Hi I would really like to be able to send some custom notifications to my users For example, i would like to be able to send a notification like : -"What content would you like to see added on Emby this week ? https://www.strawpoll.me/#####" -"Blabla Season3 is coming next week !" -"Server will be down for maintenance tonight" A little notification icon on the top right corner would be awesome. I looked in the Feature Requests list but i did'nt find anything like that. Thanks for reading, and for this amazing software.

Admin's "sense" based on what best of his environments services, not to other admin's or users, it sure different than his. Either way, I said why I was consider to turn it off since 2015, but I did not, again as Ebr said, this done by IPS.

I (and I thought most people) work UP not down in order to address the oldest topics first. But you also see any other new topics that have come in since you started browsing. In short, it is more accurate and up-to-date. But I understand, people hate change :).

I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. Hi, I would like to have an option to choose H265 instead of H264 in the Transcode option. It will be smaller for all bad bandwidth (2~5Mbit ADSL), but will have a great quality. Mobile phone can benefit of it greatly too with the 4G and the limitation of download.

Pretty simple suggestion. I have multiple users for my Emby server. If I want to do continuous maintenance on the media, I have to tell everyone. some of them are harder to reach than others ( i.e. no Facebook or Skype chat etc. ) It would be great if say... on the admin panel, I could hit a check box that enables 'maintenance mode', where the server still runs does everything as normal, but instead of the login screen it displays a maintenance page saying the server is unavailable. Even better if I were able to directly put a reason in a text box that would then display on the login screen as well. Not really sure what others would think of this, but for me it would be quite helpful. mostly if I want to make sure no one is trying to access content I know won't work until I've done a full library scan again. One thing that I would like to see implemented is the abilty to display lyrics in all of the apps. For those of us who have libraries with lyrics embedded in the actual files, it would be trivial. Simply scrape the lyrics from the lyrics tag and display them. As far as scraping from online lyrics databases, I don't see that working very well as just about every app that I have seen use it either doesn't get the correct lyrics or they are truncated with an add for the website.

Hi, Is it just me or trailers max quality is 480p 4mbps? I think I once saw 1080p trailer..?

It appears that any playlist that any user creates is public--all other users can see it. I can appreciate the benefit of a public playlist. I could create a playlist called "Harv's Favorite Horror Films" for example, in case other users are interested in checking out what I like. However, the way most of my users are using playlists is to keep track of things they want to watch in the future. They are typically things that the user has not watched yet, so it's not meant as a recommendation to others, just as a way of them personally keeping track of what they want to watch. Having that kind of playlist be public is of questionable benefit to other users. Additionally, it is not clear when you create a playlist that other users will be able to see it. That has the potential to cause some embarrassment. He hasn't created one yet, but I wouldn't want to see my nephew's "movies to fap to" playlist, for example. If I could make a suggestion, I would suggest associating each playlist with the user who created it, and giving that user the ability to make the playlist private or public. For example, the following two checkboxes could be shown when creating or editing a playlist: Allow other users to see this playlist Allow other users to edit this playlist Initially, both checkboxes would be unchecked. Since another user cannot edit a playlist they cannot see, the second would be allowed to be checked only if the first were also checked. (You could grey it out to make that clear.) Depending on your UI preference, it could also be a drop-down menu. Playlist visibility: (Only me | all users can view | all users can view and edit) Thanks for considering this.

While Emby already has recommendations built in based on previously watched items I find they are not all that helpful. They seem to be based on genre only, for example, because you watched a comedy here are other comedies in your library. I do like how the also directed by/appear in recommendations work though. What would be great is if Emby could incorporate Trakt's recommendations as they are much more sophisticated. Trakt's recommendations are not only based off of what you have previously watched but also what your Trakt friends and other Trakt users have watched. It takes user ratings and trending/popular media into account. Ideally Emby would include full Trakt integration allowing users to rate media after watching, view lists and recommendations, and view upcoming media all from within Emby but for now I think recommendations would be a nice addition. Trakt has the potential to give Emby that community feel and allow users to discover new media, find something to watch, and recommend media to other users. http://docs.trakt.apiary.io/#reference/recommendations

It would be useful if the server (or perhaps clients) could cache most (if not all) content images (posters, backdrops, logos, etc) for movies, TV series and seasons. This would mainly be of benefit when a portion of someone's content is offline but the users would still like to view the content to know what exists. I think caching on the server would be preferable, then all clients could make use of the same cached images. if you think this would be a useful feature, please click the "Like This" button on this post.

While setting up a new device or just searching for the next hiccup it would sometimes be useful to be able to jump to the currently playing media which is shown in the server dashboard. Maybe just by clicking on the image of the active device. ATM now, I have to search for the item in the search field (which sometimes work and sometimes not) or need to manually browse through the library to see the media details.

