frylich 5
Hello dear support, I have the following configuration: - Qnap NAS Emby Server with Letsencrypt SSL - successful access via LAN (without SSL) and WAN (with SSL) from different devices like iPad, Andriod Phone, FireTV (only LAN), Windows Desktop App, Browser, etc. But the following problem: As soon as I try to reach the server over the WAN with a FireTV, no connection to server is possible. This only happens with FireTV devices. I kindly ask for your professional support. Thanks!
ebr 14925
Hi. Most likely the Fire TV won't accept your certificate. Please see:
Luke 37102
Hi, we haven't yet added support in this app to override the device default and force it to accept the certificate. It's something we're planning to do, but until then you'll need to connect with either http or use a certificate that the Fire TV will trust. Thanks.
Solution frylich 5 Posted July 13, 2021 Author Solution Share Posted July 13, 2021 (edited) Hello dear Emby Support Team, I have found the solution to my problem! Identified source of error: The Lets Encypt Chain Certificate does not seem to be correctly offered for download internally by Qnap. Solution: 1) As usual, download the certificate for the manual conversion of the standard PEM certificate in the Qnap Control under Panel / Security / SSL Certificate & Private Key. Explanation: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001160086-secure-your-server 2) Determine and download the correct chain certificate via a domain check on "Whats my Cain Cert", specifying the Emby Secure Server Port (e.g. 8920). Website: https://whatsmychaincert.com/ 3) Unzip the Lets Encrypt zip file from the first step. Convert the certificate by "SSL Shopper" from PEM to PFX / PKCS # 12 and be sure to add the Chain Cert from the second point. 4) Save the new PFX / PCKS # 12 file for Emby e.g. on a share of your Qnap NAS and enter the path in Emby network settings as in the "Emby Secure Server" declaration. I hope to have helped others who should have the same problem Edited July 13, 2021 by frylich
