  1. Return it and buy the Shield Pro .. do a search as there are many issues with the 'Tube' that all the media players are experiencing as it's a hobbled, memory constrained 32bit player...

  2. Done in beta on Android TV. Thanks @ebr @Luke!

  3. The current release firmware of the Tube has a memory leak bug, that's the cause of problems with high bitrate media. This is already solved in an unofficial hotfix image. At least it helps in Kodi.

  4. It really depends on what you are using it for - if you are playing 1080p HD content or 4K streaming (low bandwidth for 4K) content from the internet, then it copes - but if you are trying to push 4K Remux's - then it struggles or simply hangs. Personally, I would not want to invest in a piece of hardware that is already seeing limitations - in a years time, will it start to struggle with high bitrate streaming from Netflix as well ?

  7. I mentioned it in another thread, but thought I'd put it here since this looks like a new section--just for posterity. Would like to have a bulk meta data editor function. For example, if I have 750 videos whose producing studio is the same, I want to select those videos and apply the name of the studio to those videos. Similarly, if there is a custom tag I want to apply to a subset of those movies, I want to be able to select them in bulk and apply the tag to those videos (instead of selecting them one by one).

  8. Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless

  9. Request No. 1: Implement Metascore rating for movies, from Metacritic.com, in Emby. OMDb api provides this information. Request No. 2: Also, fix an option in settings to enable or disable a ratings source according to the user's choice.

  10. Hi, In the TV Shows library there's is an option to merge from diferrents folders, thats works good. ¿It's possible to put the same option for the movies? I actually use different hard drives for different qualitys, so when I put a library I have a lot of movies that i have to group manually. I know there is a plugin doing something similar, but that plugin merge all libraries, and i want some library separated than others because I have for example a uniqe library with GDrive Movies, 3D movies separated... etc I think it would be nice have that option just like tv shows. Thanks

  11. Please click "Like this" and share it if you want to support this feature. Thank you ! Hello, There is a Kodi addon call "gdrive" from ddurdle who can read videos (original and transcoding version) directly from Google Drive. Why not build on this idea to integrate Google Drive as source directly in Emby Server ? In addition, Emby could generate automatically the STRM files from one or many Drive folders. And transcodings are already available with Drive so no need to transcode with Emby server. What do you think ? ------------- Three reasons why this feature will be useful and awesome: 1. Cloud is the future and today the cost is affordable. I have a Google Drive Unlimited for $50/month (ie $600/year) and I have unlimited space that is secured against crashes. Knowing the cost of hard drive and the cost of power consumption, its a very good deal. 2. Google Drive transcode video file. This provides different stream quality like Youtube (1080p, 720p, 480p and 360p) and the "image quality/compression ratio" is very satisfying. I can play 720p video on my poor 4 Mbits DSL. 3. You don't need to have a big server. Personally, I opted for a little dedicated server (Kimsufi 2G) for the cost and I can leave it run 24/7! Furthermore, me and my friends can watch movies from anywhere! Basics features that should be included: GOOGLE APPS OAUTH2 for activation and permission playing transcoded version (MP4 360p, 480p, 720p & 1080p) directly into Emby's app playing original file (avi, mkv, mp4) directly into Emby's app import embedded subtitles porwerful script module for multiple folder scanning and STRM generating

  12. While setting up a new device or just searching for the next hiccup it would sometimes be useful to be able to jump to the currently playing media which is shown in the server dashboard. Maybe just by clicking on the image of the active device. ATM now, I have to search for the item in the search field (which sometimes work and sometimes not) or need to manually browse through the library to see the media details.

  13. It seems to me that Emby has progressively removed features over the years. I discovered recently that I can no longer view my movies by Studio (this seems to be a recent change). Viewing by Actor was removed quite some time ago (https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/26944-missing-a-menu-option/). Can these features please be re-implemented? And can y'all PLEASE put in the changelog when a feature has been disabled or removed so that the end user can determine if upgrading will remove functionality previously depended on? Thx!

