good deal. 2. Google Drive transcode video file. This provides different stream quality like Youtube (1080p, 720p, 480p and 360p) and the "image quality/compression ratio" is very satisfying. I can play 720p video on my poor 4 Mbits DSL. 3. You don't need to have a big server. Personally, I opted for a little dedicated server (Kimsufi 2G) for the cost and I can leave it run 24/7! Furthermore, me and my friends can watch movies from anywhere! Basics features that should be included: GOOGLE APPS OAUTH2 for activation and permission playing transcoded version (MP4 360p, 480p, 720p & 1080p) directly into Emby's app playing original file (avi, mkv, mp4) directly into Emby's app import embedded subtitles porwerful script module for multiple folder scanning and STRM generating

  7. I suggested in a totally different thread a bit ago about possibly adding Discogs as a meta fetcher... https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/79280-duplicate-music-artists-entries-how-to-get-rid-of-them/ That thread has had a few +1 reply posts. As such i figured adding it to the feature requests was the proper way to gauge interest. If you have used MP3tag you should be familiar with Discogs. Its a GREAT alternative to Musicbrainz.

  8. I would like to see Play on built into emby server instead of being an optional plug in. With play on being a setting instead of an option, it would work. I mean no disrespect but play on still does.not work for me like many others & I need this as I do not have a DVR. I dont care about the money & just want it to work, plain & simple.

  9. Yeah well, I think the ship on this has sailed away, been attacked by pirates, burned to the waterline, blown in half by a passing u-boat and then vapourized by nuclear bomb tests at Bikini Atoll.

  10. Yes, that all makes perfect sense, but it doesn't stop me sulking about something being removed that worked great (to me). I'll have a look in feature requests, but there's probably something there already, and I can't see anything new getting very far...

  12. Hello, Since the Android TV app is undergoing it's OSD unification, I wanted to throw a request for the UI to be adapted to 4K screens. I know that Android TV has a limitation on the UI for 1080p, but I tried Kodi recently as well as Plex (as well as other Android TV apps such as Molotov) and they have a way to adopt and not have the blurry UI on 4K screens. I really like the Emby app, the simplicity and the speed over Kodi are great, but looking at posters and text it's blurry and regretful to look at on a 4K screen. Here is a topic illustrating the problem, I could provide further pics from both Kodi and Plex for comparison. Thanks for taking the time, I really hope there is a way to make the Android app even better

  17. DOH!! That was the problem! Or more specifically, the problem was me messing with settings I didn't really understand. This thread can clearly be marked SOLVED!. Even the 30 Mb/sec Fantasia is playing flawlessly on every device I can point at the server. Profound thanks to @ebr, @cayars, and @softworkz for having the extraordinary patience to stick with me through all these pages of fumbling on my part. Emby clearly has an outstanding support team! Along the way though, you taught me an immense amount about H.264, Emby and the Shield! I'm very grateful.

  24. What device does he have? If his TV is CEC compliant he can enable "Sleep Device" by turning off the TV. It works for me. In my bedroom I set the sleep timer on my TV and when the TV turns off the Shield goes to sleep mode.

  25. In an effort to try to make some progress can someone please let us know where we are with the original raised issue ? I appreciate that there is certainly a lot more than just that issue but as a starting point towards making progress (and I for one feeling that at there may be some light at the end of the tunnel). I also accept that the main issue (The very slow (or hanging when) loading live UK Freeview channels) will require a bit of on going work to fully address but each journey begins with small steps. In order to get some form of performance (albeit with some lost functionality) "DirectPlay" should load the fastest however this raised the issue that some channels would not load at all. It is this that I'd like a reply to the progress on please. On July 13th @cayars reproduced the issue - Now I know from experience that this makes isolating the cause a lot easier for developers but following that post apart from further guesses and speculation I haven't seen anything actually acknowledging that this is an issue or anything that's been done to investigate and resolve. With the greatest respect to everyone, and I mean this by way of constructive criticism, there seems to be an awful lot of confusion on what all the different setting are supposed to do, how they interact (or not) with each other and a general trend to not accept that there i an issue with Emby blaming everything but. Hardware seems to often get the blame or siting that Emby can do a lot more than product xyz and so has an harder job in some circumstances and I can see some merit it this except we having issues with what I would term basic functionality - i.e. the ability to easily and consistently watch live freeview TV in the UK. Blaming hardware when it's been stated that other applications on the same hardware work (as far as the Live TV performance is concerned) perfectly well is, with due respect, a kop out. I want Emby to work and as I've stated several times I'm happy to provide whatever information I can, but (and agin by way of constructive feedback) if it's just going to be ignored or the questions asked ignored, or the information supplied not properly considered before bashing off a quick one line blaming something not relevant at that time because the supplied info was only skim read then I feel that unfortunately I don't see how these issues are going to be resolved in a timely and professional manner.

  29. When deleting a library via the UI a library scan is triggered - just stop the scan and delete your next library. Just let the scan after the final delete complete. It sounds like you added way too many libraries in the first place. Perhaps you need to reorganise some content before re-adding libraries. I have about 6 - e.g. TV, Cartoons, Anime, Movies, etc.

  30. Had a similar issue driving me bonkers. No other app displayed this issue only emby Shield live TV. Replaced the HDMI lead between the Shield and TV to no avail then I thought I would replace the ARC lead to the soundbar as a last ditch measure. Low and behold no more audio drops or stutters.

  31. Luke, sorry to take so long to reply. Examples are not easy to come by unless it's a screen shot of the "Failed message in Conversions". Lots of conversions fail faster than I can click from the Convert button on the media page to the Conversions page in the dashboard. The most dire symptoms described in #1 above were actually caused by my ignorance of what makes the Shield Pro drop all it's network connections. It would be nice to have some indication in the Emby Server dashboard that it can't actually see a network media store. Having to dive in to the Shield's settings when something goes funny in Emby is a bit non-obvious. I had misunderstood how the split/unsplit process worked, but @cayars cleared that up for me. Most of my conversions issues are covered in gory detail in the "...unsafe at any bitrate" thread in this forum. I think it's safe to mark this thread "closed" or "answered", or however that works in this forum system. Many thanks for following up!

  35. @Luke Has there been any progress with regard to implementing audiobooks? Seriously, the primary things that are lacking are for Continue Listening to queue the whole book, and for a book's Album page to have a Resume button that remembers which track was last played. Other possible additions are quality-of-life improvements, but without those two things it's nearly unusable.

Anyone want to test my bif generator? - Windows only It can create bifs without artifacts or compression for mkvs and ts files, but the sizes might be a bit bigger (but still work with Emby) Its not finished yet, consider it an Alpha Version please..........May contain bugs ....May Overwrite existing bifs (so rename or move them if you want to keep them) By using app you agree to my terms - i am not responsible for anything !! anything goes wrong your on your own. (just in case - probably nothing will go wrong - it doesn't have a delete function ) USE A TEST FOLDER & FILE FIRST files at the moment are created in the same directory as the movie Still to add: file queue NEEDS ffmpeg to be in the same directory OR to be in the same directory as ffmpeg If you try it and crash it, let me know what you did PLEASE USE THE LATEST VERSION (ALPHA 4 Lower down in posts) It will be at bottom or last post I made - thanks