Please read this post first. I was wondering if it would be possible to add something that would allow you to skip the intro to shows automatically while binge watching. When watching Netflix it does this for some shows, and im not sure if thats a feature of Netflix itself or a Chrome extension i use called "Flix Assist" but it would be a nice feature to have within Emby as well. and possibly even create a custom timed skip for specific shows

It would be cool to allow Emby server users to comment what they think about a media piece. This could be shown on the top portion of a media info's page. Perhaps right under description, to encourage more user engagement.

Is it possible to add a bitrate for users that are direct(whatever) something? It's good info, and readily available. Thanks

I dunno how themes work here as I'm new to emby but I wasn't too crazy about the UI so i decided to modify it to look as close to netflix as possible. Here's what I have so far.

Not a speedtest of internet on the client. But a speedtest on a client to the server they are being hosted from. This could help basic users understand network limitations when deciding quality profiles.

Often times when I see "Reason for transcodng: Media bitrate exceeds limit." in the info I wonder, what kind of internet connection do they have? I know this can cover multiple scenarios like bandwidth limit set for user, server, client side quality setting, as well as AUTO bandwidth detection... Can you PLEASE add to the dashboard the returned client bandwidth capabilities? The value you are getting from the client that tells emby its bandwidth abilities. While you are at it tighten up the spaces between lines on the transcode items, and align the results to the right instead of center.. MAYBE SOMETHING LIKE THIS :

To gauge interest... What if you had the ability to "Forget" a series for the purposes of Next Up display. That is, it would no longer show in Next Up - unless you watched another episode. Sometimes you maybe watch a series for a while and, even though there is more of it or more is made later, maybe it isn't as good as the earlier seasons or maybe you just don't have time for it anymore. So you'd like it to quit showing up in your Next Up list so it is less cluttered and you can focus on the series you are actually watching now. If you start watching it again, the "forget" would be forgotten and it would start to show up in Next Up again.

After examining the facilities, I am now getting a single page with all the unread posts in the subforums I am interested in. Saves a lot of navigating about, so I am pretty pleased (the other forum using this software that I visit hasn't enabled the view I use for this - boo!). The only minor issue is that with the extra work updating the page all the time, it's a bit slower going back to the listing after reading a post - but that's probably inevitable. Paul

So you don't like the fact that the forum is now more live and up to date and you don't have to keep refreshing the page to see what changed since you were last there...?

this also affects local accounts without emby connect (accounts that were created without manually setting a password on the "Password" tab afterwards), disabling logins without a password is an urgently needed "feature"

Hi, Have a big problem for the Trailers app, after install, went to settings selected Trailers for incoming Movies, Theater, Blu-ray and Netflix... My problem is I got like 5 New Coming Soon Movies for Yr 2020 and the rest are from 2017, I mean like 100 Trailers. all in Blu-ray and Netflix are way outdated and in Coming Soon is 10% ok and 90% outdated. I had uninstalled and re-install the app and nothing, is the same. Run the App, try to scan, modify but nothing seems to work or fix the Yr. C'mon 2017 are 4 Yr old. How I can resolve this issue ?

Just fyi Exoplayer is the one being used in Emby for Android TV as well and there it seems to be better. @Luke, was there a particular why you guys are using MPV over Exoplayer on Android mobile? Always wondered and here is a use case where Exoplayer excels compared to MPV.

I got my GTX 1060 6GB from @Doofus for $80 shipped so I'm not complaining. Wish he would have stuck around.. He was pig headed but also had a wealth of information too.

Which is fair enough, but at one point almost every forum with Tapatalk used to have a hideous landing screen "forcing" you to install it. However... No landing screen on my mobile, and if you hadn't mentioned it, then I'd be none the wiser Good job.

Hello, currently when Emby is playing media there are lots of transcoding options, for example for video files - 1080p, 720p etc., including a special option called 'Auto'. To my understanding if Emby decides that you have a fast enough connection it will switch to a 'Auto - Direct' mode and it will stream the movie as is, without transcoding. However, there is no 'Direct' standalone option present. Why is this feature needed: Sometimes the 'Auto' option decides that the connection speed is not fast enough so it switches to a transcoding method (usually 720p 1Mbps for me). This is problematic, as not only the movie quality becomes terrible to watch, but induces stress to the server, which becomes too great once more than 2-3 users are watching simultaneously - resulting in a buffering movie even at a low quality. Currently to get around the problem with low quality stream I have to go to settings and manually change the transcoding to the same resolution and bitrate that I know the movie is originally (or greater). This is unnecessary and could be avoided by providing a separate 'Direct' streaming option.

I'll add my voice to this, some times movies or episodes will have an abnormally high rating, the rating levels out after time as more people vote, it would be nice to have the rating data refreshed by a scheduled task. Thanks, Wob