  14. Hello. Would be great to be able to adjust subitiles delay in Emby Theatre or Web client like we can in VLC with "H" and "J" shortcuts (up and down). Thanks !

  16. Hello, I must be doing something wrong or overlooking something. I have an LG TV with the latest android web OS and the default LG remote and I just can't figure out how to skip forward or backwards more than 10 or 15 seconds at a time. Is there any way to skip forward or backwards 5 / 10 / 15 minutes at a time? emby does remember the last position of the movie I was watching but sometimes I need to skip forward or backwards. If there is no way to do this on the LG TV but perhaps there is a way to do this with the emby app on a fire stick I would probably just buy one of those. any and all help would be appreciated.

  17. My issue for a long time wasn't SSA, but with external ASS files which caused transcoding until recent builds which broke external SSA for me also. Both are fixed now in .81, thanks I've always extracted and used external subs (except for PGS) so one less thing for my server to do when clicking Play

  18. Not sure if that one is different from the one that was just released, but on the released one the .ssa subtitles seem to have been fixed. Thanks, and sorry for not finding the time to provide logs about the issue before. Edit: @FrostByte not sure at what issue your TV is running, but as I noted in the other thread, .ssa subtitles at least on my TV was broken only on versions 79 and 80, are you sure your user's configuration is set to extract subtitles?

  19. Just make a copy of the MPV folder already present for safe keeping and you should be fine. Of course you're into experimental territory when you do this but it can be done. If you report any issues in the forums, you should however switch back to the original mpv or make note of the version you are using!

  20. 1.0.81 is available for USB installation. It has a number of subtitle related improvements that can be found in the release notes topic. Thanks.

  21. Are you 100% sure that there isn't some other Emby Server running on your network? The app is sending out a UDP broadcast and it is getting a response from an Emby server reporting an external address: [DiscoverServersTask] Send To Address: 10.0.0.255:7359 / 10.0.0.255:7359 [DiscoverServersTask] Received Message: {"Address":"http://172.xx.xx.xx:8096","Id":"xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx","Name":"whiskeyjack"}

  32. TV is wildly different across the globe. In one area you may get 5 to 10 channels while in another over 1000 via cable all DRM free. DRM is a killer to 3rd party DVRs like Emby that stream to multiple clients, no side-stepping that. DRM basically limits you to playing back content on the device that recorded it assuming it can handle DRM or an authorized client that supports DRM. We live in an ever expanding global market where things will change. Live TV/DVR will get worse in some areas and will get better in other areas. Some DVRs are able to make use of TV Everywhere to record content, even some channels that have DRM on the local cable subscription. I doubt anyone can do more than an educated guess as to what things will look like 2 years from now in most areas. I've stopped trying and only worry about year out. So if I can break even or better on what I want to do vs cost I'm good. Emby has Live TV/DVR for those that want to use it and can be ignored by those that don't want to use it, admin prerogative! But keep in mind a lot of people subscribe to Emby Premiere just for Live TV/DVR functionality so it's only right that Emby spend time working and improving a part of the system that was the "hook" for them to get Premiere. Development on other parts of the system continue as well.

  33. I dont see it in there either, the path is /emby/Items/<item ID>/PlaybackInfo It is a POST request and needs some Device and User info in the POST body, see the following python code for more info: https://github.com/faush01/plugin.video.embycon/blob/9ea7fef82f3f1d893b7fdcb6ed36fa70c9a5a39b/resources/lib/downloadutils.py#L156

  34. Commercial television is pretty much crap everywhere. In the immortal words of Mr. Hitchcock, "Television has brought back murder into the home - where it belongs." and from another source: "I wish there was a knob on the TV to turn up the intelligence. There's a knob called 'brightness', but it doesn't work'" Gallagher

  35. That or set a CRF and allow the transcoder to make the bitrate allocations as needed. That almost always works better than trying to guess bitrates as the CRF setting will tell it to use what it needs.

  37. Press the menu button to open Shield settings sidebar, the 2nd or 3rd menu option is something like Map Menu Button, which once selected gives you a dozen or so options of what to do when Menu is pressed. Set it to 'Send to App' This does mean you have to exit out of any app to adjust the Shield settings, but I suspect for most that will not be a big deal.

  39. I was about to post a new feature request for this, but found this one that seems to match. @Luke @ebr Can you please implement a REAL voting system? Liking the first post and manually curating the most "liked" features is NOT a real voting system. Users shouldn't have to read instructions to figure out that they need to like the first post in order to vote. I didn't even find that out until a month ago and I've been an Emby user for 8 months. The even bigger issue is that the only sorted listed of voted features is manually curated. The list needs to be computer sortable not human sortable in order for it to be useful.

  40. Agreed, but alternatively if you look at how far jellyfin have come in the last 18 months and the engaged community of volunteers that they have working in the project can you be confident that your statements will stand? It definitely feels that since emby went closed source there has been a significant slowdown in development and everything is now about brand promotion/ creation rather than delivering new functions to us as end users. Yes everything works but the excitement to receiving a new beta and seeing something useful to me has long passed

  41. This feature request is twice as old as the whole jellyfin project

  42. It should be a bit embarrassing that jellyfin has overtaken emby in terms of features.

  44. For users with Samsung Tizen SmartTVs (2015 - Present) who want to test the latest version of the Emby client app before it's submitted to Samsung for release in their app store. These installs should be considered beta until approved by Samsung, however they are the same ones submitted to Samsung monthly for inclusion in the Samsung store. Samsung's policy is that the only official way to distribute apps is through the Samsung store and that usb installs should be used for testing purposes only. Because of this policy Samsung has mandated that usb distributed apps must expire within 30 days of compiling. To help with testing you will be remined to update to the latest beta release as the app expires to ensure you are using the latest version when reporting issues. This install will also work for those who don't have access to the official client app in the Samsung app store. However, the same rules must be followed as indicated above. Release notes and version number For the latest release notes and version number click on this post https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/31461-emby-for-samsung-smarttv-release-notes-tizen-orsay/ Installation instructions Download this zip file: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/raw/master/tizen/tizen.zip Format a USB 2.0 stick using FAT16 (some larger USB 3.0 hard drives have been found to not work) (newer models may support other formats, check your users manual) Copy the tizen.zip file to the root of your USB stick Extract the contents of the tizen.zip file to the root. (This should create the folder 'userwidget' in the root of the USB stick and the folder should contain the two files needed) Turn on the TV Make sure your TV is connected to the Internet Plug the USB stick into the TV's USB port. Installation should start automatically. (There will be 3 quick messages in the upper right corner of the TV) Click 'OK' once the installation is complete. Optional, add the Emby app as a shortcut to Home Start the app from the Smart Hub or installed apps section of your TV. Troubleshooting If the installation does not start automatically, then please ensure your TV firmware is up to date and try again. If you get an installation error, try the process again with the USB stick formatted ass FAT32. We've received reports from users that installing from USB 3.0 hard-drive devices does not work, so please make sure to use a USB 2.0 thumb-drive device. Also, make sure the thumb-drive is unlocked/writable before plugging it in. The TV will need to write to your thumb-drive. Users with 2015 Samsung SmartTVs may experience an issue where the USB version of the app deletes itself upon restart of their TV. This is a security measure implemented by Samsung in which we have no control. If this is the case you may have to leave the thumb-drive in the TV and reinstall upon reboot, or install the latest release version of the client found in the Samsung app center. Updating from a previous USB install The app will notify you when an update is available. To update a previous USB install just repeat the instructions above. Notes: Certain Samsung SmartTVs have an issue where the app won't upgrade from USB drive if there is already a USB version installed. If this is the case you'll simply delete the old version before inserting the USB and then repeat the same installation process to install the new version. Also, try power cycling your TV after deleting the previous version if you have problems.
